When a family member (white) tried to order egg on toast in Turtle Bay as the food "looked disgusting."

People who say "goat curry", not curry goat. 😂

twilightcafe · 16/09/2020 14:25

People who mispronounced Antigua.
IT'S NOT 'ANTI-GUA'

Phoenix21 · 16/09/2020 14:32

But where are you really from?

Clearly not WI as to my shame I cannot actually kiss my teeth 😳

OWU4U · 16/09/2020 15:10

When someone asked if I can make rice and PEA.

EchoCardioGran · 16/09/2020 15:13

It's not possible to kiss your teeth when you are wearing dentures.
That is toothist against gummy older people.Halo
I'm more of a sigher or a huffer.

EchoCardioGran · 16/09/2020 15:15

@OWU4U

Just one pea? Austerity innit?
Dastardlythefriendlymutt · 16/09/2020 15:16

Anything that elicits the word "nonsense" from me

Which is nearly everything

Definitely slow/bad service though

foxyroxyy · 16/09/2020 15:43

😂

Okay I'll be the first one to say it.... when they used to ask me 'is that your real hair??'

Thank God I've now overthrown my oppressors and steadily, proudly rock my fro!!

Omg I am so grateful for this space.... ❤️

JayDot500 · 16/09/2020 15:45

When my DS cheekily says something smart enough to out-wit me Grin. The Caribbean girl within me will slowly kiss her teeth, while the Black British girl within pipes up and tells her son he's absolutely correct.

AMemeByAnyOtherName · 16/09/2020 16:54

Having to explain what a roti is, to be greeted with 'oh so like a tortilla wrap?'.

No. NO.

Not being able to buy roti skins 😢

AdventureCode · 16/09/2020 17:37

When everyone assumes my hair smells like coconut 🙄

Dastardlythefriendlymutt · 16/09/2020 17:46

Nail on the head. The African competitive overachiever in me kisses her teeth while holding herself back so I can compliment DC on their knowledge

Bodie83Nahla · 16/09/2020 18:29

Im the only non white (mixed race) person in puppy group and one of the ladies asked if I could plait her grandson's hair.. Sigh.. I can't do hair to save my life! I know she meant well but....

Swooningmonkey · 16/09/2020 19:16

Not being able to buy plantain or okra locally. 😒

ByTheSeaCatsandAll · 16/09/2020 20:08

Yes @AMemeByAnyOtherName I so wish I could buy decent roti skins!!

OWU4U · 16/09/2020 20:14

@EchoCardioGran just the one pea, evidently times were hard with him and his dinner choices 🤣

creativecringe · 16/09/2020 21:00

Plantain /okra. go yo waitrose.

Malahaha · 16/09/2020 21:48

This is the first time I've heard the term "kiss your teeth". Is this the same as what we used to say back home: suck your teeth? Or just plain steups?

PompomDahlia · 16/09/2020 22:08

Someone who is very keen to tell you all about their black friend.

I'm working on perfecting my roti dough but can't get the texture!

RazzleDazz1e · 16/09/2020 22:23

“Rice and beans”

To be fair Turtle Bay is barely above dog food! Grin Wr had the pork ribs, jerk chicken and curry goat and it all tasted the same Hmm.
BAYouTFall · 16/09/2020 23:40

When I was asked “where’s the best jerk chicken shop ?” Hmm (I was in a group of people from different backgrounds)

I don’t know! I don’t usually eat jerk chicken...

JingsMahBucket · 16/09/2020 23:43

I didn’t even know this was a thing!

I grew up saying “suck your teeth” too @Malahaha but also “hiss your teeth”.
TooCloseToTheProject · 17/09/2020 00:00

@malahaha are you a Trini? We would say steups Wink
