Alicetheinvisible · 19/04/2010 08:12

Me too. Last 2 nights i have been up about 4 times a night to go for a wee. Baby does seem to be kicking downwards though.

ElusiveMoose · 19/04/2010 08:29

Me too. About 5am, like clockwork. Nothing to do with weeing for me, though. Not sure what it is, except that I'm alway really wheezy and snuffly when I wake. I'm quite an allergic rhinitis type of person anyway, but the pregnancy has definitely made it worse.

mrsZaC · 19/04/2010 08:46

morning ladies,

Chin up pample sorry to hear your having a good time, will baby cheer you up? mine manages to do that when I'm feeling blue.. gives me a little kick and it cheers me right up

emster Zoe is a cracking name - hehe my name! I have the little dots above the 'e' a must if you ask me

got some free samples from mama tea, I had the cool mama & was fab, would recommend, if you send them an email they will send you some free samples in the post... I know how much we like freebies!

soontobefatnat I struggle with my sleep every night, my dream genii has really helped but the other night I woke up at 5 (usual for me) and my back was agony, ended up nodding off with pillows stuffed under me and sleeping arms over them . I usually wake up about 1ish then 5ish, and I can't sleep properly with hubby in the bed. My heart palpitations seem to get much worse when I'm trying to get to sleep aswell, and at the moment is combined with baby kicking about so altogether not condusive to sleeping!

On a positive note I've been feeling proper big kicks now and i love it! poor DH still hasn't managed to cop a feel yet, baby plays games with him, I feel so sorry for him, he looks so dissapointed sometimes when I tell him baby is kicking about.. he's desperate to feel something.

soontobefatnat · 19/04/2010 08:54

Glad to hear there's a little 5am gang going! It'll make me feel less grumpy when I'm wide awake and DH is blissfully asleep beside me. A friend has lent me her dream genie, which has made a huge difference to my comfiness in bed. Roll on the move and the super kingsize bed to follow!!

pamplem0usse · 19/04/2010 09:15

Thanks for all of the supportive messages ladies... I'm feeling better today after a good old sob yesterday! Feel quite positive about the fact that I'm moving towards a solution. My supervisor is currently stuck in NY so he reckons we might have had to reschedule the big presentation that this document is for anyway. Just waiting to hear back as to whether it will be possible to fit it in before the baby arrives (It'd be nice if I didn't as it'd make me less stressed... but equally it'd be nice to get it done!).....

For anyone who's trying to get their DH to feel kicks... my husband has been struggling for days but he put his face on my bump and managed to feel three big ones that way!

Lastly - bottles - I'm trying to get some for expressing and the ones that come with my pump are really difficult to get teats for. I wonder if anyone could advise me on the best bottles / teats they've used with their previous LO's.

And I hope you all have a wonderful Monday.... and thanks again, you did cheer me up (especially helping me to stop stressing about the LO!)....

JessieEssex · 19/04/2010 10:06

I can join the 5am club! It's so frustrating. First a wee, then the birds start chirping/squawking, then the baby starts kicking (not complaining about that bit though!), and then I drift off at about 6.15, and then the alarm goes at 6.30! SIGH xx

vix206 · 19/04/2010 10:16

Yep I'll join the 5am club. I rarely sleep for more than an hour or so without waking up. If it isn't excruciating cramp in one or both legs it is back ache, full bladder, cat miaowing, birds singing or DH snoring.

I tell myself its preparation for when the baby is born!

CherryPie3 · 19/04/2010 10:17

Good Morning everyone - wheres the lovely weather gone??

Hope you all had lovely weekends, ours was lazy . We did nothing on Saturday except watch football and order shopping online.

Yesterday we took the kids to feed the ducks and play at the park at Pontegract Racecourse yesterday and treated them to McDonalds for dinner.
When we got home I laid down on the sofa and woke up 3 hours later . Missed the entire 2nd half of Wigan v Arsenal match!! And that was the best half, oh well.

Hows everyone?

Congrats on your 'boy' news Bubba

sorry - that should have said Pontefract Racecourse!

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 19/04/2010 10:29

was very good and didn't have a cup of tea or coffee at all yesterday. Enjoying my cup of tea this morning though.

Anyone else feeling ridiculously hormonal all of a sudden? I don't know whether it is down to tiredness, but

I can't remember who said that they were thinking of week 36 as the last week of pg, so they can get stuff done, but great idea! I am 24weeks today, so the thought of only 12weeks to get everything done is a good kick up the backside! I am in the middle of writing out a week by week plan of stuff i need to get done by the end of each week.

marzipananimal · 19/04/2010 10:39

wow that's very organised alice. I'm ploughing through a list of things to do at the moment but none of it's baby related - we're moving house at the weekend. Apart from buying all the necessaries, is there anything else I should be getting done before August?

Alicetheinvisible · 19/04/2010 10:45

Very little of mine is baby related! It is mostly stuff that i keep meaning to do, but keep putting off and i know i have much more chance of it happening before DC2 arrives! Things like making the blinds for the living room, getting our bedroom decorated, sorting out all the junk not needed, getting a proper loft ladder fitted etc, also want to make a mobile for the baby, make DD some summer dresses etc so lots!

marzipananimal · 19/04/2010 11:53

yeah I suppose moving house is useful in a way - it means we're forced to sort out all the junk and get everything in order. Good luck with all the plans!

Alicetheinvisible · 19/04/2010 12:29

Thanks can post it if anyone is remotely interested once i have it a bit more ordered. I like lists, they make me feel as if i am in control

babyducky · 19/04/2010 13:40

Hi

sorry bubba forgot to say congrats on the boy

sorry to hear some of you are feeling a bit down about stuff.

Alice- I love lists too!
I also have 1 of everything that needs doing around the house before baby is born, which is just stuff like sorting out junk & bits of decorating etc, then I also have 1 for stuff we still need to buy for baby & a hospital bag list too!

Does anyone suffer with hayfever?
I have only had it for the last 2 summers but I can feel it coming on again now, I wonder if i can take anything??

My biggest craving at the moment is ice, ive stocked up on lots of different ice lollies, yum!

babyducky · 19/04/2010 13:42

Forgot to say Dh has at last felt the baby kick

babyducky · 19/04/2010 13:48

Are you ok cherry???

Just seen your other post about period kind of pains?x

Chulita · 19/04/2010 14:01

Just seeing if cherry had posted, hope you're ok!

Took DD for a beach walk today, down a steep hill and over 200 steps to the beach...of course that means over 200 steps back up and then the steep hill. I'm absolutely shattered! Thankfully DD has slept for a while so I've been having a rest although the electrician was here for 2 hours so had to potter around moving stuff so he could check plugs. I need a nap!

DH made choccy rice krispies cakes last night so I think I'll have one of them with a cuppa. Plenty for you lot too if you like

mrsZaC · 19/04/2010 14:10

yippee ducky a momentus moment!

lists r good, I have a big one but haven't actually bought anything yet, but think we're making moves towards getting the car seat and buggy, so it will be good to tick something off

Been getting this random really sore pain on my left side under bump, like I've pulled a muscle, it only seems to rear it's ugly head when I'm walking and usually in the afternoon - strange! I'm sure it's nothing to worry about just very uncomforable and annoying!

BTW on the pram front, anyone go the quinny buzz? I've heard mixed reviews about it, DH is quite keen but we haven't tested it out yet.

Dibbydab · 19/04/2010 14:18

Afternoon you chatterboxes!

25 weeks today with a proper bump leaving no one in any doubt that "that lady is pregnant", lots of people asking when I'm due and making conversation (I'm one of those people that will speak to anyone in a queue/supermarket etc).

Re names we've decided on Felicity Violet for a girl and undecided for a boy (though Harry James is looking like a winner at the moment, I'm just feeling a bit "meh" about boys names for some reason).

Spent yesterday pottering about in the garden in the sunshine, lovely day - bit windier today (the weather, not me), but still blue skies and sunshine.

DH and I are in danger of a major falling out over us attending (or not) a family Christening 400 miles away 4 weeks before my due date - 800 mile round car journey anyone? We're both skirting around the issue at the moment but it's going to blow up soon - I've told him that he's more than welcome to go on his own, but if he misses his baby being born that's his tough look out. I'm hoping the girls in his office will say to him "Are you completely insane - go and buy your poor wife a bunch of flower immediately to make up for your man brain not computing that 800 mile round trip and 36 week pregnant wife is BAD idea"

Dibbydab · 19/04/2010 14:22

Bunch of flower?? Flowers obv - one flower would put me in an even worse mood if that were possible

marzipananimal · 19/04/2010 14:45

crikey I'm with you dibby about no long journeys at 36 weeks! I'm unsure about going to a wedding 200 miles away when I'll be about 32 weeks.

babyducky I get hayfever (haven't had any symptoms yet though). You're not supposed to take tablets but you can get nasal spray and eye drops (which I think work mcuh better than tablets anway) - your doctor can prescribe them and then they'll be free, hurrah! I'm loving free prescriptions, it's like being 18 again!

Alicetheinvisible · 19/04/2010 14:59

We have been invited to a wedding about 200miles away 9days before due date - aint gonna happen! The worst bit is that is someone from DH's works wedding, and everyone but DH and one other are going which means DH will be on call that weekend.

MrsZ that sounds like the ligament pain i have been getting when i walk any faster than toddler speed. At first it came on so suddenly i honestly thought i had appendicitis

With the lists, i have started this thread to get ideas of food i can freeze for the last week or so of pg and first month after baby is born. Not going to start actually cooking til about 36weeks, but want to try out any new recipes first iyswim? Plus, after having various stays in hospital last pg, i am paranoid about being caught out again, especially as DD is here this time.

bouncingblueberries · 19/04/2010 15:04

mrsZaC we have a Quinny Buzz and love it! It's great if you do lots of walking or like trekking over hill and dale - a good solid buggy. We bought ours when ds was born and have just bought a new seat to make it a shiny and new again for dc2.

Bubbabear · 19/04/2010 15:11

My sympathies Dibby, we've just had a lovely holiday but the travelling was a bit of a nightmare. I had a mixture of a 4 hour train journey (on my own to meet DP) lugging my suitcase on & off 3 diff trains, a few days later a car journey from North Wales to Scotland, then the following week driving from Scotland down to Reading. We had to keep stopping at services after a couple of hours max as my back & legs were aching (so i used it as an excuse to get an ice cream ) But the point is this was all at just 21 weeks pregnant, let alone right before baby is about to appear! Plus im guessing if its just for a Christening, the trip back will be pretty soon after the journey up? DHs really just dont get it sometimes do they?

Im struggling a bit with boy names too. Girls names are so much cuter & easier to like! Before we found out the sex i had a mini mental list of lovely girls names that i wouldnt have thought twice about choosing (my favs were Evie and Bethany). Felt a bit sorry for DP the other night as he reeled off a whole list of boys names as suggestions & i was feeling so uninspired i just kept shaking my head at (almost) each one. There is one name ive always liked that was on his list but i have 2 kids in my class with that name this year & its getting a bit over-used already, feels like its been spoilt a bit. Help, its so hard!

Have just been to Adsa & saved £80 in all the promotions, cant remember who it was but thanks for the tip! Might be a few more reduced things to get yet aswell. Love buying baby things, just wish we could sort the nursery out sooner!
