Gawd, the minimalists will kill us.....

It was Someone Else's idea, all right?

Carry on where you left off, be it owls, bins, sharks, tins of vodka, karaoke etc. [grain]

cor you girls are hardcore. I'm working on my record of 4 minutes with the popup 4 man, but we're still about an hour with the 6 man!

Going to have a lie down. Been struggling with some woody erections in Slubber's garden, but I think it all looks well now.

Kingsroadie · 19/08/2011 13:47

Ha - Brambles - I think not Grin Just that being bell tent - based it's quicker! (and remember, I did manage to make a hole in it the first time we pitched it...)

I want a 4 minute pitcher!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/08/2011 14:59

Am Blush because my bell takes me around 45 minutes to pitch. That is just me though, with DH coralling the boys. Still ... (poor use of grammar)

Bramble, in response to ages ago, yes it is a festival that I have to stick a finger in one ear for! Grin

Jet/Sal - LOVE the silicone kettle! What a fab idea. I can see this is the (expensive) future of camping cusine.

PMSL at meths squirrel. Do they drop out of trees, inebriated?

Kings - wow. What a gorgeous set-up!

OMG, just checked Bramble's photos. I think you've worked wonders with Slubber's collection of outhouses. Polka dots improve everything, I always feel.

F1lthym1ndedvixen · 19/08/2011 16:16

our mega-awning for the bongo takes 20 mins...we sleep int here and boys sleep in pop up. Though today i was at a tent sale and picked up the cutest little 2-man pop-up tent for - £10!! it was reduced from £59,99 Shock and was cheap because it has been set up as a demo tent in a field for a fortnight. It pissed it down massively last night here and not a drop was found in the tent :) The boys are very excited and are now fighting over who sleeps in the pop up bit and who sleeps in the tent.

F1lthym1ndedvixen · 19/08/2011 16:17

Reading how long some of the big tents take to put up has totally cured me of tent-envy. i was wandering round some of the Big Daddies today, and some of them are bigger than my actual house, I swear to god!

lostinwales · 19/08/2011 19:07

Oh brambles I think I love you.....(on purpose use of bad grammar)

kings I adore your tent, shame DS1 would rather sleep outside than in a communal setting and DS2 is going that way too now. We are going to be a family of one man pop up's heading round France next year Grin.

Not sure if this will work but if so I have found a giant metal fish would this do for slubber's drive?

Glad you all like my folding kettle, my fabulous mother in law bought it for me for my birthday as she new it would be ace for camping, I just hope she found one cheaper than that site.

I love the (precious) meths squirrel, I can just see them all pissed up round a little fire drinking out of acorn cups and getting fighty.

Anyway to everyone. Fairplay to those of you who have regular jobs, I've worked full time for a week and a half and I'm knackered, what a light weight. I was actually glad it rained tonight as it meant we postponed going to the camping field until tomorrow Blush got a glass of wine and a takeaway to come and then bed!

F1lthym1ndedvixen · 19/08/2011 19:09

Lost - so glad you just posted...i was beginning to get paranoid, thinking you'd all moved to a new a campsite and left me, on account of not having a posh enough tent or the wrong sort of windbreak, or something Grin

lostinwales · 19/08/2011 19:16

I'm here! Not surprised you've gone off the bigger tents we've got an Outwell biggie and we haven't even got it out this year Blush. It would be awesome for a week somewhere if we had EHU and all the gubbins but we are having such an ace time with our four man pop up that it's just languished in a cupboard.

I'm surprised anyone talks to me, after all I have posted a photo of our tent with bunting and I'm not ashamed!

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 19/08/2011 19:16

Bramblechooks - Grin she is gonna kill you!

Well today I got sunburn, yesterday trench foot was a real risk. Don't you love the British weather?!!

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 19/08/2011 19:17

Lost-bunting is goooood :)

notwavingjustironing · 19/08/2011 19:21

Hi Losty it's ver overrated, working, isn't it? Grin

I've just finished creating towers of stuff to take tomorrow to come and see you Wales!

Wasn't sure whether it will all fit (it won't) till she reminded me she only had one child and an Audi Estate- so its all good.

I even went to Home Bargains today for my premixed aperitifs!

PMSL at Bramble's graffiti artwork Grin

Yellow, yay for camping on Sunday!

whispering

lostinwales · 19/08/2011 19:32

You are quite a long way away in North Wales not waving! I'm not even sure if they speak the same language up there (the north/south Welsh divide is almost bigger than Welsh vs English sometimes) There HAS to be a mid way meet up next year, maybe Bala would be good?

Blimey F1lthy, I feel quite a purist now!

Glad you are drying out SeaShells [grain]

Kingsroadie · 19/08/2011 19:49

Listen you guys - there is nothing wrong with a bit of bunting .... is there? Grin

Also Reshape - I would imagine a bell tent on your own would take that long! We had two of us (baby was in buggy supposedly sleeping and pup was tied to his ground spike with a bone), so one pushing in pegs to groundsheet/tent and one following hammering them in etc. Def helped timing-wise!

Ah thanks Losty! Tell you what - I think you could get pop ups in the Emperor due to ceiling height! You could have them next to each other at one end... (poor grammar - and this from a self-confessed pedant! Anyway I think some grammar is organic and evolves from everyday usage - my father says that and he did a masters in linguistics. Ellipses, I think, are acceptable on those terms anyway - not so for many other "modern" grammar. Text speak can stuff itself, misuse of apostrophes nearly kills me. I won't go on Grin) Also like the metal fish.

Brambles - fab wooden erections!

notwavingjustironing · 19/08/2011 19:51

Yes Losty I was talking to a nice welsh nan about that last week Wink

Seashells - this British weather is something else isn't it? Did it all drain away as quickly as it came ?

OP posts:
SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 19/08/2011 20:28

It all drained away and got cleared up-you wouldn't know it happened today. I'm not sure about all the businesses though. Apparently Asda had alarms going and water rising yesterday, and people were still sloshing around filling trolleys like zombies Hmm Shock

YellowDinosaur · 19/08/2011 21:05

Just popping on for a quick hello - I'm feeling all rough and full of cold Sad so off to bed now to try and shake it so I can camp with the boys on Sun. Beachcombers full but sure I can find somewhere else. While looking this pm (left work early as nothing on - this week has been SPOOKILY quiet!) I found a fab wild camping sit in the woods about 10 miles from here which looks great for the future - not that I would be up for that for a protracted stay I don't think but certainly for a couple of days. Bit reluctant to pitch my tent in the middle of a wood miles from others on my own with the boys while they are little though... probably a bit paranoid as they would love it but there you go! We'll find somewhere nice in northumberland instead!

I'll hope to back on form tomorrow xxx

notwavingjustironing · 19/08/2011 21:15

Night Yellow hope you feel better tomorrow x

OP posts:
ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/08/2011 21:29

Sorry to hear you're poorly, Yellow. Sad Hope it goes away soon, and we get some warm sunshine to dry up all the yukky stuff.

When you wild-camp, what do you do about getting permission? I'd love to try that one day, but haven't got a clue how to start.

In the spirit of this newly-liberated thread, I'd like to put up a photo of my just-finished tent bunting. I promise to take it down before someone returns from Parts Teutonic. Wink Haven't stuck up profile pics since I namechanged, so not sure I'll manage it tonight!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/08/2011 21:41

oh. actually, that wasn't that hard. On profile now, soon to adorn soggy bell tent at festival!

lostinwales · 19/08/2011 21:51

Wow,lovely Reshape! I feel all inadequate bunting wise now I only have shop bought [wunk] [grain]

MisSalLaneous · 19/08/2011 22:11

Reshape, that's lovely!

Yellow, poor you. Hope you feel better soon. I'd also like to hear about wild-camping: How do you find places?

notwavingjustironing · 19/08/2011 22:20

Beautiful Reshape - fancy pimping Slubber's bin ?Grin

OP posts:
lostinwales · 19/08/2011 22:31

Oh boy slubber's barely been gone 5 minutes and we've all turned into glampers.

MisSalLaneous · 19/08/2011 22:39

We can only hope that the wonders of Caravan Land has rubbed off a little to reduce the shock.
