morning ladies, I don't know how but I have completely fallen off this thread, just spent 10 mins looking for it again!

Anyway, I am:
novicemama - age 33, baby no. 2 - EDD 27 Dec

All my ms and nausea has disappeared, I feel completely normal which seems a bit suspicious... having my booking appt today at the docs, hoping they can get me a scan date so I have something to focus on as am only 7 weeks and it all feels a bit tentative.

Oh and I dug out my old maternity clothes from last time around this morning, think it might be time to go shopping...

DuelingFanjo · 07/05/2010 09:54

just adding you Novicemamma

hey, some cramping / aches have started up again but nothing else, im just monging about at home.

howcome two weeks ago i measured 8 weeks exactly, and according to scan yesterday, im 10+2 today?

OP posts:
likethemapples · 07/05/2010 12:19

Hello all

Just back from a lovely relaxing week on the Isle of Harris where I slowed everyone down on our walks. Fortunately we had a jack russell puppy with us who backed me up by having to be carried after too many miles, so I wasn't the only one. It was nice to be "out" for a week, but now I've got to go back to keeping quiet for another 3 weeks - scan not until 27th and I don't want to tell everyone until then. IT seems a very long way away!

Is everyone going to go ahead and have the combined test?

RaceyLacey · 07/05/2010 13:15

Hi everyone

firsttimer - sorry to hear your sad news.

RWD & OWO - hope the cramping etc stops soon & you can stop worrying.

Very jealous of all of you with you booking in appointments & scan dates. I've still not heard from mw & I'm 9+2 today. I hate htis waiting for something to happen part.

My counselling appt for today has been cancelled as the counseller is not well so will be doing that next Friday instead.

Boys are at their dads this weekend, , so weekend to ourselves but don't want them to go.

PJen · 07/05/2010 13:21

firstimer I'm really sorry to hear your news... so very sorry...

OWO are you feeling more up beat today? I have cramping too. After the last scan the consultant told me to not worry about it as she couldn't find anything wrong. She said it is probably due to a raptured ovary cyst. She said these cramps and mild discharg are normal... did they check your ovaries to see if you had a cyst?

How is everyone else?

PJen · 07/05/2010 13:24

Oh forgot my question, DH is down with a bad flu. He had temp 40 this morning and shaking in bed (!!) What if I get it? I vaguely remember at the time of H1N1 pandemic they were saying that pregnant women are at risk and should get hospitalized. What shall I do if I go down with flu too?

OnlyWantsOne · 07/05/2010 13:30

i think they looked at my ovaries, im not sure, i was fixated on the baby - had a pivate scan last week and she said there was no cysts then, and no free fluid

OP posts:
crazykat · 07/05/2010 13:38

Id phone your GP or MW and ask their advice as to what you should do PJen.

likethemapples I'm going to have the combined test. I know I wouldn't have an amnio or CV even if the results come back as high risk though due to the risks associated with them (even though it's a relatively low risk)

chloesbaby · 07/05/2010 13:47

Hello all, just thought I'd update all the ladies pregnant for the first time like me. Went to the GP yesterday to find out the procedure - was fairly surprised how quick I was in and out. Doctor just said congratulations, asked for date of last period, and told me off for not taking folic acidand then i was out the door. rushed to pharmacy immediately after and got some.

Was told I will get a letter from the hospital with date of first scan (I am currently only 6+4 so won't be for a while) and a phone call from the MW. in the meantime, i just need to sit tight.

On a separate note, had friends over last night to watch election coverage. I had a sneaky glass of wine and am paying for it this morning with MS. At least it threw them off the scent!

LLKH · 07/05/2010 14:54

chloesbaby I think a sneaky glass of wine or two is fine. One of my FIL's friends told me yesterday that her mother drank a pint of stout every day of her pregnancy (on doctor's orders apparently) and FIL's friend is perfectly all right.

Does anyone besides me find pregnancy maths a bit weird? If I go by conception I am 6+3 but if I go by doctor's count I am 8+3. So I was wrong about having said I was five weeks in earlier.

Also, anybody besides me amazed at how big various bits are already?

OnlyWantsOne · 07/05/2010 14:57

various bits?

OP posts:
heading4home · 07/05/2010 15:19

PJen If I remember correctly, the H1N1 flu strain was a problem for pregnant women as they were more likely to get complications than the general population. "Normal" flu isn't such a danger.

Call your doctor though and check because I don't have any specialist knowledge. Did you get the swine flu vaccine?

Hope your dh feels better soon and you don't catch it

DuelingFanjo · 07/05/2010 16:26

likethemapples I am going to have the tests, I think. Though I am not sure when I am supposed to and I don't think I can get it on the NHS here so will have to go private.

I haven't even been to see my GP yet and couldn't get an appointment until next week when I will be 9 weeks so am a bit worried that it's going to take a while for the Midwife to get in touch.

When do I have to have the tests by?

WhatWillSantaBring · 07/05/2010 17:05

PJen I had a long chat with my dr earlier this week about flu and flu jabs. She explained that H1N1 was different as it did affect pg women a lot worse than others - hence offering the flu jab. But seasonal flu has no implications during pregnancy so they don't offer seasonal flu jabs. Obviously as I'm not a dr you should check with NHS direct or your GP, but to me that suggests that if your DH has normal flu, you shouldn't worry (except that flu is miserable anyway).

Maybe your DH just has man flu though, which as we ladies know, is not something we women can get

Heard nothing from either the MW or the scan people yet - I'm just on 7 wks now, so hope to hear from them soon.

Also knackered as I woke up at 4 am and just HAD to check the election results.

LLKH · 07/05/2010 17:40

Sorry about the bits thing. I meant things like breast growth, decreasing waistline, bigger belly etc.

notso · 07/05/2010 17:56

firstimer so sorry, take care.

notso · 07/05/2010 18:15

owo and Reshape hope you are both ok.

Doctor has threatened me with hospitalisation for MS today,I'm off work for two weeks, he said I must try and to nothing but drink, I was sick in his room .
Was supposed to be going to a gig tonight.

Rofl at big bits!

OnlyWantsOne · 07/05/2010 18:58

I have big bits

lol

Ive gained a stone and a half....

OP posts:
Wholelottalove · 07/05/2010 19:31

notso sorry you're feeling rough, hope you get better soon, sounds horrible.

OWO with the scan measurements, I think because it's still early on and we're talking millimetres it is not 100% accurate.

likethemapples I decided not to have the tests this time after chatting to DH. I believe the triple test has to be done at around 15-20 weeks. I was offered a nuchal fold scan at my 12 week dating scan - I said no for now, but can change my mind on the day. Not all areas do them on the nhs, and they didn't last time I was pg in my area.

Yeah my bits are a bit on the large side as well! My boobs are now in my D cup bras from first pg (up from a B) and if I don't suck in my big bloated tummy it looks def preg!

Still feeling a bit grim and guilty because I feel like I am neglecting DD, what with crashing as soon as DH gets in. I shouted at her when she was messing about with her bath and then cried because I went downstairs and could hear her saying to DH 'mummy cross', the poor thing.

LittleSnoo · 07/05/2010 21:28

Hi All,

Midwife appointment was very brief, just blood and urine tests and the usual folic acid reminder. The pregnancy support worker was a bit of a disappointment, she was just a sort of helper to the mw rather than anything extra for me.

Does anyone else have indigestion? In the last couple of days I've hardly slept as everytime I lie down I get a feeling like I've swallowed sulphuric acid. The other night I had to get out of bed because my whimpering was keeping DH awake!

Definitely started getting bigger this week, jeans a bit tight and DH said 'wow, you're boobs are back to massive' (I've lost 5 stone in the past year)!

Wholelottalove · 07/05/2010 22:03

Arrrgghhh! I have run out of werther's originals. DH dispatched to shop to buy more and came back with tangfastics as he couldn't find the werthers

Actually the tangfastics aren't that bad but got a feeling they might give me indigestion tonight too littlesnoo

cher31 · 08/05/2010 00:27

Hi everyone, so excited to say I had a scan today and saw a liitle bean with a strong heartbeat. So reassuring and emotional. Their dates, that they claim are exact, put me at 7 weeks today. That means my due date is Christmas Day. I don't agree with the dates as I have a reg 28 day cycle and know for a fact my LMP. Still none of that matters. I have got a little bean with a strong heartbeat yipeee!!

heading4home · 08/05/2010 07:27

Morning all! I am up ridiculously early for a Saturday - have already put on a wash and clean up the living room

notso sounds like you are suffering really badly. Poor thing, glad your doctor is looking after you - hope you manage to stay out of hospital and that it eases for you soon.

Wholelottalove I feel exactly the same that I am neglecting DD. By the time I get home from work I am dead on my feet and just have to crash. We don't seem to have done anything together for months. It's her birthday party tomorrow so thank God I am feeling a little bettter this weekend than I have been for a while. Grateful that she only wanted to invite a few friends - we will have 6 little girls and 1 boy (poor thing!!) marauding round our tiny flat tomorrow, aaaaaaaaaaaargh!!
