A nice shiny new thread!

Thanks everyone for the support. Atleast you guys understand. Nobody on DP's side of the family bf so they don't have a clue what they're talking about and upset me in the process :(

Funchum I've been putting ds in his sleepsuit without a vest and light grobag. I've put him in a thicker one tonight though cos it's too bloody warm in the bedroom and I'm waking up sweating every night so I've got the window open.

Emilythornesbff · 23/04/2013 21:53

Hello. Bedtime feed here.
funch I was just thinking the same about bed wear. Too warm for grow bag surely but I think she likes the feel of it around her.
Well, when she's actually in her' cot. Grin

abi and larle what are people like with their "advice"? I can remember real pressure from my mother some quarters to give ds solids before 6 months. I think ppl can feel very defensive about it because if you do tings differently from the way they did then it's like you're saying they were crap mothers! I wonder what the previous generation were pressured to do by their DMs nd MILs.
Glad you have a good HV larle

Anyway fuck that, let's all try and get some sleep.
Nighty night
Em.

abi2790 · 23/04/2013 22:08

Why is it that as soon as I manage to drift off to sleep ds wakes up? :( I'm predicting another bad night's sleep. He went down at around 7:30 and woke up about 15 mins ago. I think he's in pain with teething. He's been crying in his sleep and woke up crying too. I've given calpol and teething gel. Can anyone recommend any teething remedies?

Ugghh, my eyes are burning with sleepiness :(

larlemucker · 23/04/2013 22:17

Anbesol liquid abi, doesn't rub off like the gel and contains a local anaesthetic. Unless you want to go earth mother, apparently an amber necklace helps!!

tea do you have an ameda lactiline? How do you sterilise it?

Took an hour to get baby larle to sleep tonight, multiple transfer fails but not as much sick as last night!!!

Good luck for tonight ladies!!

abi2790 · 23/04/2013 22:31

Where can I get the anbesol from larle? Not seen it before I don't think.

TeaandHobnobs · 23/04/2013 22:58

larle I put the flanges, valves, rubbery cylinder bits that go in the too and bottles (and lids) in my steam steriliser - although not every time, if I remember to wash everything out with hot water right after I've used it, I leave it at that and lay it on a clean towel to dry.

Have you got any kind of steriliser? Even a microwave one? You can boil things in a saucepan but you need something to place the items on, so they don't come into contact with the bottom of the saucepan (or they may melt).

larlemucker · 23/04/2013 23:16

Any pharmacy will sell it abi

Thanks tea, I emailed ameda and they said not to use a steam steriliser but I thought that I'd you can boil the parts then surely they can go in the steriliser!

I'm knackered. Been asleep for 30 mins and DS has woken up crying Hmm

larlemucker · 23/04/2013 23:43

Just starting to dose off and he wakes again. How do they know??Hmm

MrsNPattz · 24/04/2013 00:30

Up time here, settled quickly after Calpol and teething powder - may try this Anbesol you speak of! Attempting transfer in T-5!!

Great night last night Tea but what rotten luck that you couldn't benefit from it - get well soon!

SoYo · 24/04/2013 01:57

I was so hoping that lasts nights earlier feed was a one off but no. How can she do the same or better stretch for 2 weeks then start getting worse again. Soul destroying.

abi2790 · 24/04/2013 02:48

Ds has woken up crying again :( I've given him teething gel but I bet it just washed off as soon as I fed him. He's going back to sleep now thankfully.

MrsNPattz · 24/04/2013 03:25

Up again and again has settled quickly with teething powder and rocking, just waiting before attempting transfer. When is this waking every two hours going to end Hmm

OP posts:
larlemucker · 24/04/2013 03:30

We're up again with one very hungry baby. He has gone 3.5 hours between feeds but it doesn't feel like it!!
soyo baby larle was the same. We've had 6 hours overnight between feeds, you think you've cracked it and then they start waking up again!!

MrsNPattz · 24/04/2013 03:50

Transfer fail

OP posts:
Anypants · 24/04/2013 04:19

First feed here.- thought I was going to get away with a quick 10 minute snack but missy had second thoughts and has now had a bum change and is back on the boob.

TeaandHobnobs · 24/04/2013 04:26

Hmm that is weird, isn't it larle? I wonder if they thought lots of steam sterilising might age the components too quickly - but surely boiling would do the same, and they instructions say do that once a day? And for me, the steam steriliser was much safer than boiling!

I can't see a problem with generally wash in hot soapy water, rinsing with hot water then leaving to dry, and just doing the occasional sterilise to be sure that it is all super clean.

Lying here awake debating whether I should take more painkillers - I'd been alternating every two hours (so taking each every 4 hours) but then I thought actually there's a limit to what you should have over a 24 hr period isn't there? So now I'm worrying I've exceeded that Confused

larlemucker · 24/04/2013 05:05

They say to boil before first use then if you need to sterilise use Milton but I'd rather steam. Once a week can't damage too much!!

On the painkiller front paracetamol max is 8 in 24 hours and ibuprofen is normally 6 in 24 hours but depends whether you're taking 200 or 400mg. If you're still in pain get some co-codamol and take them instead of the paracetamol. You can still take the ibuprofen.

TeaandHobnobs · 24/04/2013 05:18

Thanks larle I hadn't thought of co-codamol! That's what I took last time I had tonsillitis. Will go get some in the morning (or perhaps just later this morning Hmm)

MrsNPattz · 24/04/2013 08:32

Up time here, fed at half 5 in with me, then again at half 7 and awake again now zzzzzzzz

OP posts:
Babybeesmama · 24/04/2013 09:13

Meh crappy night here, as usual. I wish the other tooth would just hurry up & come through. I have a headache as I had x2 glasses of wine last night Confused.

Tea hope you feel better soon tonsillitis is horrid def try co codamol. I found ibuprofen was only thing that helped when I had it. ThanksBrew Are U on antibiotics?

Baby bee still has a cough, I'm unsure whether to go back to GP but I know they will say 'it's viral' Confused x

MrsNPattz · 24/04/2013 09:30

And now I've had a 'text row' with my idiotic husband who is feeling sorry for himself as he is getting a cold again and it's because he's 'popped'! He then said that I have times in the day where I can sit and relax and he doesn't!!!!!!

OP posts:
MrsNPattz · 24/04/2013 10:20

And now I just found out that my rabbits are being rehomed tonight. I know it's for the best because we just can't look after them like they need, but I feel really sad and guilty Sad

OP posts:
TeaandHobnobs · 24/04/2013 11:30

Oh MrsN that is very sad Sad have a (((hug))). Don't feel guilty though, you are doing a great thing for them if they are going somewhere where they will be loved. It is really hard looking after pets when you have a small baby - at least my cat is relatively self-sufficient, although he is definitely suffering with receiving less attention.

Thanks babybeesmama I started on the penicillin yesterday so hopefully that will start to show a difference by tomorrow. Having a restful day today as well (as restful as DS will permit anyway) so hope that helps. I have stuff planned on Friday and Saturday for DS' 1st birthday, so I want to feel better for that!

Oh and MrsN for your DH - they have NO idea, do they?!

GoatBongosAnonymous · 24/04/2013 12:24

tea I hope you feel lots better soon, that sounds horrible! And re minitea not moving yet, I have found with BG that now he is at childminder's with two slightly older babies, he is doing better with hand coordination as he copies them. Unfortunately they are both creative souls so I dread to think some of the things he will pick up!!

And Hmm to your DH saying about the moments to relax mrsn - I was just thinking this morning that being at work is easier because I can at least take a brain break, plus I have some physical space which makes it all less draining. Tell him don't knock it till he's done it!

abi2790 · 24/04/2013 13:34

I know how you feel MrsN :( I have two house rabbits that we are looking for a new home for. I just don't have the time for them anymore. Before ds came along they could roam outside of their cage but now they have to stay in because I can't keep an eye on them. I feel really bad for them :( it's really hard to find a home for them though.
