Anyone want to join me in losing weight?

Mrsramsayscat · 30/06/2018 10:18

I lost weight last year and more the year before. But having fallen off the wagon a bit lately, I now need to lose another stone to get back into my BMI (health reasons).

Anyone care to join me?

Welcome @comforte & well done on your loss!

Well done to everyone else too!

I did my second weigh in on Friday, lost 4lb so that was 9lb in 12 days!

However, i was at a concert all afternoon & evening Saturday where the only option was crap food. i only ate what i had to, i didn't splurge but i am expecting a 'stay the same' on the scales this Friday as normally 1 bad day halts any progress in my body for a couple of weeks :(

Cheeseandapple · 17/07/2018 09:31

@RedPony1 well done - sounds like you've been very resolute!

I've managed a few decent workouts this week and been better about eating a lot more veg and not snacking. 4lbs down in total now - 3 more and I can book my hair cut! 🙌🏻

How's everyone else getting on?

RedPony1 · 17/07/2018 09:33

Fab!! Well done!!

annandale · 18/07/2018 08:25

Some amazing losses, keep.going all.

I've just weighed in at 92.1 - still losing slowly - if I have a reasonable day I might measure as overweight not obese tomorrow - want that 91 at the start. I know I'm fitter and stronger.

Mrsramsayscat · 18/07/2018 16:51

That's really good news, Annnandale. Fitter helps, doesn't it?
I was away as a houseguest at the weekend and appear to have gained two of the three pounds I lost in week 1 😩. Never mind, onwards and upwards!

Well done everyone else, too. Every ounce helps, as does every reformed habit.

Can I join please?!
I weighed myself this evening and was 65.9kg. I'm hoping to get to 60kg as a start and maybe 57... but I'm finding it so hard to get very far that I'm not very confident I can do it!

I want to be fit and healthy and to enjoy food without being obsessed by it, or out of control! So I'm hoping by joining a group that I would find a bit of order and sanity, and hopefully lose those extra through making better, more considered choices.

I've been pretty close to where I'd like to be before, but I struggle to remain consistent, and then I fall into the self-sabotage thing. I suspect that's because I try too hard, and want results too quickly, then it all ends in an 'I've blown it' mentally when I seem to lose all control. So that is the cycle I'd like to break!

angieishere · 19/07/2018 01:07

I've been searching and searching. Some say drinking cold water helps, others say waking up later in the day helps...but to be honest, drinking 'cold water' doesn't really make sense to me..and I don't have the luxury of waking up later to postpone my meals. I guess the body does require more calories to warm up the cold water, which sort of turbocharges the metabolic system, but I feel as though the results would be insignificant. Dr. Miller pretty much describes healthy eating and healthy snacks: thehealthlotus.wordpress.com/2018/07/17/best-choices-for-better-health/ . Would fiber-packed foods be of help in the night? Should I eat more fiber the night before so I wont be hungry in the morning?

RedPony1 · 19/07/2018 11:05

I read you should eat protein later at night, as that keeps you fuller longer - maybe a couple of boiled eggs?!
I also do not have the luxury of getting up later, my day starts at 5am and i've eaten my breakfast by 5:15... after that i dont sit down until 8:30am so i can't have a later breakfast, i'd be starving!! I do drink 4 medium bottles of cold water a day though

Well done @annandale keep at it! Fitter is good!

@Mrsramsayscat it's just a bump in the road, you are still 1lb lighter than the week before Smile

Welcome @rushka, i've just broken the 'ive blown it' mentality somehow, something just clicked and i thought I HAVE TO DO THIS! So you can too!

rushka · 19/07/2018 16:59

Thanks for the encouragement @RedPony1!

I'm only managing to vaguely calorie count today (Day1!) How strict are you all on recording? At least I've been aware of what I'm eating, and that has been good.
I'm really trying to do this in a gentle way, and so I don't intend to cut my calories too severely. Those of you on 1200, I don't know how you do it!

I am definitely peckish right now, but I'm going to drink a tonne of water and wait until supper - I had a snack when I came in from the school run, so now it's time to wait it out!

RedPony1 · 20/07/2018 08:58

I am very strict on what i record. But then i also try to eat things i don't have to weigh because i hate being in the kitchen.

It was weigh day this morning, i stayed the same. My body is one of those where 1 bad day in a week stops all progress (i went to a gig on Saturday afternoon/eve and ate what i could but it was all bad and i estimated around 4000 calories for the day) I've stuck to 1200/1300 calories all week with my normal 3 days that i ran too, and no loss.

Must kick on though! Got to lose a stone by 18th August, more if possible! 5lb to my first stone....

nervousseacreature · 20/07/2018 12:28

I’ve been using MyFitnessPal and trying to stick to 1200 per day. I am fairly strict on what I record but it’s not too hard as I’ve stopped having snacks and I have the same breakfast every day.

Re 1200 a day, I usually have yoghurt, fruit and granola for breakfast, then a veggie soup for lunch (I’m vegetarian, I like the Baxter’s veggie range, they’re around 200 ish cals for a tin). For tea I’ve been having lots of salad stuff with protein (eggs, falafels, quote etc) and a little serving of carbs. Nice in the summer but not so appealing in the middle of winter!!

nervousseacreature · 20/07/2018 12:31

Also I’ve been having one day off, usually sat/sun where I don’t count but don’t go bananas eating. We’ve had a few bbqs and parties to go to so almost impossible to count at them - I try to enjoy the food but still be aware of what I’m eating

annandale · 20/07/2018 18:42

Strict recording plus exercise does work for me. Not much else does.

Today 91.6 - down into overweight not obese bmi. I've been here before so am not celebrating too hard but it's good as far as it goes. Next I want to get an 8 at the start. ..

Cliveybaby · 22/07/2018 16:38

Hi can I join too?
I started using MFP last sunday, and have lost 4lb so far! (started at 12,4, want to be 10,4 for my wedding in december)

I'm kind of getting the hang of how many calories are in stuff... there have been some surprises!
I like logging my lunch and dinner early in the day, so I know what I have left for snacks.
Today I walked to the swimming pool and swum for 40 mins so I treated myself to a magnum!

Cliveybaby · 22/07/2018 16:39

I am finding it really irritating that all the units are american though - I don't know what a "stick" of butter is?!

MaryBoBary · 22/07/2018 18:36

Hi ladies,

I’m a bit late to the party but started my dues on 5th July.

I’m 28, 5 ft 3 and currently 11 stone 4. I want to lose about 2 stone of baby weight that’s been hanging (literally) around for 2 years.

I started the couch to 5k app (just finished week 3) and I’m trying to run 4/5 times per week.

With regards to calories, in tracking everything I eat and am averaging out at about 1200 calories per day. I’d like to get this lower but really can’t afford to buy much more fruit and veg. It’s frustrating when you can buy 1 mango for £1 and it’s about 2 portions, or a 6 pack of crisps for £1!! I’m determined to lose the weight this time. I want to get healthy and have a second baby following 2 miscarriages this year. It’s also going to help my mental health. I will keep checking in here as some sort of accountability will help massively!

Veggie curry for dinner tonight which I’m really looking forward to!

annandale · 22/07/2018 19:05

Mary I know what you mean about fruit and veg costs. Carrots are always my friend I have to say, and tbh there are a few ripe blackberries already this year Shock so over the next few weeks it would be worth picking/eating/stewing/freezing a lot.

rushka · 22/07/2018 21:22

Really motivating to read all your posts, and you've convinced me that strict recording is necessary! I've done it before, it just feels such a faff! But I'm being so lax right now it's no wonder I'm not getting anywhere... I really cannot imagine having only 1200 calories!!! Tomorrow I shall aim for 1500 and see how I go!
I think my main thing is to cut out sugar and alcohol. This will be my goal for the week!
Well done everyone :)

RedPony1 · 23/07/2018 13:14

Well done all the newbies & welcome to the journey!

MaryBoBary · 23/07/2018 15:22

@annandale you’re right - need to get foraging!!!

nervousseacreature · 24/07/2018 06:46

Weigh in this morning and down to 65.4kg so lost 3kg in total. Would like to get to 63kg so under 10stone.

I’m definitely finding it easier to stick to 1200 ish cals now I’m used to it and not craving quite so much junk food

annandale · 26/07/2018 07:14

That's really great nervous. I do find losing weight easier in the summer, most people do i guess, lots of delicious light food available.

I hit 90.3 this morning. Still heading downwards, really hoping to get below 90 some time in the next few days. I can now squeeze into a few size 16 things and do them up with effort but they don't look good yet!

m0therofdragons · 26/07/2018 19:55

@rushka I started low carb a few weeks back and log on mfp to help plan my meals. I'm not calorie counting as such but I find that I'm comfortably around 1200 calories naturally by doing this diet but by cooking courgette in butter for example the flavours are good and I'm eating decent sized portions and cheese.

annandale · 30/07/2018 07:11

Ahhhhh!!!! I hit 89.9 this morning after a very careful day yesterday. Am really, really pleased. So am heading down towards 14 stone.

Sadly I did get down to this weight about a year ago, so I know that it gets harder at this level to actually lose the weight and it's easy to climb back up again. But never mind - am looking forward to my exercise class later which will help with keeping it off. Next I want to get under 88.5 which would take me under 14 stone...

FuckingHateRats · 30/07/2018 17:56

Please may I join?

I came back from my holiday on the 9th July and have been calorie counting since. Been using MFP and have lost 7lb since then. Still want to lose another stone.

Really need to check in and be accountable in some way!.
