Ps despite the sleep deprivation & wanting him to sleep through I still feel its going far too quick! Trying to relish all these lovely moment, just snuggling him on the bed whilst he's asleep after bottle kissing his hair. He's so perfect! Xx

MrsNPattz · 09/02/2013 21:23

Hello all, that's me and little man come to bed - it's not fair keeping him up any longer and it's so loud! He has been so good, but I have found it quite tiring and stressful, and this will sound stupid but I have felt like a 'mum' for the first time since having him! And I have missed drinking so bad today for the first time too. It's been a lovely day, and I wouldn't change him for the world - but it's been a totally different experience than a 'pre-mummy' wedding! I'm very happy to be upstairs just us too, him having a sleepy feed and just cuddling up to him.

Hope you all have a good night - no doubt I will have a drunk, snoring hubby to contend with at some point!!

MrsNPattz · 09/02/2013 22:33

4 transfer fails and he's back on the boob - I don't know what's wrong, I don't know if it's the cot but then I just tried to lie down on the bed with him and the same thing happened. He just starts really crying until I pick him up. I want to go home Sad

larlemucker · 09/02/2013 22:58

Oh mrsn hope he settles down and you get some sleep soon.

Baby larle has hardly napped today so has slept this eve meaning he is only just getting his nighttime top up bottle. Wish he would nap more during the day, he had massive bags under his eyes this eve. Went to my sisters today, her dd is 7 and baby larle loves her, never seen him smile so much it was so cute.

Small hope you have a better night tonight.

Amey, so lovely when they snuggle up to you. Makes (some) of the sleepless nights worthwhile!!!

Hoping for a good nights sleep for everyone

MrsNPattz · 09/02/2013 23:31

Hubby came and got him settled but a door closing has just woken him. I can see me driving home at 2am at this rate Blush

funchum8am · 10/02/2013 00:31

argh mrsn how are you getting on? hope you haven't had to drive home but if it did I hope he sleeps ok once there Sad Sad

Babyfunch was baptized and the priest said she was an angel, so it is official then Grin. ie he has never had her overnight! She was a star though, very little crying despite ceremony being at nap time.

My family kinda stalked us, and came and joined us in the pub with our school/uni mates after dinner which was just madly weird but somehow all was quite funny....now home and hoping babyfunch will sleep ok as we are both tired and possibly a bit pissed.

Sprinkling sleepy dust to one and all!

BrainGoneAwol · 10/02/2013 00:43

Hmm, heff I hope it improves before then, I'm a bit at the end of my tether.

Lol, funch, that's clearly the way to deal with fil.

small and amey I'm with you there. It seems the majority of babies sleep better than babybrain Sad. I absolutely want to feed on demand, not leave him to cry etc, but it's getting harder and harder to drag myself out of bed. I don't know whether to wake dp to settle him and try to wean him off so many night feeds... I also feel irrationally guilty about waking dp. Does anyone else feel like that?

mrsn poor you and ds both. Being in a strange place with all different sounds and smells is hard on them.

On a different note babybrain was being hilarious earlier. He took ages to settle for sleep and was blowing impressive raspberries Grin He totally got the idea of copying me or dp and thought this was hysterical. I do just love his laughter Grin I know we weren't helping sleep but it clearly wasn't happening by that stage

Hoping for sleep for all of you

StitchAteMySleep · 10/02/2013 01:50

Glad babyfunch's christening went well funch Shock @ rude fil!

MrsN if you are in a strange place with strange noises he will want to be closer to you for security. If you have a top or one of dh shirts already worn with your smell on it tuck it over the cot mattress, it might help him settle if he smells your familiar smell in the strange cot.

Aw Amey snuggles are lovely.

Grin @ babybrain's raspberries, I love it when babies learn that trick, still got hilarious video of dd1 doing similar always makes me :)

Goat, stitch always waits for the fresh nappy before pooing, I am hoping that it will help her with potty training as she likes a clean bum.

Right transfer attempt 3, little minx seems to sense my attempt to move her from our bed and flails about when I try to put her into her own cot.

Smallgreenone · 10/02/2013 02:31

I love the giggles too brain, I had to video baby small the other morning when he was finding something hilarious at 5.30 am, didnt help sleep but had to be done. We're on two hourly wakings here Sad.
mrsn how is he now?
I'm wondering about night weaning too brain which is why I only feed him once at 3 but he still wakes and crys. Resettles easily but I'm still wide awake. Going to attempt half an hour of sleep before our 3am feeding.

Ameybee · 10/02/2013 03:21

Oh no mrsn! That's exactly what baby bee was like in travel cot at my mums - I just co slept in end - laid down still cuddling him and gradually slid him onto bed beside me!
It will just be a new place etc like others have said. Its hard work staying away from home! Do you have pram with you? Could try that if it gets much later xxx

MrsNPattz · 10/02/2013 03:37

We co slept til now, but as hubby has been drinking I had to move him and he woke up crying literally as his head hid the cot! Feeding now and hubby might have to sleep on the floor Blush

larlemucker · 10/02/2013 04:48

Question is small why do they giggle and smile when it's the middle of the night?
I'm struggling to keep eyes open, baby larle asleep after feeding but not deep enough to move.
Mrsn I really hope you are managing to get some sleep.
Hello to everyone else

Need to sleep!!

jemima86 · 10/02/2013 05:00

Good morning all.
My first post on MN awake with 18 day old DD in a feeding coma on me after a ridiculously short feed. Knowing as soon as she goes down she will be hungry again!

BrainGoneAwol · 10/02/2013 05:17

Well, after all that I'm on second waking which is the best we've had for weeks. Trying not to be hopeful that something has turned a corner. Maybe he read my post about night weaning!

mrsn hope you all got sleep. On the floor or otherwise...

larle quite. Middle of the night is always a time of extremes if babybrain wakes fully - either for wailing or for laughing. [hm]

small I should have recorded it one way or another. Might try a repeat later today Grin

Babybrain actually feeding fully for a change having woken less. Maybe I should take a leaf out of your book small and reduce the times I offer to feed in the night. Hmm

BrainGoneAwol · 10/02/2013 05:21

Welcome Jemima, though my sympathies that you find yourself here Hmm

Has anyone heard from our twins recently? I was talking about how on earth people cope with multiples earlier. Hope the silence is for good reasons Smile

MrsNPattz · 10/02/2013 06:56

We co slept again until now, hubby had to get back into bed from the floor as he was freezing and it woke us both. Definitely worst night in a long time. Feeding again now and I hope we can manage some more sleep. Thanks for hoping for me!

Haven't heard from the twins for a while! Hope they are all doing ok.

Welcome Jemima!

Smallgreenone · 10/02/2013 07:05

Hi jemima, welcome.
So we were up at 12.30, 2.30, 3.30, 6 and now........... I'm shattered. DH has taken him so I'm going to try and get back to sleep. Once his cold has gone I'm going to get tough as I just can't do this anymore Sad. I need some sleep and I also need someone else to be able to put him to sleep. DH tried last night but failed. Poor baby small has some sleep training coming up once his cold has gone but I do believe him and us will be happier for it once we're all getting more sleep.

GoatBongosAnonymous · 10/02/2013 07:44

Sorry to hear about all the bad nights last night - mrsn being away from home with a wakeful baby is even worse! Hope he settled eventually.
Poor Kid has a horrible cold too, so snuffled and coughed his way through the night, as well as puking most of his feed. Is now lying there looking very sorry for himself. Maybe he will sleep lots today to recover is there a pleadingly hopeful emoticon
funch hope you had a lovely day, and that you kept your FIL in line!
Welcome, Jemima.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner yesterday and I stayed awake! The restaurant was lovely and even gave us a free glass of champagne... Maybe helps that we are regulars, seem to end up there for most big events - even got engaged on the premises. As DH said, it was however slightly bizarre to have a leisurely, uninterrupted meal with no accompanying wailing commentary!

Ameybee · 10/02/2013 07:49

Welcome Jemima!

Small we had a very similar night & he didn't really even want 3am bottle so I'm getting tough soon too! X

larlemucker · 10/02/2013 08:06

Hi jemima, sorry you have had to join us!
After last post baby larle has only just woken up, not like him at all! We're normally up every hour after the first waking! Maybe he should have his bottle later.
Going to start trying to express again as I'd like to get him off the formula if possible. I know it's silly but I feel guilty giving him a top up bottle even though I think it's saved my sanity!
Sounds like you got some sleep mrsn, hope you get to catch up today

funchum8am · 10/02/2013 09:45

Sympathies to all having bad nights Sad and welcome jemima

I can recommend trying cc sleep training, it is helping us.

funchum8am · 10/02/2013 09:51

Sorry posted too soon!
We are away from home this weekend for babyfunch's baptism so cc partially suspended but the three days we tried it last week were SO much better. I hope we can continue successfully when we get home.

Baptism went well except the priest said a few rather strident things about atheism, when he knew full well the majority of the guests were not religious. No one was offended but it did make me feel even more squirmy at the religious things I had to agree to during the ceremony eg renouncing the devil! DH and his family are really happy with how it went which is the main thing, and was lovely to see family and friends.

BrainGoneAwol · 10/02/2013 10:39

I'm not sure I have the heart to do cc. Babybrain has 3 states; wide awake, fast asleep and crying. He doesn' seem to do the drowsy part that everyone talks about. There's no opportunity to calm him and then put him back in his bed to self settle - he simply immediately wails again until eventually one of the times he's picked up to be calmed he falls asleep on me.
The one time I tried to let him cry in his bed (I had a hand on his tummy for comfort) in the hope he'd stop on his own, he screamed for 45 mins, red and sweating, until I couldn't do it anymore. Sad
Don't know how to do cc

BrainGoneAwol · 10/02/2013 10:40

Oops posted to soon.

Don't know how to do cc or ssh-pat in those circumstances. Does anyone else's dc do this?

MrsNPattz · 10/02/2013 11:30

Well it's just been a bit of a disaster this staying overnight. Just been swimming but it was too cold, and we are all shattered, we didn't get anymore sleep earlier. Going for a Carvery this afternoon - could do without that. Can't wait to get home! Thanks for your support last night, I hope things return to normal tonight Blush
