Afternoon all. Devotion - fabulous news, wishing you all the best. You can do it. x

Yangymac - many many congratulations. Big girl! Look forward to hearing the name soon

Skidoodle - well? Guess you now have your little bundle of joy. Hope you are doing well and look forward to hearing from you too.

Mama2moo, Biccy and Fibilou - sending you lots of strength and.... patience!

I've started today trying out the EASY Baby Whisperer routine/techniques with Olivia. Do you know, despite this being my 3rd, I seem to have forgotten everything ! With the other 2 it was really easy peasy and this one seems to have floored me a bit. Didn't bother with books and just fell into a routine that worked but for the life of me can't remember what I did or how I did it! Oh well. She was supposed to sleep from about 11:30 but was completely grouchy and finally went off 10 minutes ago, I'm now supposed to be feeding her but not sure I have the heart to wake her? Still, no pain, no gain. I guess the first few days of putting the routine in place will be the hardest.

Can't wait for you all to have you babies now! Come on the girls!!

Biccy · 29/01/2010 13:39

Thanks for all the vibes everyone. dd is being very naughty, so I'm not sure I can relax enough for labour!

CTOFN, I think the thing with EASY is to think of it as the order in which to do things, and not get hung up on the timings too much, so it's a routine, but not a schedule, IYSWIM, so I wouldn't wake her, just do the next step when she does wake.

Hi all, another update to the list: Charlotte Elise (yes, another Elise!) was born Sun 24th at 5:35pm. Contractions started at around 7:30am and by 11am, was already 5cm (if only my first birth was this easy!) - things progressed quite quickly after that but the head just wasn't in the right position so baby couldn't push through and had to have an emergency section in the end. Got home yesterday, and DS has been lovely with his new little sister - very proud of him!

Congrats to all the new additions and all the best to the rest who are still waiting!

mama2moo · 29/01/2010 15:19

Congratulations noodles Charlotte is a lovely name

Quite scary seeing the arrived list is longer then the waiting - The pressure is on now!

I had another clary sage bath today - It makes the baby do some odd movements! Getting the odd twinge and keep thinking I need to wee - Is this something that anyone had before you waters went? (Or am I just looking for signs in everything now?!)

I hope devotion is snuggling her new baby

Its dp's nephews birthday tomorrow and I am dreading this baby coming on that day - Nephew is the fav grandchild on that side of the family so would rather avoid them sharing a birthday!

crumpette · 29/01/2010 15:35

noodlesforbreakfast what a lovely name for your little girl, congrats

yangymac! Congratulations! and OUCH! well done to you

mama2b5 so funny 'bigmac' teehee

devotion good luck

wmdo I'm rubbish at links, thank you mistletoe for link to the postnatal thread

sockmonkey · 29/01/2010 18:33

Ooh, lots more lovely babies born. Congratulations to you all!!

Birth story?

Ok, after sweep on Tuesday had back ache, but no real contractions. Went to bed as usual, but back ache was niggly and not really letting me settle. Got up & had paracetamol about 1am. Finally thought it might be more than back ache. Pains coming about every 10 mins. Tried to sleep, but no chance really.

Got up at 3am and started to pack sandwiches for boys dinner, did washing up, checked MN.

Sat on birthing ball when DS2 came down at 4am. Sat with him on my knee and watched some TV. He seemed oblivious to me huffing & puffing.

Went back to bed at about 4.45. DH woke up at 5.30 to ask if I was ok. He started to panic and called hospital, contractions were coming about every 5 mins. They said for me to come in when I felt I needed more pain relief or if my waters went.
DH ordered me into the bath... I was planning on ironing uniforms now everyone was up.

Set off for hospital at about 8am, asked for gas & good drugs at about 8.45 was measuring about 6cm. MW went to go get some paperwork & said to ring buzzer if my waters broke... of course as soon as she left the room waters broke in spectacular style, bringing baby with it like a log flume! One push and she slithered out too fast for anyone to catch. Unfortunately she had pooed, & swallowed mecconium (sp?) so had to stay in over night. I had a small tear but didn't need stitches.

They were a bit worried about her temp being low so had to be checked every 2 hours, and kept on a heated matress. All fine now though. DH and boys absolutely smitten with her. She will be very spoilt!

mama2moo · 29/01/2010 19:40

Great story sockmonkey I hope mine pops out like that!

Any word from devotion yet?

Biccy · 29/01/2010 19:53

Hmmm, nothing from fibilou since before 10am today, and nothing on her AIBU thread. I am really really hoping this means she's on her way, and not that her DH has spent since 10am watching back to back films on their computer...

Biccy · 29/01/2010 19:54

lol sockmonkey at description of your dd rushing out like a log flume! Where did she land?!

Congratulations, spoil away I say.

Fibilou · 29/01/2010 20:55

Sorry, no nothing here. Been out for lunch and asleep most of the afternoon then DH was on the computer.
Sorry to have excited you ! Anything happening for you Biccy ?

Biccy · 29/01/2010 22:05

No, nothing here either... have been having lots of Braxton Hicks today - even they seemed to have died off earlier in the week. But nothing apart from that. Any luck convincing DH to get back to work?

mama2moo · 29/01/2010 22:39

Nothing here either! In 1 hour, 20 mins I will be over due

Loads of bh that are quite painful at times but thats it!

I feel like a ticking bomb

Fibilou · 30/01/2010 08:46

He is going to go back on Monday if there is no action this weekend. I am pretty confident there won't be.

Biccy · 30/01/2010 08:53

Hi Fibi, welldone getting him to go back. Hope you can relax more now, knowing that you're going to have a little bit of time to do some solitary nesting in.

mama2moo · 30/01/2010 09:08

fibilou Thats good news. It will nice for you to be able to relax!

I have been up since 7am having period type pains. Had a shower and they seem to have slowed off a bit. Have told dp and he has got quite excited bless him!

Will wait and see...

Good luck to everyone today I am guessing Devotion has her baby now

sockmonkey · 30/01/2010 09:11

Ooh fingers crossed mama2moo.

Have put a couple of pics of Naomi on my profile.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 30/01/2010 09:23

Sockmonkey - she is truly perfection! Funny though, she looks like a little blond Olivia (my Olivia that is)! I said that about WMDO's Olivia too.... I wonder if that's the thing about babies looking the same/similar? I'd never really thought it before but that's 2 now I have said look my little bundle of beauty .

I also LURRRVE the picture of your DS with pen all over him - how funny !

Mama2moo - oooooh, here's hoping that they pick up rather than die off. Doooooo let us know! Fingers crossed for you and if it does get going, really hope it's a nice easy one .

Birthing vibes sent to others and patience where it's needed.

x

Laura233 · 30/01/2010 13:40

Hi all,

just to let everyone know Amelia Grace was born at 6.52 yesterday morning weighing 8lb 1oz.

Waters broke at 9.30 Thursday night, contractions had started by the time we left the hospital following check up at midnight delivered her the following morning, official labour time was 2:57 so was very lucky!

I didn't really have any signs apart from BH till my waters went so fingers crossed for those of you waiting it comes on quickly for you too!

Hasn't really sunk in she is finally here yet!

Laura x

mama2moo · 30/01/2010 14:09

Congratulations Laura That was quick!

sockmonkey Naomi is gorgeous Your boys look just like you They must be so pleased with their sister.

I am still getting the odd twinge but nothing major - Hopefully something will happen tonight!

mistletoekisses · 30/01/2010 14:53

Congrats Laura! What a fab birth!!

Contraction and birthing vibes to everyone else waiting!

Hello all - a regular reader if not a frequent poster here. Finlay Noah born Fri 29th, at 9 days overdue and weighing 7lb14. Waters broken at 7pm, he arrived at 0050. No drugs except ones to control blood pressure and - best of all - no tearing! Back home now and tired. Good luck to those still waiting.

Fibilou · 30/01/2010 16:08

The good news here today is that I have been having mild, short but regular contractions every half hour or so since I woke up this morning. They don't seem to be gathering pace/length but it's a start.
Talked to my Mum and she said that she had very mild contractions with me, to the extent that the midwives told Dad to take her home the following morning as she was "not going to give birth tonight". That was at 9.30pm. I was born at 1am - and I'm an only child so it was her first birth.

Hoping beyong hope that I am going to follow her example

devotion · 30/01/2010 16:28

Quickie so sorry to ignore other posts.

Baby Uma arrived last yesterday evening at 7.30pm after 15 hours of labour. She was born at home, I had to get out of the pool as I was dehydrated and her heart rate was going up (the pool slowed things down which would not have been a problem if it were not for her heart rate).

2nd stage was minutes, no tears, no resusitation this time like her sisters, came out pink and screaming!

8lbs 5ozs and 57.5cm long!!! Long and skinny so I need to fatten her up. Breast feeding great just got a real tight grip on her, had to check for teeth.

The longest labour out of all three but I actually enjoyed it, dh said he is so glad we had her at home, so relaxing. The hynobirthing I practiced from 5 months was amazing and I had no fear and rode each contraction with my breath except for about three were i had a wobbly moment.

Do not feel traumatised like last time. Wish I had my other two at home and had practiced hypnobirthing. I LOVED MY TENS, used it the whole way (except for time in pool of course) and only asked for gas and air the last hour. Forgot about it.

Well that was not a quickie

I can hear a little bird calling...

Good luck to everyone else waiting.
