yippee vita great news!

vix206 · 11/02/2010 11:31

Yay congrats vita! I was wondering actually, I have read that you should take some cash with you to the scan because they often charge for photos. How much do they charge?

I have terrible flashing lights in my eyes this morning, came on about 10 mins ago. I suffer from migraines occasionally so hoping that's all it is (not often I hope for a migraine!). They are really bad, dazzling so it is hard to type and I'm in the office alone today as DH is at home doing DIY.

Might have to step away from the Mac for a bit and have a break!

vitapulchra · 11/02/2010 11:36

We don't get charged here (in Guernsey) for pics. Anyone else?

Hope you feel better soon, vix206. Sounds rather dreadful.

vix206 · 11/02/2010 11:45

Yea its horrible actually, getting worse at the moment very weird effects at the sides of my vision!

Just added kcoffin - apols if there is anyone else newly joined that has been overlooked.

Congrats Vitapulchra loving this thread at the moment with all the good news.

3 pics provided here in Notts at the first scan - no charge. I would not have been impressed if there had been! We are considering going for a 4D scan at around the 28 week mark (I know, I know, it's a long way off but they look so good and it seems a long time to go from 20 weks to birth without seeing the lo again). Have any of you had it done before? Costs seem to range from £70-£95 depending on whether you have a DVD or not....

I keep forgetting to book my NHS maternity classes... they're probably going to be all booked up!

augustsun · 11/02/2010 11:51

At Kings they charge 1.50£ each photo (but they gave us two even though we had change just for one)

mrsZaC · 11/02/2010 11:53

aussie by friend had a 4D scan and they were pretty dissapointed, I think it really is dependant on wether the baby lies still(ish) during the scan, the photos were very blurred and there wasn't really many 'clear' images of the baby. I didn't see their DVD though.

Doodleydoo · 11/02/2010 12:03

We got 5 and didn't pay but it was a ridiculous time in the morning so perhaps they just forgot!

I know I need to book in to see the MW again but can't remember her number - I am officially useless!

Chulita · 11/02/2010 12:08

In Gloucester they charge £5 flat rate for about 4 or 5 photos, in Dorset they charge £3 each bloody rip off if you ask me!

Aussieng · 11/02/2010 12:23

Hmm - thanks Mrs Zac will ponder it - it's not like there is any hurry just yet! I'm not really a home movie type person so would be more interested in the photos than the DVD. It's just nice to be able to send a few more things overseas to the IL's to keep them from feeling left out.

Also - sorry for the late reply but thanks Neenz for setting my mind at rest on the delivery rooms!

I agree Chulita. I also wonder how it fits with the NHS fundamental principle of not being permitted to "top-up" NHS care with privately funded options. I know it is only a small amount but the principle is the same surely?

Morning sickness back today - had one whole lovely week free of ms. Am in shock.

cazzybabs · 11/02/2010 12:57

augustsun - it is because if you were not highrisk last time you are unlikley to be high risk 2nd time.

Mrs Zac - yes wanted Sept baby ...never mind!!!

I think we get charged £2 per photo

babyducky · 11/02/2010 13:06

hi all

so pleased my scan went well, i was so scared before, will update the list in a min as they have changed my due date to the 14th.

There is no set charge for scan photos here, but they do ask for a donation.

Good luck to anyone who has a scan coming up, nice to see how positive this thread is lately!

have a good afternoon everyone xx

Afternoon girls,

We get charged £4 per photo in Plymouth!

Hello new girls

Congrats on the good scans, nice to see the list filling up nicely.

Hope Bigmuther is just busy as haven't seen her on the thread for a few days.

Had my 15 week antenatal check up this morning, all fine, heard heartbeat again, which was relief - am going to have a go with doppler now I know what I'm supposed to be listening out for...

Met a nice girl in there ? she was 1 day over due and having a sweep (not of the Chim Chimeney variety?), she said, ?please don?t tell me you?re here for a midwife appt, you look far too glamorous?! Told her I was only a little bit pregnant to make her feel better ? poor girl was obviously dressed in her husband?s hoody and tracky bottoms that were the only things that still fitted her, I on the other hand had the air of a mafia widow about me in my black ensemble, oversized sunglasses, black leather gloves and fab handbag from New York. Let's see what I'm wearing at the end of July

Missus84 · 11/02/2010 13:19

I got one photo at my scan, no charge though.

Aussieng - there was a little bit in the Metro the other day about a possible link between 3D scans and causing nerve system damage to the foetus. Might be worth looking into if you're considering it.

bouncingblueberries · 11/02/2010 13:21

Oh dibbydab that does sound like a fab outfit! Feeling a bit drab myself today.

I've just bought this dress from Mamas&Papas. Have a christening to go to on Sunday and wanted something I could wear to work at well. What do you all think? Planning to wear some funky purple tights, my boots and some chunky bracelets. Will I get enough wear out of it before Summer sets in though? [hopeful emoticon]

ElusiveMoose · 11/02/2010 14:00

Blueberries, I love that dress. And I'm sure you'll get wear out of it. The good thing about maternity stuff is that you almost always get wear out of it, because you have so few clothes that you wear the ones you've got ALL the time. Could you wear it over a slim fit black polo neck with black boots, to keep you warm in this freezing weather?

I took DS swimming this morning and realised I've probably only got a few more weeks' wear in my regular swimsuit. Not looking forward to shopping for a maternity one.

I'm in a good mood today, though. DH is on holiday next week (he's a teacher), and we've got a weekend away in Oxford without DS. No great plans, but we're staying in our old college, which should be fun, and planning on just pottering around the shops, maybe going to a gallery or something, having a nice meal and maybe going to the cinema. Should be lovely.

And got my next MW appointment next Thursday (sorry, that makes me feel really bad for those of you who haven't had your first one yet!!). Already the nerves/excitement are starting to creep in. Latest obsession is about feeling the baby move (I'm 15 weeks on Saturday). I keep getting sort of swooping feelings in my tummy, but they're quite high up - above my tummy button - so not sure that they can be baby movements?

mrsZaC · 11/02/2010 14:11

ooh berries was looking at that dress the other day, it's lovely and very versitile. Got some bargain jeans of M&P website the other day for £10, and i had a £5 giftcard so got them for a £5 - wow! only snag is they are a size 10 and I'm not quite sure if I'm that size no more

owh dibby you sound so glam!

I'm struggling to fit in my clothes at the moment my belly seems to be huge! but I think most of it is bloating.

KayloHalo · 11/02/2010 14:11

Hi ladies, how are we all?

Sorry not been on for a few days I've been off work. SPD has definitely got a hold on my pelvis now and I'm in agony with it - driving/walking/sleeping is difficult already. And morning sickness appears to have returned but in the evenings. I'm finding that I can't keep anything down after say 4pm.

So much for having an easy final pregnancy.
Speaking of - my mum sat me down yesterday and had a baby talk with me. Being: 'KayloHalo, I know you say this is your last baby but why? You're only 25 and you may want more in the future. So don't get your tubes tied just in case you change your mind'
So totally random. And I would never get y tubes tied, simply because thats optional surgery and in my opinion if theres a way to avoid an operation then thats the way I would go.

I'm sorry it isn't a longer post but I'm off back to bed for a nap before the kids need picking up from school - SPD ensures that I don't get my quota of sleep these days so a exhausted.

Welcoe to the newbies And congrats to all that have had good news
Good luck to all still awaiting scans/appointments

Love to all

xxxx

owh blueberries your oxford holiday sounds awesome! hope you have a lovely time.

your totally right about over your next apointment, you'll have had your 2nd before my first! how crazy, but not long for me now...

mrsZaC · 11/02/2010 14:26

what a shame kaylo take care of yourself huney, SPD sounds rubbish!

LOL about your mum!

my collegue just found this...www.heatworld.com/Fun-Stuff/2010/02/We-NEED-a-Hoodie-Footie-Snuggle-Suit-/ soo funny, can you imagine! don't know about your guys but I would look like a giant marshmallow! wonder if they do a maternity version?

Dibbydab · 11/02/2010 14:46

Blueberries that dress is lovely - you could really dress it up or down with chunky jewellery and a long line cardy (to keep you warm), so I'm sure it would be fine for work, may as well show of your pins while you still have them . Plus you can wear it for your night out with hubby and the Christening, so it's practically paid for itself already!

Big hugs Kaylo, you sound a bit down at the moment luvvy, SPD coupled with ms sounds awful, get some rest while you can. Your mum sounds just like my mum, but they mean well bless 'em. Like Peter Kay says "If it's not one thing, it's your mother"
