Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

OP posts:

Oh and pavlov I'm sure I've gone backwards too! Over the weekend there were 4 days when I really thought this might be it. Had a bit of a show, I think. Lots of low down aches and pains. Then since Monday there's been nothing. I feel pretty normal and like labour is way off.

ursigurke · 25/11/2009 09:40

Morning all. Just tried to read through two pages of posts and realised that my last one appeared much later than intended (or I managed to not read a whole page before posting) so it may have looked a bit strange. Hobnob, congratulations! You must be really happy that you finally got your vaginal birth!
katster, I guess it is too late to wish you luck, hopefully you are already cuddeling a lovely baby.
Paula is three weeks today, I can't believe it. She has already changed so much and it is so nice to see her awake but not screaming (well she usually starts after a while)

good luck to everybody who will be in labour today!

BeckyBendyLegs · 25/11/2009 10:21

Laugs I like the sound of your health visitor. Can I take her advice too?

southernbelle77 · 25/11/2009 10:21

Claire I am giving formula at night. I tried expressing but didn't get on very well it found it really painful so gave up! Also, I think it's the fact that the formula fills Leah up more that she sleeps longer. I have had no problems with my supply - I am VERY full in the morning which means a big feed for Leah which works well!! This morning she didn't wake til nearly 8am (I was up from 6 with DD1) and I was so desperate to feed her!! I was worried that giving the formula might mess things up, but so far so good so will keep going!

Sorry you're having a down day Ninja and Pav. I remember feeling like that before and it's not nice. I really hope things happen for you soon. And I hope they can happen around the other halfs plans !

skorpion · 25/11/2009 10:21

The sun is shining here now! Still looks a bit choppy, but nothing like last night. What a wild November we're having.

ninja sorry you're feeling low. Could you choose something from the papmering tips from yesterday to do to cheer yourself up? Or watch a nice movie to take your mind off things?

laugs that's a good tip. All this sleeplessness can't last forever. Can it?

I think I would rather avoid formula topups, as my MW also said it's the supply / demand thing that gets established early on and should not be disrupted if possible. I think it is probably different when you have a big hungry baby to satisfy, though.

We'll just have to see. How many times parents seem to have it all planned out ahead only for the plans to fly out of the window once confronted with a baby that doesn't give a damn about some stupid plan?

claire you're absolutely right - how strange it is to be talking about this? Who'd have thought a year ago...

skorpion · 25/11/2009 10:25

becky I liked what a MW told us at the parentcraft thing in Chippy: they'd much rather see a happy baby and mum in a messy house than a mum on a verge in a spotless one. I'm going with that one. There's not been enough hours in my childfree day so far, I don't expect it to improve once the baby is here...

Laugs · 25/11/2009 10:28

becky she probably didn't expect me to take it so seriously

BeckyBendyLegs · 25/11/2009 10:38

Hmmm. I wonder if I am a mum on the verge in a messy house! At least I will be if I drink two glasses of wine every night

I know people who have successfully breast fed and used top ups in the evening so it can work out fine I think, esp for those hungry babies. I wish I'd tried it with DS1 when he went through a huge growth spurt at 3 weeks (when I gave up BF with him).

helips · 25/11/2009 10:46

Congratulations to the new mummies, hobnob I'm thrilled to hear you got your vbac afterall, well done you!

Good luck katster hope it's all going well and looking forward to hearing an announcement soon!

And best of luck to everyone else too, enjoy your last days of peace before the babies arrive!

skorpion · 25/11/2009 10:55

becky start off with one glass and see how you go

raggie · 25/11/2009 10:56

Woweeee! I popped out yesterday afternoon and it's all gone off! TWO WHOLE pages to scan back...that hasn't happened for a while.

Yay for katster - I really hope she is snuggling a little one right about now!

ANd congratulations hobnob!! Welcome baby Isla!

Sorry to all those others who have been having yet more stop-starts, sigh.

I was doing serious baby-getting-readyness yesterday - so much so that I dreamt about her all night and was sorely disappointed to find this morning that, no, I do not have a baby, just a mahoosive big tummy and sore hips !

So, we got our nappies after a good long chat over a cup of tea with a nappy advisor at her house, which was brill! Gone for lollipop all-in-ones in the end, hope we're not being hopelessly idealistic thinking we can do real nappies, but determined to have a really good go.

And we picked up an Ebay steal - a lovely rocking chair for just a tenner!

Not bad for an afternoon/evening's work. And then to come on here and find good news, as well as another NCT class member popping yesterday. Babies babies everywhere...(can you tell I'm trying to do the 'not going to wish it was me, she'll come when she's ready' reverse-psychology thing ?

Laugs · 25/11/2009 11:59

shh ragggie... I am doing reverse psychology "oh, I only feel about 8 months pregnant" on my baby/ body too. The thing is, I'm starting to believe it...

claired21 · 25/11/2009 12:12

Thanks southern. It's good to know that combo feeding is an option if baby is v hungry or if I need some sleep altho I will try the demand feeding to begin with, as per mw's instructions, and express and try a bottle after about a week, as per the nov ladies advice to make sure baby can take a bottle as well.

My twin brother is having an op on 2nd Dec & just texted to say I better not have baby early next week as he'd be devastated if he had to wait a week before meeting the baby. Think I'd be devastated too. Dinner this evening: fresh pineapple followed by extra hot curry whilst bouncing on ex ball tweaking nipples and maybe some bedroom antics for dessert.
