Hi everyone, cannot believe we have exchanged over 5000 messages!

mrsn when we shared our locations on here a while back, heff, goat and I all turned out to live near Uxbridge so we met up having met on here. It is lovely, if you are ever down south let us know!

macaroons sounds like we are in the same boat Hmm I officially return to work on 15 Feb but that is actually the Friday before half term so only have that day and then another week off before full time return hits. I am lucky that DH is being a SAHD til 1st July so no drop offs, pick ups or worries about the childminder ringing me because babyfunch is ill etc, and she is in great hands with him, much as I have been critical of him til we talked it over recently. However I am worried about being at work on no sleep - I will get in a lot of trouble if I lose my rag with a pupil or indeed a member of my team (one of whom is a pain). I will have to perfect the art of letting some things go (eg uniform issues in the corridor as opposed to in my lessons - I spend a lot of time arguing with pupils about these and intend to stop save for the very worst!) and dealing with others by just reporting bad behaviour to heads of year rather than dealing with it myself. I am head of faculty so will focus just on what happens in lessons in my faculty rather than working quite so hard on having the best corridor behaviour in the school in my area - it is great having that but takes a lot of time, energy and conflict so it will just have to go n the back burner until I am getting proper sleep again. At this rate dd will be in year 7 by then herself and can help me!

Hi

My mouth is the size of I dunno bigger than usual, looks like i have to have this wisdom tooth taken out. I just came on to ask had anyone had it done and I can see your having problems MrsN is it with your wisdom teeth? are you ok Smile I am actually terrified Blush

Goat I feel for you I really do, I hope you have a way of catching up on sleep during the day

anyway I wanted to write more, I'm too sore, and I know the dentist is going to ring and say he can't give me antibiotics again

will come back later

StitchAteMySleep · 18/01/2013 10:28

Oh goat, must be a developmental leap going on there!

MrsN that doesn't sound good, better get that checked out.

Tooodlepip, ouch you poor thing. I haven't had mine done but my brother had his out two years ago and was fine, you will need someone to pick you up and do child care afterwards as you will be very groggy and sore. Also find out about the anaesthetic and pain relief medication and breastfeeding (if you are) by phoning the Breastfeeding Network helpline 0844 412 4665. Best to get it done sooner rather than later if infected.

MrsNPattz · 18/01/2013 12:03

Poor you toodle! I don't think mine is my wisdom tooth (although I have an appointment at the hospital about mine next Friday), I had a clean and 2 fillings on Wednesday and my mouth hasn't felt right since then. I phoned them and I have to go in this afternoon - there is always something!! But it means I can't go out with MIL and SIL this afternoon (silver linings? Wink). I have had a wisdom tooth out a couple of years ago, just at the dentist and it was fine - I passed out before hand just cause I was so scared but when he had done it I was like 'is that it??' Lol Obviously the one I am seeing them about next week is more tricky and I am dreading the hospital saying that needs to come out Blush hope you get it sorted! Not nice at all.

Ameybee · 18/01/2013 12:20

Well, we've had a 45 min nap IN COT minus stealth transfer! I did 10 mins of ssh patting and picked him up if he properly cried but put him down as soon as he stopped. I'm amazed it worked, but not complacent!! Next time might not but decent start! X

funchum8am · 18/01/2013 12:43

Hi all been AWOL as I left my phone in the car and my mum is here so need to be sociable....made me realise how often each day I go on MN when I am on my own!

Because I didn't want mum woken I have been bringing babyfunch into bed and letting her feed lying down, then fall asleep on her side next to me, after first waking and one transfer fail. I have had loads more sleep this way and while I am worried it will become an I breakable habit I think we are going to have to stick with it to keep my sanity! I think I could cope with work on the amount of sleep it has got me.

Sorry to hear of bad night for some, but yay amey for shhh pat early success! Brew All round!

Thanks for the reassurance that I am not a hard hearted weirdo for not minding going back to work! I know I would really hate to have to go back before I felt ready and I hope chilli and marbles and mrsn that it is ok when the time comes. Life gives us some tough choices to make, or indeed gives us no choice, at times Hmm.

Babyfunch is now taking bottles form me or DH most of the time but is having none of it with DM for some reason, which means I can't have the lie ins I was hoping for while mum is here but I can hand her over once she has had a morning feed, which is very helpful.

Susie I have been doing bottles of ebm so far but will have to introduce some formula at some point soon as I have various kit days coming up and my freezer stash is bound to run out, and I struggle to express enough to keep it stocked up (well, I could keep up but only if I expressed every few hours at night...not likely!). Maybe by the time I get there you will be giving me advice!!

why did I watch a wisdom tooth being removed on youtube, they saw the tooth into pieces Shock I am actually probably going to die Sad it was nice knowing you all ....[dramatic]

TeaandHobnobs · 18/01/2013 14:01

Oh tooodle don't watch it!!!

I had a wisdom tooth out in November - it wasn't nice, but it was quick (in and out in 20 mins, so the procedure was probably only about 10 mins). You've given birth after all! As stitch said, do a bit of research about pain relief and breastfeeding. They tend to offer intravenous sedation as well as the local anaesthetic so you are less aware of what is going on, but I was told I wouldn't be able to breastfeed for 24hrs if I had that, so I chose to just have the local.

I was given high strength ibuprofen afterwards (600mg) which, after a bit of reading, I decided I would take but make sure not to feed DS for 3 hours afterwards - that was my own decision though, not sure if that is what would be advised. The helpline should be able to give you good advice.

Good luck, you'll be fine Thanks

funchum8am · 18/01/2013 15:12

Toodle I have had all my wisdom teeth out, in two goes as the first time only two needed to go, then the others got impacted later in life. Both times was fine, though the second time the surgeon broke one of the teeth but tbh if he hadn't told me I wouldn't have known! The worst thing for me was the injection of the anaesthetic really....good luck!

GoatBongosAnonymous · 18/01/2013 16:53

mrsn and tooodle Thanks and my every sympathy! Hope it all goes well for you both and you feel loads better soon!

Susieloo · 18/01/2013 18:18

I had my wisdom teeth out when I was 14 under general anaesthetic because my dad had private health care with his job and my dentist said they would have to come out eventually so we decided to do it whilst I could go private-I was beyond excited when I saw the menu in my lovely little room and merrily ordered my dinner and breakfast and then of course came round and couldn't eat anything but liquids for two days!! I remember that it didn't hurt as long as I kept on top of my pain relief which was only paracetamol I think.

We are on day two of dp giving babyloo a bottle before bed-last night he had 6oz which took about an hour but then wouldn't settle so I ended up feeding him myself-not sure how we are going to get round that part-I have given dp a dummy to try and I've upped his bottle to 8oz-he's on the 99th centile so I figure he might need a bit more than usual and he wasn't just comfort sucking he did have quite a big feed of me. I've also got a bottle of ready to feed for when he wakes up in the night-no idea if it will work but I'm determined to wean him of bf now-we are doing bf and ff with an aim to keep dropping bf and keep offering ff, trial and error I guess.

Hope everyone had fun in the snow and has good sound sleeps tonight

Smallgreenone · 18/01/2013 18:20

Oh dear, teeth problems are horrid, hope you get it sorted. I think baby small is teething, one bright red hot cheek and lots of tears. Poor chap.
We are also stranded at my parents due to sodding snow and had to cancel lunch plans. Why did I not believe the weather forecast!
Hoping the teething doesn't interfere with sleep too much, calpol is on stand by.

Susieloo · 18/01/2013 18:44

DP JUST FED BABYLOO TO SLEEP WITH A BOTTLE!!!!

This is the first time anyone other than me has put babyloo to bed successfully in 6 and a half months-woop woop!!

He only had 4oz so might wake up soon but this feels like a breakthrough.

And calm down now.........

ChilliBanana · 18/01/2013 19:15

susie many congrats! We've yet to have a successful bedtime with DH so I'm completely envious.
amey there must have been something in the air today as baby chilli had 2 naps in the cot without falling asleep on me first. Although he doesn't like being patted and keeps getting cross and pushing my hand away which I find very amusing Grin
Sympathies to those with teeth problems, I absolutely hate the dentist, I don't know why, it's completely irrational.
We have just enough snow to look pretty but not be a nuisance, it's lovely.
Here's hoping for more sleep than last night!

Ameybee · 18/01/2013 20:01

Susie I think weaning off bf gradually is the way to go. I was worried about him falling asleep on boob and the comfort thing but it really hasn't been a problem to be honest. He will take a dummy most times when sleeping & we are persisting with the baby whisperer technique. Sounds like you are doing fab to me Grin x

Tooodlepip · 18/01/2013 20:02

Evening

baby pip is asleep for how long who knows

congrats susie on the bottle success, thats great news, I hope it continues

I have just had some solpadeine after ringing the dr on call to ask if I can take it

I was thinking about how to get the tooth out but it would be a logistic nightmare. I would need iv sedation its only partially erupted and i am a chicken Grin so I would need to get baby pip used to a bottle a week or two before, maybe even formula as well, then on the actual day, I would need to pump to stop my boobs exploding if I'm not allowed to feed for 24 hours, so I will be in pain and trying to pump which I hate doing anyway. Baby pip who only has eyes for me would then have to make do with my mum and possibly dh if he can make it back which I know will be stressful for baby pip as seriously he is just so attached to me. So I am stuck really and truly! never mind the pain after the op and taking painkillers etc

anyway just wanted to get that out

happy sleeping everyone Smile

MrsNPattz · 18/01/2013 20:02

Ladies, I have to recommend Domino's chocolate melt dessert - so so yummy (and so worth 6 WW points!)!

Congratulations susie that's really great!

Well the dentist said my teeth are fine, and that the bleeding is normal after a clean and scale. I personally think she was too rough but obviously she wouldn't say that.

A few snow showers here but nothing major!

BrainGoneAwol · 18/01/2013 20:19

That's very exciting susie hope this is the start of more sleep for you (and more freedom)!
toodle I hope it goes well. Remember that for every bad story there are lots of good ones that no one bothers talking about.

Babybrain has had a tooth come through today, so much sadness. Hoping it doesn't keep him awake tonight. Also a little wary of feeding him as it's incredibly sharp Shock He's been good about not biting with his gums since I squawked at him once Blush. It's a scary thing putting your nips in there!

MrsNPattz · 18/01/2013 20:19

Are you out there heff?

TeaandHobnobs · 18/01/2013 20:49

MrsN that sounds ridiculous, clots after a clean and scale?! Here you don't see her again, she sounds horrid.

Tooodle I had the same thoughts - DS started bottle refusing around the same time, which made the whole thought of it so much more stressful. I was very worried and scared, but in the end, I thought, you know what, I can be brave and get through it, and it was nowhere near as bad as I had imagined! Did you do any hypnobirthing or yoga in preparation for birth? I found those breathing exercises and relaxation techniques really helped. And it was over very quickly.

But if you want the IV, it is only 24hrs, and babypip will not starve himself, even if he kicks up a massive fuss. It may not be a fun day for him, but it is just one day, and he won't remember it!

ChilliBanana · 18/01/2013 21:22

2nd feed since bed, this is looking ominious...Sad

MissingMyMarbles · 18/01/2013 21:39

Well last night did continue as it started and I was exhausted today. Had a cheeky little nap on the sofa this afty though, with Missmarbles (DH present to keep an eye, as he was off todaySmile). I think she may have been cold though, as our heating has been whacky, and the weather is obviously freezing. Her bedroom is on two outside walls, and it is difficult to keep it constant, even with the thermostatic heater wee had in there from DH's office. We have invested in an electric radiator today so hopefully, we will have a netter night.

Yowch to the teeth pain, MrsN, and Tooodle.

Yay for bottles Susie and being able not to feed if you have a reason not to.

Hi to everyone else and any lurkers Have fallen off the diet wagon today, and DH and I are having Haagen Dazs Grin

larlemucker · 19/01/2013 00:53

Sounds like many of you are in for a painful night, hope the painkillers work and you all get some sleep.
First feed here, dh been off and messed up routine so earlier feed than usual.
I had a wisdom tooth out at dentist, the stitches were more painful than the removal and had them out early. Not a patch on childbirth though.
Here's to a good night for everyone

BrainGoneAwol · 19/01/2013 01:08

Second feed here. Ha, so much for any kind of consistency from babybrain.

Apologies in advance to those on ww or similar, but I have to share: chocolate and malteser tiffin from the bbc good food site. DP requested it instead of a birthday cake. Oh my. It is the simplest thing you could possibly make. Grin

MrsNPattz · 19/01/2013 01:30

First feed here, far too early for my liking!

It's quiet, so hopefully you are all sound asleep!

Brain that sounds delicious!

Susieloo · 19/01/2013 01:34

1st feed of the night since his bottle, hopefully he will go through until 7. brain I am googling the tiffin now it sounds awesome and I could do with doing some cooking or making/stirring with dss.
