biccy and skidoodle congratulations!

fibilou if you're still about I didn't mean to worry you about induction I was just trying to reassure you about your decision to wait for the time being and do it naturally

fwiw both my inductions were fine and complication free, I would have preferred a natural labour with less monitoring but I had no complications at all. Baby was described as ''very lazy'' by consultant as I was nowhere near natural labour despite being past 40 weeks, so it got the job done!

Good luck and please please don't worry if you do have an induction, I found a really good thread on childbirth a couple months ago about inductions, it seems people only write their horror stories and you never hear from the majority that go fine

Fibilou · 02/02/2010 10:02

Hi Crumpette, I couldn't keep off here

DH has gone back to work today and I am busying myself with housework and finally doing our wedding album (got married in 2007 !). Got sweep at 2.15 and am trying to keep positive and will cervix to dilate.

Saw my SIL yesterday who is a midwife and if I have to have an induction I will be having it where she works so we discussed the procedure so I feel a bit better. She is due on Sunday so we may end up in hospital together..

Will be so annoying if after an incredibly easy pregnancy I don't get to go to the MLU just because the baby is too lazy to come out. As I said to my Mum yesterday, she is not starting this relationship off on the best foot...

40+9 today

mowmi · 02/02/2010 13:56

Hi ladies,

Many congratulations on all the babies so far - hope you are all well and enjoying this special time.

For those of you still waiting I wish you a speedy time and chocolate until your time comes...

Harry John appeared by emergency c section on Friday night weighing in at a cracking 9lb 7oz.

I'm not going to post my story yet because I don't want to cause any extra stress to those still waiting - rest assured I am lay on my bed at home with my little one lying across a pillow on my legs and loving every minute - I'm already over the labour and the pain of the section really isn't that bad.

Take care all x

Fibilou · 02/02/2010 15:53

Went to mw who managed to do a sweep although cervix is only a little bit open. Have managed to avoid an induction before 42 weeks and have discovered that the due date I was working from (the scan date) is not the official due date so I have bought 1 extra day. Am going in for monitoring and another sweep on Saturday and then have to ring the unit at 7pm on Monday night to see if they have a bed for an induction - by that point I can't deliver at the MLU anyway. So I have bought an extra day and managed to get my post-dates induction not the policy 40+10 so am feeling pretty pleased with self.

Have been having a lot of cramps since sweep, hopefully that is good news. Was not as bad as I was expecting although pretty toecurling.

sockmonkey · 02/02/2010 16:21

Fibilou - that's how I started. a bit crampy and back-achey after sweep. Hope this means they have managed to get things moving for you. fingers crossed!!

Biccy · 02/02/2010 18:19

Hi all. fibi and mama, sounds promising to me!

thx for all the congrats; we are getting closer to a name, but no decision yet.

1 handed typing, but birth story?

bloody show started mid morning on sunday with lots of bh's and cramping. just b4 4pm i cld tell things had started. cx av 7 mins around 8pm. bit stoppy starty. called midwives to warn them i thought labour starting at 10.30pm; still av 7 mins apart. told to call when had been 5mins apart for 45 mins. filled pool anyway; seemed to go off just before 2, was convinced it wasn't regular enough for establised labour, felt weepy, and worried as very intense but i thought still early days. started up again at 2am, by 3am was defo ave 5 mins so called for MW. told she'd be 20mins. almost immediately started to feel pushy. moved to poolside but i wouldn't get in without MW. got friend over in case dd woke up. began to think i couldn't hold on long enough. 3.40 my waters went - felt like baby about to come too! 03.50 MW arrived. straight in pool - bliss! dp fetched kit in. 3 or 4 pushes and head came out. baby born at 4.12am. baby was still and floppy with cord round neck, so cord cut and baby rubbed and he quickly came to. dp traumatised as thought he was SB. natural 3rd stage, and wow what a strong suck! fell for him instantly. just a tiny graze, so no stitches; now just tired and achey.

i was a noisy mare but it did the trick.

ok, hand fallig asleep now, so over and out for now.

good luck mummies in waiting!

mama2moo · 02/02/2010 20:20

Babymoo has arrived! 2.49am this morning, 8lb 13oz!

Contractions got worse yesterday evening after dropping off completely for a few hours. Timed them from 10pm and decided to go in at 1am. By 2am I was ready to push, dp was shoved out of the room and the lovely mw suggested I kneel on the bed leaning over the head board - It was great. I had my lovely gas and air for the whole thing!

Dd came out with her hand on her face and the cord around her like a seat belt. I havent torn and have no grazes - Lovely! The cord was so long that the mw took ages getting it out! Placenta was delivered and all good. Dd pooed on her way out so we had to stay in for 12 hours for observation.

BF is going ok. My nipples are very very sore and it is taking some time to get her latched on but we are getting there.

All I can say is - Thank god its over, I wont be doing it again but it was a great experience and I have another dd who is the spitting image of her big sister

mama2moo · 02/02/2010 20:23

No news here, starting to lose it a bit

Physically I'm fine, but feel like time running out fast and speeding to csec.
Long rant alert!
Had a second dose of acupuncture this morning then straight to hospital for 'just in case' pre-op. Hospital was awful, went on my own, was there + 3hrs, most of it hanging about. Saw 5 different people for bits and bobs, then was left in a room by last doc who wasn't sure if they'd finished with me. Eventually I came out and she'd forgotten to check, I was free to go. The midwife who told me I was on a csec wait list last thurs, and promised would be close to 42 weeks as possible, came to me in the waiting room, and announced we've got your date, it's TOMORROW! I burst into tears in v busy room so was ushered into her office. I refused tomorrow, only 40+6, so now I'm booked for 12th feb, 40+15. My DS was emlcs at 40+15, so now feels like a sign
Had a sweep, but said it wasn't a good one, and was told baby not really engaged, & SHO last thurs was wrong to say was 3/5th in.

All in all a crappy day, just been to yoga to try and relax, but got wound up again at the end getting helpful suggestions of trying RL tea!

After the many sweeps with DS I had slight show etc and cramps etc, nothing after this one.

Acupuncturist suggested returning friday, but I think will leave it, fed up of feeling like I'm throwing money at trying to do what should be natural. I've got a lovely doula booked, if don't labour will still need to pay her, and with yoga classes and acupuncture is all adding up to alot of ££s.

congrats to the new arrivals, and good luck fibilou.

Fibilou · 03/02/2010 07:12

Sweep has had no effect whatsoever and am still here. Looked at MW notes and although she hasn't put bishops score on there it doesn't look good. Head is -3 so only just in pelvis, hardly any dilation and cervix is still "slightly" posterior.

flyingcloud · 03/02/2010 08:29

Just wanted to say congratulations to all you January ladies from someone on the February thread... hope you are all doing well and good luck to those still waiting.

Big congrats too to Devotion as we were wondering how you'd been getting on as you were one of our number before your due date changed.

We've had one February baby (the rest were all early babies, born in January, I think we're on five or six now, bizarrely mostly girls, - I would ask for birthing vibes, but those of you due in Jan who haven't given birth yet need them more than we do.

Good luck!

Fibilou · 03/02/2010 10:41

Keep away from us with your tales of early babies

flyingcloud · 03/02/2010 11:51

Sorry - I am not one of those!!

Mama2b5 · 03/02/2010 14:13

Hi all - sorry i havent posted in a while so busy with planning to get away with DDs & LO and DH im March so passports and checks and bringing forwards jabs and all sorts is keeping me away from PC! Missed you all!

Devo - how are you and LO? havent read post sorry moves way to fast!

registered - Isaiah today!
whilst goin through paperwork discovered that my MW has taken my marriage cert with her along all my notes including the ones needed to take to register him with, had to call them and explain very understanding and all was done now have to wait to get my marriage cert back how could she take it and not notice and if did why not call me and send it back! had a hissy fit and DH had to calm me down!

BF is goin much smoothy now that my breast aint engorged thats hurt!!!!! im not expressing for now because it encourages more milk and im coping with the feds better, for isaiah is on 4 hrs feed- not liking the way he wait till nappies off to pee ive dodged it thankfully with quick reflex and pull nappy over to catch it! now he has milk rash and has alot of wind argggghhhhhhhhhhh!

lilacpink · 03/02/2010 14:19

Congrats to all new babies, and hoping those waiting will have their baby soon (I was around 12 days over and have forgotten drag of waiting now I have baby).

DS sleeps well in day, but feeds continually between 8-12 midnight, last night went 5-12 midnight, but then only woke once for 30min feed . Breasts are getting confused by binge/starve pattern so I'm going to wake him more in day for feeds! Midwife said it had something to do with prolactin hormone - weker in evening so baby feeds more as milk 'weaker'. Is best quality in the morning (apparently).

lilacpink · 03/02/2010 14:23

...hope my first line didn't sound patronising for anyone waiting - meant that when a baby does arrive the memories of waiting and waiting will soon fade

maygirl · 03/02/2010 16:15

Still waitin!

My DS used to do that all the time mama2b5!
I got so fed up I started holding him over the potty when nappy off till the wee had been done! It worked though, I kind of accidently potty trained him early by building this into our morning routine, he started doing nearly all poos into it in the morning, and by ten months hardly ever pooed his nappy again! Going to do the same again if baby is a changing mat performer!

Looking forward to poo nappies, breastfeeding and cuddles soon!

sockmonkey · 03/02/2010 16:20

mama2moo YAY!!! Congratulations.

mistletoekisses · 03/02/2010 19:25

Congrats mama2moo!

to all those still waiting! A friend of mine is now also very overdue and it is doing her head in!

See you all on the postnatal thread really soon!

OP posts:
Mama2b5 · 03/02/2010 20:40

Sorry i missed saying Congrats MAMA2MOO!!!!!!
and welcome your baby girl - wow good weight!

LOL Maygirl - my first boy so this is all new to me dodging him peeing has become a joke because he doesnt do it to his dad! i think its the air that makes he react!
Ahh Maygirl your time will be here real soon baby has to come out! sending your way birthing vibes to kick off tonight for you for you to have Lo tomo am!(it has to happen now!)

Fibilou · 04/02/2010 03:10

Have been up for about a hour and a half with proper, bend over and suck in breath contractions. Every 8-9 minutes and lasting about 20 seconds and could not sleep through them, am downstairs wtih tens on while DH tries to sleep. Have also had a show.
Spent most of yesterday bouncing on ball and walking then had long, erm, oxytocin and prostoglandin obtaining session with DH .

Fingers crossed this is it

sockmonkey · 04/02/2010 08:56

Fingers crosses fibi certainly sounds promising. Wishing you a speedy & easy birth.

Fibilou · 04/02/2010 09:04

Contractions disappeared at 4.30 along with last remnant of hopes for natural labour. Body just does not seem to know what to do
