Why I love bottlefeeding............

with all of these debates about why people 'love' breastfeeding, why it's best and why people 'don't' want to Bf I reckon it's time for a "Why I love bottlefeeding" thread.

Before anyone starts I've had one of each - a BF for 14 months and a bottlefed from birth (BF was my first baby)

  1. I can continue my 'life' - ie I can keep doing my director of music job without worrying about trying to express and (in the case of DS1) worrying about whether DS take milk from the bottle

  2. DH can feed him

  3. He's a happy healthy baby and I'm a healthy (not always so happy at the moment but that's different story) mummy

  4. If I leave him with someone and forget to leave enough milk all they have to do is go to the shop

I'll do more in a minute - DS2 needs to sleep now

Also had a bit of a bad experience with NCT counsellor - although husband says it was because I was being a total troll at the time and therefore it's probably more to do with me. But her attitude was that as I had "allowed" ds to have formula while I was out cold I had probably blown it and anything she could do to help was "damage limitation". On the plus side I think her negativity was the spur that made me determined to stick it out, just to be a b*gger.

Do you think it might ever be possible to have a bottle feeding thread purely for and by bottle feeders without some sanctimonious smug smart arse breast feeder who simply cannot live with themselves without having to continually preach about the virtues of breast feeding?

tiktok · 01/03/2005 20:10

Polina - complain!! That's a horrible expression to use, and a shitty way to 'help' or 'support' someone : (

bunny2 · 01/03/2005 20:15

Trifle- lol - unfortunately no I dont think it is possible. Too many judgemental types out there

hi Lockets - Trifle. Some of the responses on here have been rather unpleasant and I can see where she was coming from.

Gwenick · 01/03/2005 20:32

Thanks MN - I'm not usually one for censorship but that really did go too far.

LOL Bunny - guess there's nothing decent to watch on telly tonight then...

bunny2 · 01/03/2005 20:37

I know Lockets - most posters here are fine whatever their opinion and one shouldnt generalise.

bunny2 · 01/03/2005 20:38

jodee ... dh has bought a new telly and I cant work it ... he, meanwhile, has fallen asleep!

Gwenick · 01/03/2005 20:41
