TW. Noah. The PSNI and their failure to investigate his death?

belfastmedia.com/what-are-the-police-hiding-in-the-noah-case
by Elly Omondi Odhiambo

Noah Donohoe was found lifeless in a storm drain on June 27, 2020. A post-mortem report declared that he died as a result of drowning. Well, because the job of the police is to look at every possible and impossible, there has been a growing number of Belfast residents wanting to know if there was a racial motivation in the death of Noah Donohoe. People want to know the truth. The more the family of Noah and public are cautioned against making so-called unsubstantiated statements, the more they hunger for the truth. The PSNI is bungling this sad case

This 14 year old set off on his bike one Sunday, two years ago now, to meet a friend. They were working on a Duke of Edinburgh award.

Six days later, his naked body was found a kilometre inside an unlocked storm drain, in a part of Belfast he did not frequent.

Apparently, the police announced that there was no foul play involved, on the very day that his body was found. Even before an autopsy took place. There still has been no Inquest.

The police version of events is that: Noah fell from his bike, sustained a head injury, removed his clothes in confusion, ditched his bike, wandered off naked into a part of the city he would not usually go into, and somehow ended up drowned a kilometre inside an ( unusually) unlocked storm drain.

I understand that Noah was of African/Irish heritage. Police have never considered a racial element in his death and disappearance. Another schoolboy a fortnight earlier, had been attacked and chased by a group of youths whilst cycling. He escaped from them only after running three miles to safety. Police did not investigate any links between the incidents.

His mother's demand for answers from the Police Service Northern Ireland appears to have been blocked by them. There is a petition requesting the release of these files.

Please, if you are able, can you support his mum Fiona, and sign the petition on MN?

This has been referred to as "the PSNI's Stephen Lawrence scandal". Let us pray and hope that it is not.

One of Noah's posters in situ. 💙

It is of great concern to hear that Fiona and her sister Niamh continue to be threatened and harassed.

Fiona and her sister Niamh appreciate all support, whether large or small, very much.
Niamh Donohoe on Twitter:
'Thank you to all who support our relentless fight for justice for Noah. We are just 6 short months away from Noah's Inquest date and there is still so much to be done. Noah's voice was heard loud & clear during #AE22, (the election), Noah's Army⚡made sure of that💙🙏⚡ WeWillNotStop⚡'

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 07/05/2022 21:05

Sinn Féin has now won 27 seats, confirming it as the biggest party in the Northern Ireland Assembly for the first time. Let's hope that the photo opportunity and spoken promises to support justice for Noah made to Fiona and Niamh in the past are finally acted upon.

It is now 99 weeks since this lovely boy was taken from his mummy, from his family, from his friends and from his future.

And this is what has been happening for those 99 weeks:

Really pleased to see this thread in Active.

I have been on a few of the other threads for Noah bumping etc and have asked @MNHQ to pin it at the top of Active but nothing happens.

Wouldn't it be amazing for Noah's Mum if the weight of Mumsnet got behind her fight for justice.

I have signed and shared on twitter.

Harrowing...

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 16/05/2022 13:41

I agree @mumsiedarlingrevolta

MNHQ did say they'd look at pinning a thread and had passed it to their Campaigns team, but it has not resulted in any support at all for this mother.

I emailed MNHQ again because I would really like them to justify why the AIBU thread about Noah isn't appearing in Active. It still wasn't in Active ie 'the 200 threads with recent posts' after a number of posts - in fact up to 20+ posts! - when other threads in Active of similar length and age haven't had any posts at all for an hour. Our experience seems to be at odds with the explanations.

This was the response:

Hi and thanks for getting in touch -
We'll take a look and get back to you when we can - but it's unlikely to be over the bank holiday weekend.
Really sorry about that.
Best wishes
Lily MNHQ

and then:

Hi again, and thanks for your email.
We don't have 'unsupportive' people 'fiddling with' our algorithms.
We appreciate that this probably isn't what you want to hear, but we have an algorithm for threads that appear in Active. We're sorry that your threads aren't featured as much as you'd like but it's not something that we're going to be able to change at the moment.
Best,
MNHQ

and then:

Reading back my response I realise the tone sounds snippier than I'd intended.
I do apologise for that - I think I just got a little frustrated because we've replied several times to you previously with regard to this same query.
I do understand this issue is very important to you but our Active page is designed to try to help ensure that newer queries, in which people are sometimes in dire need of a speedy response, don't get crowded out by very long running threads.
We're here to make parents' lives easier and to allow as many users as possible access to peer-to-peer advice and our design decisions are based on that principle.
Please be assured there is no conspiracy here - the Active page works the same for all threads.
Kind regards,
Michael.
MNHQ

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 16/05/2022 13:46

Yikes that reply from Michael was appalling-much worse than "snippy"
and his follow up not very impressive either...

I just feel like a cause like this deserves more space than the endless "what should I name my baby thread" which are of course fun but this is a parent's worst nightmare and I struggle to see why it can not be more supported here-on a Parenting forum...

The problems with the new Mumsnet platform might mean you need to zoom in on it/enlarge it to read, but I hope that will work ok. It works for me on 200%/250%.

How sad that an innocent child's face seems to threaten some people.

Three posters were placed on Shore Road, Belfast and all three damaged. One was repaired by a good soul. Now the repaired poster has been defaced again.

Do we have to ask why, or do we know why Noah's face is being deliberately cut out?

That is so sad to read. I can not imagine what it must be like to harbour such feelings, to resort to defacing a poster of a child who has tragically died. I hope Noah's family will get the answers they have been relentlessly seeking. It must be so hard for Fiona. I wish her well.

Fiona said on Twitter last night that the police have mistakenly disclosed something important to her that was left out of the statements of witnesses from Northwood Road, (where Noah was allegedly last seen cycling, running and naked). She also names a notorious individual who has allegedly been 'supporting' all those involved. This is all to the extent that it strongly indicates to Fiona that offences of perverting the course of justice have been committed. We can only hope this means that justice for Noah is a step closer. 💙

Sonia Bassey MBE #RootsandWings @ SoniaBassey1 on Twitter:
#Week99 Too many times we hear politics suggested as a reason not to speak up about injustices that are about fundamental human rights. Noah Donohoe went missing at the height of the #BlackLivesMatter movement in the UK. Ask the questions Fiona Donohoe needs answers to.

Sonia Bassey MBE on Twitter #RootsandWings @ SoniaBassey1 :
It is 'lawful' for informants to commit crimes. It Is even deemed 'critical' to national security. We also know of many cases where informants have got away with murder. It literally is a great cover for a sick deviant mind.
100 wks ago the room of life went silent. The joy, heartbeat, whit, humour, warmth, intellect, talent, love, companionship, friendship in that room called Noah became our voice around the world. No one will ever silence you as that day you gave a little bit of yourself to all 💙
