Gawd, the minimalists will kill us.....

It was Someone Else's idea, all right?

Carry on where you left off, be it owls, bins, sharks, tins of vodka, karaoke etc. [grain]

That's so helpful sal, thanks, will show mum. My cousins wife has grand mal and they have a little boy, but she needs a lot of help. Glad you can feel the warning iyswim, a schoolfriend of mine had warnings of impending seizures by smell. She's a teacher now.
Am half asleep at local pool whilst boys swim. Just feeding boy 2 lots of glucose whilst he boings!

brambleschooks · 31/08/2011 14:28

Ps, notwaving, I have no idea where you are! How very close are you?!

notwavingjustironing · 31/08/2011 14:38

Bramble - I pm'ed you yesterday but I thought you thought I was a stalker and so you didn't reply..... Grin

MisSalLaneous · 31/08/2011 15:41

Hope it helps your mum a little, bramble. I haven't read as much about treatment in older people, but this is an example of paediatric ketogenic diet resources. Hopefully he'll be fine with medication anyway. Mind you, if my dad ever got the excuse to eat bacon, eggs and fried mushrooms every morning, he'd probably be over the moon...

Hey Bramble and Notwaving, you have to update your locations. Lie if you have to. I feel a bit guilty about describing your hometowns as bushy areas now. I blame the wine.

MisSalLaneous · 31/08/2011 15:42

Uhm, hairy, not bushy. I'm making this worse, aren't I?! Blush

brambleschooks · 31/08/2011 16:32

Hello, I have just spotted that I have a message, which is exciting, I shall investigate!
Thanks for info re ketognic diet, will investigate. Dad is diabetic so I've talked to him about carb counting too so that he can keep it under better control.

lovecat · 31/08/2011 17:00

Festyboy is GORGEOUS :) You were incredibly brave to go to a festival with such little ones, we wimped out and waited til DD was 5 before even thinking of it...

Bunting looks fabulous too and I'm loving the cereal packet windshield.

Hope you got paid, Seashells!

Yay re. free-range BramblesDad - I have nothing helpful to add re. epilepsy but hoping it can be managed and is not too inconveniencing to him.

Have spent an interesting afternoon traipsing around the West End looking for wigs, props, a large-man-sized leopard print dress and various medical accessories. Got it all now except the dress - have been watching various ones on ebay, but plus size ladies must be desperate for animal prints, as I was viciously outbid on every one of them! I swear, I am never doing a period play or in fact any play that's set anywhere other than an empty, propless room ever again!

MisSalLaneous · 31/08/2011 17:02

Lovecat, for a moment there I forgot about your play, and I got a little worried and locked my doors by reading about your style&beauty quest! Grin

lovecat · 31/08/2011 17:20

:o I'm quite normal, honest [grain]

I'm annoyed because I found one in a charity shop for the original actor and it fitted him perfectly, but the replacement guy is built comme un maison du merde fabrique en brique, so I need a size 20+ to get it over his chest... grrr...

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 31/08/2011 19:46

I'll post properly later but just popped by to say I'm
Very excited! Not only did I get paid (hurrah) but thanks to you all I know have gin in a can...in the fridge Grin thank you for this revelation!

Brambles-I hope you Dad is feeling better and the goblins are staying away...MissSal I'm sorry to hear your epilepsy got in the way of your weekend camping, I hope you got some sleep an the prodromal signs disappeared!

Slubberdegullion · 31/08/2011 19:51

Sad Grin

Good luck lovecat and 'ahhhh' to festyboy.

scaryt · 31/08/2011 20:49

Cannot think of a single folky song to "phnaaar" to with my hand at my ear, shocking really as I went to loads of folk festivals as a younger person coming from a family of clog and morris dancers as I do. I kid you not.

brambles - good to hear your dad is on his way home.

reshapes - you're bell is loverly, is your bunting made of wraps?

Last woodland jaunt before school. Boohoo. It has been a rather fab summer.

School on Friday to do some preparation before term kicks off on Monday.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 31/08/2011 20:50

Oh yes, I forgot tosay-festy boy is gorgeous! so cute :)

Slubber-I hope you are having a fab trip-sounds fun Grin good to hear Emperor Palpatine rocks where ever you are in the world!!

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 31/08/2011 20:53

Funny how we are all closet folkies as well-we really are a bit of a niche/quiche/wooly fleece bit of MN aren't we!

Scaryt-I always thought Morris dancers must be loads of fun, I just assume you must be permanently half cut to wear that stuff in public?!

lostinwales · 31/08/2011 21:02

Nothing really exciting to add. I have spent the day scrubbing a wooden hot tub and cleaning it's filters. Hopefully when I have it pristine I can grab a quiet hour in it without anyone noticing! DH is in the kitchen, we have spent the evening looking for the source of the Very Bad Smell that came up this afternoon. I found it behind the fridge and have locked him in until it has gone. I am sitting on the couch with my nose stuffed into a bunch of sweet peas in the style of a Victorian maiden!

We reluctantly packed up the tents at the beach. My friends are at a wedding this weekend and I don't like to go without them, seems rude IYSWIM. We are holding out for one last camp in September at a beautiful site about 10 miles down the road. We've managed to end the season there for the last couple of years so fingers crossed.

Hmm, I like the sound of a man with 'awesome dunkle seite'

scaryt · 31/08/2011 21:08

Oh yes, Seashells, morris dancers are permanently half cut!!

lost - I really need to find a friend with a field (oh yes, and some other friends to camp with, real or otherwise I'm not fussy)

YellowDinosaur · 31/08/2011 21:21

Goodness gracious me!!! I thought we were chatty last night! Not caught up yet - off to get a pen and paper before I even attempt to catch up [grain]

YellowDinosaur · 31/08/2011 21:46

lovecat I have 3 cats although only 1 is not too lazy to try and catch a mouse! I'm liking Sals suggestion of the vomit inducing strawberry baileys as an icecream topping!

Reshape hats off to you for managing camping with such small children. And a festival too!!! You are completely f*cking nuts hardcore! Sorry the weather wasn't great but sounds like you managed to have fun! Pmsl at your pic of ds2 'it takes approx 6.4 secs to reach the dried cow pat' GrinGrin. Festyboy is super cool too! MisSal I have to same filthy mind as you as I too sniggered to myself at reshape admiring your hole [grain]

Pmsl at 'It's been autumnal all bloody august. Not sure why I'm angry at that, there's no point, is there? I mean, WHO do you complain to about the shitey weather if you're an atheist? Actually, that's a thing - could any believers among us please send up a formal complaint?' GrinGrinGrin You are on form tonight reshape!!!

Brambles great news about your dad. But OUTDOOR POOL??? Are you crazy? Or is it sunny and warm over your way? I have been considering putting the heating on for the first time this year as its proper cold here in Newcastle!!

Losty I am with you on the no festivals thing. It all sounds great (went to Reading as a teenager and loved it) but the sad reality is that I would probably hate it! With you too on small sleep pods being nice and warm and that trumping a pretty bell tent. Christ I am an old fart aren't I?

Glad you got paid Seashells and not fired!!! Smile Hurrah for gin in a tin too!!! [grain]

MisSal how lovely of you to share your experiences of epilepsy to help bramble when its obviously very personal for you. I can assure you I won't treat you differently when we meet up and I am sure noone else will either. Sorry it pissed on your camping weekend but sounds like it was a good move to go home - camping is fab but if lots of sleep is what helps you certainly can't rely on that in a tent can you?

lovecat your afternoon sounds like a lot of fun although I am sure it was very frustrating! Are there anymore medical things you need as I might be able to aquire them for you!

Slubber I love the European salad thing with meat meat and more meat on a lettuce leaf! I remember veggie friends trying to order salad in France and it arrived with gizzards on which even me as a pretty hard core meat eater wasn't that keen on!!

Well I am sure you will all be relieved to hear that I didn't smel of stale wine at work today! Pretty busy it was too (finally!) so a hangover would NOT have helped! Not drinking tonight - not sure why actually. Very tired and alcohol doesn't usually help with that. Did last night though so maybe I'll crack a gin in a tin too in a min... Off to see how many I have cross posted with now!

lostinwales · 31/08/2011 21:57

You've scared them all off yellow [grain]

I have just been reading the long thread about Gentle Otters plight. I've been following her blog for a while now and I can't believe that people live like this in the UK today. She also has a fabulous way with words.
