Oooooh FPT!! Good luck! Hope everything goes smooooothly for you. How exciting. (glad it's not me yet though!)

Hope everyone has a very happy christmas. Just off to bake some mince pies for Santa (he prefers home made ones apparently)

FakePlasticChristmasTrees · 24/12/2009 17:50

thanks for the nice messages - am back at home, if contractions don't get moving properly before 8am tomorrow I've got to go back to be induced.

Just had a contraction, but not all that bad, hopefully will speed up so i don't have to be induced.

I had no idea how much liquid it would be! Ladies, pack shedloads of pads, several trousers etc.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 24/12/2009 19:03

FPT - just had a quick log on whilst checking Santa's progress on Norad! OMG!!! Very jealous of course, but hoorah for you! This is going to be a Xmas Day baby isn't it?

Well sending you many good birthing vibes and hoping you have an easy time and beautiful baby by this time tomorrow.

xx

MissMarjoribanks · 24/12/2009 19:40

FPT - best of luck for your Christmas baby. Hope you have a quick and painfree (as far as possible) labour. I was shocked by the sheer volume of liquid when my waters were broken too - it was absolutely loads...

Carpal Tunnel - I had this really badly around week 28 and wearing Tubigrips all the time, but particularly at night, really helped.

I'd just like to publicly praise my DH for being an absolute star. He's currently cooking me the traditional Polish Christmas Eve meal, albeit a slightly Anglicised version, as he's not in the slightest bit Polish. I'm half Polish and its a family tradition for me which I'm glad I'm not losing. I haven't lifted a finger in the kitchen since Thomas was born.

Mybox · 24/12/2009 20:45

Good luck everyone - I'm from the dec09 group. I had my dd 2 weeks early! Best wishes xx

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 24/12/2009 20:50

How exciting a christmas baby, I am very envious, but also very excited for you. Sending you some easy as painless as possible vibes.

In all my 4 previous pg I've never actually had my waters go on me, I've always started with conts and then had to have them broke, apart from last one when thay went whilst I was in the pool.

I was up from 3am till 5am last night with pains and tightenings every 15mins, but they came to nothing. Have been getting them again tonight but I hope I can just get through tomorrow and then I'm free.

Hope everyone is okay and coping with stress, pressies, family etc,

marj sorry Thomas won't be home for christmas, sending you both hugs.

alibobins · 24/12/2009 20:53

FPT Good luck and loads of labour vibes to you x x I was induced the day after my waters broke and the induction was not bad at all as I was already 2cm and my waters had gone I went straight on the hormone drip to bring on contractions.

Can't believe DS2 is 2 weeks tomorrow it makes me all teary thinking about it but I'm just so relieved we made it home for santa

Well Dh gone collecting gifts from mil house so I had better make some room under the tree.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

mistletoekisses · 24/12/2009 21:31

FPT - How exciting!! Positive birthing vibes coming your way!

Hello to everyone else! Have had a lovely christmas eve...christmas pj's, hot chocolate and marshmallows with the Polar Express DVD! Heaven! Cannot wait for the morning now.

Happy christmas everyone!

shinybaubles · 25/12/2009 08:54

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas. And thanks for the supportive messages. Ds was allowed home after they identified the virus that caused the pneumonia. The bad news is that the virus that caused it will be contagious and highly catchable by the new baby for up to 40 days.
Oliver Martin was born yesterday weighing 7lbs exactly. Will post some photos and will update more later - just wanted to say thanks for all the support.

sockmonkey · 25/12/2009 09:41

Congrats Shiny! Welcome Oliver!

Hope FPT is doing ok.

Has been a lovely low key uber relaxing day (spent in my lovely 'lounge suit' aka posh pyjamas. DH did a lovely christmas lunch, got me lots of lovely little surprise gifts and DS loved his big present.

Hope everyone else has had a lovely Christmas. Now that today is done, am totally ready for this bub to come!

MissMarjoribanks · 25/12/2009 22:29

Congrats shiny on the birth of Oliver.

Merry Christmas one and all.

ampster · 26/12/2009 09:02

congratulations shiny on the birth of oliver! and best of luck fakeplastictrees, hope it's all going ok! can't wait to hear your news!

christmas day was lovely, DS1 totally overwhelmed with the presents his grandparents got him - an igglepiggle dancing toy, a wheelybug, a car park with a ramp to whizz the cars down - spoiled much?

bump just getting bigger and bigger. rib cage feels really sore in the night and sleep is just a distant memory. still oblique at last appointment (36 weeks) so if she's not head down next week i'll get another scan. so yay that i might see bub again, but not-yay that she might not be in position for the birth. but then i've heard second babies don't engage sometimes till the beginning of labour, so am trying not to stress too much.

hope you all are having a lovely festive, restful boxing day!

sockmonkey · 26/12/2009 09:14

just checking in to see if there was any news from FPT. Hope everything is going well.

Spent most of yesterday assembling toys with DH. Boys had a great day. Dispite saying he'd do it I did end up cooking christmas dinner instead of DH, but I don't really mind cos he was entertaining the boys.

Biccy · 26/12/2009 09:31

Merry Christmas everyone! We had a quiet day at home too; DD loved her presents (managed at the last minute to work out what it was she was asking Father Christmas to bring her, so she thinks he's very clever!). Struggled a bit when DP took himself off for a nap in the afternoon leaving me to try and entertain DD and get the christmas dinner ready (Eh hem, I am the one with the low BP and low iron...); and was rather upset to discover I had got stretch marks for christmas. Hrmph.

But, he was very appreciative of my culinary efforts, and did do all the cleaning up, and to my standards too. Going to see family this afternoon, so hoping I can collapse on a sofa there and be looked after just a little bit...

Congratulations shiny on the arrival of Oliver, and so glad DS is home.

Ooh, christmas was my last hurdle; really must try and enjoy the anticipation of the next few weeks before baby arrives, and use the time well; but I too am suddenly starting to feel impatient (and uncomfortable) - and I've still got a month to go!

Fraochsmum · 26/12/2009 09:58

Morning all!
I have a sad realisation today - I can no longer bend over and have to go on my knees to pick up after the doggies after being so smug about cutting my own toenails the other day too
We had a lovely day yesterday, baby was almost constantly moving so wondered if it might be a sign, but probably more to do with a big breakfast, brunch, 4 course dinner and cheese & bics supper! I got another couple bottles of champers to celebrate after with too - this could be messy...
Glad you managed to enjoy your meal Biccy, sorry about the stretch marks tho.
Ampster - I still wasn't engaged at last weeks appointment (37+4, 1st baby) but she was sure I would be by next app on Sunday. Although he is in the right position for it so I'm not concerned - yet!
Hope all is well with FPT x

Mama2b5 · 26/12/2009 11:07

Hi all -

Congrats shiny and baby Oliver Martin! good news - that DS is on the mend, bad news -contagious and highly catchable by the new baby for up to 40 days. oh boy!

I have recovered after a action packed - christmas - church, home DH checked on chicken & beef done- called Bros & Sis they arrived we ate and had plenty, played games DC un wrapped and screamed at gifts and then came out the chocs and then desserts! a very wonderful day most done by DH & DD - so very happy, when i attempted to help was ran away by DH!
So happy the DC loved gifts so all those hours of shopping and wrapping was worth it! My Mum would of been so proud of us all!
DH bought me some lovely gifts but the best one is a DSi - which i love and can play while in hospital!

Wonderful to hear you all had a wonderful day
Christmas over roll on Jan, roll out more babies!!!!!

How are you CTOFN?

whensmydayoff · 26/12/2009 11:33

Merry xams everyone and congratulations shiny That's great news that your DS is on the mend too. Just make sure kisses are on the cheek and not the lips for the next 40 days! I know you'll be worried though, new baby's are guaranteed to make you more so.

Ive had a lovely time since Olivia was born - until xmas eve when (as predicted on this thread before DD was born)......

-Oh that was funny typing DD !

My in laws spoiled it and had me in tears all xmas eve evening, through every night feed and xmas morning on and off (hormones)!

They have been a pain in the arse all week, turning up without phoning, moaning if they are asked to phone. Demanding to get everything their way.
On thursday Olivia's Jaundice was really bad and the midwife said that morning she would return at 4pm to review her again as she wasn't very alert.

two of the sisters and their daughtrers were coming round so I phoned to cancel with what I thought were exeptional circumstances. Not happy.

They then phoned back at 4.30pm - not to see how we were, but to see if they could still come.

When the one sis that phoned said her 12 yr old DD was upset she couldn't come I stupidly said, oh just you and DD pop round quickly then.

World war 3 errupted bacause the other sis missed out.

We then said instead of having 11 of them on xmas morning now that Olivia had turned up early, we would rather leave it to boxing day so what little time we had with DS, could be relaxed.

World war 4!!

I just flipped and phoned the most offending sis and was not prepared for the backlash..

"she shouldn't have to phone to see her neice, it should be an open door anytime. She couldn't care less how tired I was that was irrelevant. Xmas should be about family (her family) and they should be wolcome every xmas day to see their neice and nephew, Boxing day isn't the same".

I knew they couldn't give a crap about me but I wasn't quite ready to actually HEAR it.

Crying endlesley then insued all through xmas.

I said early they ruined every special occasion in my life and I wasn't going to let them ruin this and I bloody let them . They only see everything as about them and what they can get from it and can never have any consideration for us.

Now Im getting ready to drag DS and DD round the 3 sisters different houses and he so doesn't want to leave his train set .

Right, Ive got it all off my chest now. Not very festive I know and sorry for the moan but now I can breathe a bit now!!!

I wonder if FPT had a xmas baby then? Oh maybe there was more than one xmas baby?

CantThinkofFunnyName · 26/12/2009 11:36

Morning all. What a lovely couple of days we all seem to have had. Desperate to hear from FPT! No doubt she will have had baby by now, but perhaps has a few more important things to do than check on MN! Probably still in hospital!

My DH has been an absolute star. Had 15 pax for buffet lunch on Xmas Eve which he prepared an absolute feast for. Not only did he do tonnes of food, he washed, wiped, loaded dishwasher etc all as he went and by 8pm Xmas Eve the house was spotless, kids were asleep, Santa had visited under the tree and stockings were filled. All by DH!!

4.30am the kids woke us up Xmas Day (urgh) and all the present rigmarol was over and done with by 5.45!! At 7am DH and I decided to go back to bed for a couple of hours whilst the kids played . Was fast asleep until DSD phoned to wish us Happy Christmas etc. Then DH prepared the entire Christmas dinner with MIL, SIL, BIL & nephew arriving around 3pm. He's a great cook and enjoys it but again, he made sure everything was cleared away at the end of the night. Because its Xmas, all the Wedgewood comes out too so proper washing up rather than just the dishwasher.

I spent most of the day hardly able to move as baby keeps engaging, then disengaging and with the SPD it is truly agony. I also appeared to swell to ridiculous proportions yesterday, which alas, today has not disappeared. Ankles, feet and hands - urgh. A most peculiar feeling.

Today I feel I should do some tidying, washing etc as my 3 stepchildren arrive from Ireland tomorrow lunchtime and I need to at least change bedding etc!!!

Anyway - 3 more days to go for me [frgin] ....

OP posts:
somewhathorrified · 26/12/2009 12:04

whensmydayoff poor you. How dare they spoil your xmas. I'd go into a major strop if they did that too me...open door policy indeed, what rubbish!

I had a quite a boring day tbh, although I was a bit annoyed at not being able to fit much food in (bub's hogging all the space) so it was a matter of just grazing with the smallest xmas dinner you've ever seen!

I too have swelled up like a balloon, am currently wondering if feet and ankles can actually burst
