Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Biccy · 17/01/2010 19:48

Oh chickbean I'm glad to hear other 3 yr olds seem to be a constant Q&A session. DP was out last night, so I was on my own with dd from first thing until about 3 this afternoon when friends arrived; went supermarket shopping and was just beside myself when we got back - so wanted to try and tune into what my body was doing as I was so uncomfy all morning, but just couldn't with the constant 'why, what, where, how'... and does yours repeat back your every answers verbatim? She's not being naughty in the least, just very very curious, but after 8 hours of it non-stop I was a screaming point...

chickbean · 17/01/2010 20:10

Biccy - I was like that over the weekend - rather agitated and just couldn't really bear the constant stream of commentary - usually can go into autopilot (especially in the car). Unfortunately DS is very naughty as well as very curious

FifiForgot · 17/01/2010 20:20

chickbeam and Biccy I feel your pain! DD is 3.5 and we have a constant stream of "why, what, who, how", I am v v grumpy, uncomfortable and generally short of temper so not a good combination! DH has been dealing with her today, so I have had a bit of rest from it!

I am so ready for this baby to arrive, I've been have "tightenings" for the last 3 days on and off, not to mention the awful heartburn. On Friday I was confined to bed by the midwife and today I have been in bed with a migraine. All in all, not a good few days! The pains don't get regular enough for me to think about ringing the hospital which is all the more frustrating! I'm due for an elective section on 25 January and would be having an emergency section should I go into labour before that. I am in two minds, part of me wants this over NOW (I'm 38 weeks so baby is "cooked"), but on the other hand, my lovely Consultant is doing the section on 25 January and I really want him to deliver this one. Mainly due to the horrific complications I had when DD arrived. Oh well, if the worst comes to the worse, this one will be here in a week!

Sorry to moan, but DH is sick of me talking about it!!

Congratulations to all the new arrivals - I can't wait to add my name to the list!

chickbean · 17/01/2010 20:52

Fifi - I hope that all goes well for you this time. I'm due on the 25th, so I will be thinking of you if I don't hear any news sooner. I hope you get your consultant, whenever the baby decides to make an appearance.

quirkychick · 17/01/2010 20:56

Just a quick update as I was only discharged from hospital today.

Baby quirkychick (girl)was born on 12th Jan and weighed 7lb 13oz.

My plans for a quick, calm c-section didn't quite go to plan. I had lots of adhesions and scar tissue from the previous section so it took about 40mins to get baby out. The spinal started to run out towards the end and so I was drugged up on morphine and gas and air.

Sadly, our baby has down syndrome but she is absolutely gorgeous. We had a bit of a scare the day after to see if she needed to go to Gt Ormond's St for heart surgery but her heart has a very minor defect and she seems very healthy.

I have been madly expressing colostrum which is very tedious, bfing, expressing properly now milk comes in and topping up until her feeding becomes stronger but she seems to latch on ok just needs to keep it up.

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster and I will catch up with everybody's news properly later.

chickbean · 17/01/2010 21:43

Congratulations Quirkychick - hope baby QC is okay now and doesn't have any more complications - is she home with you?

Mama2b5 · 17/01/2010 22:22

Huge congrats to all the new arrivals - Flyinma and Aidan - my close friends sons called that and his lovely!,Mrs Vik and Quirkychick!!!!!!

Mama2moo - if DP is not at birth who will your birthing partner be??

AliB - hows Jacob - poor love he cant just cough up the cold mucus on his chest so laying flat must not be nice!

Ok - seems like alot of us are getting those pains and why at nite????? i have had a few restless nites now and find myself knackered in day! DH cooked dinner so i just had to eat! finally plans for DCx4 when this happens depending on time of day!!! such alot to think of!MIL should be on hand only 15 mins away so not bad!

MTK- CTOFN - i sent details - did you get them???????

Biccy · 17/01/2010 23:04

Congratulations Quirkychick, though sorry about your CS ordeal. So glad your dd didn't need the emergency heart surgery, and that she is latching on okay.

JoInScotland · 17/01/2010 23:22

Hello,

I was due on the 12th of January according to the NHS, but according to my own dates, I'm due on the 19th. I went in for a check-up on the 13th, and they wanted to do an internal exam and offered me a "sweep". I declined both because of course I don't consider myself overdue yet. The more I read about "sweeps" the less I want one. I'm scheduled to go in on the 20th, and I said I would agree to an examination at that time, but how do you refuse a "sweep" when they keep pressuring you? I have heard they can be very painful and cause bleeding, that they do not necessarily bring labour on any quicker than it would have happened naturally... and surely the baby will come when it is ready? I do not mind going up to the 42 weeks as long as the baby is not distressed at all. What happens if you keep refusing sweeps? Do they do ultrasounds and listen to the baby's heart or what is it that they do exactly?

Congratulations QC Hope you are soon over the stress of a complicated CS, and that little QC grows stronger and healthier every day. Very scary about the heart defect. sending you lots of ((hugs))

Congrats to Jasmeen too - more little girls added to the list. Beautiful name too.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 18/01/2010 08:22

Congrats QC and Jasmeen. QC I would just like to echo Yangymac's comments that I too have noticed your post about DS and hope that you get all the support and information you need in RL. x

mama2moo · 18/01/2010 08:48

Congratulations to everyone who has given birth, they are coming thick and fast now

mama2b5 If dp isnt at the birth I will do it alone. When I had dd I kept sending him out. I found I coped much better when I was on my own.

We got on quite well yesterday but still havent talked about anything. My hormones seem to be horrendous at the moment - Anyone else? Dp thinks its just an excuse though.

I have a friend coming today with her 6mo ds. Its going to be good to see how my 19mo is with him!

alibobins · 18/01/2010 09:09

Congratulations quirky I also echo yangymacs post I know its not the same but I've had a rollercoaster ride with Jacob and found the support on here amazing sometimes its easier to talk to strangers than family

Congratulations jasmeen

Got a doctors appointment for Jacob at 9.30 so we'll see what they have to say x x

Mama2b5 · 18/01/2010 09:14

Congrats to Jasmeen - hope all is well with you and DD

Wow im so used to the usual names seen over and over again, that when you hear the baby news you feel so "intouch" because of our journeys and constant updates!
There are so many names on the list I wonder if they have forgotten and are just away in "lalala land" with there LO -the list still seems so LONG!!!!!!!

In alot of pain last night, belly tightening, pushing pain right on bladder then release, this lasted about an hour! DH was pratically in the car, had to tell him no dont think its time yet!!!!! fell asleep after 4am and up for kids 7.10am, DH is fast asleep, i think i moving on adrenaline, tiredness will hit me later, but with DC gone nothing stopping me from sleeping till 3.10pm!!!!

Im ready for LO now - 39 weeks today - so BRING IT ON!!!!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 18/01/2010 09:20

Mama2b5 - got your email yesterday and replied. Check and let me know if you received. x

Mama2b5 · 18/01/2010 09:24

CTOFN- Yes i did, thank you! hope all is well with Olivia xx

Devo & Happybump - how are you?????

chickbean · 18/01/2010 09:39

JoInScotland - it seems that sweeps can vary incredibly - there was a whole thread about them see here and various mentions in other threads. I had my sweep at 41 weeks, it was a bit like having a smear test and labour started 2 hours later (+5 more hours to birth) - so I had a very good experience.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 18/01/2010 11:27

I've just been out!!! Not very exciting for some of you to know - but wildly exciting for me! Olivia is 3 weeks old tomorrow and apart from the car journey back from the hospital and a car journey to have my swine flu jab booster last week, it was the first time I've been out!

Had a little walk around the block to the post office and now back home. Boy it felt good though! BUT shows how slowly I need to take it as I could feel my scar area stinging - apparently its the nerve endings starting to come back - ouch.

So I'm a happy bunny today. Wonder who will give birth next?

mistletoekisses · 18/01/2010 11:52

Morning all!!

CTFN - Yay, well done you! I am still tucked up in bed. . Nico was feeding heaps last night, plus , having had no lochia for days, got more this morning. So plan to take it really easy today.

Mama2b - hope you are resting up. In my NCT class, they explained that the hormone that peaks and kicks off labour naturally peaks in the body in the early hours of the morning. So that is why so many women start labour/ waters break etc. etc in the middle of the night.

Ali - Hope your appt went well this morning, let us know what they say.

Mama2moo - good to hear from you again. Pre delivery, my hormones were all over the place. Plus my brain was addled! I found that making decisions over what to cook for dinner was too much for me. Just get through the next few weeks, let your hormones settle a little.

Crumpette - havent heard from you, hope that you are ok.

Jasmeen - Huge congrats to you!

QC - to you. Thank goodness heart surgery was not needed and great to hear that the feeding is going well. Keep us updated with your progress.

Everyone needing birthing vibes - sending em your way.

Newborn shatteredness has finally hit me, am hoping this is just another growth spurt!

Hello
mistletoe I'm OK thanks, DP at work so not hogging my laptop ....

Huge congratulations to bethoo, somewhathorrified, mrsvik, jasmeen, ampster and quirkychick!

Wow, all these babies it's funny I am suprised by how many there are, then I remember duh it's an antenatal thread due January... not sure what I expected!

ampster I am especially in awe of your fabulous birth!!

quirkychick I have no personal experience of downs but my DD was ill last year and I know how much of a toll any illness can take on you and how isolating it can sometimes feel. I am so happy to hear that your baby girl is here and gorgeous and no surgery was required, you must be very relieved. Are you at home with her now? Congratulations, please feel able to vent as much as you care to on here if you would find it helpful x
