Mama2b5 CONGRATULATIONS! Well done you what a speedy labour!!! !

hurrydownthechimney wow good luck. I feel your pain, I was having contractions and I saw the mw write in my notes : 'SUSPICIOUS, 'contractions' too early and not registering on monitor' she then adjusted the monitor and corrected her comment when she saw massive contractions registering!!! I was sooo p*d off! As if anyone would fake contractions> they then examined me immediately after that and were surprised to find I was 5cm...

good good luck, in both my labours once I was past 4cm it went really fast so don't hesitate getting back to hospital if you find the contractions are coming very quickly! good luck

crumpette · 22/01/2010 10:57

yangymac, fingers crossed !

sazlocks · 22/01/2010 11:15

yay mama2b5 - fast work - well done !

HDTC good luck today and yangymac - hope things get going and you get to meet babyyangtmac v soon.

Biccy yes I cried when DS said Mummy - I even shed a tear again when I saw your post -who said that pregnancy hormones make us all emotional !

I think I must be one of the only people on here wondering how to put off labour. I know that sounds bizarre but I have kind of got my head around my elective c esction on Weds. No idea if I will go that long but I will only be 40+3 so here's hoping!
Good luck to anyone else actually wanting birthing vibes

hurrydownthechimneytonight · 22/01/2010 11:19

crumpette how fast was fast as these cons seems back to back in terms of not much time in between them!? They are getting more painful but im so adamant to wait as long as I can!

crumpette · 22/01/2010 11:25

DD was 27 mins from 3cm

DS was about 40 mins from 5cm

If there's not much time between them I'd err on the side of get thee to the hospital! I know it's nice to be in your own environment and avoid being strapped to monitors etc, but I just know that personally the first part of labour for me takes hours then onve I'm in active labour it's all over very quickly

and remember, if you feel like you need a giant poo it's baby's head trying to come out... don't push!!!

It's your call, once the contractions are pretty much on top of each other I'd say you're in the transition stage ie nearly fully dilated, good luck whatever you choose. Definitely give them a ring x

crumpette · 22/01/2010 11:30

... of course my mother was apparently in labour for 50 hours with me so it varies massively [ouch- probably explains why we don't get on too well!!]

definitely go back if your waters go again

Morning everyone!! Heaps of posts.

Congrats to all the new mummies and new arrivals.
Mama2b - congrats! I just rescued my phone from my handbag and saw your text! Sorry! For some reason, havent kept the phone by my bed the last few days! What a fantastic delivery.

Lots of birthing vibes coming out to the people wanting their bubs here! I can only imagine how uncomfy you all are feeling so hope your LO's make an appearance soon.

Well Nico is 15 days old today - and I am starting to feel the effects of having a newborn! Am quite tired, he has been feeding like a demon. But the good news is that he was gained a 1lb 2oz in 15 days! Hoorah! Think the MW was very surprised by that achievement on Bmilk alone!
On the flip side, he still has a tinge of jaundice so have now been referred to the GP as is now classified as prolonged jaundice. I am not worried as he seems perfectly healthy and I have just read how prolonged jaundice is more common in breastfed babies. Hope it clears up by itself by the GP appt next week - otherwise will mean trip back to the hospital.

Aside from that, made the grave error of getting on the scales yesterday! Have a whole stone more to lose than when I was pregnant with DS1. Oh well, tis more than worth it for a healthy bub!

Sorry for not replying to more posts, both DS's asleep, so am going for some zzzz's too!

biccy Thank you He is going to get it shorter gradually so that its not such a shock for us!

Been getting pains low in my bump again today but Im not convinced its anything. I think I will 'know' when it is something.

Sending birthing vibes to everyone still waiting

CantThinkofFunnyName · 22/01/2010 13:23

MK - I have 2 stone to lose to get back to pre-preg weight. Very upset about that. Been for a very brisk hour and half walk today, came back like a drowned rat and now am completely knackered!

HDTC - WTH are you still doing at home? Get thee to hospital pronto

Yangymac - Fingers crossed for a speedy delivery

yangymac and mama2moo - I also feel your pain. I'm 41 weeks now and have been having various pains for the past week (since I decided against my CS). Saw the doctor today and cervix not looking favourable at all

I'm booked in for a CS next Friday if nothing has happened by then and I'm starting to resign myself to that.

Also just found out that my Granda is probably dying. He has very advanced Alzheimer's and has been in specialist home for dementia sufferers for 6 years. So in a way his passing will be a blessed relief, but when it's happening it's still very sad My Granny will be devastated. Her whole life revolves around visiting him. What she'll do now I have no idea.

Ski - so sorry to hear about your granddad. Thoughts are with you and your family. Does your gran live near you?

CTFN - 2 stone here too. Last time only had a stone to lose after DS1 was delivered. I know it'll come off, especially once I start running again. But if it is anything like the last time, it wont be easy until I stop bfeeding. So just have to relax about it all, enjoy my bub (am not going to let losing weight cut short bfeeding) and then get back up to belting out some 10k runs. Although DH and my mum tell me I was too skinny before I had DS2 and want me to keep some weight on. Bless em, they'll say anything to make me feel better!
btw - you are doing really well post cs. I am still taking things really easy.

Am thinking about Hurry, she must be in hospital....no further posts!

skidoodle Im sorry to hear that. A baby is often a welcome distraction when things like that are happening IYSWIM.

yangymac I havent had pains that bad yet. Maybe something will start tonight - Fingers crossed for you

I have been checking all afternoon for updates from Hurrydownthechimney - I hope she has her baby in her arms now

mistletoekisses I have about 4 stone to loose after this baby! I had just got into my pre baby jeans when I fell pg with this baby It took 9 months to loose it that time.

skidoodle · 22/01/2010 18:41

Thanks yangymac and mistletoekisses - actually you've made me think that actually I'm lucky to have had so many years with him. He's an old man who had a good life, so although we'll all miss him, there's a lot to be thankful for.

My Granny lives about 100 miles from me, but very near the rest of the family, and with my aunt and her family. She'll be OK but a little lost. She's 92 and can walk for miles. Also she swears by walking for bringing on labour She had my Dad at home in the 50s.

Hoping hurry is busy having her baby, she sounds a very determined lady staying home until the contractions were so close together.

yangymac your contractions today sound very full on, it must be terribly frustrating to have them just go away like that. They will have done their work though, even if you do have to wait a bit longer to reap the benefits

lilacpink · 22/01/2010 22:04

I think I'm 41+4 (was due on 11th). Due to be induced tomorrow, but have just had 4 strong 8-9min apart contractions in a row, so off to grab tens and hope this lasts. Having said that, this could just be my upteenth false alarm. Dynamite rocket tomorrow if nothing else works

Wishing strong contractions for me and everyone who wants them, can't go on forever eh?

mama2moo · 22/01/2010 22:25

lilacpink I hope it is the start of things for you Keep us posted and good luck.

skidoodle - sorry to hear about your grandad, sounds like you had many years together so i hope you can hold those memories close to your heart. even though you said about him being ill for a long time, death is so final and an ending is always hard. sending you big hugs. sounds you like you have some great genes there, your nan - 92! Thats fantastic

So who will be born today?

Contractions again during the night and had to actually concentrate on my breathing through them but now nothing

If they come again tonight I am going to get out of bed, slippers on and get to work on the communal stairs in our flats!

I dont mind losing sleep with a newborn baby but mothernature is not being kind doing this just beforehand. I am shattered and have big dark circles under my eyes from constantly waking in during the nights.

moan moan moan...
