WANTED dead or alive!
sleep!
Last seen approximately December 2011, wearing a slouch hat and sunglasses in an attempt at escaping in disguise. This seems to have been successful. Reward. Wanted by rather a lot of people.

jr we were told by NNU not to let Kid go longer than five hours because of dehydration, and not to do this too frequently - So 1-4:30 is fine. Only a couple of times near the beginning did he go that long anyway, he soon learnt to yell for food! (actually he is still quite a polite baby, he is more likely to chew his hand and look at me hopefully. This is not known to wake me up in the middle of the night Xmas Hmm )

Ameybee · 16/12/2012 08:17

I have paid for my pig out Confused belly ache and now a very unhappy belly :( guess the bonus is I might lose some weight but it feels like I have a washing machine for insides Confused! DH taken DS downstairs to leave me to die in peace.... Bleugh. Hope its not a bug x

JRsandCoffee · 16/12/2012 09:42

Amey hope you feel better soon, that is such a horrid feeling Sad fingers crosseed!

Goat poor sleep deprived you! Thank you for the advice, it is so hard to know what to do sometimes!! I'll keep an eye on it and if she goes and longer than four to four and a half start to start I'll start setting the alarm again (she decides to go all over again at 12.30 so counting from there for last night)....

Right, must focus on the milk monster....DH has gone out cycling, am jealous! I too am l

funchum8am · 16/12/2012 09:49

Sorry to hear of such bad nights! We did ok til DH came up from sleeping on the sofa. I was in bed with babyfunch fast asleep on me and he kindly offered to let her sleep on him. Moving her woke her and she cried for what felt like aaaagesSad She has been to and fro from him to me (for feeding) ever since so I have had some sleep but only short bursts. He is taking her out to a farmer's market now Smile. Then we are off to friends for lunch; other friends who are coming too have an even younger baby!

babyfunch sleeps in long sleeved vest and grobag - tucking in blankets and change of temp to cold cot always meant transfer fail before the grobags!

JRsandCoffee · 16/12/2012 09:49

Posted too soon.... Am also struggling with hunger and weight, can do my jeans up but would not be a happy experience, living in some forgiving skirts from the land of pre preg body and wondering if DH can put bike on turbo trainer in the garage or if I should wait until the six week point. In the interim I'll continue my obsession with those cranberry and White chocolate crispies, mince pies and any other foodstuff unfortunate enough to cross my path....

Smallgreenone · 16/12/2012 10:19

Up three times last night but DH took baby small at 6 so I got some sleep so not feeling too bad. Off for lunch with friends today, can't wait. Gorgeously sunny too which makes a nice change from all the rain. Have a good day all.

StuntNun · 16/12/2012 11:02

DH took J downstairs at 7 so I could get a bit more sleep whereupon J puked all over the Moses basket. AIBU to be just a little bit smug and feeling like DH deserved it after he went out for hours and hours yesterday?

MrsNPattz · 16/12/2012 13:48

Blurgh, just had another fat moment - tried on a dress I bought for SIL's wedding and it looks horrendous!! Cue tears! Yet I'm still going to have a huge Costco shortbread with my afternoon cuppa............

Seems like 5 mins ago it was this morning and am now on bedtime feed. Whoosh! Had such a lovely day today but am quite exhausted from it now.
mrsn I have cried lots over clothes that look hideous now it's quite normal. I have actually lost all but 2lbs of my pregnancy weight but my body still isn't quite the same. It may never be I suppose but at least I have my amazing boy to show for it. They're worth it and there's plenty of time to hit the gym.
Anyone else really looking forward to sports personality of the year tonight? I'm recording in case I fall asleep before the end!

Susieloo · 16/12/2012 19:02

Love sports personality and am v excited that duchess of Cambridge will be attending, we are recording it because there is no way I will be able to stay awake.

We are on second last feed before bed, babyloo is in his gro bag tonight to stop him getting over excited by his blankets but he still manages to get his gro bag in his mouth to have a good chew!!

I know lots of people mrsn that only lost weight when they stopped bf rather than whilst they were still feeding, I think sometimes your body hangs on to any available fat stores so you can keep making milk-you don't look like you need to lose any weight at all to me from your fb picturesSmile

I managed to have two breakfasts this morning, I had a sausage sandwich at half six and then dp got up and made himself a mini full English so I had one too, I was born greedy and hungry and bf just makes it worse!

I had my first meal refusal from babyloo since weaning began, I made him some mashed potato as per Annabel Karmel and he really didn't want it, it was a bit cold though so tomorrow I'm going to add some apple purée and warm it all through.

Really hoping for an easy transfer I have a big glass of wine waiting for me.

Good luck tonight everyoneSmile

Ameybee · 16/12/2012 20:01

We had a nice day at some Xmas markets & had a nandos, I still feel ropey tho :s really hope I don't end up sick in the night.

Just downloaded supernannys baby care book to kindle & been having a read through! She's the only one who suggests it ok to cuddle/rock a small baby to sleep at first! Although it worries me that really baby bee should be going down a bit earlier at night. I do think we could do with a bit of routine with feeding/naps as they do still seem all over the place to be fair. It would be nice to get a bit of the evening back. Think after Xmas we will really try.

I'm getting nervous about baby bees weigh in & chat with HV on Wednesday, I hope he's put on lots of weight! If not we may be switching to formula for my own sanity as much as anything else.

How are bottles going small ? X

Smallgreenone · 16/12/2012 20:42

Have had to do three re-settles since bed. Think he is out of sorts because today's naps were none existent, he does this when overtired. My fault shouldn't have gone to the pub for a lovely long indulgent lunch.
Bottles mrsn..........well............he refused DH giving him some breast milk last night which he normally guzzles every night and today in the pub refused a bottle of formula so its not going that well so far!!! I'm trying him on one bottle of formula for now until his tummy gets used to it and my boobs do too so the lunchtime feed is supposed to be formula but he wouldn't have it today. Will persevere though!

Smallgreenone · 16/12/2012 20:43

Given up with sports personality as am forecasting a bad night so am off to bed now.
Had a little look for some sleepy mice to release but there are none here so if anyone wants to release theirs please feel free!!!

MrsNPattz · 16/12/2012 21:06

Thanks susie Smile

Ok, so I think I have found a dress for the wedding. A few years ago I bought a purple dress from Primark but it was too big. I really liked it and they didn't have the smaller size so I asked a round a few different branches and none of them did and then I left it too long to take back sooooo I found said dress today and it fits (trying not to get too depressed about this) and I feel ok in it. However, it's strapless! I plan on still breast feeding then so what should I do bra wise? Would you just wear a normal one?

I watched a bit of Sports Personality but we have come up to try and attempt bed time. Hubby and I were just talking, and were wondering how you teach babies to self settle?

OP posts:
MrsNPattz · 16/12/2012 21:07

By normal bra I mean normal strapless bra and not a nursing one!

MissingMyBaubles · 16/12/2012 21:38

Susie, Missmarbles sucks her thumb and particularly enjoys it if she can wrap some kind of fabric (muslin, jarmie sleeve, whatever) Xmas Hmm Also, she had been not so keen on her solids for a little while, but seems back on form with her roasted parsnips tonight.

Missmarbles was over tired tonight too, Small. We went to Carols by Candlelight at church. It was lovely and not too late but she fell asleep during the service so is a bit out of kilter. No doubt I'll be seeing you plenty through the night because of it.

MrsN, I am really fat and hardly any of my clothes fit but I am refusing to get more. Diet starts in earnest after Christmas and til then I am trying to ignore it. I will also have to start toning my stomach by making the effort to hold it in while walking. I don't mind having a little but of a mummy-tummy as testament to my children but at the minute, seriously, talk about muffin topXmas Blush

MummyV18 · 16/12/2012 21:47

Hi guys how are you all? Grin

We've all got bad cold and baby J is really suffering Hmm on the plus side he's doing well with sleeping Grin

I read the post below and I sympathise with the weight issues. I was an ok 12 before pregnancy and I'm now a 16 so I'm struggling to deal with my new size. Today I've been out to buy some new clothes coz I'm fed up of wearing the same 3 outfits again & again Hmm but I'm hitting the gym come the new year.

Ameybee · 16/12/2012 22:31

Tell us the secret to sleeping mummy v Is baby j fully formula fed now?
We had 2 hours of overtired screaming tonight & I lost a bit of perspective & had a good old sob, just feel like I never know what he wants :(, I wish we had some kind of routine even if a loose one. We are supposed to be having friends to stay thurs night & I'm dreading it because I feel like they will think I'm a crap mum because I don't have a clue when bedtime is or how to settle him. DH Thinks bf is getting too much for me, I don't know, need to think about it.
Lots of theories on self settling mrsn but most people say 12 weeks is too early, we did pick up put down with DD but I think she was 7 months or so. Its something I've thought a lot about too tho.
With the dress... Hmm sure you'd be ok with a normal bra but you'd maybe want to feed under a scarf as it wouldn't be as discreet? Only thing is you're not meant to wear underwired cos it can block milk ducts & although I'm sure it would be ok once with you having mastitis recently not sure I'd risk it. I got a handmade bandeau strapless bra when preg for a maxi dress - the only place I could find it was Ebay - its a seller who makes her own stuff. Very comfy tho. Might be worth a look.

Sorry for long rambly post. Knackered now. Sleep time, he's conked out in DH's arms after all that screaming. X

MummyV18 · 16/12/2012 22:56

Sorry to hear your having a bit of a tough time amey Hmm

With baby J it was like someone flipped a switch. One week he was waking every hour and the next he went to only waking once. I'll tell you what we did see if its any help.

At about 20 weeks old I stopped bf completely and went to full time formula. I also started to introduce baby rice. The 1st week was hit & miss. 2nd week we fell more into a routine. 3rd week I introduced baby porridge and we now (5 weeks later) have a solid routine (8am wake up & brekki & bottle, 10am nap, 12/1pm full bottle, 2/3pm nap, 4pm tea & bottle, 6/7pm changed/story/bottle/bed, 10pm dream feed, 3am bottle) However this has all gone to pot this last week as he has been quite poorly with this cold Hmm

MrsNPattz · 16/12/2012 22:59

30 minute intruder here and I was just nodding off!!

amey so sorry you you are feeling rubbish - it's easy to feel this way being a mum! If it's any consolation little man is same age as yours and we have no routine whatsoever - no bedtime, no nap routine and no feeding routine! That's why we were worrying wondering about self settling but yea, he is too young! Sending hugs. Re bra, that's interesting to know that about underwires, so I googled strapless nursing bras and what do you know - sorted! Lol so thanks Smile

Hi v so lovely to hear from you - sorry about the colds but really pleased for you re sleeping. Yes do tell us your secret!

Hi mummyv good to hear from you and really good to hear baby J is sleeping better now. Xmas Smile

We've had a nice day today, went to a Christmas get together with our nct group which was the first time all eight couples have managed to get together at once since all the babies were born. Both DDs were really good and I had a lovely big glass of mulled wine to pick me up after a tiring morning.

mrsn the research seems to agree self settling can't really be taught very much before 6 months, (although I'm sure there will always be exceptions) but by establishing good bedtime routines and sleep associations from around 3 or 4 months you can kind of nudge them in the right direction. DD1 was a truly terrible sleeper for the first 3 months and then in sheer desperation I started to put her down at bedtime and do a very soft version of pickup put down (basically I spent about two hours a night sat with her in our darkened room alternating between cuddles, putting her back down, shushing, patting, more cuddles, perhaps a little feed, stoking her head, etc etc until she fell asleep!) it seemed to help but tbh I look back and think we did do it too early and this time I'm more relaxed and bizarrely babylump is a much better sleeper at the same age. Probably just coincidence but it does make me wonder if I was just stressing too much with DD1.

I've been browsing the App Store for exciting new things to do/play/read etc on my iPad, any recommendations anyone? I did get ridiculously excited when I thought I'd found Final Fantasy VII for iPad but then it turned out to be just an image archive and I was bitterly disappointed!

I think we may have a few sleepy mice here tonight. Don't want to get too excited but babylump has been asleep for about 40 minutes in her buggy at the bottom of the living room, a full 2 hours earlier than usual! Going to attempt taking her up to bed in ten minutes, if successful I will send the sleepy mice out to all!

Susieloo · 16/12/2012 23:36

1st feed of the night, v knackered, re self settling I think they just sort of do it, babyloo will self settle sometimes and this started about four weeks ago so 4 months ish.

Babyloo loves eating fabric too marbles, his one arm of his babygro is usually being chomped, right back to sleepSmile

Susieloo · 17/12/2012 00:55

Oh good we have moved from two hours to an hour and a halfHmm
