Welcome to the March Preggos. Here's hoping we see nearly 1000 posts before anyone pops!

ooo good luck to P&P..

woke in the middle of the night too, BPM, convinced my waters had broken as was Very damp, but no, the heating hadnt switched itself off so I was just stewing in own juices.. urgh! Interesting that my response to possible imminent birth was 'Ill just try and get 2 more hours sleep' rather than 'Arrrgggghhhh'
Now DH is home, we started on the nursery yesterday - lots and lots of computer crap now litters my bedroom, and my beautiful spare room is piled high, the 'baby whisperer' rubbing shoulders with 'C sharp for dummies..'
hopefully we'll have painted by tonight and I can start shifting things around.. slowly..
Pacific will delete your post from my mind - my water retention will go instantly when smallsiamese arrives - have actually had to put splints on again today (normally just werar them at night) as my left hand is worse than it' ever been - I cant even hold anything!! Have a good weekend away

Caitni I like your meeting DH story.. very romantic.. how long between meeting and getting together?

waves to everyone else in the style of the queen as hands ridgly fixed

siamesecatwoman · 12/02/2010 11:01

meant to ask Rebecca - any news on DH job?

rebeccacad · 12/02/2010 11:45

DH just found out yesterday he hasn't got the job. He's disappointed and I am for him, but we were both a bit relieved. Now we can concentrate on the important stuff (!). Thanks for all talking me down when I was losing the plot a little over it all.

siamese I have daily thoughts that my waters have broken, every twinge is labour etc - clearly going to drive myself totally insane.

annamama · 12/02/2010 12:07

Yeah Caitni - we wanna hear more! So you obviously kept in touch all those years?

I first saw my DH in a rock magazine when I was about 17 and thought he was gorgeous (he was in a band), met him for real when I was 18. Then we got it together more than 15 years later... So I win?

Oh and Meita if you're still reading, I think I do remember you and your beatiful story, something about sitting by a lake...? I cried at that!

BPM - that's quite sad about you being sent away that young... Can't blame you for arguing with your mum when drunk about it! Not when PG I hope.

Pixie - that's ridiculous about them not telling you over the phone, what's wrong with some people! Grrr.

Smac - that sounds like quite an ordeal...

Nothing to add here as usual, just waiting to go into labour really in a few weeks or so!

Thinking of P&P and wondering how she's getting on.

Shroomer · 12/02/2010 12:52

annamamma I guess you won't say on this forum if your DH is anyone we know, but perhaps you could say what type of rock band he is/was in? (prog, heavy, etc). (From a reader of Classic Rock mag whose first album was Appetite for Destruction). Sorry for off-topic post peeps.

MummyElk · 12/02/2010 13:14

hi all
Can't not mention meita i too remember her post and am glad for her news, august babies are indeed wonderful.
I wonder what PandP is up to at the mo....

would like to join the Think I'm Going Into Labour Train please... spent all night in MUCH discomfort, very very hot, pains all over tummy yada yada yada and even poor DH said, er....should i be thinking there's a baby coming? self diagnosis this morning (forgive the TMI) is a mixture of baby edging its way down a bit more, general constipation, poorly hips and general arsiness. to add further to the selfish post pacific can I ask you at some point about hernias? i think i might have found one behind my belly button....at least I don't think it's baby...(could be an elky antler i suppose )
siamese your post reminded me of my first pg, in the last 4 weeks we had three rooms completely ripped out and replastered (oooohhhhhh the mess) and i was holed up in the spare room (which was supposed to be the nursery). I remember one day I literally couldn't get out of the room and had to eat my way through all the quality street that no-one eats at xmas (still, someone had to do it) still you can get it sorted soon (as you say, slowly, but definitley surely ) and hope the wrists behave themselves.
rebeccacad funny how things turn out hey? you never know what's around the corner, something better could be just brewing....DH's semi dream job has just advertised just as he's started another job, there is no way he cld now go for it but it's just funny, you wait for buses etc etc....
more to say on other people but have got to get DD down for a nap and her nappy, er, smells interesting..
have a good afternoon all, particularly pandp!!!

MrsJamin · 12/02/2010 13:24

Woohoo! This is a good baby and is head down- partially engaged! (DS1 was breech)

annamama · 12/02/2010 14:02

Shroomer - cool that you're a rock chick! DH was not in a famous band, they were the same sort of style as GNR and used to be in Kerrang magazine. They were called Kill City Dragons.

Henrietta · 12/02/2010 14:20

pixie thanks for adding me & sorry about your results mixup
Shroomer first time round we told parents when i went into labour and they were worried sick as I didn't have DD till 2 days later and there was NO WAY I was letting DH go anywhere even to keep my parents informed, they came to see me in the afternoon. Surely even if PILs turn up they wont be allowed in? in our hosp only visitors was DH & kids, anybody else had to come at visiting time. My PILs came when I was back home after couple days.
PLEASE can everyone stop talking about shows/heads down Im regretting being one of the last on this thread.... it feels like miles off yet,so feeling uncomfortable & veryof all who are... But have decided after watching the one born minute that Im not going to do the birth thing, just have the baby-can you do that???
Thanks for the birthing pool links but as Ive got to go to hosp anyway I was just thinking more on the lines of a £1.50 backup plan if BP/Bath wasnt free, as prob wont be 'allowed' to birth in pool.

Somebody got an email with all the details of the shoot for next week... that someone is me!

Cheekily, they ask :

It would be great if you could please wear or bring the following items to the photoshoot:
? A white or skin coloured bra
? A plain white or pastel coloured t-shirt (long or short sleeve)
? A smart pair of jeans (blue or black)

In addition please ensure that your make-up is natural and that you arrive with freshly washed hair.

Gah, so I don't get my make up done?! I can't see how that will work with the lighting and so on (having been an extra before and taken part in a couple of TV things - see the picture of the kids in Egypt on my profile? I won that (5*!) trip on Codex (channel 4 gameshow hosted by (TINY) Tony Robinson filmed in the British Museum overnight))

Now I'm thinking I'm gonna HAVE to buy a pair of maternity jeans because up until now I'm wearing my usual size 8's but with a hairband connecting the button/buttonhole. Dunno that they'll cut it when it comes to 'smart' gaping as they do below the headband...

Push, P&P! Puuuuush!

Emlou I'm another thinking of you.

Holy moly, sure do wish this baby would stop headbutting my cervix. I mean, is there really any need?!

Arcadie · 12/02/2010 15:34

Manda You are BANNED from this thread from now on. Shhhh. Not a word from you EVER again. Russin Fussin Size 8s... Grrrrr.. Snarf snarf

IWCAS Of course! Main reason for doing a homebirth!

Hello!

I just watched that One Born Every Minute show on 4OD and cried! I'm usually not a big crier at TV shows, but this one got me hormonal/emotional

I'm glad Shroomer brought up the topic of parents/PIL visiting. I could write a BOOK on this topic, but don't think my blood pressure could cope with it at the minute, so I'll keep it inside.

I had other comments to make, but I've forgotten them....

Oh yes, Afribaby I like your name choice. I know a man called Arthur and he is lovely.

I've been having 'weird' things happen to me and I often doubt or think that labour is starting. Recently I've been very wet down below (sorry if TMI!), it's not really discharge, just a general wetness in my pants. Also, my bowels have been loose during the day and I feel sort of constipated at night. Have been having some mad cramps, but these pass very quickly. I guess it does sound like things are getting ready to take off, so I should just roll with it.

I had an appointment at 36 weeks, next appointment isn't until Monday (when I'll be almost 38 weeks).

Sending warm wishes to all of you, especially P&P

TLC

MandaHugNKiss · 12/02/2010 16:09

But, Muttley arcadie and Iwcas have you not read that I have sausage fingers?! fingers that look like sausages!!

Oh and whomever mentioned Hamburger Hands - check! The skin on my palms is kinda shiny, I guess from being stretched.

Can I not be permitted to post on account of my 'orribly deformed hands, please, Headgirl?

Arcadie · 12/02/2010 16:10

la la la la la I can't heaaaaaar you!

Thinking of PP* today - hope everything goes well for you

I am absolutely knackred today - beyond belief knackered. In fat, I am going to type this, then go upstairs and lie down and put CBeebies on for DD...hopefully I won't fall into too deep a sleep. DH is back tonight after being away for the week and although it's actually been really nice having a huge bed all to myself, I have really missed him. Amazing - he used to travel so much for work and we both got used to it, but it's been a few months since he has had to and I've just got used to him being around!

Foolishly I invited a friend over for lunch today, had a mad rush this morning as I didn't have all the ingredients I needed, and so had to go out. DD was being a royal pain in the arse and just whinging at everything, which made getting ready an even longer trial than usual. So did lunch, which was nice and then had to rush off to take DD to her swimming lesson, when all I wanted to do was collapse in a heap. Ah well, I can do that now!

Tomorrow I have a pedicure & facial booked - part of Christmas present from DH which I have only just got around to using. Our local day spa is just fabulous, so I am so looking forward to that!

scooby26 · 12/02/2010 18:12

manda - what a lovely distraction. Enjoy it.

Finished work today having gone back for one week ( for financial reasons) worked quite well as I really only did 2 1/2 days and have leave booked for next week but end up with 2 1/2 weeks extra pay!!!

Anyway - off out tonight as celebration - just for a cheeky italian.

Hope we hear from Emlou and P & P very soon and you all have a chilled weekend.

xx
