For obvious reasons have changed my name, but how would you feel getting this letter. I assume he found my address by googling my name and location. He also gave his name and address which I haven't googled, too scared in case he is some kind of nut!! Anyway here it is

Dear TheGodmother

I read with great interest about the article regarding breastfeeding. My views are quite liberal. When the subject comes up, I often ask if anyone is offended by seeing a cow milked by a farmer. The answer is no, the only difference is the "animal" that produces it.

The he goes on a couple of paragraphs about woman wearing short skirts and would much rather see a woman feeding a baby, so that the baby get the goodness he needs from milk.

Then he goes on to say - If I get sexually aroused about by seeing breasts in public, then it?s my problem and not the problem of the woman concerned.

As a man I could easily have took advantage of the situation like some pervert and say something like....

I just watch breastfeeding woman and stare and enjoy the site. It's like a cross between page 3 and watching Carry on film. Sometimes I take pictures and after I have started about 5 mins, I start to have a stiff down below, I take advantage of this by putting my hands in my pocket and then I adjust my...

..but I'm not that sort of person. I respect the beliefs of other people. I am glad that you are no longer shy to breastfeed in public.

Thanks for reading this letter and I wish you luck in the future

That is freaky.

I would keep it in case you get anything else from him - sorry.

Don't contact him.

beansprout · 15/06/2007 15:07

It's just horrible. It's why so many women don't like to feed in public, as they fear they will be subjected to the male sexual gaze. If he doesn't think those things, why does he feel the need to write them down?

Can we all go round to his house and have a word?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 15/06/2007 15:07

that's not right.

escape · 15/06/2007 15:07

MAYBE it is simply a horribly misguided message of support... perhaps ...(?)

indiasmum · 15/06/2007 15:08

OH MY GOD

def not charming, he was prob having a good tug as he wrote it thinking of you reading it.

i think you should report him personally. dont know who to though?! and he put his name and address on the letter? what a bonkers perv!

Angeliz · 15/06/2007 15:08

He's a bit graphic on the person he's not (all that i could do this)

Very odd!

NineUnlikelyTales · 15/06/2007 15:10

Police.

beansprout · 15/06/2007 15:10

I would asking the biggest, scariest bloke I could find to go round and pretend to be your dh and have a word.

TiggernPooh2 · 15/06/2007 15:13

I think I would be a but disturbed if I got that letter. But as has been said maybe just some wierd letter of support.

Keep it just in case and hope he never contacts you again!!

Quite odd.

Keep up bfing in public though.

Aitch · 15/06/2007 15:13

'fraid i agree with indiasmum. you get weirdos if you're in the papers. just make sure you're not googleable in future.

Bouncingturtle · 15/06/2007 15:14

Scary, scary and he knows where you live...

fireflyfairy2 · 15/06/2007 15:14

Take it to the police!

Personally I would be freaked out that he knew my name & address!!

Aitch · 15/06/2007 15:14

oh, have just read more. agree with her about the tug. not the reporting... who would you report it to?

Pennies · 15/06/2007 15:15

God, I'd google him big time just incase thre is something else you should know.

Aitch · 15/06/2007 15:15

do you think? hmmm. well, i suppose it wouldn't do any harm to have it logged, in case anything else happens. but it probably won't, tbh.

Pennies · 15/06/2007 15:15

Not a pleasant letter IMO. Def something else going there under the guise of support.

blueshoes · 15/06/2007 15:16

Definite perv. He is trying to put you off, while sounding supportive, just to confuse you. V manipulative.

Google his name and address (may not be real anyway). Don't respond.

lissie · 15/06/2007 15:16

need to take it to the police. v odd that he knows your name and address.

TheGodmother · 15/06/2007 15:17

Luckily I had actually moved and letter had been forwarded, so he can't find me!! But there are some weirdos in the world. I don't think I'll take it to the Police, but I'll keep hold of it, just in case.

But giving your name and address....weird...

police.this is NOT a strange attempt at support.
more like an attempt to frighten you and gratify his odd urges.

foxybrown · 15/06/2007 15:18

I think its creepy. But no more than that.

If it were me, I'd take a copy to my local police and ask them to keep it on record.

TiggernPooh2 · 15/06/2007 15:21

Glad you have moved so know he can't find you but how odd he put his name and address. You would think if it was dodgy he may not want to be found.

Maybe worth dropping a copy into the local police to see what they think though.

bumperlicious · 15/06/2007 15:23

That is not supportive at all. In any normal letter there would have been no need to write all the pervy stuff, he is getting thrills from it but obviously thinks he is doing it in an appropriate way. Also if he was really offering support he could have written to the newspaper. Not appropriate to contact you.

Google yourself to see how he found your address and where ever it is published request that they remove it.

Do not reply to him. Keep the letter as evidence and perhaps mention it to the police.

TheGodmother · 15/06/2007 15:25

Just googled his name and there is a lot of "normal" postings to local websites and newpapers from a man with the same name and from the same area. I'd love to give you the name but I might be accusing an innocent man.
