We are putting the Moses basket in the big cot tonight to start getting him used to it as he will be too big for the basket soon!!

Bed time not going well so far.......

J went for his first four hour stretch last night (probably exhausted from all that crying over his sore tummy), it should have been great except I woke up after three hours with sore, full boobs! DH brought him up to change his nappy and found me sitting on the bed, showered, fully dressed and having already had my first cup of tea of the day! Poor DH got very little sleep last night so he's extra grumpy today.

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 15/12/2012 19:45

That's a good idea amey, I found you from mrsn's wall so that should work.

Hooray for baby stunt, hope it was the start of many more good nights!

We've been visiting DHs grandparents and auntie today which was nice, exchanging presents made me feel awful though as I'd got them one smallish pressy each and they gave us the most humongous sack of presents for us, hopefully mostly for the DDs but still made me feel bad for not putting more effort into theirs. I was a bit fed up that yet again I had to sort out DHs family as well as my own and it ended up being a bit of a rush, must be more organised next year and anticipate DH being a lazy sod not getting round to his shopping in time.

Ameybee · 15/12/2012 19:49

Well, DD decided she wanted to stay at grandmas! So they are bringing her back Tomo! Me and DH have had Mexican for tea and I'm hopefully about to put DS down for night. Very strange watching strictly without DD - its her favourite!!
Tried talking to my mum in garden centre cafe when it was just me & her but she started crying and then went off to loo :( she said she can't talk to me about it all at the moment. Wish I could help, I just wanted her to think positively until we know any different. But its her son isn't it & we all know how it feels whether they are 3 months or 30 odd! She text me to say DD is taking her mind off things.

mrsn I'm just the same - well I'm actually 2.5stone heavier than wedding day Blush my weight yo yo's frequently! But after I had DD I lost 2 stone in 6 months for our wedding by going to the gym 3-5 times per week (they had a crèche that I put DD in for an hour) but that isn't going to happen this time & the incentive of a wedding dress was a big one! I have to do something tho. Everyone told me (even the gp) that the weight would 'fall off' if I continued to bf - err I beg to differ!! Maybe its the snacking... But some days I'm ravenous!! Anyway, transfer time! Good luck tonight everyone! Xx

MrsNPattz · 15/12/2012 20:39

amey your poor mum - yes having your own really makes you understand how our own must feel!

I was going to come on and moan about feeling fat, frumpy and ugly but it puts things into perspective what your family are going through!

We haven't done much, just had my friend from work come over - she has lost nearly 6 stone and looks amazing! I was glad of the company.

It's so so sad this shooting in Connecticut isn't it. Doesn't bare thinking about - but it's hard not to.

Your poor mum amey, it must be so so awful for something like this to happen to one of your children however old they may be. to you and your family.

mrsn I feel the same, weight size I've gone from a size 8 wedding dress in 2009 (pre children!) to a 14 in 2012. I used to be so fit, wish I'd appreciated it then as now I'm a jelly bellied lump! Must must must do something about getting back into shape soon. I'm trying to resist snacks but Christmas time really not the best time of year for cutting back is it!

The news has made me cry so much, I can't even start to imagine the horror of it all it is just such a tragedy. The world is a scary place, all we can do is try to bring our children up to be decent adults and hope that if enough others are doing the same that tragedies like this won't keep happening. :(

Ameybee · 15/12/2012 22:43

God dont worry about moaning about weight mrsn its one of my hobbies! To be honest tho the problem with me is I just love food and I'm a pig, I love wine too & I hate exercise (aside from body combat at one gym where the instructor was seriously hot!). If I was let loose I'd be like one of those people on programmes who have to be craned out their houses Wink! This is the fattest I have been for a while tho so something does need to be done.... Tomorrow! I've just eaten a portion of nachos, two fajita wraps and a melt in the middle choccy pudding Blush eek! Best get DS out in the pram for a power walk Tomo!

I have several jobs to get done that all would be much easier without breastfeeding baby in tow - I need an eye test (desperately), a leg wax (even more desperate, I'd be warm in this weather with no trousers on), a temporary filling replacing with a permenant one (not so desperate - hate the injection) and last of all a haircut and colour! So basically I look like a tramp but as my eye sights bad and I don't have glasses I can't see myself too well in the mirror Grin bonus!
Wondering whether to leave babybee with daddy + ebm and just hope for the best (one job at a time!)! mrsn did your LO scream when he didn't take the bottle the other day or was he ok? Xx

MissingMyBaubles · 15/12/2012 23:17

Have no idea what kind if a night I'm in for. Missmarbles was very unsettled last night due to the snotmonster. Having been up to the third feed at midnight when she didn't settle well at all DH sat with her for a bit and she eventually went to sleep about oneish. He brought her to me about half two because he couldn't stop sneezing (he has man-flu) we then slept ok but DD1 woke up with earache yet again, poor love. So all in all a rubbish night all round. Missmarbles went down at 7.20 tonight, fed again at 8 and then 10, so it isn't boding well so farXmas Confused

The news is awful, Goat. I am so thankful for my girls, I love them so much. My heart goes out to those poor families, and that community.

I really need to start Slimming World again too, Amey and MrsN, but as Goat says Christmas is the wrong timeXmas Grin anyway I always said I wasn't going to do anything about it for the first 6 months while I was exclusively bf. I have started weaning (she's 5 months) so after Christmas....

Susie, how is weaning going for you? Missmarbles did really well at first but seems to spit rather a lot out at the minuteXmas Hmm She's definitely swallowing if though. She still spits up a fair but and to ight it was spinach stainedXmas Grin Also, she is still pooing with breastfed frequency, ie quite rarely. I'm pretty sure she's not constipated, as she has had two dirty nappies (tmi: bm poo with bits in) in the last two weeks since starting solids, and she has had stewed apple too to make sure but we've had nothing for a weekXmas Confused Should I be concerned by this? Other than lack of evidence, I don't have any other reason to be. Any thoughts?

MissingMyBaubles · 15/12/2012 23:20

Beg your pardon Heff Xmas Blush I've written Goat twice, purely on the basis of a long name and not concentrating, and I meant Heff. Sorry Xmas Blush

TeaandHobnobs · 15/12/2012 23:42

Just sticking my head round the door, as marbles/baubles mentioned poo and solids (ooo that sounds yucky!) - DS's frequency also slowed right down, going from 3+ times a day to once every day or couple of days. I think it is still normal to go a few days without a poo, but of course the introduction of solids could be slowing everything down. DS was clearly straining quite a bit in the first week, and I realised I wasn't helping the situation by indulging his love of banana, so watch it with foods like that - apparently apple is the same? Good things to "flush it out", so to speak, are pear or dried prunes or apricots. I've also made a habit of getting him to drink a little water from his sippy cup after he has food.

DS is still having a terrible time with his teeth Xmas Sad will it ever end? I could really really do with a decent night's sleep - I can't remember when I last had one now. I think we managed a couple of nights with a 4 hour gap a week or two ago, but I'd give anything for a 5 or 6 hour! DH is now on holiday so I think it is about time he did a bit of the night work Xmas Grin Unfortunately if DS wakes screaming, and dentinox and the dummy won't settle him, I just feed him to get him to stop, even though I doubt he is really hungry - I just don't have anymore methods of settling him Xmas Sad

Smallgreenone · 16/12/2012 00:59

Hi all, first feed since bed. DH normally does this one but arrived up to the bedroom saying baby small wont feed and is crying. Baby small had just fed fine for me. DH now buggered off to bed with instructions to me of dont be up too late Confused!!! Because I deliberately stay up and have no sleep Confused
tea DH starts his hols next week and we will definitely be sharing the nights, I can't wait!!! He's not back in until the 7th so I am hoping for a few blissful nights.
Attempting transfer

MrsNPattz · 16/12/2012 00:59

First feed here, far too early - only 2 and a half hours after he went down. I hope it's not a 2 hourly night Blush

amey I'm a pig too - I feel disgusting sometimes! I think I am going to join WW after Christmas - so still a few weeks to pig out eat a bit too much! I'm not sure re bottle, as it was MIL who offered it but she said he just wasn't interested! We tried him with a bottle in the car yesterday and he took some, but then just cried until he got boobie! Are you still having no joy? Haha my legs are exactly the same!! I was only thinking as I lay getting to sleep that I might try and get a waxing appointment before Christmas but whether there will be appointments left I don't know!

marbles sorry DD is still poorly! Hopefully she will be better for Santa coming Grin

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 16/12/2012 02:18

Zombie-like Goat crawls onto thread, waves feebly, and crawls off again in the vain hope that Kid will actually sleep after a long and knackering day and therefore she can too.

funchum8am · 16/12/2012 03:32

just a quick hello from only 2nd feed here Smile here's to more good nights for us all!

Ameybee · 16/12/2012 03:48

Second feed here! I still feel full and sick now! Ew!
mrsn decided if I can't get an appointment I'm going to give the veet roll on waxing thing a go at home. Need to do it by wed really as I have a follow up appointment for third degree tear and ill be seriously embarsssed anyway without the hairy legs Blush!
X

Susieloo · 16/12/2012 03:51

And we are up again so another night of two hourly waking, might need to rethink bedding and try a grobag tomorrow night, not sure that is the issue though, he does seem hungry.

Weaning is going really well marbles, need to find something to put him in because he is too good at rocking his chair so its getting very messy!! he can't really support his head yet so need something with a back to it. Can't wait until he can have 'proper food' rather than just vegetables and fruit and baby cereal.

He is now wide awake talking to the pretty pictures trying to pull his blankets over his head.

We were home most of yesterday so I was watching the news re the American shootings - indescribably awful.

Hope you are ok amey and goat hope you are now fast asleep.

elvislives2012 · 16/12/2012 04:21

Hi all. Had a good couple of nights so haven't been here. Couldn't last tho so I'm back and desperately trying not to sleep!
Another one feeling crappy about being a stone overweight! and doing nothing about itGrin I wish I was one of those people who eat what they want and never put on weight. I just have to look at cake and put on 3lbs!!
What do everyone's babies sleep in? My DD is 8 weeks old and just has a blanket. When can they use the gro bag?

elvislives2012 · 16/12/2012 05:29

God! Baby is asleep and in wide awake. Am going to regret this in the morning

StuntNun · 16/12/2012 05:45

Grobag from 8lb8oz Elvis. Hope you got to sleep again.

I have gas a better night despite feeds at 11, 2, 3.30 and 5.30. I'm a bit less tired so I have been able to respond faster and get J fed before he got too noisy. So DH has had a good night as, although he has been woken up, he hasn't had to attend to the baby at all. Hope he's less grumpy tomorrow as a result.

Susieloo · 16/12/2012 06:15

Up again so a proper two hour waking night-dp is going Xmas shopping so he might have to take babyloo so I can get some sleep.

We are on blankets again after walk in sleepers but he does tend to play with them and pull them over his head!!

Think we are up for the dayHmm

MissingMyBaubles · 16/12/2012 07:12

No idea if we were up at 12.30 or 1.30 or 12.30 through 1.30 until 2. Up again at 550, transfer fail and bringing her in with me hasn't worked either do we are still awake. Annoyed with DH for sleeping feeling like he was all helpful last night for once Xmas Angry
Ooh get me! I don't mind getting up a zillion times to both DDs if required it just narks me that DH thinks he had the monopoly on tiredness sometimes. And it pisses me off more in the middle of the night. Yes 7 is the middle of the night since its dark and I've been awake since 5!

That us all. Rant over.

JRsandCoffee · 16/12/2012 07:21

Morning all, hope sleep found you all....Some rough nights out there by the sound of it. We went out to a dinner party for a 40th last night. DD obligingly slept for most if it but on getting home decides that 2hrs of on off feeding, a bit of sick and a good explore of the volume on her lungs was the way to go....then slept until 4.30 and for another couple of hours to now....

Goat would Iove your opinion (and indeed anyone else with premie experience), we're letting her wake us rather than us waking her at night. Still waking her every three hours during the day but it just seems wrong at night. She's 4 weeks and a good weight and lively etc. Do you think it's too early? Last night she fed/ yelled from 11-01 and Then slept until 4.30, too long between feeds? Fret, fret....

MrsNPattz · 16/12/2012 07:30

Well I needn't have worried about 2 hourly feeds - we just got 6 hours! Sorry for all of the bad nights - I hope you can nap today!

We don't have much planned apart from friends coming round. Probably see in laws at some point too but I'm leaving that for hubby to suggest.

amey I have never tried the veet, but I have just remembered I have a smear on Tuesday so I need to do something too or die of embarrassment as my bikini line is the same (sorry for TMI!)!
