Oh forgot to mention just received my moby wrap sling and been practicing this morning with dd's lifesize dolls. I love it, it looks so comfy especially for baby. It even hides your tummy which is an added bonus!

mama2moo · 23/01/2010 10:06

Morning all, still no news from Hurry?? I hope all is ok.

devotion I think we need a baby a day now to get through the list! No sign of mine at all though.

I had a sling very similar to that with dd and it was great. Especially in the cold months it will be fab to have baby close to you.

I had a wobble last night about giving birth. I managed last time on gas and air because it was so fast. I hope it all goes so well this time.

Feeling very emotional again today - I cried all of last Saturday. Weird hormones

Mama2b5 · 23/01/2010 14:42

Biccy · 23/01/2010 15:13

Good luck lilacpink and devotion, hope things are getting going for both of you.

I'm joining the 'hold on' brigade. Have come down with a cold, which is making me exhausted and I wouldn't want to pass it onto a newborn, so I'm hoping bub will stay put for a few more days so I can get over the cold (hopefully). Also DP has just started quite a big piece of work, and it would be good if he could get the back broken before baby arrives. I've forced him out to work this weekend to give us more leeway when d-day does arrive.

Ended up in tears in Tesco this morning. Did okay doing the weekly shop with dd, then just on the way back to the car she walked into a trolley (just before I could say 'watch out') and banged her eye quite hard. One of the staff saw it and (without me realising) went off to get the first aider. I sat down immediately on a seat just to comfort dd who was wailing (though really not badly hurt, just shocked, and it must have stung) so before I knew it I had all these people around me fussing, getting ice, checking her head, filling in the accident book; people on the nearby checkouts all looking concerned. So what did I do? Started to cry. Why not, just draw even more attention to the scene Biccy why don't you....

So, we ended up half an hour later than we should have been, so dd was starving and I was all het up and emotional... to add to tired from the week and her first sleep over last night. We're going to snuggle on the sofa now and watch Wall-E... so much for my resolution to keep her away from TV now that I'm on maternity leave!

FifiForgot · 23/01/2010 17:40

Me too Biccy. Horrid cold started yesterday, headache, blocked nose, the works. Just in time for my elective section on Monday morning. I will not be held responsible for my actions if they send me home and say I have got to wait until the cold clears! I'm hoping that my Consultant will let me go ahead regardless, I really don't think that I could cope with the disappointment!!

I'm overly hormonal too, which just adds to the fun. We have been trying to empty the study that will become the baby's room. We don't seem to be getting anywhere and I am getting very cross! Poor DH is just trying to keep his head down and out of the firing line! DD has spent more time in front of Cbeebies in the last few weeks than is strictly good for her and I suspect that its going to continue for a few weeks yet! Its all the more frustrating because DD arrived to a beautiful nursery and a wardrobe full of clothes, this poor child has nowhere to sleep and all the clothes are in a pile in the guest room. I just don't seem to have been able to summon the urgency that I felt last time. Oh well, I've got tomorrow!

Congratulations to the new mummies, I REALLY hope I will be joining you on Monday.

devotion · 23/01/2010 19:33

Siochfradha - wow!
Congratulations and what a great weight for a first baby and early too!!!

FifiForgot - good luck for Monday!

Biccy - ah sorry to hear you had to go through that. our hormones are out of control right now. I keep picking on my poor dd's and feel awful after. they have also been watching far too much tv. so much for spending extra time with them before baby comes.

i am just so focused on labour and being a bit selfish really. dh took them swimming today whilst i went on another cleaning frenzy, scrubbing floors, hovering lampshades (mad?) and then i went to do a 3 mile walk before sh got back because i knew he would have talked me out of it. He called me while i was walking and wanted to pick me up, i refused and said i wanted to walk the big hill (its steep). In the end he drove to me and picked me up 10 mins form the end so I walked for 50 mins when i wanted to walk for 60mins. Guess its better than nothiing.

Fingers crossed something happens tonight now. PLEASE!!!

All these false contractions have teased me enough!!!

Mama2b5 - ahhh I bet he is gorgeous, have you posted a pic of him on your profile? is it true boys suckle harder?

x

devotion · 23/01/2010 19:35

mama2moo - i bet that cry made you feel better after

we all need a good cry sometimes.

hopefully its one of us tomorrow then, looks like a quiet evening x

mama2moo · 23/01/2010 19:54

Siochfradha congratulations I am looking forward to the full story.

devotion No sign of any baby from me today

I have been nesting today and have had the same pains I have had all week all day.

Im very jealous of all of the ladies with their lovely babies already

Has anyone heard from hurrydownthechimney??

sockmonkey · 24/01/2010 07:56

Congratulations siochfradha ooo-eee that's a good sized baby boy.

Hello everyone else

Been getting a lot of calls & messages asking if I've had the baby yet cos they haven't heard from me much... NO! If I had I'd be shouting from the rooftops

I daren't ring anyone just for a chat incase they think it's "news". It's a vicious circle.

DH is fairly desperate to get back to work next week. He's only managed a couple of days in since christmas what with snow and chest infection. As there has been absolutely no sign of baby making an appearance anytime soon I reckon he'll get a few days.

skidoodle · 24/01/2010 08:30

Congratulations siochfradha, another lovely name

hi everyone else, as mean as it may sound, it's sort of comforting to know there are others waiting around like I am. I've lost hope a bit that things will start and just looking forward to cs on Friday.

yangymac hasn't been on for a bit. Hoping her family was right still shouldn't be speculating. On this thread you never get asked if you're "still here"

Biccy · 24/01/2010 08:45

I know, I feel the need to respond really quickly to every call and text because otherwise I know people will start thinking there's something afoot. Problem with that is they'll get the message pretty quickly when there is. Still, guess that doesn't matter really, except I do like the element of surprise in announcing birth!

On phone to my mum yesterday and, a bit accusingly, she said, 'you won't tell me when things have started will you?'. She'd really love to be invited to the birth (I'm afraid I can't think of anything worse) and I know is a bit put out by what she considers my secrecy about it. Basically I a) don't want to feel under pressure to do it quickly because I know people are on red alert and possibly getting worried, b) don't want to give her the chance to get in the car and arrive during labour, as far as I'm concerned the birth of our baby is something that is (excluding essential medical staff) for the eyes of DP only (and possibly DD, if she's here and it works out that way)!

Anyway, due date today for me, and I woke in the night with the worst pain so far. Had to get out of bed, moving around didn't shift it, seemed to move from front to back... woke me up so completely I emptied the dishwasher at 4.30am. Went back to bed, and nothing since. I was reading last night about this pre-labour business, and how this sort of thing can go on for ages (e.g. for best part of the last month!), but the good bit is that you can get as far as 4cm dilated with these on-off 'false labour' contractions. So, I'm hoping I'm one of those, gradually getting to 4cm with a contraction a day over the course of 4 weeks...

devotion · 24/01/2010 11:51

Biccy - that is just what i am going through and it has turned me into a right grump!

last night again painful contractions around belly to back every 13 mins or so for a few hours and then completely stopped! there is no way i could sleep through them.

this has been going on building over the last two weeks. driving me absolutely mad!!!

i am so tired from all the broken sleep, each time they build in pain and i start preparing myself mentally for labour thinking shall i wake dh.

i have to constantly keep the place tidy because im having a homebirth... i'm shattered mentally. when it does start i will be "oh i cant be bothered - take me to hospital and give me that EPIDURAL!!!!!!!!!!!!"

pre-labour is torture! i am not even due until wed so all my family keep telling me to chill and stop being impatient, i would have been if i had no contractions for this long!

moan moan moan, everyday feels like groundhog day right now and i know i will read this in a few weeke with sore boobs and bags under my eyes and think "why was i moaning, i could have just gone and lay in the bath for an hour then... now its quick sink washes "...

self absorbed post im afraid but i'm feeling sorry for myself...

mama2moo · 24/01/2010 12:08

Afternoon all

I am in a lot of pain today - It feels like the baby is even lower today and my bits and tops of thighs are killing me. Walking is just not going to happen today!

Another emotional day - I woke up crying and cant get going. Dp is to blame today though - I found another email from his 'friend' and it just makes me mad to think that he can email another woman about god knows what when Im really struggling at the mo

He will defo not be there when I give birth to this one. He can sit in the cafe or something with a book.

Rant over!

Someone needs to give birth today - We have had a few quiet days

Still no news from Hurry??

Siochfradha · 24/01/2010 12:13

hello again...

yes, giving birth. all a bit mad, isn't it??
we were innocently watching some tv when the bump did a sudden thunk at about 10.45pm. it felt like the baby had fallen off a shelf or something! walked into kitchen as it twinged a bit and next thing, a big gush of water took off between my legs...took a moment to figure out what it was (had i sneezed/coughed etc?). Then action stations!

Hospital told me to give it an hour before calling again. By midnight, period pains had gone into contractions, TENS machine was being cursed at and i was still dripping all over the carpets and bouncy ball. Poor DH had only got his driving license the day before, so the drive was a bit stressy with me digging out the satnav because we were both having mental block about route, despite knowing it perfectly well in normal circumstances!

By 1.30am was admitted at 4cm dilated. Felt much better once in labour suite. Hopped into bath with portable gas and air and just zoned out working way through contractions. They weren't going to examine me again until 8am but i started yowling about urge to push a bit before 5am and DH accidently pulled emergency cord, causing about 6 midwives to hurl themselves into the bathroom, but at least i got examined! "Darling, would you like to have your baby now? You're ready to push"

Of course, then the baby took its sweet time. 2 of the maddest hours of my life. No painkillers, just me on all fours being mental. Big head etc, so ended with midwife giving me the snip and just as a consultant walked into room putting on his gloves, i finally pushed him out at 6.59am - just over 8 hours start to finish.

Most miserable bit was being sewn back together (lots more gas and air) which hurt to buggery and DH got to hold our new son for aaaaages. Jealous!! Still in awe about whole thing and of son. He's good feeder (esp between hours of 11pm and 5am - constant!!) and is just beautiful. Healing well and enjoying just looking at him....madness.

sazlocks · 24/01/2010 13:44

well done siochfradha - you sound like you did great !
mama2moo and devotion and biccy and sockmonkey hope things get going for you all soon. skidoodle with you on the wait for the c section!
fififorgot good luck for tomorrow.

Its due date for me today too and I have not a sausage of a sign. Well that's not quite true - the main sign is the constant (well intentioned) phone calls and texts from people wishing me luck/waiting for news. Like you Biccy I have become obsessed about responding quickly so they are not worried.

So I am holding out for my elective c section on Wednesday and wondering if I can use mind over matter to delay going into labour. Maybe I will start a thread - how to stop going into labour ! if that's not too wierd ?

somewhathorrified · 24/01/2010 13:55

Sending opening cervix vibes to all you guys who are on the verge of birthing and are getting fustrated. And the opposite to those of you waiting crossed legged on a c-section. Selfishly can't wait for you all to join us on the post natal thread.

mama2moo · 24/01/2010 15:50

siochfradha Great story. Lucky that your dh had only just got his license! I hope you are recovering well

I want to be on the post natal thread

Dd has been a monkey again today. Her naps are all over the place - She is finally asleep. I thought 19mo was too early to drop day time napping? Please let it be a phase

Im still getting the same pains but they arent the real thing. I keep thinking my waters might have gone and then realise I am sweating bucket loads

I wish I had a crystal ball so that I knew when it would happen. The waiting and wondering is the worst part.

Off to un pack and re pack mine and dd's overnight bags again! Just to make sure

devotion · 24/01/2010 21:29

Siochfrada - you done fantastic - well done! I bet you feel like you can do anything now

Ouch to the stitches though!

Lots of baths with tea tree oil drops and take some arnica. x x x x

fififorgot - goodluck again for tomorrow.

and to all the waiters - lets just pretend we are not bothered about not going into labour yet. i bet as soon as i change my attitude then baby will come.

so tonight i am saying, "i dont care if this baby waits another two weeks..." honest

CantThinkofFunnyName · 24/01/2010 21:38

Fifi - just a little note to wish you well for tomorrow. I guess at the time I'm writing this you are all set to take your first lot of pre-meds and have had your "last supper". It's hard to believe it was 4 weeks ago that I was prepping for the c/s. By this time tomorrow you will be, undoubtedly, rather tired, but elated with your baby beside you.

See you on the other side!
x

To the rest of you - I feel your pain! You must all be getting to the end of your tether now. Not long to go though, however it happens now. Hoping for easy births for everyone

Mama2b5 · 24/01/2010 23:01

Hi all - just checking in on " Mummies in waiting" Devo - im routing for baby to cum! give me a B.A.B.Y now, now, now!

Ok while family all went to church and Isaiah was sleeping after a good feed i had him beside me on pillow and slept! oh it felt sooooo good!
2pm it began family members turned up all looking to see "ME BOY" and its been none stop all day but i was able to just "go " when he needed feeding and just was gone for 45mins a piece just to chill!im feeling gushes of hormones which i just want to say - "Leave"
DH understands a bit but feels i should allow people to just "come and see him"and next week it will all be over, i had to point out i may be "OVER" if i dont get some "rest"!
Oh well people will be at work tomo and kids at school so roll on monday!!!!!!! Breasts are filling today and feel huge!!!

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 25/01/2010 00:26

Hi all

Well still here, had visit from mw yesterday 41wks examined and had sweep, she said I'm not ready at all, very posterior and she tried to bring it forward??. I have appt at hosp on tues. she has wrote in my notes I'm 1-2cm but she never told me??

Went to party last night (for an hour) arrived at 8pm and got home at 1am, knackered but it was very nice to see everyone.

I have now been having pains since about 6pm, started at 20mins and have been at 10mins for a couple of hours. all dcs in bed and have sent dh to bed, well no point in us both being up, just wondering whether I should go to hosp or try and get some sleep. They are quite painful but not lasting very long. My sister is an hour away and I don't want her to come if its not necessary. Oh well, here comes a pain.
