Hi everyone, cannot believe we have exchanged over 5000 messages!

mrsn when we shared our locations on here a while back, heff, goat and I all turned out to live near Uxbridge so we met up having met on here. It is lovely, if you are ever down south let us know!

macaroons sounds like we are in the same boat Hmm I officially return to work on 15 Feb but that is actually the Friday before half term so only have that day and then another week off before full time return hits. I am lucky that DH is being a SAHD til 1st July so no drop offs, pick ups or worries about the childminder ringing me because babyfunch is ill etc, and she is in great hands with him, much as I have been critical of him til we talked it over recently. However I am worried about being at work on no sleep - I will get in a lot of trouble if I lose my rag with a pupil or indeed a member of my team (one of whom is a pain). I will have to perfect the art of letting some things go (eg uniform issues in the corridor as opposed to in my lessons - I spend a lot of time arguing with pupils about these and intend to stop save for the very worst!) and dealing with others by just reporting bad behaviour to heads of year rather than dealing with it myself. I am head of faculty so will focus just on what happens in lessons in my faculty rather than working quite so hard on having the best corridor behaviour in the school in my area - it is great having that but takes a lot of time, energy and conflict so it will just have to go n the back burner until I am getting proper sleep again. At this rate dd will be in year 7 by then herself and can help me!

amey baby small is better at night now but still wakes for bottles. Last night was a rare event and he slept all night in his cot until 6 when he had a bottle and then in bed with me until 7.30. Usually I end up bringing him into our bed after the 2/3am feed as I struggle to get a transfer. I worry about bad habits too but I need the sleep!

Ameybee · 17/01/2013 17:14

Sounds like he's doing well small! I've just downloaded the baby whisperer problem solver book for kindle. She says pick up put down is suitable from 3 months & I think we are going to try it - only because he will not transfer into his cot at all for naps & I just can't let him sleep on me for naps when I have DD to look after too. I wouldn't mind if he went to sleep in my arms but transferred - I tried 45 mins today n gave up! What she says makes sense & you don't actually leave them or let them cry, you just don't let them fall to sleep on you. DD has gone to stay at grandmas for weekend so next few days seems like a good time to try. Ill keep you all posted on if it works!
Xx

Sat here feeling really weepy because dp is giving babyloo - well attempting to - a bottle, I'm half desperate for someone else to put him to bed and half really sad that I'm not doing it Sad. I also found making a bottle really complicated and put the powder in first and then the water so hope I put enough water in the bottle-hope he doesn't get wind or feel poorly-I'm being a bit pathetic about it. So far all is quiet.......

Ameybee · 17/01/2013 18:20

Big virtual hug susie! I know exactly how you feel but it will be fine! You'll be a bottle making pro soon too! Xx

Smallgreenone · 17/01/2013 18:28

Putting them down awake does seem to be the key I think. Def let us know how you get on. I'm at my parents again and now thinking I should not have come as heavy snow expected and I won't get home, despite the fact that I wouldn't drive in the snow we also live in an area that gets cut off by snow regularly as they close the roads. I've only got enough clothes for one more day! Perhaps dh will come and save me with his 4wd, perhaps I should be the one with the 4wd now I have baby small to transport.......... Doubt dh will swap his enormous engined power car for my 3 door Clio though Hmm

GoatBongosAnonymous · 17/01/2013 18:45

susie hang in there, I add my assurances that it gets better. Sleep is as important as feeding!
Kid seems to be down to one bottle a night at about 1 am, but I can't seem to settle him in the early hours if he really wakes up without giving him a small amount. We have had three really great nights in the past week and three really crap. Can someone please tell me what the difference is in what we are doing?! Oh, and whoever was going to invent the sclide, that would help too!

MissingMyMarbles · 17/01/2013 20:28

What a disastrous evening! I don't know how many transfer fails already! So, I decided to see if she would self settle as she was quite happy: I had to remove Ewan to the stack at the bottom of the cot because she scooted back to bite his leg, then did crunchies to make sure she could still see him Hmm We have blankets tonight as temperature fluctuating quite a bit- kicked off completely. Tried a dummy: pushed out with a pop, caught on chest, picked up, inspected, played with, talked to, and finally outer rim bitten [hmm[ again! Hasn't fed to sleep but has required being on my knee. Attempting transfer.......
Uh oh....
Thought we were going to have another fail! Hope this is not going to be the story of the night Shock

BrainGoneAwol · 17/01/2013 20:42

Stupid internet... Just lost post and can't write it all again Sad

susie I feel for you. I have such mixed views whenever we try to get babybrain to take a bottle. Really want him to, but also don't...

Went out for tapas for DPs birthday Smile. Was amazingly tasty and is definitely going on the list for a good place in future. Unfortunately babybrain promptly threw up his entire bedtime feed. Change of clothes all round. Hoping this doesn't mean he'll be starving in an hour.

MrsNPattz · 17/01/2013 20:55

Oh susie sending big hugs! You are not being pathetic at all - just being a mummy, and a lovely one at that! Chin up Smile

Hoping this is last feed before bed. It's so windy outside, and I'm not sure if we are due snow overnight or not.

Have had a very quiet day, but one of those days where I wasn't quite sure what to do with him Blush those of you with babies around the same age (4 months) what sorts of things do you do with them during the day?

Smallgreenone · 17/01/2013 22:08

We've had so many transfer fails I can't count them. Have left him on my bed and expecting him to wake up soon for another feed. Don't know why he hasn't settled, different cot maybe although he was perfectly happy in it last week Confused

larlemucker · 17/01/2013 23:25

First night in grobag tonight, fingers crossed baby larle isn't too warm/cold.
So far having a bad night, he is v tired but won't sleep!
Fingers crossed here for a good night for everyone and no snow!

StitchAteMySleep · 17/01/2013 23:44

Hello everybody, sorry to hear of so many bad nights.

Couldn't see the screen to post last night, too tired to focus as stitch woken 4 times to feed between 1 and 7am Confused and I had only just got to sleep at 1 when she woke, not happy.

Doing better here tonight, went down without a hiccup after only 1 nap today, and on first feed now.

susie I gave dd1 the odd bottle formula when I went back to work as found expressing difficult at work, still breastfed her until she was nearly 2. Sleep is vital for a happy mummy and that is very important for a happy baby. Please don't beat yourself up, think of it as a positive bonding experience for your dp and babyloo and a welcome rest break for you x

Hoping for some better sleep for us all.

BrainGoneAwol · 18/01/2013 00:11

small hope you finally have/had some success.
large what have you been using until now? We've found the grobags really good. Especially as babybrain is a wriggler.

Second feed here. It is later than I expected...

Absolutely stifling in babybrain's room. I'd turned the heating up because of the low temp but there are no numbers on the boiler so it's all guess work. Smile

StitchAteMySleep · 18/01/2013 00:51

Up again, our guinea pigs are being rather rambunctious tonight, both kids were stirring at same time so have now shut their bedroom door so the piggies won't wake them with their singing.

MrsNPattz · 18/01/2013 03:32

First feed here. It's cold - gro egg is blue Shock I hope little man is warm enough.

I definitely have baby brain - I had an email from Groupon for a pamper package and I thought it was for nappies, it was for a spa Blush

larlemucker · 18/01/2013 05:07

First feed here, major transfer fail earlier so baby larle been in bed with us! Grobag going down well, just worried that he is warm enough

Susieloo · 18/01/2013 05:43

1st feed since 11.30 which is amazing however I wonder if I'm going to get another good night tonight bringing it to three and then it will revert to usual.

Thank you for all the support re bottles, I'm going to start trying to give him one in the day now as well so he gets more used to it, we are weaning him off bf I think which is bitter sweet but feels like the right time.

ChilliBanana · 18/01/2013 06:13

4th feed here, am shattered. He's got a bit of a cold so I wonder if that's contributing to him waking mere often. On the plus side we had a successful bedtime for the second night in a row so I actually got to spend some time with dh.
Susie we are also giving a few bottles of formula as I go back to work soon and I'm not sure if I'll be able to express enough to keep him fed while he's at the childminders. I also just realised I'll be leaving him for 10 hours a day and got really upset, but we just can't afford for me not to go back to work Sad

StitchAteMySleep · 18/01/2013 07:05

Just done third feed, two hourly from 1am, you would think that she would go longer at nearly 11 months old. Officially though she slept through as she did 5 straight hours from 8-1am Confused

BrainGoneAwol · 18/01/2013 07:08

Third feed was at 1.30, but my tired brain forgot to hit 'post' after writing a message. Hmm

Just been woken again at 6.45 so had a backwards night of best sleep last. Weird Grin

Hope you all did ok. Smile

Smallgreenone · 18/01/2013 07:17

Baby small did well in the end, went from 11 to 4 although I woke at 2 and 3 because I think I am now programmed to do so. Up at 6 and trying to get him back to sleep now.
Not much snow here.

GoatBongosAnonymous · 18/01/2013 07:30

Bleurgh.

That is all.

BrainGoneAwol · 18/01/2013 07:46

goat Brew

GoatBongosAnonymous · 18/01/2013 08:00

Grin thank you brain I assume that's double strength coffee! I'll share with all the bad-nighters...

Every !!#% hour last night. Doing acrobatics. I am letting him run away to the circus.

MrsNPattz · 18/01/2013 08:20

Up time here as we have baby group this morning. I need to phone the dentist as the last two mornings I have woken up with blood clots in my mouth and this morning my mouth was full of blood Sad

Then I'm going to SILs wedding venue as they have an appointment and asked if MIL and I wanted to go along.

Tonight I have managed to work a Domino's into my points - can't wait!! And a pudding Grin
