God, are we really on our 3rd thread???? Already???

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jennycomelately · 27/01/2010 16:00

Hi, I'm 10 weeks so think it's about time I joined in instead of lurking. This will be baby number 6 for me and I spend most of the time wondering 'what have I done??' Haven't worked up much enthusiasm for this pregnancy yet. Hopefully things will be better in a couple of weeks if I'm feeling less sick and have a scan. My last baby is nearly 2, and my other children range from 6 to 15. I haven't broken the news to them yet!

Looking forward to chatting with you all

bouncingblueberries · 27/01/2010 16:01

You could always do what friends of ours did and just store the buggy in the boot of the car if space is an issue - only works if you can always park outside your house/flat though!

bouncingblueberries · 27/01/2010 16:02

Welcome jenny. Pull up a chair, have some cake and join us. We don't bite, unless you offer chocolate cake, then we might bit your hand off

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 16:05

Ah, I kinda forgot about the folding small thing

jennycomelately · 27/01/2010 16:09

Ah cake - that never lasts long in my house! Thanks for the welcome.

Re prams, I just used a sling at first for my last baby, then decided to splash out on an Bugaboo gecko which I loved and am looking forward to reusing this time. Get a proper sling though, not one of those uncomfortable front carriers.

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 16:21

Welcome Jenny Blueberries thats what we do as well, keep the pram in the car and carry baby to the house from there. Like you said tho, it only works if you can park close to your place of residence.

bouncingblueberries · 27/01/2010 16:22

Totally agree jenny - had a proper ring sling with ds but planning on a stretchy wrap this time. Can't wait to go sling shopping! Will need more than one obviously!

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 16:27

jenny what slings would you recommend? Have been thinking for a while. Must be easier getting around, especially with 2 kids already.

OP posts:
jennycomelately · 27/01/2010 16:36

Hmmm - my very favourite slings for a newborn are the pouches that you just pop on quickly and don't have to mess around with, but it's hard to get one exactly the right size. I had a hugabub which was comfortable but a right pain to get on, and last time bought a Close carrier but there's just too much fabric flapping around.

I actually miss the Wilkinet I had 15 years ago for DS1! Not sure whether I'll do much slinging this time.

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 16:44

Hmmm, will need to start having a look around I think. I'm sure a sling would be much easier when doing school run with a 4 and 5 yr old (which is what they will be when baby comes - cripes, when did they get bigger!!)

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 17:01

Good Luck MrsZaC!!!

Will check in later for results (well, I'll try, dodgy laptop depending)

Missus84 · 27/01/2010 17:12

Kaylo, I think I like the look of the switch better than the scoot anyway! Guess it'll just be a case of trying a few out though.

neenz - I agree, I think at the moment the plan is to use the sling for as long as possible and then get the nicest umbrella type we can find.

babyducky · 27/01/2010 17:34

Hope your scan went well mrszac

Welcome Jenny

Not sure if we are going to buy a new pram yet, we had a bugaboo gecko for ds when he was a baby but sold it when he was about 18months & got a bugaboo bee, so might just use that or maybe get a new one!
Have no idea what though there are too many to choose from!

Feel so tired today, cant wait to get into bed zzzzz

starshaker · 27/01/2010 17:51

i wanted a sling instead of a pram at the start but dont really think its doable, then i thought about a single pram and a sling. No i think ill have a sling for round the house and stuff lol

mrsZaC · 27/01/2010 18:33

before I catch up on what I've missed I thought I would let you all know that I have a perfect little 9 week old in my belly with a strong heartbeat- yiippeee! what relief. I've uploaded the photo to my profile, but not sure if it's worked. jelly bean even managed a wave to use changes my due date currently to the 1st of September, but I think I'm more likely to be actually 9wks 2days so I think I'll stay here if that's ok

babyducky · 27/01/2010 18:39

yeah great news

Lovely pic aswell x

girlsyearapart · 27/01/2010 18:44

lovely news mrszac
Of course stay here! lots of us could end up being July or September in the end but you started here so stay.

Dd2 was 11 days early so if #3 follows that then I'll end up Julying it.

We had a silver cross for dd1 which we also used a bit for dd2 my Dad broke it though so no pram anymore. I did like it as a pram only thing I didn't like was the rubbish small shopping basket. Also the car seat it came with was a total effort. Would recommend as my top tip to get a car seat that clicks onto a base that you leave in the car.

Since then have had a mothercare hoxton which is a one in front of the other and was a mission to push gave up on it very early on.

Bought a 2nd hand phil and teds which is great has its downsides but really easy to push. Also have an obaby stroller..

Right well I'm off to get these girls to bed then having a friend over for a take away.

Crazycatlady · 27/01/2010 18:58

I'm so sorry to be the bearer of bad news just when this thread is starting to become a happier place, but we had our scan today and it wasn't good news.

The risk of abnormality was 1:2 from the nuchal scan and blood test. I was given an immediate CVS and get results in the next few days but have been told to expect the worst and will probably be advised to end this pregnancy.

DH and I are crushed by this news, unable to really take it all in, but trying to cope somehow and figure out how to handle the next step, all while feeling ever more thankful for our beautiful 13 month old daughter.

Hoping for the best for all of you, happy healthy pregnancies and beautiful babies. Please could someone take me off the list xx
