small yes you have done a great job! Do you have the NCT leaflet 'reasons to be proud'? It gives you the benefits of feeding to certain time scales. Really hope you are starting to feel better and that things go smoothly transferring to bottle Smile

MrsN - I hated leaving DD1 as a baby. I went back to work on nights after having her so that if she woke it was only one feed she missed and invariably she did wake and refused a bottle and DH had to just comfort her til she went back to sleep. I hate still leaving her at school. I don't mind her doing her own thing for a day with a friend or whatever. I don't like leaving her with a babysitter very much but am always glad of date night with DH. I don't mind leaving her with my parents, and she has just started having the odd week there at half term or whatever, now that we live so far away from them, but I miss her like crazy. I'm trying to get a night rotation again when I go back this time too. At least Missmarbles will be nearly 9 months and will hopefully be sleeping through, unlike DD1 who was only just 7 months actual and corrected to 4 1/2 Xmas Sad

Missmarbles in bed for over an hour already, hopefully we are getting back to normal. Just going to put DD1 to bed now. Catch you all later Xmas Smile

Susieloo · 13/12/2012 19:59

Glad your day went ok mrsn, I hate leaving babyloo although I would happily give him away tonightGrin we had usual bath and bed early due to lack of any significant napping so asleep at six and then awake after 40 mins and we have had transfer fail x ten million and all he wants to do is feed, I am still feeding him an hour and twenty minutes after he woke up. I really need some sleep tonight and would hope that this mammoth feed means a good night but I'm not hopeful. Good luck everyoneSmile

Ameybee · 13/12/2012 22:02

Babybee has been feeding like mad since 6pm and feeding properly for once so I'm assuming we've hit the 12 week growth spurt.

Had some bad news tonight, my eldest brother just found out he has skin cancer. He has to go for a second operation & skin graft on his foot to see if it has spread. We lost our cousin (DD's godmother - we were very close) last April to malignant melanoma and we were all there when she was very poorly & passed away so its still very raw and painful & hard not to let your mind runaway thinking the worst when its happened to someone in your family. I feel really bad because he called me & for the first 15 mins I was rambling on about breastfeeding and jabs etc before he got a word in edge ways to tell me :( x

Smallgreenone · 13/12/2012 22:26

Oh amey that really is bad news. I hope it isn't malignant melanoma. Must be incredibly worrying for you especially with recent events. Does put breastfeeding woes into perspective. Sad
I haven't got that leaflet mrsn but I reckon he's had plenty of the good stuff and happy mummy will mean happy baby in the long run. Although I think he'll miss his boobs initially!
DH is settling him now. How is it last night he slept 6 til 2 and tonight can only manage 7 until now Confused

funchum8am · 13/12/2012 22:45

small babyfunch is only 10 weeks and I am thinking of doing kind of a mirror image of what you are planning, ie introducing a bedtime bottle of formula but bfing all other feeds. it would mean I could express when she has the formula and so build a stash for when I go back to work, or go to bed early (shame supply would probably dry up if I just did the early bedtime every night!) Four months of ebf is fantastic, hats off to you! I hope the mastitis is improving and also yours jr

Welcome to the new ladies!

Eventually did get some sleep last night but found it very hard not to end up in tears, I so needed some sleep. I was having thoughts about just handing babyfunch over to DH and leaving but hopefully that was just a one off low. Feeding lying down in bed turned out to let me get a sensible amount of sleep, thank god.

Babyfunch has been really grizzly for 3 days, is there a 9 or 10 week growth spurt? she doesn't appear to be ill or anything. It is a bit wearing though Sad

Good luck for lovely long sleeps everyone!Smile

funchum8am · 13/12/2012 22:46

amey so sorry to hear about your brother Sad. I have everything crossed. I have a little bro (6 foot 2 and 32 years old type little!).

elvislives2012 · 13/12/2012 23:21

amey sorry about your brother. I hope you are all ok and sticking together.
mrsn glad your day away went well Grin
Sorry to hear of mastitis woe and I think I'd probably stop if I kept getting it. Four months is amazing.
Last few nights have been great with LO sleeping for 6 hours. Tonight is going to be different though as we've already had one transfer fail and looking like number two has also failed Hmm. Doesn't help that I've got a cold and just want to sleeeep. Please, baby, go to sleep. She looks exhausted but refuses to let herself go! Gah!

MissingMyBaubles · 13/12/2012 23:46

Oh Amey, Sad prayers for you and your family at the moment.

Well done on bf for four months, Small. I think we should all be proud of our perseveranceXmas Smile

Missmarbles has bed Miss Monkey tonight. Woke at 9.50 for a feed then led me a merry dance til 11.15 Xmas Hmm Sleeping now but hopefully will stay do for a good 5 hours a la last night. DH on the other hand is keeping me awake with his snoring. Feel a bit sorry for him though as he really isn't very well.

MissingMyBaubles · 13/12/2012 23:47

Missmarbles has been Miss Monkey! Blinking phone!

JRsandCoffee · 14/12/2012 00:16

Evening, back again, this time with added sore throat! Thank you for being so kind about my falling asleep, still am appalled at myself!

Amey fingers crossed for your brother, what a terrible thing to have to cope with, sending positive thoughts x

Right, we fed at 8.30 or so until about 9.30, now feeding again. In two minds whether to set alarm for 3.30 or just respond when she wakes. Suspect will do the alarm, she is still very tiny, four weeks old but five weeks premature. She is now over 6 1/2 lbs and a total milk monster but wouldn't want to push my luck. Anyone else feeding or got experience of feeding one similar?

Right, she's shifted so need both hands to amend latch....oweeeeee

MrsNPattz · 14/12/2012 00:52

First feed here, too early baby, too early Blush

amey so sorry to hear about your brother. Thinking of you and your family, I hope you can all stay strong.

marbles I was talking to my friend from work at lunch and she says she still misses her son and he's 18, so I guess it never goes away!

susie little man has the bear sleep suit on tonight and hubby says he looks inflatable cause its a bit big hehe Grin

funchum8am · 14/12/2012 02:13

second feed here. she cannot be hungry this often! Damn reflux. DH is changing her bless him. If she doesn't sleep for a bit now he has offered to take her out in the car and I am that desperate I am thinking of saying yes!

Sorry to hear of other transfer fails...it is so hard in the wee small hours Sad

JRsandCoffee · 14/12/2012 03:15

Oh dear fun that sounds very low on fun factor to me, hope she settles without needing to take to the road. Well my dream of a nice 3 hour sleep has in reality been 2.5 and she is hungry poor wee thing, and I suspect cold not helping. Picked her up in her swaddle and she's hoovering away, usually likes to wave arms about!!

MissingMyBaubles · 14/12/2012 03:34

Haha 5 hours! What was I thinking?? Just shy of 3! She is a snot monster so struggling when lying down flat initially, but we've already had one transfer fail and I need some sleeeeeep

MrsNPattz · 14/12/2012 04:04

Second feed here, I'm wondering if its a growth spurt is causing more night wakings, I hope so.

It sounds wild outside, we don't have anything planned tomorrow unless my click and collect at Asda arrives. It's an outfit for SILs wedding in Feb - dreading trying it on cause I feel so fat at the moment but can't stop eating!!

Hope there have been some successful transfers!

OP posts:
JRsandCoffee · 14/12/2012 04:21

Transfer success here although we're a bit cross re being swaddled and tucked in against the cold..... Just waiting for the smuggling and grunting to settle.....

Returned to bed after nappy change 1 to find Jack Russell keeping my side warm, under the duvet, the optimist! evicted him (he's so cosy...it was almost tempting to pretend I hadn't noticed my furry foot warmer)... returned after nappy 2 (poonami) and he's worked his way between the duvet and the extra fleece blanket on the top, haven't heart to evict him and he's lovely and warm against my back...

Susieloo · 14/12/2012 04:46

2nd feed of the night here so we are doing roughly three hours again, waking up and not feeling like I've been asleep which is horrid.

Sorry to hear about your brother amey, how worrying for you.

I had am email from the boots parenting club that made some reference to how I must be feeling less like a zombie now my baby was 5 months because I was getting more sleep hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Attempting transfer........

Ameybee · 14/12/2012 05:07

Thanks for the support everyone. Hopefully it won't be too long before the second op, he is fortunate that work have provided him with private healthcare which makes things slightly easier for him in terms of waiting.

This is 3rd feed here mrsn pretty sure we are at growth spurt as normally he just feeds a bit & he's properly going for it, can hear him gluggling away. Maybe next week he will sleep through.... I'm funny aren't I?! X

StuntNun · 14/12/2012 05:45

I'm just checking in. I have been reading all your posts but am too tired to formulate a coherent message.

MissingMyBaubles · 14/12/2012 06:13

I got that email too, Susie! I'm on third feed, although I did Missmarbles a disservice last post - she woke me just before 3 rather than just after 2 which meant just over 3 1/2 hours not just shy of 3. Since getting back to bed at 3.45ish, DD1 came in with earache, the fan heater in Missmarbles room kicked in and didn't seem to be going off so I got up to sort that only for it to go off as I got to it. I got back into bed and Missmarbles cried, so I got up to feed her, but she was asleep and then she woke me for real at 5.50ish but in the last 2 hours I've had precisely no valuable sleepXmas Sad

I think Missmarbles has yet another cold, and if DD1's earache is still present when she wakes up, it will likely be yet another day off school for herXmas Sad On the plus side, if that's the case, we will keep the doors locked and stay all snuggly for the dayXmas Smile

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 14/12/2012 06:26

amey so sorry to hear about your brother, really tough for you all. My thoughts are with you.
small four months is indeed fantastic. We managed just under that. And you know, we may be on bottles, but Kid is still healthy and growing and happy and smiley and doing daft things that make me laugh! And he looks at me the whole time he feeds (which he doesn't do even with DH) so I think the bond remains.
mrsn glad you had a nice time at your lunch!
funch did you gt some sleep in the end? Crossing my fingers here!
baubles Xmas Sad for more illness, but hope you enjoy snuggles if you must!

JRsandCoffee · 14/12/2012 07:09

Hope everyone managed a bit more sleep, sounds really tough doind three and more feeds and I'm sure I have it to come!! We managed until just a few moments ago, hurrah!! Feel vaguely human and DH on Christmas hold now, shame it's blowing a hoolie outside, very glad tho that I can delegate morning dog walk Smile

Hope you all have good days when you get to them!

Smallgreenone · 14/12/2012 08:16

Possibly our worst night ever. Am sure I had precisely no sleep until DH got up at 5.30 and took charge so I got.........1hr15 mins and those 15mins mean a lot !! Lord only knows what was up with him- teeth? Too young for teeth? Can't see any or feel any. Anyway he was a monster and not even the old failsafe of co sleeping helped.
goat thanks for your reassurance on bonding and bottles. We start today after this feed! Just need to check Kelly mom sight for advice on how much he needs and defrost the required amount.
Blowing a hoolie (love that expression) here too so will be staying close to home too. jr you're little dog sounds v sweet. We have a beagle who I rarely allow on the bed but when he is allowed, usually when DH is away he sleeps with his head on a pillow on dh's side, I swear he thinks he is a person!
