I got my BFP yesterday, AF not due til Sunday Tested again this morning just to make sure I didn't dream it.

Have been very sick already which is what prompted me to test, also very very tired.

Looking forward to seeing other people on this exciting journey

I know, relaxing is easier to say than do! I'm actually looking forward to morning sickness

vinocollapso · 01/12/2009 07:39

Hi Missus and Pop- how are you both feeling?

Please try and relax, it's not worth making yourself stressed. Morning sickness is not a sign of anything, and it only hits half of pregnancies, and there have been plenty of women who've had it and still sadly miscarried. I know it's easy to say it (and those of us who have had miscarriages are super worried, I know), but just try and take it easy.

I'm now at 6 weeks and some very vague slight car-sick like symptons have started. I'm also feeling very bloated, amd slightly off some foods and smells, but to be honest, I still don't feel pg. I could sleep for England, though!

Take it nice and slow. xxx

Chulita · 01/12/2009 08:41

vino, you and I have exactly the same symptoms! I'm 6+2 and I just feel slightly car-sick, bloated and starting to go off tea I'm finding it so hard to wake up in the mornings, and stay awake through the day...just when DD is deciding that she only needs one nap a day, bad timing as ever!

bouncingblueberries · 01/12/2009 09:05

Big welcome to all the newbies!

missus and popawheelie I still don't feel pregnant either. I have had very few episodes of slight nausea, but to be honest, I don't know if I would have noticed if I wanted symptoms checking every 5 seconds.

This is so different to my last pregnancy, it's driving me nuts. I also did my last CB digital this morning, which was really stupid. I was going to wait til Thursday and be more sure of it saying 3+ but used it this morning instead. And of course it only said 2-3 weeks. I guess I conceived slightly later than I thought I did, well, that's what my rational brain is telling me. I'm not even that tired anymore. I know I'm only 5 weeks pregnant, but it feels like forever already.

So annoyed with myself, really wanted to be chilled and serene during this pregnancy but instead I'm driving myself slowly insane.

Thank god for this thread. It's strangely comforting to know there are other (less insane) women out there with the same symptoms (or rather lack of). Fingers crossed girls! Positive thoughts and all that.

Aussieng · 01/12/2009 10:56

Hey guys - I'd also add that lots and lots of people do not get morning sickness until around week 7/8. And think how many people get through to around 10 weeks without even realising that they are pg.

Having said that I had a day last week where my morning sickness completely disappeared and I was worried to death and very relieved when it came back the next day so I know there is some comfort to be had in feeling sick . The day after that when I could hardly get off the couch because I was so sick I was less pleased about its return and finally yesterday when I again had a clear day I was at the stage where I could just enjoy not feeling ill.

bouncingblueberries · 01/12/2009 12:31

Thanks Aussieng

I know I'm freaking out, but I also know that you're talking sense!

sayanything · 01/12/2009 12:44

Hello everyone.

BFP on Saturday, 28/11, two days before my period was meant to start. (Then another 2 BFPs, on Sunday and today, because I just had to make sure!). Due date is 10/08/10 (nice, no?).

Very excited, but freaking out a bit - I had a chemical pregnancy in July and I'm terrified it will happen again. Deep breaths!

My only symptom so far has been a complete loss of appetite, I'm having to force food down, which is very unlike me. And slightly sore boobs, but no more than usual before my period.

We were planning on going to Africa on safari for Xmas, but we're now minded to cancel - what would you do?

Missus84 · 01/12/2009 13:00

Thanks everyone

I would still go I think sayanything - what is it particularly that you're worried about? It will probably be nice to have a last big holiday as a couple.

sayanything · 01/12/2009 13:31

Missus, I'm mostly worried about food and insect-borne diseases (malaria, sleeping sickness, heavy diarrhoea etc), especially since a part of the trip will involve camping/lodging in the Serengeti. I'm a fairly intrepid traveller and ordinarily I couldn't care less if I got sick, but this time I'm anxious for the bean.

Plus worried that I'll be vomiting throughout and too exhausted for the 4am wake-up calls.

So, not sure really. My doctor sounded very sanguine when I spoke to her on the phone, but she said we should talk about it more when I see her (in two weeks' time) when she can assess my pregnancy.

Sorry for the long post, I'm really in two minds about this.

Missus84 · 01/12/2009 13:55

Rather than cancel completely could you just change your itinerary a bit to skip the camping?

sayanything · 01/12/2009 14:03

We're thinking about that, but if we don't do the safari, then the trip would basically consist of two weeks of lounging in a beach resort in Zanzibar - we could be anywhere in the world, so might as well go to Florida or something. Or Cyprus/Greece (where DH comes from)!

We have travel insurance so we could wait until after my doctor's appointment to decide...

Thanks anyway Missus!

Aussieng · 01/12/2009 14:13

Hi SayAnything and congratulations.

I'd still want to go - what a fab holiday but I know I'd be worried aboout being sickly, overheating and being able to get what I want to eat when I want it. Last night I was feeling starving yet hideously sickly at the same time and the only thing I would contemplate putting in my mouth was fried rice. WHY???? So that would worry me.

Would you need to have any injections?

Chulita · 01/12/2009 14:21

I grew up in Kenya and as long as you're sensible you should be fine. It'd be a shame to miss it! If you travel a lot you'll know what to do anyway, just lots of handwashing and bottled water if you're worried.
I wouldn't have gone with my last pg but then I was throwing up all day every day from 3 weeks so travelling was out of the question!

sayanything · 01/12/2009 14:21

Hi Aussieng and thanks. Congrats to you too!

We went to India last year so I'm up to date with all my injections fortunately. I wouldn't take anti-malaria pills anyway, they're more trouble than they're worth. [still mulling it over...]

Chulita · 01/12/2009 21:26

So, so tired. Had a nap from 1800 til 2020, still tired, now tucked up in bed ready to sleep. With DD I slept when I wanted, now with DD in the outside world I don't know how I'm going to manage. I just feel so heavy and drained...how do you working ladies manage?!

vinocollapso · 02/12/2009 07:23

Chulita - I'm lucky that I have a desk job at the university, so I can just sort of keep my head down. I am, however, still cycling to work, but to be honest, I think it's helping - the endorphins keep me awake...until about 8pm, when I'm done for.

On the travelling debate, I say go for it! Just take it easy and be prepared and you won't have time to be ill - if you are at all!

Has anyone heard from Bigmomma - bit worried about her, and if she's ok??

Bouncingbb - if it weren't for this thread I'd be locked up dribbling by now, seriously. I have to say I'm relaxing more as the pg progresses - I'm hoping it's happy hormones. I'm having an 8 week scan the week after next, which will really put my mind at rest!

Enjoy hump day y'all.

xx

bouncingblueberries · 02/12/2009 08:56

Morning gals

Feeling rather weary this morning. It's pouring with rain, the house is cold and I didn't sleep very well last night. Also, I got on the scales this morning and I put on 2 lbs. Not a hugs amount I know, but it takes me over the weight that I feel comfortable at - knowing I can cleverly hide the lumps and bumps. An extra 2lbs means the lumps and bumps are much easier for all to see! Serves me right for indulging in chocolate this week. Hey ho. Back to the healthy eating I suppose.

Chulita like vino I find that my brisk 20 minute walk to work and back really helps keep my energy levels up. I'm working from home today though, so no dose of fresh air for me this morning.

Off to get my swine flu jab tonight - had already booked it before I got my bfp. Feel a bit nervous about it, but all the research seems to say it's safe in pregnancy - safer than swine flu itself certainly!

Have a good day ladies.

bouncingblueberries · 02/12/2009 08:56

Oh, yes, Bigmomma please let us know how you are. Fingers crossed for you.

BunnyBaby · 02/12/2009 09:56

Morning all, feeling tired and queasy from time to time. Was also curled up on couch from 7 pm and tucked up in bed by 9.30pm, woul have been earlier but waiting for dh to cone home. We're also due to move before Christmas, thank goodness I started to pack the junk when we put house on Market. Luckily mat wardrobe smaller than normal one so easy to pack skinny clothes. Away as bloated already! I'm 2 lbs heavier too but it feels like water. Have a good day! Xxx

BigMomma3 · 02/12/2009 11:11

Vino & BB - thanks for thinking of me! I am fine although definitely starting to feel queasy. Could only eat rice and peas last night!

I have my 2nd scan on Friday at 9.45 and am bricking it til then (will be around 6 and a half weeks) to see if I have one or two, or one and an ectopic or cysts.

Funnily enough the stomach pains have eased but I now have back pain which I am sure is not usual in pregnancy this early, so am worried about that as well .

Ahh well, am keeping positive and have been looking for twin prams on the internet , found a gorgeous one that I love (they also have the same in single prams so hopefully will not be disappointed).

vinocollapso · 02/12/2009 12:47

I'm also notcing that my clothes are tighter, but I think it's because I'm a bit bloked up. Ew!

Hurrah, Bigmomma - glad to hear you're ok. I've had a bit of back pain, too, I think it's just everything softening up. Please let us know how it goes on Friday, keeping fingers and toes crossed for you.

Bunny - how's the move going? We're also in the process of moving, though haben't exchanged yet, but hoping to complete around the 19/12. Yikes.

xx

sayanything · 02/12/2009 12:48

Chulita, sorry, I somehow missed your post yesterday - thanks for the advice. I'm defo leaning towards going!

BigMomma best of luck and deep breaths until Friday.

Dibbydab · 02/12/2009 13:00

Good luck on Friday Bigmomma, think positive.

Has anyone had any thoughts about when they are going to start letting close family know the good news? So far only myself (obv!), DH and sister know. I told sis because we work together and I wanted someone in the office to know in case something happened at work, and I don't want my boss to know yet - that's going to open a whole other can of worms I can do without at the moment...

Chulita I work full time, but don't have any other children to cope with. I do get pretty tired by about 3pm, but I finish at 5pm, so I just try and get early nights. I have tried to be super organised (making packed lunches/getting clothes ready/showering and washing hair) in the evenings, so I can lie in as long as possible in the mornings.

Does anyone else feel like they are wishing their time away, just wanting the first few months to be over so they feel "safer"?

Aussieng · 02/12/2009 13:24

Hi BigMomma glad you're keeping positive. I've also had some back pain - seems to be worse when I'm feeling most bloated and constipated so presumably all connected.

Dibby - I'm telling my mum tomorrow since I figured that if anything goes wrong she will be the one I want to talk to (other than DH). Other than that I have one good friend who I will tell at the weekend. Work is the biggest problem. I don't want to say anything until after my dating scan in the New Year but one of my colleagues is 17 weeks pregnant and people keep approaching me about covering her clients when she goes and I will be really unpopular if my name actually gets put forward to any and then I also say "actally guys - I'm going on maternity leave too"

I agree - I'd quite like the next 6 weeks to be over - getting to the bit where you start to glow and your hair gets all thick and glossy would be good too
