Is there a breastfeeding while pregnant thread already?

If not would anyone like to join me?

Experienced and first time feeding while pregnant mums welcome. I'm almost 11 weeks with DC2 and am still feeding DS (15 months). We are currently working at night weaning him (although he is incredibly persistent) and he still feeds 3/4/5 time per day, although he is starting to eat more solids.

I don't know anyone in RL who has fed whilst pregnant or tandemed and it would be great to be able to share frustrations etc with others.

So please come and join me, or point me in the direction of the right thread

oh and I've not yet packed my labour bag Hmm

AngelDog · 04/10/2011 14:23

MBJ, I've been lurking (I'm deffo not pg Hmm but am still bf :)) and apparently 18-21 months is a big developmental patch and it calms down again at 22 months, so you may be lucky with your DS's naps. Early waking and non-napping sounds pretty normal developmental leap behaviour to me.

PS Good luck to you all, especially MBJ and MoonFace.

PenguinArmy · 04/10/2011 14:27

angel I've been thinking of asking you whether there was anything around 19 months Grin

thanks :)

KD0706 · 04/10/2011 15:01

Hi all. Just a quickie as DD is napping and I want to grab 40 winks too.
All went fine today. Measuring exactly 12 weeks. Docs fab and v helpful. Total time in hospital 2 hrs 20 mins so they were certainly thorough.

They didn't bat an eyelid about BFing.

Discussed the next birth and I'm fairly certain I'll be elective CS. Both doctors I saw said it's concerning that I was 10cm dilated with a 31 weeker (on 9th centile for 31 weeks so not huge) and she couldn't even be delivered by foreceps. They said the doc I have is one of their most experienced and if he couldn't deliver her nobody could.

Anyway, hope everybody's having good days and I hope the midwife went well Sui

TheRealMBJ · 04/10/2011 19:00

Is it wishful thinking angel that has you lurking Wink?

I am sure you are right re the developmental leap. He does suddenly seem more communicative, not necessarily more verbal though. Perhaps that is what he s working towards?

Hopefully it passes before DD gets here though however I suppose it is unlikely Sad

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 04/10/2011 19:22

Kd, how are you feeling post apt? Sounds like you are in safe hands and growth is fab. Grin

Penguin am now 4 days over. Mbj Fingers crossed for sunday for you (so you can rest on sat when your dh is back in prep for labour Wink Thinking of you both. Smile

Angeldog it's so nice to see you here (have been having bit of an mn break and missed you! Blush ...wish twas for a 9m residencey...hopefully that wont be far off! Ds went mental sleepwise at 18m but seems to be over it now Grin

Hope mw went well sui. Smile

Hopeing my twinges will start up again now it's dark...and lead to something!

AngelDog · 04/10/2011 22:37

You've got it, MBJ Blush And I just like learning more about natural term bf. With the amount DS is currently feeding AF is likely to be a looong time returning. Hmm At least DH has stopped talking about weaning for the time being. :)

You can read about the 18-21 month leap here. A lot of it is to do with increases in working memory.

You never know how it'll affect them though - DS has always gone loopy during developmental leaps, but the 18 month one passed us by and even now at 21 months things aren't too bad, so there's hope your LOs can improve.

TheRealMBJ · 04/10/2011 22:44

No need to be Blush angel, we're a pretty cool bunch. (Even if I do say so myself Grin). Will read your link tomorrow as am on my phone now. How is MYNT going? Are you enjoying it?

Hopefully we will have some good news from moon in the morning.

AngelDog · 05/10/2011 08:38

MYNT is fab - finished it now. :) Thanks for suggesting it, it was really useful.

Yes, you are a pretty cool bunch. Grin

TheRealMBJ · 05/10/2011 08:49

Have you managed to get your DH to read the fathering chapter? I would really like mine to read it but he isn't really interested Sad

AngelDog · 05/10/2011 10:20

I've not even tried, tbh - he wouldn't have time and he's not that interested really.

I think the key to him being supportive of bf is if he feels it makes our life easier and if he thinks DS really needs it rather than wanting it in the way a spoilt child wants things they don't really need. I do think DS needs it in that way still, so I'm trying to be careful not to complain about bf when it's irritating and help DH see that it does make life easier for all of us.

It's hard, isn't it?

KD0706 · 05/10/2011 11:41

How old is your DS angel ?

Its funny how dads can be about nursing. DH now thinks it's appalling when women formula rather than breast feed and has passed comments (only to me) about how shocked he is that friend's of ours have formula fed from a young age. So in that way is much more 'militant' than me. But he would be really shocked at, say, a 3 year old 'still' nursing whereas I would think that was lovely.

Perhaps DH is just more opinionated than me!!

I get ludicrously excited whenever moon leaves more than about 12 hours between her posts and keep checking back here to see if there's an update. As though she won't have other things on her mind if she's labouring / just had a baby!!

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 05/10/2011 14:38

Still nothing. Was feeling very glum and sorry for myself first thing but have since seen a friend and scoffed four eclairs Shock and feel much better. Grin
Having some random tightenings now so fingers crossed (again). In my pg with ds i was in labour at this point, and he was born at 9.33 tonight iyswim. This baby is clearly just more laid back.

Bless you for being so concerned kd. Smile

Must read mynt. Has anyone read bf older children? I loved it. Smile

TheRealMBJ · 05/10/2011 16:16

Ah moon, I woke up with quite a painful BH in the middle of the night and was convinced I was going into labour. However, it was the only one the and since.

DS has been out with his granny (MIL) all day and I'm waiting for the to get back. Have not done much while they were out Blush and just had a long nap.

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 05/10/2011 20:22

well these are still going...bit irregular but growing in intensity. I'm tired and could do with a kip first though! And ds napped late so will be up late.

Don't blame you for having a break mbj! Smile

TheRealMBJ · 05/10/2011 20:57

Ooh, exciting. Sounds like it is happening. How about a nice warm bath and a sleep? Could be going properly when you wake up?

So, so exciting....

KD0706 · 05/10/2011 20:58

Ooh moon you've got me all excited now. Where is DS going to be if this is labour? Maybe it will happen tonight and he'll just sleep through it Smile

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 05/10/2011 22:59

have taken some paracetamol and gonna try and sleep...maybe in glider so can rock through contractions. Ds is asleep, dh will stay with him and take him to mil's when necessary. Ctx still irregular but around 40/50 secs every 5 min on average. Have given mw's a heads up but think it'll be tomorrow before things really kick off.

PenguinArmy · 05/10/2011 23:01

is your MILs nearby. The plan is for DH and DD to hang around outside the labour ward until my DM makes it over, about 2.5hrs away.

good luck with the sleep tonight

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 06/10/2011 04:57

yes mil v close.
Had some good rest but ds is now nursing loads which tough during ctx. Won't be long till i can get him up though.

Think i might have a baby today! Grin

TheRealMBJ · 06/10/2011 05:54

How exciting! Wow.

What does it feel like feeding trough the contractions?

Yay!

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 06/10/2011 06:46

it feels fine tbh. Had to sit on edge of chair so could rock through them...prefer standing now but he's watching baby jake for now...

Tempted to send him to mil's but think could still take ages...

AngelDog · 06/10/2011 08:13

Best of luck, MFM :)

EauRouge · 06/10/2011 09:24

Ooooooh, how exciting!! Good luck MFM, I'll be thinking of you today. I would say keep us posted but you'll probably be too busy Grin Hope all goes well x

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 06/10/2011 09:44

thanks eaurouge and angeldog. Think we pretty much have labour now. Eek! Grin
