Hi all,

Just checking in! Seems everyone does different things with the babies once they arrive!

For my dd she woke every 3 hours, without fail for the first 6 weeks, so she was bfed everytime. After that I think I still did a 3h feed, although after 10 weeks, fed at 5 and 7, then a dream feed at 10.30ish and she slept till about 4/5. This got longer eventually, and at about 4-5 months was sleeping 7-7 with a dreamfeed at 10.30. Think the dream feed went at 10 months ish. After 6 months she was at nursery having 2 FF a day....at 11 and 3 as she was on a 4h feed then.

Weaning early ish (16/17 weeks) as lots of probs with reflux and helped to have a bit more solids in there. Recommended by HV as a possible help. Started on rice and baby milk, then mashed, then whole bananas. DD was ready to eat solid bananas much quicker than I was, she just grabbed it out of my hand and stuffed it in her mouth!

I found the BabyWhisperer books really helpful, but don't stress about routines until after 10 weeks as neither you or the baby kno which way is up and you get yourself into a tizz worrying about doing the 'wrong' thing! (at least I did!!)

Sorry for mammoth post...am really fed up after a night of contractions that stopped. Was so sertain it would develop, even took dd to friend's house in preparation. Feel rather silly now, but still having twinges this morning. Off for a walk soon to try and encourage things to start up again! grrrrgrrr

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun (sorry gracie)
xx

wwsw another one my mum lost so much bllod they wanted her to eat raw liver but now they tell you during pregnancy dont touch liver! give it a year or 2 and it will all change again!
second time mums sorry if TMI but how much do you bleed for afterwards some say 2 weeks some say 6 weeks thats a 4 week difference!! my periods were never longer that 4 days so i thin either way im going to be in for a shock!!

Wonderstuff · 24/06/2010 08:36

Thats a shame dh we have a massive Primark near us.
Had an awful nights sleep - tossing and turning, too hot, too cold, then some small animals started squeaking outside (I think must have been foxes, sounded that size) then the pigeons started at the crack of dawn, I think the fear of going into labour is keeping me awake - which is just silly I've probably got weeks yet. Just feel really anxious about everything atm. Dh is working really hard and is obviously worried about his job - the thought of them making people redundant is just terrifing, he is in sales and had a bad month last month and it is just really scary that another couple of those and he is out of a job and there really aren't any about. Him earning decent commission would be handy atm as well. I feel awful that I'm making things worse by going on mat leave, I don't know what I think I can do about that or why I feel this, we both made the baby. Sorry about rant, it will all work out I think being tired makes you more stressed doesn't it. Think I'll go and make some coffee.

Chulita · 24/06/2010 08:44

memphis I bled for just over 12 weeks after DD. Certainly made up for the nine months of nothing - but then didn't get my period back til 9 months later.

wonder sorry you're feeling so stressed, being tired certainly makes it worse. Hope you get time to put your feet up today!

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/06/2010 08:50

Thanks violet its a bit of a trek to my nearest primark so prob wont be going back there before LO is born now. Ill get some nighties either from Tesco or Matalan as they are still very good value for money.

wonder the oxford street primark in London is the biggest and best Ive ever been in! The one nearest me is quite dire.

My friend kindly told me yesterday that her mum went into labour 3 weeks early with her bro so I should get my hospital bag sorted asap lol.
DP said last night he doesnt think our lives are going to change that much, I think he's going to have a big wake up call when LO is here lol. Bless him.

OP posts:
memphis83 · 24/06/2010 08:57

dh i got nighties from peacocks £4 each and they do darker colours and bottons on the front if you need them
chulita 12 weeks oh my god no wonder people dont tell you these thing before you get pregnant no one would have children if they got told the things people keep quiet!

violetbubbles · 24/06/2010 09:05

Thanks for the advice WickedWitchSouthWest and Gracie123. I'll wear a pantyliner and take it with me to the hospital later.

Had a busy morning already. Finalised birth plan for ELCS, packed post-op hospital bag, tidied drawers and wardrobes, in case MIL pops over to help out with housework next week (don't want her thinking we live like slobs) and now I'm sterilising my breast pump kit and bottles. Phew! Got my scan at 12.30pm today then pre-op assessment at 2.30pm so trying to get everything sorted 'just in case' .

Can't believe we'll all have babies soon!
xx

Gracie123 · 24/06/2010 09:16

I'm not sure the bleeding is related to your period tbh.
My sis has fairly light periods and bled for about 6 weeks post partum.

I have incredibly heavy periods and only bled for about a week and a half! My friend bex said it was only four days (but very heavy four days!)

Annoyingly it is still cold and wet, and ive got loads of laundry to do! Serves me right for being lazy when it was sunny.

Chulita · 24/06/2010 09:30

I don't think it's related at all, it's just how quickly your body seals up inside. I presume every birth will be different!

gracie I can't believe it's cold where you are, blow some down south please!

violet wow! It's all go for you isn't it! I know what you mean about MIL, mine always starts on the 'to do' list in the kitchen

stac14 · 24/06/2010 10:06

Morning ladies

chulita your so brave waddling bout with 2 toddlers, you trying to get labour started lol

dee you poor love, hope it gets going again for you hun

memphis i bled for bout 3wks after ds but i have pcos now so i am thinking i may be bleeding longer but who knows

wonder i have been feeling anxious too but think i'm getting worried as i don't like stayin in hospital. We'll all be fine

dh my dp has a 12 year old and still thinks life will be a walk in the park lol. He keeps talking bout me going out etc, goodness knows when i'l have the energy for that lol

Wow violet your so organised, i'm going to get sorted over the weekend as i go in for my steroid injections next week. Oo, the first babies will be here next week aw, cant wait to see the pics and find out what you have

gracie it was raining here last night but its brightened up again now.

Anyone up to much today? Ds isnt at school so thats him finished for the summer, a friend asked what i am doing to keep him amused i said giving him a sister in 2 wks lol x

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/06/2010 10:16

Its so boiling here today! Im doing the last of the baby stuff washing and going to try and motivate myself to clean the bathroom

DP and I put up the wall stickers in the nursery last night around the cot, they look so sweet!

OP posts:
memphis83 · 24/06/2010 10:58

stac your ds is already off school? wow they dont finish til the 17th july here!
dh not as hot here today but its still warm, i am trying to get up of sofa to clean our bathroom as well its one of those jobs i hate! currently waiting for all our throws and cushion covers to finish beinf washed 1st though!
been watching baby programs this morning, cant believe how different things are in america, they seem to only want to do things if there is a special cushion or gadget to do it with! family also seem to be at the house when they get home and stay all day! i would go mad, my friend gave birth in america and had about 8 of her dh's relatives in the room with her !

stac14 · 24/06/2010 12:04

dh i cant be bothered moving either have to clear my wardrobe out, boring!!

memphis its cos we're in scotland so his holidays are different. He should be in today and tomorrow but i let him off to suit me cos i'm lazy lol

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/06/2010 12:33

memphis I only bled for a week, but I had the placenta manually removed so I'd had a good old scrape out Am very prepared to bleed alot more this time - as long as the third stage actually happens... Period didn't come back til dd was 9 months.

dh lol at your husband! Mine was the same before dd arrived, he soon saw the error of his ways though

wonder I'm nervous too, ridiculous really seeing as I've done it all before. Thing is I had no slow build up of contractions and no real signs at all with dd so I just feel in limbo at the moment!

I need to move my arse from the sofa and get some lunch, clean the guinea pigs out and put some washing on the line. I've done tescos and I don't think it's physically possible to ram any more food or cleaning products in the house! And the car is full of diesel. I'm ready! (She says watching husband pulling up carpet for cableing for the new tv with furniture flat packed all around us and the sofa in the middle of the room ).

kkfairybrains · 24/06/2010 12:47

ooh delta! fingers crossed for you! im dying for someone to pop! really cant believe it stil hasn't happened! hoping it'l be me that goes first but doubt that'l happen! im always paddy last!
wonder its completely normal to be anxious about things at this stage and even more so in your position.but as you say there's nothing you can do about it.just hope things pick up a bit.one things for sure is that worrying always makes things look worse than they are and it stil doesnt change anything xx
violet good luck with the app.hopefully they dont insist on doing it today xx
well no news here really.have antenatal class today. this is second last one. been cleaning like a mad thing.i swear i've pulled out absolutely everthing. even washed the coal bucket which dp thought was absolutely hilarious! evrything finally coming together though so im delighted! only have the small bathroom downstairs and our room to do today and then everything done! dunno what im goona do with myself then!

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/06/2010 13:27

Ive made a total of one freezable meal which is last nights chilli, I made way too much so froze some. I need to make some more meals like that though cos I wont be cooking straight away when LO is here and Im really not counting on DP's cooking lol.

I still havent cleaned the bathrooms, Ive just had lunch and now feel really sleepy, might try and have a nap first.

OP posts:
stac14 · 24/06/2010 13:58

wwsw my livingroon has a newly built set of drawers in the middle of the floor with the cotbed in a box, mattress and bedding in there too. So much for tidiness lmao

kk i'm sure you'll just start again lmao. I need to go to the shops as i dont have any black bags. At least your dp lets you get on with it mine moans when i try anything lol

dh i have done bugger all either, ds fell asleep then i wasnt far behind him lol.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel they could sleep all the time? Thank goodness i only have 2 weeks yay x

Wonderstuff · 24/06/2010 14:31

kk lmao at cleaning the coal bucket! Well HV came and left reassured that we are a fairly happy healthy family - now have red book to add to the hospital bag list.

I cleaned my bathroom yesterday (preens) every thing other than the downstairs floors that need a wash has been cleaned this week, now I've just got to keep on top of it.

DD has refused to sleep this afternoon so no nap for me, could do with a lie down. She is currently in her bedroom and I'm ignoring her hoping she doesn't do to much damage going to check on her in a minute.

Was brave enough to look at our credit card bill and next months budget earlier, and I reckon we'll survive another month, do wish we had some savings, we have an overdraft but it's not quite the same is it

Right last time I left dd upstairs for this long she had found the cream so best go and do some damage limitation.

Gracie123 · 24/06/2010 18:58

wwsw 12 oz? Pffft! I could get 20 if I tried, but DS wouldn't drink that much and we only had a small freezer drawer in our fridge! So now you see why I was waking up before DS...

kk if you run out of things to do there is always an open invitation to come and clean visit my pit house!

wonder my sis left her dd alone for too long once and the entire upstairs got painted with a guests toothpaste. Still, at least everything was minty fresh!

Just got back from consultant who says bloodflow through cord is really good although protein in urine still very high and bp quite high just going to keep monitoring for now.

Physio has ordered me a zimmerframe which I get to pick up Tuesday

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/06/2010 19:59

dh my freezer is so full I can't fit any ice cream in it, which is a bit of schoolboy error seeing as this gorgeous weather is going to continue! dd has a drawer of her own (so I cna always find the things I do for her lol) and she has fishcakes, mini pizzas, fishfingers, spag bol, chilli and cheese sauce for making macaroni cheese or cauliflower cheese. The rest of the freezer has stuff for me & dh but pretty similar to dd's. I've also bought some of those fresh pasta tortellini's and portioned them up into freezer bags to make quick lunches for us if I need to. They only take a couple of minutes, drizzle of oil and bit of salad so a nice quick meal. Am rather hoping for good weather though so dh can bbq as much as poss saving the freezer stuff for when he's back to work!

stac glad to hear your front room is not exactly visitor-ready too . Am being promised that some painting will happen tonight but the sofas aren't due to turn up til mid July and the ebay auction on our old one finishes this Sunday

Oh and I could sleep all afternoon! In fact I get up, washed and dressed and after doing some jobs, about 10am I could easily go back to bed!

wonder what is this "savings" of which you speak? With a mortgage the size of ours savings really do take a back seat! If the money aint there, we don't do it!

gracie I am truly impressed! No wonder you were waking up to express, it must have been agony.

A zimmer frame yikes...mind you I think my best mate could have done with one with her spd, it was awful.

I could do with another nap. Pretty determined to get the rest of my tomatoes planted on, they are hanging out of their small pots! Ridiculously bought 6 dahlias earlier and am now wondering where on earth to put them. See, my nesting gets aimed at the garden!

wwsw our freezer only has 4 small drawers so he will have to share with us! I also dont own any tupperware type boxes to store the food in so might need to invest in a few different sized ones.
Sounds like you might be sitting on cushions on the floor for a couple of weeks

mlic yeah my gran was under the impression I can go about my normal life as "babies just sleep all the time" err..yeah gran ok
