ElusiveMoose · 27/01/2010 21:54

crazycatlady I'm so sorry. Waiting for the confirmation must be dreadful . Thinking of you and your family tonight.

girlsyearapart · 28/01/2010 08:11

crazycatlady so sorry to hear your latest. Fingers crossed for you that it's good news.

KayloHalo · 28/01/2010 08:13

How mixed this post will be

congratulations on your scan MrsZaC Did try to log on yesterday but dodgy laptop not playing so gave up in the end.

CrazyCatLady I'm so, so sorry for you.

Bigmuther Paracetamol should be ok, if it gets worse tho your GP should be ab;e to advise/prescribe something stronger.

We had friends round last night and they brought their 20 week old baby boy - he's gorgeous and so so good! He only cried once and that was when he woke up. Nervous tho - he was so small!!! My 'small' baby is nearly 4yo!!

bouncingblueberries · 28/01/2010 08:40

bigmuther if you're not keen on taking paracetamol what about one of those Deep Heat heat pads? Think Boots do something similar. I think they should be ok to use in pregnancy as you're not absorbing anything into your bloodstream iykwim.

In a bit of a grump today. Don't know why. Think it's because I know I've lots of work to do today so will miss refreshing this thread every 2 minutes to keep up with everyone

14 weeks today, so might treat myself to a yummy lunch. Fed up of being frugal with homemade sandwiches already!

littlemiss72 · 28/01/2010 08:50

Good morning all,

Sorry to hear such sad news crazycatlady thinking of you. x

Lovely little pic MrsZac you must be over the moon to know all is well.

Hope the rest of you are keeping well

I had my booking in appointment yesterday morning with the MW, wow.. sooo many questions and forms to complete! I also got a ton of goodies (most of which is leaflets) but lots to read this weekend.

I had a very late night last night so feel shattered this morning, no drink involved however! I chair the committee for our company PA network and last nights meeting was in the wonderful Bloombury Hotel in town. DP was ready to send out a search party at 10pm lol. I felt sad as I know at some point I'm going to have to step down, none of the girls know yet of course but planning the years events got me thinking - I won't even be here

Counting the days to my scan, I just want to know all is ok and officially tell all. House hunting this weekend as DP is now in overdrive for a family home and bigger car after the booking in appointment yesterday - is this a normal reaction? bless him.

Trying to find the energy to get dressed and into work.. l'm finding it hard to keep my eyes open past 4pm most days.

Nearly the weekend, sleep, sleep and more sleep!

Take care all x

KayloHalo · 28/01/2010 09:01

Hi Blueberries How are you grumpy-pants? If it helps I'm a grump too cos our house is being valued today and despite the outcome dh says we can't move house

Could you maybe secretly refresh the thread every 5 minutes

Bigmuther I'd forgotton about the deep heat stuff Is a wheat bag an option? Or hot water bottle?

Sorry to hear your news crazycatlady, take care of yourself!

Argh! Last night DH went all insomniac on me and we ended up being awake from half 1 til close to 5. What a numpty! Wasn't all his fault - DD woke up at half 1 so we settled her, DH started reading his magazine in bed so I tried to sleep, then I got the munchies so we went down and toasted bagels. Went back to bed, I felt sick and threw the bagel back up, DH checked his phone and realised he'd missed a phone call saying he had a Sgt Major's parade at 7 so he'd have to leave at half 6 instead of 7:45 and he had to get his smarter uniform ready...at 4am! Hopefully tonight will be catch-up night, dreaded in-laws are coming on Saturday

Hope everyone has a lovely Thursday!

cakeywakey · 28/01/2010 09:33

Morning ladies, finally had a scan date through - for 23 February. It's flipping ages away!

I'm going to see the hospital midwife tomorrow so am going to pop to the ultrasound department and ask if they can possibly give me an earlier appointment.

If I can't get an earlier scan, I'm seriously considering booking a private one through the hospital's private arm. We went private for an early scan when I was pregnant with DD because of a previous missed miscarriage which was really reassuring. Thought I was a bit more chilled this time. It would seem not!

KayloHalo · 28/01/2010 09:41

How far along will you be when you have your Cakey?

OP posts:
cakeywakey · 28/01/2010 09:46

I've just been date crunching Kaylo and think I'll be bang on 14 weeks - which is within the 10-14 week date range for a first scan, but just seems sooooooo long to wait.

bouncingblueberries · 28/01/2010 10:01

Oh cakey push for an earlier appointment - I was 4 days further ahead than my dates suggested and that's happened to a few other people as well. I think it's better to get in nearer your 13 weeks.

kaylo cheered up a bit since a lovely person at work just handed me a giant Toblerone

KayloHalo · 28/01/2010 10:12

Oh god, just re-read my post and missed out a pretty important word

Obviously you know I meant 'have your scan'

LOL - funny to read back.

Are you having the nuchal? I was told this has to be done between 10 wks and 13wks 6days. Anything over that and they can't do it. I would definitely try and get an earlier one!

Bluberries Are you sharing?

OP posts:
bouncingblueberries · 28/01/2010 10:27

no way kaylo - it's mine, all mine [evil cackle]

God, I'd forgotten how darn good Toblerone is...drool

I'm be busy for some time (stuffing my face obviously!)

KayloHalo · 28/01/2010 10:36

meanie

guess I'll just go tuck into the chocolate brownies on friends desk then

mwah ha ha.......

OP posts:
NichyNoo · 28/01/2010 10:40

Hi everyone - crazycatlady so sorry to hear your news..it's so sad

Congrats to all those who have had positive scans.

I'm now 12+5. Can I ask if anyone out there has a bump yet? This is my first DC, I'm very slim and have quite strong stomach muscles. Don't have a bump at all yet (well maybe a slight, hard section right above my pubes). Is this normal? I still have sore boobs but still no 'real' symptoms....

I'm starting to dream about babies and get really strong feelings towards the little bean in my belly...just hoping it is still hanging in there as I'm already getting quite attached to it

KayloHalo · 28/01/2010 10:49

Hi Nichy

I have a bump but I'm on #3. When I was carrying dd (#1) I didn't get a bump until 20wks. Was forever trying to stick my belly out so I looked like I was allowed to shop in Mothercare

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 28/01/2010 11:06

I didn't start showing til about 20wks with DD either. This time it feels like although it is not bump, the baby is pushing everything else up so i am pot bellied iyswim?

Aussieng · 28/01/2010 11:07

Hi all - the er mood on here is a bit grumpy this morning!!! [grin}. MS is back for me so I'm not about to improve it (but I had 3 good days before todays early starts brought it all back so hopefully things are on the up).

CrazyCatLady I'm so sorry that you've had to go through this - I can't imagine how difficult this must be. Hope your DD gives you lots of comfort.

Great news for you MrsZac and cute pics. Must see what I can do about posting mine. I've been wondering whether to post mine on Facebook. I know it's a bit naff but it seems as good a way as any to let some of my less close friends know the "news".

Kaylo sorry I did not see your query yesterday - the most active threads topics are in the top right hand corner of my screen in the MN talk box.

Nichy my new thing to get paranoid about is my bump or lack of or general wierdness of the shape of me depending on how you look at it. I spent yesterday poring over "bump" pictures on the net and I don't look like any of those. I don't have a nice one stage bump I have a sort of hard little undercarriage (which I still think might just be constipation!) then I go in at my belly button, then I have a spare tyre just above that and absolutely no waist. So a sort of two stage bump which just looks like spare tyres. I'm not skinny but I'm generally a size 10-12 and I just look fat and bloated at the minute and given that I'm now 15+1 I'm convinced I should have a proper bump by now. I want my bump!!

neenz · 28/01/2010 11:35

Crazycat - so sorry to hear your news. If it's 1:2 risk of abnormality doesn't that mean 1:2 chance that everything is fine, or are they pretty sure? Really really hope you get the miraculous CVS result you want.

Nicky, definitely fine not to have bump at this stage - I do but this my second pregnancy! My bump is pretty big already. I was desperate to get a bump last time and was so glad it was twins so I would show earlier. Wasn't so glad at the end though when my bump was so huge people would stop and stare and point at me in the street

Great news on scan MrsZac and anyone else who's had a good scan!

I got my doppler last week and was quite upset that I couldn't find a hb, but I had another go this morning (11+4) and found it straight away . It was so fast I couldn't keep count, I counted about 40 beats in 15 secs so 160bpm and entirely normal! I was so happy

KayloHalo · 28/01/2010 11:37

Aussie As soon as I posted I went an nosied over there and found it

Clearly I don't anything better to do

OP posts:
starshaker · 28/01/2010 11:46

i have a serious bump at the moment lol. I look like i did when i was 6 months with dd but there are 2 in there so its to be expected.
MS not too bad this morning which is a nice change. Really struggled yesterday.
Have decided to hire a cleaner as my houswork is getting ontop of me and on the days i dont feel like death i struggle to catch up with it all.

bouncingblueberries · 28/01/2010 12:08

Bump report: in the morning I have a stomach like aussie described but by the time I've had my lunch, my stomach area is more like alice describes

I know most of my bump is actually my internal organs being pushed up and out of the way by the baby, but i don't care. Your fundus hits your belly-button at 17 weeks, so it should all level out soon

Meant to say earlier, felt the first kicks on Tuesday night on my way home from work. Was very exciting. Nothing more since though. Although I did have quite uncomfortable braxton hicks on Tuesday night.

Dibbydab · 28/01/2010 12:10

So sorry to hear about your news crazycatlady hope you get the results through quickly, the waiting must be heartbreaking. Big hugs.
