I got my BFP yesterday, AF not due til Sunday Tested again this morning just to make sure I didn't dream it.

Have been very sick already which is what prompted me to test, also very very tired.

Looking forward to seeing other people on this exciting journey

I have told all my friends that i see regularly, my mum, my sister, my dad and my grandma so basically family and close friends.

We haven't made it 'public' yet (DH's work, all friends etc) because it doesn't affect them iyswim? We haven't told FIL yet either, though DH thought he would on christmas day(there are a few issues with FIL atm)

I do agree with you Liahgen, why suffer in silence! I also feel if something went wrong i would rather my close friends and family knew rather than just thinking i was miserable and asking insensitive questions.

ElusiveMoose · 21/12/2009 17:41

We're telling all immediate family - my family already, my ILs at Christmas. Mainly because I wouldn't be able to hide it for a week over Christmas (no gin and no stilton - dead giveaway). Though a very pleasant side effect is that I now won't be allowed to lift a finger while I'm away, much to the irritation of my DH .

SantaIsMyLoveSlave · 21/12/2009 18:41

I think I'm out (is this the shortest stay ever on an AN thread?) -- tested negative this afternoon on the other test in the pack so unless it's a duff test I expect it will all be over in the next couple of days. Best of luck to the rest of you!

girlsyearapart · 21/12/2009 19:29

Well... Someone put me back on the list!

There is a baby there all is fine heart beating all in right place and can't see any reason for the bleeding.

And I am in fact 7 weeks 3 days so I don't know what my due date is now??

I agree Liaghen I was totally shocked by how upset I was to think the baby was gone so now we have told everyone as will need their support if it goes wrong again.

Allthe8s · 21/12/2009 19:58

Fantastic news girlsyearapart !!

santaschristmascakeywakey · 21/12/2009 20:08

Sorry to read your posts stuffed and santasis

Very glad to read yours girlsyearsapart

Take care all of you, and hello to everyone else who has joined.

allstarsprincess · 21/12/2009 20:21

Sorry stuffed and Santasis.

Girlsyearsapart - nice to welcome you back.

I have only told 3 people so far. I agree that we will need their support either way but as we will not know if things are OK until our 13 week scan there is no point us telling them yet and having them worry with us. DH and I are excited though. I have another scan on Thursday and should get some indication then if things are on track.

Two things about me:

  1. I am a breastfeeding counsellor
  2. I have an allotment
possiblenewmum · 21/12/2009 20:25

Hello

Can i join the thread please? I'm 7 weeks pg and due 9th august like "nichynoo". Getting a bit worried that not experiencing many symptoms... I had "period pains" for most of the 3rd and 4th week. Have been feeling slightly tireder than normal but that could be down to the fact i've tried to stop drinking caffeine after the BFP (except my morning cup of tea which i can't survive without!) only felt slightly quesy once or twice but haven't been sick yet. Bit worried i should be feeling more. DH and I haven't told anyone yet, so a bit devoid of advice. Will tell respective parents over xmas though. Bit of a pain getting through the xmas do at work, non-alcoholic beer helped but still didn't stop the speculation the next day as to why i left so early!!

bouncingblueberries · 21/12/2009 20:31

Hi girls, just popping in to give a cheery wave. I haven't had a chance to post til now but I have been following everyone as much as possible - can't go on hols and not keep in touch!

Sorry to hear there's been some more bad news on this thread

well, I'm thoroughly enjoying being spoilt rotten by both in-laws and parents - copious amounts of sympathy for nausea and exhaustion. So I'm wallowing in it! Mil even sent a pack of gingernuts through with fil when he collected us from the airport - bless.

8 weeks today but seriously doubting how much longer I'll be able to hide it for. My boobs and stomach are huge! Went for a swim today and just looked like a beached whale in my swimming cossie, then lovely slim but heavily pregnant woman came into the pool and I turned green with envy! I'm a size 14 but usually feel comfortable with how I look - I went jogging regularly, walked lots and knew how to dress for my shape. But now, at only 8 weeks I look like such a walrus! Anyone else feel like they've ballooned?

2 things about me:

  • I'm a magpie - if it sparkles or twinkles I love it!
  • I love karaoke

Fantastic news girlsyearsapart
hello And congrats to everyone else who has joined!

possiblenewmum · 21/12/2009 20:36

bouncingblueberries - i know what you mean! I'm also normally a size 14 but i feel enourmous at the moment - really bloated. Think i'll be in maternity clothes before the 12 weeks is up at this rate - my jeans are already tight and the muffin top seems to be getting worse! I was hoping for some MS to loose a bit of what i seem to already have put on! but i may live to regret that?!

NichyNoo · 21/12/2009 20:49

Great news girlsyearsapart!!!! possiblenewmum - welcome to the symptom-less club! You sound exactly like me. I feel a bit sicky and tired in the evenings but not enough to put me off my food or vomit. Boobs have been really sore the past few days but not as bad today...cue worrying!

Have been really stressed today as we're due to take Eurotunnel to the UK for xmas on Wednesday morning then drive up north but not sure if we'll make it or if we'll face the prospect of sleeping in the car in some snowed-in motorway

Won't be able to check mumsnet for the fortnight I'm away. I really hope we all return from xmas hols and are still all here together in a fortnight

bigmuther65 · 21/12/2009 21:00

Wow Girlsyearapart thats great news, what a roller coaster of emotions you must be going through.
Talking about emotions went to my anti natal appointment today, talking to the midwife and cried like a baby WTF is that about.Think it just all hit me the reality im having a baby

PoppyIsApain · 21/12/2009 21:08

Sorry to hear that santais
Fantastic new girlsayearapart, im so very pleased for you.

I have told my family, not my sister as we are not getting on great and she is keeping so many secrets from me, so im being childish on that one.
My dh doesnt want to tell his family till the 12 week scan I work for them so dont see that working! I want to tell them in the new year when it has been confirmed by the doc/midwife IYKWIM

girlsyearapart · 22/12/2009 07:13

A roller coaster is exactly what it was!

One of the worst things about this was the fact that I was still feeling pregnant. Boobs gone huge and painful, knackered (nothing new there though) and quite sicky.

I am reassured by the fact that I'm nearer 8 weeks than 5 as I thought though as jeans already having issuues fastening..

With dd1 I didn't show until about 5 months but with dd2 there was a bump t 9 weeks.

Can anyone enlighten me on my new due date? today I'm 7 wks 4 days

NichyNoo · 22/12/2009 08:52

Hey girlsyearapart my due date is 9th Aug and I am 7+3 today so I guess that would make your due date 8th Aug. Mine hasn't been confirmed by scan yet though - I'm just going on what the doctor told me when I told her when my last AF was.

mrsZaC · 22/12/2009 09:15

congratulations girlsyearapart really chuffed for you

sorry to hear about stuffed and santasis

possiblenewmum I know how you feel, i'm only 4 weeks, having a few period like pains and slightly sore boobs but other than that not much else apart from tiredness. Everytime I get a period like pain I worry but trying not to.

Off to the doctors this morning, wish me luck!

Allthe8s · 22/12/2009 09:29

girlsyearapart must be a great feeling that you are further along than you first though!

mrsZac we are the same date and I know what you mean about the worrying.....I do feel quite queasy this morning though, fairy liquid smell turned my stomach. I am also knackered but then think I am always tired!! Good luck for the Drs, I am going 2morro.

Hope everyone has a good day and be careful in the ice/snow x

girlsyearapart · 22/12/2009 09:34

thanks yes i worked it out for aug 8th too. my nephews 5th birthday!

have doctor at 230

sorry about typing have both dds on my lap

ElusiveMoose · 22/12/2009 09:40

Girlsyearapart, I'm so pleased for you . I'm 7+3 today, and my due date is apparently around 7 August, so I guess yours must be similar.

Santais, so sorry to hear your bad news .

I'm quite relieved to hear how many of you are already looking a bit pregnant second time round - because I'm feeling HUGE! Just about to go and pack for my week away at Christmas, and really don't know what clothes to take - once baby combines with too much roast goose I'm not going to be able to get into anything!!! Plus my bras are all way too tight already. In fact, I've begun to have a mild panic that maybe I'm having twins - but just trying not to even think about that as a possibility at the moment (jokingly mentioned it to DH this morning and he went green...).

Crazycatlady · 22/12/2009 09:47

girlsyearapart I can't believe it! Wonderful to see you back

I'm just catching up on the thread quickly, got a busy day ahead wrapping presents while trying to keep DD occupied. We have 2 and a half flights of stairs in our house and this week she has decided it's the most fun in the world to go up and down them repeatedly, really fast . DH is fitting stair gates right now. The cats are not impressed.

Santais and stuffed I'm so sorry you're going through this, thinking of you xx

booreeve · 22/12/2009 10:55

Hi
Can I join too - got BFP this weekend, and in theory should be due 28th August! Already have DS 2.6.....best Christmas present ever

liahgenispreggerswithnumber6 · 22/12/2009 11:03

girls absolutely fantastic news, so very pleased for you. Especially almost 8 wks, You must be sooo relieved.

stats of anything going wrong are drastically reduced once a hearbeat is visible on a scan, (can't remember he ref for that)

sntais so sorry to hear your news.

Am getting a bit worried about lack of symptoms but trying not to obsess, with my boys I tend to vomit less but still have the nausea so maybe it's a clue?

Allthe8s · 22/12/2009 11:04
