Thank you everyone for your lovely messages
Ooh feel a bit shakey! Contractions are every 6 minutes and last between 30 and 45 seconds and I definately have to close my eyes and breathe through them. Had a definate show now as well. Midwife said just keep active, have a bath, etc. and that yes, I should ring my dp (wasn't sure when to tell him as he's in work and I know these things can be very on/off!)
I hope this keeps going as it sounds so frustrating for all you poor ladies where it keeps stopping!!
Ursi, sounds like yours are more frequent I think you will make it to the finish line first! How are you feeling? I'm excited and also a bit terrified! x

ErikaMaye · 03/11/2009 12:24

Thanks you lovely bunch. Why are you not warned how scary pregnancy is before hand?! I'd have been using at least 10 condoms if that had been on the box

Preggo sounds good!! Eek another baby!!

Is it ironic that regardless of the fact this is an antenatal thread I still am getting excited at the mention of babies arriving?!

Trikken · 03/11/2009 12:29

preggo sounds good! dont leave it too late to phone dh, even if it did turn out to be false labour (though it doesnt sound like it is) it might be better to have him with you sooner rather than later.

ursigurke · 03/11/2009 12:41

preggo, I might be more frequent but not quite regular. sometimes 5min sometimes less than 3, and the contractions last sometimes hardly 30sec, sometimes over 40. and they are still quite managable. So I wonder if I am still very far away just a bit oversensitive. On the other hand I would slightly prefer to be in the birth centre on time instead of having the baby here

southernbelle77 · 03/11/2009 12:54

Oooh things are constantly happening when I manage to get on now! It's so exciting.

Congratulations Koumak on the arrival of Olivia. I hope all is going well.

Preggo and Ursi, hope things continue to go well for you guys and more babies are the way soon )

I've been having really painful pains! Last night I could hear my pelvis 'crunching' with every BH/contraction and it was almost unbareable! It went on for about an hour and a half and I was hoping things were starting, but it then stopped again! Seeing the new consultant tomorrow so will be interesting to see what happens after that! This baby needs to make an appearance soon, it literally feels like I'm falling apart!

Laugs · 03/11/2009 12:54

I'm really excited. It sounds like you're both getting there. Every labour is different, so it's impossible to predict how long you'll be at this stage. Ursi if you want to you can always go into the birthing centre for them to check how far along you are. The worst they can do is send you home again. Preggo is DP on his way home?

PreggoK8 · 03/11/2009 13:07

DP is now home and slightly in shock I think
Since bouncing on my ball and moving about a bit more, the contractions seem to be coming more frequently and not as strong/long as before, sounds like you maybe ursi?
I think I'm going to sign off now as it's getting a bit interesting anyway.
Good luck to you ursi, lets hope we both have some good news soon.
Good luck with everyone else too. xxx

ErikaMaye · 03/11/2009 13:08

Ohh good luck Preggo! Will be thinking of you, keep us updated when you can

Laugs · 03/11/2009 13:09

sleepless I think it's supposed to help engagement(?) if you get on your hands and knees or sit on your ball, so that your pelvis widens. But then, with 2nd+ pregnancy, apparently it doesn't always happen until you're in labour.

Have a MW appointment today so I'm hoping she'll tell me I'm engaged. I feel like it changes all the time though.

Is anyone else planning to go to a bonfire night on Thursday? I wonder what the babies will think of fireworks?

HomeintheSun · 03/11/2009 13:11

Just a quick note to say congratulations to everyone who has popped already and to say I gave birth to a little girl at 5.28 yesterday morning,7lb 7oz, she's called Kyla Nicole

Trikken · 03/11/2009 13:13

congratulations Homeinthesun!!! woo, sorry getting over-excited here, so many lovely babies being born or imminantly arriving, unfortunately not me yet, but my time will come.

southernbelle77 · 03/11/2009 13:14

Congratulations Homeinthesun! It's so exciting all these babies coming along now

tigger32 · 03/11/2009 13:15

Congratulations homeinthesun it really is all go on here this week! I hope you are both doing well. Another lovely name too!

ErikaMaye · 03/11/2009 13:20

Homeinthesun congtratulations, that's fantastic news Lovely name, hope you're both doing well.

Laugs · 03/11/2009 13:20

Hooray! Huge congratulations Homeinthesun and welcome to Kyla! All the girls are arriving now. My DD is a 2nd Nov baby too, so we'll have to compare in years to come if they are similar .

claired21 · 03/11/2009 13:29

Ooo congratulations Homeinthesun!! Have never heard the name Kyla before but I like it, it's very pretty! Hope all is going well xx

hobnob57 · 03/11/2009 13:57

Well done homeinthesun and good luck to ursi and preggo. The full moon is definitely doing its stuff.

But not here methinks.

Baby was doing weird stuff yesterday and was very uncomfortable and I've totally lost track of where it is now - I need to wait for some hiccups to work it out! My tailbone was agony last night and its head was definitely wedged high up in the RHS of my pelvis. I slept on my left all night and it was STILL there this morning! How does it defy gravity?!

Still a bit grumpy today. I remember this from last time - I was quite chilled and blissed out a lot of the pg and then got really fed up with the baby for not behaving in the last weeks.

After ANOTHER months' worth of rain on Sunday it looks like it might have finally stopped here. You'd never know the east coast was meant to have an arid climate . Nope, spoke too soon - just looked at the rain radar. I should look into buying a canoe.

helips · 03/11/2009 14:03

Massive congrats to koumack and homeinthesun , two more girls, yay! Beautiful names too, well done ladies, hope you had lovely easy births and can now enjoy the babymoon! We are going to need an Antenatal thread soon at this rate...

All is well here, Amelia is feeding really well, about every 3 hours or so, no sore nips yet! However, both dh and I have stinking colds, how unfair is that when you've just given birth?

With regards to lady garden bits, I trimmed a few days before I went into labour and don't think I did a particularly good job but once I was in labour I could not care a less. More worrying was everyone getting a good look at my piles and am sure that took the focus a way from a few pubes! Oooh, midwife here, better go, will catch up later...

longwayaway · 03/11/2009 14:28

Congrats homeinthesun and continued good labor vibes to ursi and PreggoK8!!

Just did a massively stupid thing and posted to FB about the "safe arrival of" SIL. And everyone thought I was announcing the birth of the baby. Didn't realize what I'd done until I got a call from our neighbor asking if he'd understood correctly. Had to put out a fire there. My own stupid fault

LifeOfKate · 03/11/2009 14:35

I've only been gone a day, and it has all moved on again!!!

Congratulations Koumack and Homeinthesun!!

This is a little scary, people have started to say to me and DH that it could be any day now, and I am still convinced that it will probably be in another month Which is aaaages away

Had an appointment with mw yesterday, baby is head down (midwife at 34 week scan refused to check!!!) and back to the front, which is a bloody miracle considering the amount of time I spend reclining

Got my leaving do from work this evening (I finished on Friday, but there was someone on holiday who I really wanted to come, plus I thought I might be more up for partying if I had had a chance for a nap in the day ), so quite excited about that
I'm actually quite sad about leaving work (going to do the Sahm thing for a few years), it's very strange!

LifeOfKate · 03/11/2009 14:36

Oops, didn't mean 34 week scan, meant 34 week appointment...

scarlotti · 03/11/2009 14:40

Congratulations Homeinthesun

Sounds like usi and preggo are well on the way - keep focussed ladies!

Tamlin · 03/11/2009 14:58

Trikken, do they expect you to twitter your progress?!

Another baby girl now! This thread is certainly getting more exciting.

Laugs, I know that I sound as if I must be barking, but I am actually letting DH go to Texas (and it IS my call). It's a really good career opportunity for him. I think that if I plan things carefully, it shouldn't be too bad - I can't lift DS into his highchair, so we'll be picnicking on the floor, for example! I'm also going to get in disposable plates and cups so I won't have to worry about dishes, and hit up the Waitrose ready-made section for stuff which DS and I can eat without cooking.

My sleep is certainly going to suffer though! I've been giving DH bottles of expressed milk so he can do the odd night shift with Arthur - last night, he took him from 9 pm until 3 am while I slept uninterrupted.

raggie · 03/11/2009 15:16

Tamlin lovely to be hearing from you. And glad to hear that DH is doing his bit with the expressed milk. The breastfeeding lady and other mums at my NCT class last weekend looked shocked when I said I (and DH) hoped to be doing that from early on too. They said things like, 'well, 6 weeks to get bfing established is the norm' but I am inclined to believe you ladies more - and if it's going well with you guys already, I am pleased to hear that!

Also loving your attitude to the Texas trip - you can do it! One of DH's coursemates said the other day - 'Your wife must be very patient, I think if my partner started a PhD when I was pregnant I'd be angry!' but I see it the other way round too - about to give birth at a really stressful time in his life... that's why he has his fingers crossed we will go waaaay overdue into December when his term has ended!

Congratulations homeinthesun!

Laugs and erika - I am so forgetting words all the time too - really boring ordinary ones like when I asked DH to pass me the............er,..........thingy........you know! .......(pointing like mad)...........grrrrr.......... .........the......thingy.........

......................HAIRDRIER! That's it...!

BeckyBendyLegs · 03/11/2009 15:28
