Global Anti- Blackness, China now Ukraine, it too much

It's soul destroying to watch other black people suffer in the middle of a pandemic or war where it has nothing to do with race. The videos from China was horrible. Now we are seeing the same from Ukraine. Why? We are people too. The chances of this war spread to the UK is not far off and that scares me.
We all see colour and it's annoying when people claim they don't. Evidence from around the world shows hate. I hope the black resident of Ukraine and black students trying to leave find away out. I joke they survive too. They should have the same right as everyone else who wants to leave.

By the way, don't come at me that this is not the time. It is and I am tired. We are humans too.

Yes, I was very struck by that comment, as a white Irish person. I'm sorry that so many have to deal with these sorts of attitudes.

I'm not black so I hope I'm allowed to comment. I'm beyond disgusted and upset at the second class treatment shown to black refugees in Ukraine. Some have been though war before, too. Sone have had their education snatched from them at the last hurdle, close to their finals. It is a shame on the whole planet.
I was just thinking what an awful blow it must be for these students. What sacrifices their parents would have made to pay for their university courses (presumably they went to a country where this would have been mchmoe affordable). Now, they are not only caught up in a conflict and being treated appallingly; they also lose their qualifications, the money they sunk into their education, and the brighter future that graduating would have brought for them and their families. It's beyond sad.

Thanks @TheBlackDarner the assumption that you hold the same beliefs as people because you share the same colour skin is enfuriating. I have had to speak up and correct countless people over the years, always much to their surprise.

It makes me so sad, I am not black, so I discuss and explain and I support my DDs. But I can never say I fully understand how it feels because I can't, i am white so will never fully understand how they feel and it breaks my heart.

I'm white, but saw the thread title and hope I can join in. So utterly disgusting how it is so glaringly apparent how white, blue eyed people are so incredibly precious and everyone else is collateral damage. I've started emailing my local churches who are opening daily to 'pray for Ukraine' to ask why they weren't praying for Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan and Palestine. Just to name a few of the many recent atrocities ongoing to Black and brown people. It makes me utterly ashamed.

@IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble The most precious thing you have there is the love you so obviously have for your DD and DH. We see from how you write, how much you have their backs. It's a tough call being a Mum. I hope it's ok to send a safe sisterly hug your way and to the lovely people looking in and supporting on this thread.

I've got tears down my face tonight, unusual for a tough old girl like myself. I realised that this is possibly the first time I've returned to a thread here on BMN and there's not been some eejit remark to step over.

I am mixed race but you wouldn't be ablr to tell where from. Over the years I've had many a person make some racist comment and try to draw me in, only for me to tell them I didn't agree.
One time I was standing in a group at the school gates and someone literally said that they wanted to say something ( racist observation probably) but they 'd wait till later because I was standing there with them and they knew I wouldn't be happy. I just said to say what you like, and walked off.

And now even after this young lady escaped a war zone, travelled to two different border posts only to finally be allowed into Romania despite being physically threatened and told to go back, she is now being doxxed, receiving death threats and racist messages, for bringing awareness to the issue. THey just don't rest.

I really hope, really hope that when this war is over, no person of Colour steps foot in the Ukraine/ Poland to study.

They happily take overseas student fees and treat us like crap.. even with bombs being dropped, we can’t get a break!

I wish to god the African and Jamaican embassies had been as on the ball as China in getting their nationals out of there.
Where was the same effort?.. knowing that our colour would be barrier to our safety, it’s last minute , sort it out yourself mentality that infuriates me..bloody China had planes fuelled ready to go for their people!

No more.. this shit cannot go on any longer.
This crap I’m reading now about Ukraine government telling African men who want to fight for Ukraine have to pay £1000! What for?!!
I hope no Africans are stupid enough to sign up .. lord knows Ukraine would not step up and fight for our nations and we look like idiots for doing so.

Having watched black people being beaten up and thrown off trains etc, why now try and recruit them? 🙄

I read it was that they were offering $1000 dollars to mercenaries to join up? Not sure. I will try and find some reliable sources later on.

I think Algeria and Senegal advised their own people that fighting like this for a foreign government is illegal.

Even now Maassi there is reluctance to acknowledge racism/ anti blackness in the threads on the main board.

As if somehow we are undermining the Ukrainians. The sad reality being that it is their own who are tarnishing their cause. I kept hoping naively for the leadership to firmly and strongly call it out.
