Black "don't" crack!

lotussnow · 30/10/2021 23:54

I know. I know this doesn't apply to every Black person but it's true (in my experience) that a lot of Black people tend to look stunning, gorgeous and naturally look younger than their age.

I'd have posted pictures of regular Black people but I can't for privacy reasons so I'm posting Black celebrities with public image gotten from Google. Whether there's been work done or not, there's no denying the natural youthfulness and beauty still popping.

Regina Hall - 50
Kenneth Babyface Edmonds - 62
Taraji P. Henson - 51

I'll post more. Photos will be between 2020 and now. Mostly 2021. I don't care if it's seen as vain, I'm just celebrating Black beauty. If I don't, who will? Please feel free to add if you want to.

Dry skin wrinkles easier and oily skin doesn’t. Black people generally have oilier skin than white people. It’s science. 😊

GreenLunchBox · 31/10/2021 08:49

@lotussnow

On the other end of the spectrum you've got Morgan Freeman who was born looking 58 grin

Don't mess with Pa Morgan. Some of us have to take one for the team! He still doesn't age and has looked the same since I was little till now. So win win!Grin

Haha, this reminded me of this twitter thread: twitter.com/DavidDTSS/status/1360948812458708993?t=9FdSvUW9rvunw0mcHnTYDw&s=19 Grin

This has made me a bit tearful and I can't quite work out why. I think it's because you just don't see this anywhere - such an array of spectacular, glowing, full-of-life-and-wisdom black faces being praised and celebrated, one after another. I love it.

(And the snippy little comments from people trying to spoil it - why not just butt out? Why do you feel the need to bring people down?)

I linked Bob Marley's Three Little Bird above. Maybe it would help them find peace.DaffodilBrew

Laughing at that twitter link. And off topic the pic of the guy who wanted to buy the washing machine but try it first. Washed his clothes. Said he was going for the money and never returned. Free wash!Grin

I'm white, 40s, not too hideous, professionally sucessful-ish and all that sort of stuff. Bloody hell, I'd kill to look like some of those pictures above. Regardless of age, there is just such beauty.

Orchidflower1 · 31/10/2021 09:09

@JingsMahBucket this is the wonder that is astral. Nivea blue is also fab.

I thought black people had drier skin?
TheWayOfTheWorld · 31/10/2021 09:12

Great pictures!

This reminds me of a colleague I worked with - I was fairly new in the department and I commented on the pictures she had of her children around her desk.

Dear reader, they were her grandchildren 😂.

I thought she was in her 30s and she was in her 50s. I think she actually used the phrase "black don't crack" 😎

She was a fairly "ordinary" woman IYSWIM but had amazing skin.

I'm not black if that's relevant
Black don't crack was said to me by a male work colleague years ago who I presumed was the same age as my DH. He was 20 years older
Beautiful pics of a v good looking race.
I've also noticed the good looks of black teenagers compared to their white peers in DC's school chums

debbrianna · 31/10/2021 10:19

Reading that twitter link just threw me regarding Fred Hampton. I didn't realise these were 18-20+ year olds. 😳 David kaluuya was definitely too old for the role. He was great though.

Starseeking · 31/10/2021 11:07

Babyface is 62?!? Looking like that??? My goodness!

lotussnow · 31/10/2021 11:08

He's not called Babyface for no reasonGrin Love him!

@Dmsandfloatydress

As a mixed woman this was easily observed with my parents. When they were young they both looked the same age. Come 40 my white mothers face looked like a bag of spanners and my father looked young enough to be her son. Dad still looking fabulous at 70 , mum looks like a proper grave Dodger. I always wished to be darker skinned than I am. My darker skinned cousins look like spring chickens in their fifties despite all still smoking!!! Still, I still look better than my white cousins the same age as me so I should be thankful for the melanin I did receive. My husbands dad is the same. Black man looks like his younger, white wifes son! She hates it! Grin

Your turns of phrase really made me laugh!

Starseeking · 31/10/2021 11:17

I love love love this thread celebrating Black beauty, in all its glorious forms.

Thank you @lotussnow!

lotussnow · 31/10/2021 11:17

My main husband crush from back in the day was Morris Chestnut. Followed by Blair Underwood. Can't be monogamous when you have an abundance of handsome men!

Pleased to see they've still got it. I made the right choice Grin

I love beautiful people.

Even though they all look amazing and young for their age, it’s so refreshing to see real people embracing their looks.

I’m fed up of all the celebs all starting to look the same having lip, boob and bum fillers, ridiculously dark tan etc.

RoxOff · 31/10/2021 12:06

Naomi Campbell is a goddess. The woman looks the same now as she did in the 90s. Glorious skin, bone structure and natural physique.

debbrianna · 31/10/2021 12:09

Naomi Harris is 45.

KristinAmandaThomas · 31/10/2021 12:16

I’ve observed the black don’t crack thing with regards black looks for years - often seems like time stands still for black skin. Absolutely beautiful skin, so few lines or wrinkles. But it’s more than that, it’s just a kind of retained beauty/glow that white skin tones don’t have.
