Biccy · 28/01/2010 10:40

A friend of mine just texted to say in France due dates are calculated at 41 weeks...

mama2moo · 28/01/2010 11:21

SO, what do we win if we are the last one on the list to give birth??

I have just been for a walk and eaten some pineapple

I so wish I had added to my due date when I told people. I got upset this morning when dp told me to stop worrying about people asking. Hopefully he now knows how much it has got me down.

Good luck to everyone today

skidoodle · 28/01/2010 11:22

Yes, Biccy I'd heard that too, although it was 42 weeks.

Either way, they expect it to take longer on your first.

I think some women just have longer pregnancies. This is my second time going 2 weeks over my due date. This time I am having some minor signs that labour will start eventually (little contractions, some coming away of mucus plug) but last time I had nothing until I went in to be induced.

whensmydayoff · 28/01/2010 11:41

OMG, havent been on for ages. Just read list. Congrats to everyone. Love the names, only two duplicates with the Olivia's so far too.

Im hating every second of my existance if im being brutally honest - which I tend to be !

Olivia's reflux is cronic. She screams screams screams day and night and feeding her is hell. 2 hours of struggling with reflux pain and sheer frustration and tears (both of us). Doctors are cheery, not! Apparently at this age there is no miracle cure. They gave me gaviscon which was thrown up immediately. Sitting by phone waiting for her to phone back to give me proper drugs.

I wanted to do it all naturally, dairy free diet, craniel oestoepath but nothing has helped. I would give her heroin if I thought it would help!

All new mums of new babies do not fear. It is not common to be this bad, Ive specially picked to do it twice, I must have done something really catastrophic in another life !

Ahhh bet your all gald I came back with my happy cheery chat as usual!

Mama2b5 · 28/01/2010 12:20

Congrats to Partyof6- well done!
Sorry to hear WhensMDOFF - that your having a rough one with Olivia, no words of wisdom, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and you will get through it, even if you have torn all your hair out first!!!!
whilst doin the nite feed ive been watching tennis - Loving it!!!

For all that are still waiting im so sending "real labour birthing vibes" to you all a bit of a rush to get them all out by the end of
Jan!
The day before i gave birth i had nothing apart from mucus plug then some bleeding all day - so no pains, no backache no signs till it really all started! (encouragement not teasing)
Devo - how r u?

CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/01/2010 12:21

WMDO - Jeez - I thought I was struggling with the sleepless nights and Olivia not wanting to be put down. What you're going through sounds horrendous.

Have you popped onto post natal to vent and see if any other advice?

Mama2b5 · 28/01/2010 12:27

Oh sorry -congrats FIFI welcome Angus.
And Sazlock - you had Samuel on my (suppose due) date wonderful!!!!!!

alibobins · 28/01/2010 13:03

WMDO really sorry to hear the hard time you having with Olivia hope the doc sorts her out soon.

More babies yeah

I really feel for those still waiting I went 11 days over with Ds1 and got fed up of everyone texting/ringing . When I eventually went into labour it was quick (3 hours) and totally out of the blue no mucos plug no niggles just full on contractions.

It was such a shock that Jacob came early.

crumpette · 28/01/2010 13:03

wmdo gosh I was wondering how you were. Does not even holding her/ in sling etc help? Sounds like you aren't getting any rest at all you poor thing [frazzled]!!! can you get anyone to step in for you while you sleep? come vent on the postnatal thread.

yangymac I'm pretty sure with cx 3min apart that you have a new baby by now, I hope all is well. If no baby yet then best of luck

congratulations new arrivals!!! So exciting

Fibilou · 28/01/2010 13:09

Thankyou for that Ali, it does make me feel a bit better as everyone seems to have been having symptoms dragging out for days before labour before it started properly which was making me even more despondent as I've had absolutely nothing at all

crumpette · 28/01/2010 13:28

fibilou I was moaning at mw that I'd had no symptoms of impending labour and she said that with both her sons she had NO symptoms, no bh, no shows, no mucous plug, no pain, nothing, just suddenly started contractions and that was that.

mama2moo · 28/01/2010 13:44

devotion hasnt posted on here since yesterday morning...

I suppose I should be grateful for the sleep I am getting at the moment. Especially when I see what WMDO is going through - I hope you get something that helps her soon

Im still getting pains every now and then but I just know its not the real thing

mistletoekisses · 28/01/2010 14:18

Ohhh, wonder if Yangy and Devo are having baby cuddles as we type.....

WMDO - come over the postnatal board and vent. to you. I feel exhausted at times and have nothing close to that to contend with. (touchwood). I have a friend who in the end put her DD in a car seat to sleep. It was the only way she stayed sane. Her DD wouldnt sleep anywhere else.

Hello to everyone else, have only had chance to skim posts as finally have more energy and am getting lots of chores done that only I can get sorted.

Birthing vibes to all who need them!

MamaLazarou - many congrats! Come and join us on the post natal thread when you have the time. That's where the zombies are hanging out right now!

mama2moo · 28/01/2010 15:47

mamalazarou Congratulations - Fab name. I wish I was having a boy, I have seen some great names recently

I hope all of you new mums are recovering well. Im not at all jealous of you, not one bit

If I am the last one to deliver from the list I am going to go into mn hiding!!

devotion · 28/01/2010 15:50

still here

no signs at all but glad to read lots had none before it actually started. both other times i had a build up of different signs so we'll see.

was supposed to have my 40 week mw app at home this morning but like every other time they forgot or did not have me down for a visit - so annoying so they said they would send someone at 4.30pm which is when teh girls are back from school and nursery, the whole idea of them coming earlier is its quiet and my day alone. the girls are really interested which is sweet but they want to watch and talk the whole time and i always forget to ask things.

ah well, can you tell i am a bit moany?

getting irritable now!

going to get another sweep to see if that helps.

MamaLazarou, FIFI, Partyof6 and any others i have missed - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! X X X X

WMDO - BIG BIG HUGS! I really feel for you. I remember how helpless you can feel. But someone suggesting a sling may give you some peace and quiet for a bit. Have you got one? My moby wrap is a good one because you can hold them in a kanga hold which enables full skin to skin as there is no material between you and baby so very comforting for them. It covers your body so if you are at home you just leave baby with nappy on and you go topless with sling. It hides everything. This could help between feeds to settle her for awhile.

Laura233 · 28/01/2010 16:09

Encouraging to hear that i'm not the only one that isn't getting alot of signs of labour... having Braxton Hicks every ten minutes, but can hardly feel them apart from bump going hard and soft, have been having them for two days though so not expecting alot.

having been to the hospital on wednesday they couldnt even reach my cervix to do the stretch and sweep so have now come to terms with the fact not going to have her until I am induced next week.

Congratulations to all those that have delivered, and fingers crossed to everyone else that's waiting!

Fibilou · 28/01/2010 16:42

Another day pretty much bites the dust

Am beginning to think this is a phantom pregnancy

sockmonkey · 28/01/2010 17:01

Just a quick post to say baby Naomi Bronwyn was born yesterday morning (27th) weighing 6lb 4 oz... so panic about 10lb baby was not really needed.

Congrats to any babies born while I've been offline... will try and catch up & fill in birth details soon.

devotion · 28/01/2010 18:04

Congratulations sockmonkey - nice neat size

Well midwife came and done a sweep - OUCH! i take it back when I say they dont hurt, this one definitley did and the midwife was actually putting her back into it, she really went for it so fingers crossed. if that does not do it then baby is definitely not ready and i will let him or her be until they are ready.

But while the midwife was here my poor little dd age 3 vomited everywhere, since then she has got sick four more times. the last time was just water so hopfully it just a 2 hour thing. she had only been back from nursery 30 mins so she had to have got it from there because i've kept her indoors since Monday with a bad cold.

I called the nursery and asked if anyone else was sick and they said no so it was probably some selfish mum who's child vomited last night but still sent them in today. so many mums ignore that 24 rule when it comes to tummy bugs and fevers. so their child has probably passed that bug to many other kids today now.

Talk about bad timing too, hopefully my labour does not start now until dd is better. Poor little thing is all pale on the couch looking weak. I just want to cuddle her but worried i will get it so giving hugs but no kisses... just incase.

devotion · 28/01/2010 18:05

24 hour thing i should have typed... 2 hour would be even better though

mama2moo · 28/01/2010 18:26

sockmonkey Congratulations. What a dinky baby Lovely name - That was a quick labour wasnt it?

devotion Your poor dd. Keep disinfecting anything she touches! When dp was ill a few months back I made him open doors/flush the loo with anti bac wipes I hope she is better soon.

Fingers crossed that sweep does the trick
