The coolest public breastfeeding ever...

Today we went to a farm park and there is an adventure playground bit - I saw a toddler come down a giant slide, followed by a mum with babe in arms... who was breastfeeding! I was so impressed and I told her so. Later I saw the same lady and another breastfeeding in the sandpit, so I joined them and I have to say it is lovely breastfeeding in public when you're not the only one. So what's the coolest breastfeeding you have seen/done? I think the giant slide deserves a medal - wouldn't fancy it with my big girl now as any excitement and she spins her head round taking my nipple with it.. ouch.

p.s - I love the LO having a slurp of icecream and all the other wonderful stories of babies being fed as they should anytime, any place, anywhere.

I've breastfed everywhere. I used to breastfeed on the bus and on the front row in church.

Of course when I had the DTs I only breastfed at home or in friends houses. There was no way (that I knew) to bf the DTs discreetly. If only I had discovered those gorgeous slings. Sigh.................

I already had dd1 so got good at getting up and down with dd2 latched n, inc answering doors etc. You do what ya gotta.

DD2 was such a star tho. Not much would take her away from the precious booby.
Or still......but like someone said, she's so nosy now (8 mths) that she's always whipping her head and taking nipple with her. They don't stretch that far FGS. TWANG.....OUCH.

I bf at my best friends wedding. Afterwards a rather stern looking woman came up to me and asked if I was the one that people had seen bfing in the church - I was all ready to stand my round if she was going to complain but she then asked me loads of q's as her d had just had a baby and was having trouble establishing a routine.

on a sling while touring caves in southern italy. we were video recording and because of the vaulted ceilings and the eco you can hear 2m old DD slurping away!

Only a park today but have previously had to feed in Argos at Xmas while waiting for all the stuff to arrive

Also fed ds1 while standing in the playground witing for the girls to come out of school. Its quite funny when people come over to say hello then realise you are feeding

I have bf my 1 yo ds during a job interview. Got the job. One of the interviewers, whose dc were a bit older than mine said "Ah, takes me back!"

i have b/f in the park, in a car park, at a family party, in cafes etc. not too worried. only place i have reservations about is church- still not sure what to do on easter sunday

Went to Perth races when dd was just 6weeks old.
Only chair in loos was occupied, so went into bar, where there was not a seat to be had.
Leaned up against wall, whipped out a nork, dd latched on like a good'un and I had a chair about 10 seconds later

Just do it. God made your boobs after all. It's only natural and all that. I've done it everywhere, inc a wake. on a train, every cafe I went in when she was little. Loads of places.

Glassslipper - "Suffer the little children to come unto me." Jesus loves children and will be delighted if you bf in His house. Tell Him I said so if any argy bargy.

Iggle, LOL. Good for whoever gave up their chair for you.

oh and I bfed whilst going round an exhibition in the Royal Academy with my dad.

i know you are right of course.....it's just the one place i turn chicken.

BF ds2 while driving through the lion enclosure at Longleat last autumn. And yes, I was "driving". We were actually barely moving (hence needing to feed!).

No hesitation at all about feeding in church, glassslipper. But then, there are loads of bf-ing mums at our church, so there's no fear of being singled out.

bfing a 3 month old dd sitting on the ground in a strawberry field in northumberland. munching them straight from the plant on a balmy july summer's evening that you wish would go on forever.

have never bf in a really cool place like the slide!!!!! but once in a restraunt after feeding ds at about 5 mos an american lady came up to congratulate me on bf in public!!!! maybe shed never seen it done before????

kiskidee - your strawberry one sounds straight from heaven! I bet you will remember that forever (sigh)

I felt good bf-ing my baby in a sling whilst pusing my children around a muddy festival in a wheelbarrow.

I know what you mean about bfing in public when other people are. It's a great feeling isn't it? That's one reason I love festivals. It's completely unremarkable to see women walking around bfing toddlers. I feel totally comfortable and unjudged there.

also bf 20 mo old dd in the Louvre and remember the pleased look on the faces of one or two women who realised what we were doing.

My 'coolest' breastfeed was in the Hard Rock Cafe whilst the staff where doing their dancing on the bar, tables etc. It may not sound that impressive these days, but this is 1991 we are talking about!
