OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sayanything · 28/01/2010 15:21

Thank you everyone. Frankly, as the EDD is so often completely wrong especially with first pregnancies, I won't insist - I was just surprised (and very eager to be officially at 12 weeks!).

neenz · 28/01/2010 15:37

Kaylo, people can be so rude when you have more than two kids! I don't really get why but I am one of four so big families are normal to me. I actually haven't had any bad comments, just a couple of 'was it planned?'

Chulita · 28/01/2010 17:24

Evening everyone! Have been sleeping and sitting in a daze most of the day but have just caught up. I'm definitely finding out the sex, it was a surprise with DD but tbh I couldn't have cared less what 'it' was as long as 'it' wasn't inside me anymore. I think I'll enjoy it more if I know what it is earlier!

You know I said DH was up at 3am sorting out his kit for the parade? Well he got there on time but 3 people didn't bother to show up, so they all got a bollocking and now he's got to parade everyday at 7am and 5pm - blanket punishment is the norm. That means he won't see DD at all during the week because the same thing happened before Christmas and he only saw her at weekends with her sleeping patterns. I hate the f*&$ing army, I really do we need a steaming emoticon!

Any suggestions for tea? I've got no clue what I fancy...

girlsyearapart · 28/01/2010 18:03

nichy I had my wisdom teeth out at St elisabeth and went to school down the road from there.

chulita argh for you sounds horrid. The dds and dh had spag bol for tea btw but I ate broccoli & stilton soup with two pieces of bread, a cookie, two hot cross buns and a mug of milk for lunch so I'm strangely enough not hungry!

Chulita · 28/01/2010 18:15

spag bol sounds good actually...

starshaker · 28/01/2010 18:16

We had mince and potatoes and it was delish mmmm

NichyNoo · 28/01/2010 20:10

We had a very random tea - jacket potato with cheese and beans plus a side serving a mushrooms fried in red wine and garlic....

DH does the cooking so I blame him!

Glad to hear the recommendations for St Elisabeth - I liked it when I was there for the scan!

aendr · 28/01/2010 20:33

Just catching up (still here, not a lot of time to post - napping or playing with my not quite a toddler takes priority!). I'll rejoin the list in my next post. No bump as yet, but I didn't look pregnant (just fat) till about 30 weeks last time, so I'm not expecting much. Have gone into more comfortable jeans though.

I finally got my booking appointment - as mentioned last time. In my area, they're at home, so I waited in and they arrived early. I got two visiting as it was "quiet" and the second one didn't want to sit about being bored, but might as well meet all the mums she hasn't met yet. Lovely ladies, had a jolly good chat. So, due to prolapse (not fun - do your pelvic floor exercises, ladies, and perineal massage later on!) and prolonged rupture of membranes and Group B Strep (which is very dangerous for the baby) last time, I'm under consultant care this time. "It's unlikely you'll be allowed to give birth in the shiny brand-new midwife birthing unit" - but given the old midwife led delivery ward one was just fine for me last time, I'm not too upset. (I quite like hospitals, strange aren't I well, my mother's a nurse...) Told the midwives about my tricky veins and needle-nearly-phobia and they immediately decided to give me the blood forms and send me to the phlebotomists up at the hospital for them to deal with me. Off I trotted. It took them half an hour, 2 of them, and several attempts to get the vein and I had quite a bruise in the arm they gave up on!

Today, I got a letter through for my scan (on my husband's birthday, so it had better be good news!) and another letter telling me I needed another blood test more needles! For CRP, so I googled and got myself quite emotional (those darned hormones again). I'm really hoping it's an infection and not Gestational Diabetes as that's even more needles! It's bad enough that I'm Rh- and my DH is Rh+ and from an ethnic background that means he's very likely to have both +ve genes, so all our DCs are likely to be Rh+ and I will have to have anti-D injections. Did I mention I HATE needles?

soontobefatnat · 29/01/2010 09:06

Scan in a couple of hours (excited AND nervous)!!

mrsZaC · 29/01/2010 09:14

yey soontobefat good luck with your scan, I'm sure everything will be grand

hows everyone this morning? I didn't sleep well last night, which is usually the case when I have a before-dinner nap, you can't win can you? off to see the MotherIL tonight, think there will be a lot of 'how you feeling' which I'm not sure I have much patience for I think eveyrone in her town knows so I'm expecting a lot of chats with old ladies and nosy friends of MIL.

gave DH a huge lecture last night to get a few things off my chest a feel better for it, think he understood a bit better after my lecture but I'm not holding out much hope. He works away for 2 weeks out of 5 and expects a fanfare everytime he comes home, I was trying to explain that after being abandoned for 2 weeks when i was super nervous about jelly bean etc etc. I thought he might like to make a fuss of me when he got home, but no such luck, that's his day apparently not sure if I'll win this one.

Rubena · 29/01/2010 09:19

aendr I totally feel your pain - I amwas the same as you with needles - Passed out every time for the past 35 years. I think having dc1 and a section and every needle going well has been positive reinforcment for me and I am almost prepared to say I'm cured Provided I lay down first and a butterfly needle is used for bloods, I seem to be fine now. No sweating, no loss of hearing, and no vomiting or passing out - I hope I'm not jumping the gun here by saying i'm over it! dh is a doc and has also left syringes around at times to kind of flood me with it as a form of therapy! I really feel it has worked. have you ever had bloods done with a butterfly? They have trouble with my veins too but these ones always work and are tiny
13 weeks tomorrow and I have a terrible terrible cold. feel awful. Is it only Paracetemol we can take? Is there anything at all for congestion whilst pregnant? it's killing me!!

bouncingblueberries · 29/01/2010 10:10

mrsZaC I know what you mean re MIL. I've no patience at all for mine now I'm pregnant. She did everything she could to dissuade us from having another dc (dh has no siblings and I think she hoped we'd follow her family model ) but now I'm pregnant she's forever asking stupid questions. Despite an early scan at 9 weeks she asked 3 times after our 13 week scan if we were sure it wasn't twins. FFS! We would have told her after the 9 week scan if it was twins! Grr. Annoying woman.

bouncingblueberries · 29/01/2010 10:12

Rubena sadly no - we can't take decongestants. I had a stinking cold earlier this week and asked the pharmacist. But I did find Olbas Tissue helpful and 4Head.

KayloHalo · 29/01/2010 10:14

Good Luck Soontobefat fingers crossed for you.

Needles - I'm not a good bleeder either and used to dread blood tests etc. Then I got pregnant and needles are so unavoidable that I got used to them.

I got my 20wk scan date through the post yesterday, and my 12wk scan results!!
Scan date is 11th March when I'll be exactly 20wks.
Scan results say I was 13w1d (even though screen said 13w5d!) But hey, my new due date is 29th July, but I'm sticking around here if thats ok with you lot? Have updated the list.

bouncingblueberries · 29/01/2010 10:44

Good luck soontobefat

mrsZaC · 29/01/2010 10:52

kaylo nice one with the scan results and please stay here, I'm an august outkast too but I'm staying as I suspect they may change my Due date @ my 13 wk scan.

blueberries I LOL at your MIL, mine isn't all that bad really, she's just excited I guess, but she keeps asking me how the morning sickness is, and I keep telling her I don't have much of it, she keeps making me paranoid! spose there ain't much else to talk about at the moment, least we have some scan pics to show her.

Chulita · 29/01/2010 12:56

Hello everyone!

I'm pleased to say that there's nothing to moan about today Slept really well and then had a fab time making pasta-in-bottle shakers at the Sure start this morning, followed by a ham and cheese bagel. [sigh] and it's the weekend this evening! Hooray!
Still ravenous though, off to plunder the kitchen...ooh, have some homemade flapjack, might drizzle some choccy sauce on a piece of that.

mrsZaC · 29/01/2010 13:04

mmm ham and cheese bagel!

KayloHalo · 29/01/2010 13:04

Just got my scan date 18th February. Seems a long way off but could have been worse. That puts me at (I think) almost 14 weeks. Can't wait!

Chulita · 29/01/2010 13:14

DD didn't wake up last night and the night before DH got up after I played the poor pg lady card and told him I couldn't do it without him
kaylo there's more cake on this thread

girlsyearapart · 29/01/2010 13:25

Happiness here too.
The dds both slept through the night 2 nights in a row now. You forget how good it is to get a good night's sleep.Even though dd2 woke at 515 am and dd1 at 6 I am still not too knackered.

Have my 4yo niece for a sleepover tonight I have had her since midday. She can be a bit of a handful so I'm hoping tonight she will behave!

JUst had a jacket potato with cheese very nice it was too. Wish I had some cake/biscuits/chocolate.. Anything really.
