Ali - how exciting!!!! All those vibes CTFN was sending must have worked and am pretty sure you got to see the nativity?? hope you did. Cannot wait to get your update!

mistletoekisses · 10/12/2009 18:17

Would you believe that the email address I used for the same thing back in sept 07 is still active!!

Ok, so this is how it worked last time.

Email me on [email protected]
Email me with your mnet nickname and then as much personal detail as you feel comfortable with.
Email address, real life name, geographical location, mobile number.
This all gets put on a spreadsheet/ word doc and gets emailed out to everyone who has given details.

I tended to send one spreadsheet out once a week as I found more on the thread added themselves to it as they found out about it.
Let me know when you have emailed and I will go and collate.

Welcome Thingiebob!

Mistletoe - I have emailed you!

OP posts:
mistletoekisses · 10/12/2009 19:39

Have replied! I'll be your text buddy.
shame we didnt do this in time for Ali.

whensmydayoff · 10/12/2009 19:54

OMG alibobins, how exciting. Can't wait to see who appears next!

Im hooked on this site!

mistletoekisses I bet your all from England eh? Im from Scotland so prob no point. I struggled to get to my local Starbucks in first few weeks so England might be a task!!

Fraoch So sorry. My Fil had cancer twice when I was PG with DS and I know how horrid the feeling is when your PG, the 'what if's' (i don't need to say it).
Remarkably he is still here, healthy and awaiting No.2. I really hope there's more positive news soon.
Lots of people DO survive cancer so fingers crossed (im one of them ).

shinybaubles Don't think like that. A csection is no walk in the park. I know id rather have been walking around within the hour instead of in hosp for 6 days.
You should be every bit as proud of yourself for what you have been through to get LO here!

Is there no chance the baby will turn?

Right c,mon ali, stop mucking about with labour and get back on MN!

sazlocks · 10/12/2009 20:18

Catching up on the pages and pages.

In no particular order alibobins hope that things with your DD improve soon

lottie your MIL sounds seriously bonkers. What's with the FB intrusion as well. If I was you I would just delete her . I must admit I got rid of my FB account as I got sick of all the madness it caused. Guess its useful to have though while you are away from the UK as I imagine you still have loads of family and friends here.Sounds like you are not the only one on here with toxic family members.

Fraochsmum - sorry to hear your news - sending you most unmumsnetty hugs

CTOFN glad all settled with you

OMG exciting, excting,exciting news alibobins

All good with me although feeling huuuuuge and can't imagine making it to the 24th Jan. 4 more days at work and counting. Am an NHS manager and they are really getting their pound of flesh out of me before I leave

Great offer to coordinate a list Mistletoe - am working up to provide my details. Guessing that I am probably closest to flying ma distance wise.

devotion · 10/12/2009 20:59

Alibobins - so sorry i dont know how i missed your post about your little girl. sorry to hear she is going through that. never heard of that before. when will they be operating on her eye. Big positive and healing thoughts sent your way x x x x

And whats all this talk about you in labour, tried to find that message but can not see it? anyone tell me?

hope you are well and everyone else - hello!

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 10/12/2009 21:41

Hi all

devotion bottom of page 30 17.08 waters broke about 10 mins previous.

I only go out for a chinese (which I am well and truly stuffed) and there are waters breaking, families at war. I have a mil who opens her mouth before her brain engages so often offends people, and I seriously don't think she knows she does it. So when I answer back or tell her shes wrong she looks all shocked. After 13 years though I try to ignore as much as possible, which ain't easy as we are literally on each others doorstep. Canada don't seem like a bad thing. She has gone to her daughters (another country) for the last two xmas' and only spoke with our 4 by phone or skype, then gets all upset saying that she'll stay here in future. Hence 3 upset little girls on xmas day, cheers.

Ali hope your dd will be okay and you get some good news next appt.

Sorry about your news fraoch, thinking of you

London just kill ignore the crazy woman

Hello to any newbies i've missed

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 10/12/2009 21:48

shiny I've been lucky in some way that that I've had 4 nvd before, but I've also worked in maternity. I've been in theatre at the action end of a section or two and I don't think for any minute its the easy way out. At the end of the day a safe healthy delivery for mum and baby is what we are all wanting and thats regardless of how you achieve that. I would just ignore stupid people and don't let them upset you.

(When I say lucky, believe me my fandango ain't what it used to be, but hey we can't have everything can we)

lilacpink · 10/12/2009 22:13

I'm struggling to post as there's so much to read

Fingers crossed for Alibobins having a smooth labour, healthy baby & posting on here soon to update us all!

Lottie Re. MILs, mine is great most of the time so I can't complain there, but after my first pregnancy I had to end a 17 year old friendship as my friend became very possesive. She was always a bit obsessive, but after I had DD, she wanted to be the 'main' person who I thought about, questioned who I was friends with, wanted to make all the decisions in our friendship, wanted to be as close to DD as me and had the 'poor-me' moans all the time. One day she bought DD clothes and came around wearing similar clothes and said to my DD that she looked just like her, and couldn't live without her. Then she said to me that when DD was older she would visit and stay on her own. Combined with the comments about how she would parent my DD another way (with no experience of children) I'd had enough! I tried to talk to set ground 'rules' (incl. her getting councelling re. obsessive thoughts), then tried to write, nothing worked. It had to be her way, so I ended the friendship and years on I know it was the right decision. If I hadn't ended it, I would still be unsuccessfully trying to keep her happy now. If she'd been a family member it would be the same as I wouldn't want my DD to be exposed to her demanding 'needs'. Having said that, I can appreciate it's a lot harder to break off contact with a family member. Sincerely, good luck to you and your DH in finding a way to resolve this

alibobins · 10/12/2009 22:28

hi ladies all going a bit slow had som abs incase ifection typin on phone sorry if it dont make sence will b helped along in morning ajthough hauving cotractions x x

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 10/12/2009 22:41

Good luck ali hope everything goes well, will check in in the morning for baby news, take care.

Biccy · 10/12/2009 23:44

Just caught up with the last 4 pages or so!

Good luck Ali, very impressed that you are updating MN from the hospital! This is probably not of interest at this moment, but if you are hoping to bf, I would suggest not having any bottle feeding stuff around - it's easy enough to get if you really need it.

Does anyone else itch and twitch in the evenings? Am feeling a bit fed up that by the time I have a chance to have any time to myself my body just starts to itch & twitch and all I can think about is bed. Managed to do chrismas cards tonight, annoying dp with my scratching, and jumping and moaning.

I don't have a hospital bag yet. In fact I don't even yet own most of the stuff that really needs to be in it.... for some reason I just can't quite bring myself to buy newborn nappies and maternity pads etc. I think I am relying on the fact that we live in a big city with 24 hour supermarkets so things can be got very quickly if needs be.... But then I am not sorted for leaving work, not sorted for christmas, not sorted for a new baby, and currently seem to struggle with being sorted with food to eat for the next meal, let alone having a freezer full of meals for after the baby's born. And yet I never seem to stop. What is wrong with me? Why am I so useless and inefficient?

Here is my day today:
8am Got up (dd has been a bit poorly, and we all ended up in one bed last night and actually slept in!)
Did breakfast with dd, then got self dressed and dd dressed.
9.20 left for preschool
9.50 arrived home from preschool drop off
emptied hall in readiness for new fridge freezer delivery, took delivery of said fridge freezer, cleaned loo & bathroom mirror, put load of washing on, cleared up the post from the last week or so, typed up 2 bills for dp
11.50 left for preschool collection
12.15 arrived home, cooked pasta for lunch
12.50 left with dd for gym class
2.45 arrived home again with sleeping dd, put her on sofa and wrote 7 christmas cards
3.30 dd woke up, went up to her room and played with her until
5.15 put music on so dd could dance, then put telly on so I could clean up lunch things and cook her tea
5.45 served her tea, dp arrived home wanting his, got his, all sat together while they ate
6.45 ran bath for dd, then got stuck into unpicking one of our trade accounts to check we weren't being overcharged (while dp allowed dd to stay up a bit too late really)
8.00 went down to write cards in front of The Restaurant
8.30 got called up to read 'a story'
9.30 dd finally asleep after a lot of to and fro; sat down and wrote another 15 cards.
came upstairs to go to bed and spent ages catching up on here.

I just don't get when I am supposed to do proper cleaning, or get organised. If any of you organised types can show me what I'm doing wrong, please help!

Gosh, sorry for the long long post. Feel free to ignore. It helped to type it!

Mama2b5 · 11/12/2009 00:51

my gosh its all go here! just trying to get through the thread to send out best wishes to Alibobin's DD,to then see "water has broken" !!!!!!!!!Prayers to you and your DD- all will be well. Ahhhhh another thread "baby" yeh!
CTOFN- hows the SPD has it settled now?
MRSMB- Baby Thomas is heading home soon i can feel it that his growing from strength to strength! Home for Christmas if all is well!
London- my gosh MIL from hell! get DH to deal with it,dont stress,so dont need it in your well pregnant state! With my MIL she is a god sent specially now my mum has passed! worried that she wants to present at birth just because that was my mums thing and so dont want to replace her with anyone else!
Bethoo- cor.. to have a mum like that wow! The saying is "you can pick friends but not family"

Alibobin - Praying for a quick, painless and all is well birth!

Mama2b5 · 11/12/2009 00:54

Mistletoekisses - great idea to meet up if London based! will def be up for that should be lovely, also would be great for all to post up baby pictures for those that cant make it if wanted! "MN Family - Dec/Jan 09/10"

MissMarjoribanks · 11/12/2009 00:56

Ali - best of luck to you! Hope it all goes as smoothly as possible and that you get some sleep tonight. Looking forward to your birth announcement.

Mistletoe - I will email you tomorrow, I know one of you lot has previously posted that they're moving close to where I am, and I've not had any antenatal classes (NCT ones were booked for this weekend, but clearly no point going, so I've cancelled) so would be great to meet up with some of you.

PIL issues - ugh, sympathies to anyone who has them. My PILs are awful. I'm just glad I have a fantastic relationship with my own family. MIL, PIL and BIL all came to see Thomas tonight, and MIL told me I would have no confidence at all when I got him home. And they have not once asked how I am recovering following labour, though MIL used to ask me every week how much weight I had gained in pregnancy.

Anyway, Thomas update - he could be home in a week or so . He has fed well twice today from the breast and hasn't been given a top up through his tube. He was on for 1/2 an hour this evening. I am learning how to give him his vitamins tomorrow and DH and I are doing the resuscitation techniques at the weekend in preparation for discharge. So real progress made today.

sockmonkey · 11/12/2009 07:41

Oooooh Good Luck ali

Hope all is well.

How exciting!

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 11/12/2009 09:33

Morning, baby news baby news baby news.

I was all excited then, ali hope your ok and snuggling baby bobins as I type.

Not sure how the meeting up would work with everyone scattered all over, maybe we could do separate ones for london manchester etc.. and then one big meet up somewhere in the middle.

I got up for wee in the night and the pain in the bony part of my lady bits, was excruciating couldn't walk for a few mins, anyone else?? I do have spd but it wasn't in the same place as my usual pain and didn't feel like pressure.

I really really hope this pain goes after delivery.

Hope your all good. Friiiiiiiiiiday yah. Oh well back to the sofa, this mat leave is guuuuuuuuuuud.

whensmydayoff · 11/12/2009 09:45

Biccy Unless you stay up for a night shift cleaning I don't see how you could possibly have time.
I noted there wasn't one bit of time for YOU there either.

If I was you, Id have had a snooze on sofa or a bath while DD at pre-school - but that's just me !

Stop beating yourself up. Can DP/DH take DD out this weekend while you catch up a bit. Then make a list of what you need for your bag and make a point of getting to Boots at one point. You'll feel better on Monday if that was done.

As for cooking and freezing before the birth. Yes this thought has crossed my mind too but that's all it has done!
Im exactly the same with shopping/cooking. Totally unorganised.

Im just thinking my Local Marks will do the trick for healthier versions of ready meals for the first few months.

Just have loads of fruit in the house to clear your conscience!

Anyway, good luck this weekend trying to get on your feet and hope you feel bit better by Monday !

alibobins How are things progressing today?
I hope you got some sleep. x
