We are putting the Moses basket in the big cot tonight to start getting him used to it as he will be too big for the basket soon!!

Bed time not going well so far.......

Yes definitely need a sclide!!!
amey think your little one is 12 weeks, baby small is 14 weeks and has just stopped the two hourly wakings of his three month growth spurt so it will pass, just hang on!! Although having said that I bet he will now regress on me!

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 07/12/2012 06:04

Oh wow a schlide sounds amazing, can I pre order?!

We had a good journey down but it knackered us all out so even babylump, who is usually impossible to put down before 1am, was fast asleep by 9.30! DD1 woke up in the night so she's in bed with us and I'm sat up feeding and hoping desperately that this isn't us up for the day now.

mrsn you poor thing things sound like they're really getting to you right now. well done for talking to your DH about it, I hope you have a good HV to talk to and yes always remember you can come on here to offload.

I have the opposite situation ATM but still feel lots of guilt, we live with my family while we're saving for our move to Cornwall so currently feel guilty that my family see so much more of the DDs than the ILs do, but also feel guilt that we're going to then move 4 hours away from my parents and probably no more that 20 minutes from DH's. we're doing it to get a better quality of life for the DDs but still, I know I will be massively guilt ridden when it finally happens.

goat that fudge sounds amazing I think I might have to have a go next week.

funch jealous of your pizza, I love takeaway for one when I'm home alone it feels like such a treat!

Welcome magic and congratulations on your LO Xmas Smile

Susieloo · 07/12/2012 06:08

1st feed since half twelve.......I'm sure it will all go pear shaped tonight as I think this is night 3, hope everyone warm and asleep, I've been trying to think of a Christmas nickname but my nn is so like an actual name I'm stuck, will try and change it by tonight. Babyloo back in his cot but I think we have just had morning poonami so this might be us up for the day.

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 07/12/2012 06:13

susie I'm stuck for a Christmas name change too, by the time I've come up with one it'll be new year!

Two transfer fails in a row here :( so depressing, wish I'd brought Ewan with us. At home I'd probably just take her downstairs now and hopefully she'd eventually doze off and I would kip on the sofa but I dont like to that in someone else's house so I guess I'm stuck for a little while.

Smallgreenone · 07/12/2012 06:32

Baby small can do a six hour stretch and then apparently only 1 hour Confused
His egg has gone blue so wonder if he was cold. Have stuck the hearing on for us. Hoping we can go back to bed, too dark to get up now and cold brrrrrrrrr.
Making calendars at our baby group this morning with pictures of babies- can't wait!

Ameybee · 07/12/2012 07:16

I'll try goat and whilst I'm at it I will do one that stops them waking up as soon as dinner comes out the oven!

Well we had 2 transfer fails at 430Am but I lost the will and left him (he wasn't crying just grizzling) and he self settled! This is a one off most likely but still Grin.

small he was 11 weeks yesterday but my theory is we've hit it early as he was 9 days overdue. Good to know you've come out the other side tho - thank u!! Ill give the bf another few weeks but if he goes back to 2 hourly after that I'm not sure i can cope. It is horrendous & not making me a very nice mummy to DD in day either, I'm crabby and tired and feel really guilty about that :( xx

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 07/12/2012 07:23

The word fun does not come to mind about last night. Neither does the word restful.
Kid is still snuffleupagus reincarnated, and wanted to tell the world how horrible he feels. At length. All night. he actually slept quite soundly in the precious moments that he was indeed asleep, so if he had just stayed that way rather than waking himself up to rant, all might have been well. Xmas Hmm I always knew I had a diva!
At home today waiting for two deliveries - a new phone to replace the one with no backlight (have been squinting at it for months Xmas Blush much to DH's frustration) and DH's Christmas present. maybe will get some nap time in between. Also want to make apple and cranberry chutney to use up some of the countless apples bestowed upon us by PILs. (I have a major Good Food magazine addiction!) Then if everything turns up this morning, we may venture forth to the Rhymetime at the local library this afternoon. (alternatively I may go back to bed!!)

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 07/12/2012 13:53

Kid had lost his voice! Xmas Grin he tries to cry and can only produce a husky little mew. It's very sad and pathetic Xmas Sad

Xmas Grin

Ps he is still quite smiley in between!

Ameybee · 07/12/2012 14:42

Having an awful day. Baby bee went on hunger strike today. Been awful :( lots of screaming but no temp or sign of being unwell? Just got him to feed now after giving him a taste of expressed milk from a bottle lid. That's the longest he's ever gone without feeding. Having a day of feeling like I really can't cope. Me and DH just don't know what the best thing to do is x

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 07/12/2012 15:56

amey Sorry t hear yu are having a bad day. What abut ringing the La Leche or NCT helplines? I found them very helpful.

MrsNPattz · 07/12/2012 17:41

Hi ladies!

Well I hit rock bottom last night! As you all know I was already feeling crappy, and I was then awake from 2:15 til well after 5 because of my eyes! Little man just woke for a feed at 4 and went straight back to sleep! I ended up waking hubby at 3 for comfort because I was so upset. Anyway, I have seen a GP (no help) and an optician (very helpful) today and I have corneal dystrophy (map, fingerprint, dot dystrophy - if anyone is remotely interested its googlable lol) and there is not really a cure! The very nice optician lady took pity on me and has managed to get me a hospital appointment on Monday to discuss managing the symptoms!

She put some numbing eye drops in which are heaven so thought I would come and bore you all again before they wear off hehe

So all in all a shit week (sorry for language) - roll on Monday haha

amey hope you feel a bit better!

Hi to everybody else, hope we all have good nights xx

OP posts:
Ameybee · 07/12/2012 18:19

Totally with you on the feeling rubbish mrsn glad you got some relief from the eye drops and optician was helpful.

I googled feed refusal goat and it suggests poor supply amongst other things. Luckily he has started feeding again but coupled with his poor weight gain I'm worried. I wonder whether he's been unsettled last few weeks because he isn't getting enough milk for whatever reason. I have to do what's right for him & DD really, she's fed up this afternoon because I've been crying, he's been crying and I've had no time for her. I feel horrendously guilty :(

Smallgreenone · 07/12/2012 18:20

Hi mrsn sorry you're still feeling low. My friend has corneal dystrophy, think it only bothers her if she gets something in her eye though so maybe not as bad as you. She's had it since we were little.
amey sorry you're having a tough time too. No advice here, sorry. Would deffo try one of the helplines though.
Baby small is rather overtired so a bit of an earlier bedtime for him. Then we have people coming to stay so I need to zoom round the house and try and make it partway decent. DH is in the kitchen making a huge mess cooking something delicious for us all. Can't wait for a mug of mulled cider Grin, I've expressed tonight so can have more than one drink, hoorah!

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 07/12/2012 18:42

Oh amey that sounds worrying for you, goat's suggestions sound sensible the helplines should have some good advice. If he'll take expressed milk from a lid could you try a sippy cup maybe if he's still refusing the breast? Hope its sorted soon.

goat poor Kid, babies with sore throats sound so sad don't they! Babylump is the same at the moment it makes her cry extra hard to listen to :(

We've had a lovely day visiting some of my family in St Ives, both DDs were spoilt rotten. We're seeing SIL & nephew again tomorrow ahead of his christening on Sunday, he's 10 weeks older than babylump but she's such a chunky monkey she's the same size as him!

DH has gone out to play snooker with his Dad tonight so I'm hoping for a quiet night with the girls and a nice chat with MIL. Hopefully involving some of her lush chocolate button cake Xmas Grin

MrsNPattz · 07/12/2012 18:48

amey you poor thing - you have to do the best for you all and maybe getting some advice as goat suggested might help! Sending hugs xx

MrsNPattz · 07/12/2012 19:05

Once again this thread proves I'm not alone small thanks - I'm going to have a look for some forums to see if I can speak to other sufferers!

OP posts:
elvislives2012 · 07/12/2012 19:48

Ooh mrs that sounds sore. Hope you are feeling better and that the hospital appt helps.
Sorry for the poorly babies Hmm hope they get better soon

In first feed of the night. Not very hopeful as baby elvis (should I refer to her as Lisa Marie?!) has just had a major mini meltdown for no reason at all

funchum8am · 07/12/2012 22:25

Oh dear it sounds like people are really suffering at the moment. mrsn will they prescribe you some of the lovely numbing drops for when it gets really bad??

amey keep coming here to offload and let us know how your research on strategies to deal with feeding works out - sounds like you are doing absolutely everything in your power to find out what is going on and fix it.

We had a tough night once DH got back from his late night out with work - he hadn't drunk a lot but didn't wake up for his usual early morning stint with babyfunch despite saying he would be helping out as usual so I was pretty Angry. I woke him for a moan!! I wouldn't mind if he had officially booked the night off but he specifically said he would be up, so I didn't go to bed extra early, which I could have if I knew I was in for a longer night than usual. Grrr. Also he felt really ill this morning but insisted it was not a hangover but something he ate Hmm yet also insisted on still coming to see friends a 2 hour journey away. So I had to do all the driving and stress in case he gave them a bug/was sick in the car or at their house etc. he wasn't in the end but I was still fuming.

Having said all that we have made up and both gone to bed at 7:30, him on the sofa and me upstairs, so we can be half human again in the morning. I am off to a conference and get together at my old college tomorrow which should be fun and I get the whole day off baby duty. We will see how dh copes....should be interesting!!

Attempting transfer....good luck everyone for the night ahead....

Ameybee · 07/12/2012 22:35

Well. He's just guzzled the ebm - 4oz and cried after, i think half the problem is he falls asleep whilst feeding from me & never quite gets full. So, looks like ill be expressing a bit more n see how it goes, but might introduce a bottle of formula in evening. DH really enjoyed feeding him, I feel a bit bad because I hadn't realised he maybe felt a bit left out in a weird way x

MrsNPattz · 07/12/2012 23:36

Just ended up with a fountain of baby sick all over me Sad so needing sleep and it's just not happening at the moment! Can't believe he still isn't sleeping at half 11 and we have both just had to change.

funch we have googled these wonder drops and excessive use has really bad side effects so they wont prescribe them but might try and get some for when it is too much.

OP posts:
HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 08/12/2012 01:35

Seems quiet on here tonight hope that means the sleepy mice have been doing their job!

We're still up, she's been grizzling since 11 but only finally fell asleep at 1, almost never wakes up at the 1am transfer but of course tonight she waited for me to get up to bed then she woke up so I'm re-feeding her back to sleep.

How are you feeling mrsn and amey? Sorry to hear you've been low. Hope your eyes get better mrsn sounds painful :(

Going to attempt transfer again in a minute, fingers crossed this time.

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 08/12/2012 01:41

Fail :(

Ameybee · 08/12/2012 02:02

Thanks for all the support ladies - dont know what id do without this thread and you all right now! First feed here since the ebm. I'm just so glad he took the bottle easily as if HV says to top him up with formula I know I can without too much hassle (fingers crossed anyway). Going to double pump Tomo as DH thinks we should do his bedtime bottle ebm because most evenings I'm up n downstairs feeding or he doesn't settle till late. Think this is a sensible idea.
Hope everyone's getting some sleep now xx

Susieloo · 08/12/2012 02:15

Glad you are feeling a little better amey and I'm in the same boat as you heff with the transfer fail. After 3 amazing nights we have been up four times now and he is back in his cot wide awake singing to the pretty pictures, sounds a long way off sleep to me.....

Twobuttonsaway · 08/12/2012 02:46

Good evening susie amey and heff just finished 2am feed here which has been elongated by a mid feed green poo! Have read lots about poo in the last couple of days and reassured its normal! Hope your transfers go well... Attempting now! Smile
