Unusual ways and places to breastfeed.. Where have you?

I thought i'd start this as I am finding that i am ending up feeding ds2 inj all sorts of places and situations that i never thought i would or could.

Latest one was on a walk through the forest, had to head back to get ds1 from school and so had to feed on the go. My friend took pic as she thought was one for the album! I managed not to crash the buggy either and ds2 fell asleep!

Have fed many times in shops now, sat on display sofa or when sorting blind order. Fed in school playground when he was tiny (that wasnt good.. lots of little ones asking lots of questions and ds2 got upset)
Fed sat on many benches, logs, pieces of grass. Often in the car (stationary ). In the bath every night almost too.

I never thought would have the confidence i do now but as he has gotten older i have got more confidence as well.

Also he does acrobatics now, climbing on me whilst attached.. ouch.

Loving it though

Me leaning over dd in car seat - we were on our way to catch a plane and traffic was awful, so really couldn't stop... (I wasn't driving though!).

Sitting on a bench outside the Notre Dame.

While talking to the service guy at the garage

Grendle · 13/03/2009 00:01

In a cemetary, at a funeral, in the work canteen... wherever really .

Miamla · 13/03/2009 00:11

FAQinglovely · 13/03/2009 00:12

playing the organ at church. (and the piano - but that was a little trickier, DS3 wasn't keen on "milkshake" )

I'm now thinking we should compile a list of 101 breastfeeding experiences every mum should try... feeding up the Eiffel tower should definitely feature . After all, I've got a good few years left to go and it'd be good to have some funny little targets to aim at... or am I just weird ?

I have breastfed in meetings - one board meeting - I had another one but I've forgotten it. I'll get back to you

On buses, aeroplanes, trains, boats etc. The one that really sticks in my mind was the extremly crowded boat train to Harwich: I managed to get a seat, but dd's feet were up by the next passenger's ears and there was no room to move my elbow.

Winchester cathedral. Museums. The office. Shops. Various cold and blowy hills.

noolia · 13/03/2009 08:33

A woodland burial ground.

My best friend breastfed my daughter at another friend's wedding once- how radical is that?

Church, obviously. Buses. Aeroplanes. Samaria Gorge in Crete whilst hiking down.

CMOTDibbler · 13/03/2009 08:42

On a pedalo in the middle of the lake

In a meeting with my boss during what was supposed to be my 'going on maternity leave' meeting - DS was 2 weeks old, and it was what should have been 3 weeks before my due date.

On a steam train

Walking around an agricultural show

In the bath (lots)

Bending over the changing mat at the swimming pool whilst I tried to get my pants and skirt on

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 13/03/2009 08:56

Las Palmas airport
Barcellona airport
Marseille airport
Gatwick airport
And all the aeroplanes in between those destinations obv.

Gap train station in the French Alps
On a bench in the middle of the snow in those same Alps
At my gran's wake
In the French conuslate in Las Palmas

Though mostly I prefer the comfort of home.

mrsgboring · 13/03/2009 08:59

In the ruins of St Ninian's church, St Ninian's Isle.

Many boats, trains and buses. At a work retirement do. Everywhere really.

Miamla · 13/03/2009 10:55

steaky i love your comment "Though mostly I prefer the comfort of home"

MamaHobgoblin · 13/03/2009 11:08

I actually keep a file on my computer listing all the places I've fed DS! My favourite odd location has to be inside a birdwatching hide in the Kilgerran wetlands nature reserve, near Cardigan. And the cloisters of a Portuguese monastery comes second, for sheer atmosphere.

Bettymum · 13/03/2009 11:08

Windsor racecourse
The summit of Tourmalet in the Pyrenees, in the fog
With DD kind of hidden under the table in the pub

Bouncy castle - it was in friend's garden and all the other children had gone off to get drinks/food - then they came back
DS was about 10mths and thought it was brilliant - serious milkshake

Dreamergirl · 13/03/2009 11:41

Loads of places. Cafes, mothercare did a feeding room once, parks and friends houses.

I still remember one coment from a women in a cafe. You should feed in the toilets, I asked her if she would have her tea in there sshe said no, why should my baby then.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 13/03/2009 11:44

The one I am most proud of is 'while steering a narrowboat'.

I did it while going down a slide once, which was utterly accidental - I was following dd round the play area while carrying ds and hadn't even noticed I was feeding him.

CherryChoc · 13/03/2009 12:32

Well DS only 5 months so not much opportunity yet for odd places but unusual or unexpected that I can think of:

In bed (together) in hospital when he was first born (as in co-sleeping)

On a stool meant for trying on shoes in Matalan

On the "bored husbands chair" outside changing rooms in Sainsbury's clothes section (not sure why I didn't just go into the cafe!!)

On the floor, lots of times

On a moving bus

In a rocking chair with DS having a cuddle standing up (latched himself on!)

In a meeting (tbf an informal one!)

anythingbutpink · 13/03/2009 12:54

on a mini steam train going through ruislip woods in november - dd was only 1 month!
And lots of other places too...

longwayfromhome · 13/03/2009 15:54

in the garden of the residence of the British Ambassador

(it was a Christmas fete and we had paid to go in and have a nosy round, but the anecdote sounds better if I leave this bit out)
