Thanks SmileyCat... this is what my husband wrote.....

Basically you are low risk in the bracket of 1-150. Funnily enough the wording is wrong, you are offered the test below 1-149 or not when 151 or above so we are technically in no-mans land!
This is a better score than with DD (146) without the blood test. You are 3.5 years older and through the 40 bracket with a higher BMI. Personally I think this is a pretty good result and I don't want the intrusive tests to be honest.
We can consider a private scan say at 16-18 weeks assuming that other physical factors can be determined at that point otherwise I think it's a decent result.
Put it this way if it was 151 they probably wouldn't have called you and the whole testing isn't 100% accurate anyway and probably errs on the conservative when calculating the chances.

In short I'm not worried.

Gray

C1NDY · 08/10/2009 09:02

I am feeling a lot calmer so am just going to wait and see for my second scan.

Huge congrats spats that is lovely and yes Adam suit him! our honorary boy. Hope is well now and you are getting into the spin of things.

cindy i feel for you honey, and it is confusing all the cut off points for the tests as like you say 1 more and you would be low risk. Take care and let us know how things progress.

nelix2000 · 12/10/2009 14:24

is it usual for one so small to feed every 2 hours!!! i forgot how frequently they feed, i am chained to the chair!! cindy what a worry but i am sure you will be fine. may be bit late but i went to fetal medicine centre in london as does more markers than my local dgh and my odds went up dramatically so i spent less time in my pregnancy worying about it. actually when i then read some stories about how loving children with downs syndrome are i felt guilty for having obsessed so much. hope you are doing ok. wnanbe aNYTHING YET?? X

smileycat · 13/10/2009 18:23

Welcome to the world baby Adam and well done spats and yes even at 5 weeks old my little one is still pretty much every 2 hours although we got a very rare 6 hours the other night never yet been repeated sad to say, by boobs didn't know what to make of it and nearly exploded

funtimewincies · 14/10/2009 20:18

Sorry that I'm a bit late with my congratulations but welcome to Adam !

Yup, it's completely natural for them to be feeding every 2 hours (despite my mother trying to convince me otherwise), especially if you think how tiny their tummies still are.

C1NDY · 15/10/2009 09:39

WanabeMum Any news?

spats · 15/10/2009 13:37

2 hours during day mainly but had a 4 hour and 3 hour sleep last night good boy!!!

C1NDY · 15/10/2009 14:49

Spats it will settledown. You must be tired, oh how the early days are coming back to me now... I have a DD3 and I am already wondering how I am going to spread myself when my bundle arrives.

I guess no news is good news... I think WanabeMum is a 'Mum'

C1NDY · 20/10/2009 14:21

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well. I am still feeling not good... when do I start to bloom! I will be starting week 16 tomorrow and can't believe how time has flown.

Looks like I will be the only one left posting on this site which is kind of good as I will get more work done!

Hope your all well
Cindy

Hi C1ndy sorry your not feeling so great at the mo I'm sure it will settle down soon and you will enjoy being pregnant. Once your bump starts to show things will change I guess its like a switch over in your head because people can actually see that you are pg it makes you feel better about it x

spats · 22/10/2009 15:44

cindy, i never bloomed felt sick all the way through, the end product is worth it, hang in there. has everyone left this link? where have they gone?

C1NDY · 27/10/2009 12:58

Spats I think I am having a boy, as all the women I know who have felt sick all the way through had boys. I don't really mind but already have a DD3 so a boy would be lovely to even up the household.

I have joined another thread as this one has gone so quiet but will pop in everyday just so that I get all the news... especially as we have heard nowt from Wanabemum... want to know if she had a boy or a girl...

Funtime Not long for you to go now, any stirrings going on?

Wasabi You will be next in the line but we have a couple of months till we start counting down. Goush you are going to be my marker.. once you've had your baby I will be on countdown to the 2nd April let it roll on!!

funtimewincies · 29/10/2009 19:48

I think that I'm growing a mole rather than a baby C1NDY ! The burrowing and banging around in my groin is really uncomfortable and I'm convinced that I'm going to be earlier than my due date.

Having said that, I could just be trying to convince myself because I really don't want to go over again this time.

Baby is fine for dates and stuff (had a hospital appointment and scan last week) but I've shown up Strep B during this pg so it's antibiotics during labour. I can't have penicillin which complicates things a little and makes me a little bit anxious as it's something else I have to remember in labour; as I'd be silly to rely on people reading my notes properly!

How are you feeling at the mo?

C1NDY · 30/10/2009 14:55

Funtime The last couple of months that I can remember with DD who is now aged 3.. were very hard going and we had a lovely summer. So I was hot, fat and had hobbit feet! and couldn't wait for her to come out of me. I am really happy that the baby is fine for dates etc... believe me your time will come soon enough it just seems its going slowly... but when the little bundle arrives you will forget the groin pain! and you will want another one in a years time!!

I am not sure what Strep B... can't you get your DP to ensure that they don't give you penicillin, that what they are there for... give them the instructions and then you can concentrate on your labour. Can you have an epidural?

I am actually feeling a little better today, am now going in to my 17th week. I am showing and am in maternity clothes but still fit in some of my size 16 tops, so not all bad. Can't wait till Dec comes and goes and then January will be count down.

I think it could be my age but I wish I was giving birth tomorrow... I know I am going to worry about this pg right through it and will only be happy when I have my little bundle in my arms. My second scan is booked for 27 November so once that hurdle is over and done with, hopefully I can relax a little.

Still feeling tired but they say that could be, because of my age.

I am missing having a glass of red wine or two! but am staying teetotal in this pregnancy. My DH is part of a club so we get a box of wine every 3 months. I counted the red wine bottles - for once all the holes of the rack were filled... 16 bottles and more in a box. Just goes to show how much I must of been consuming.

Home time soon! going to a Halloween party with DD tomorrow, first one I am dressing as a pumpkin as my DD thinks its better than a witch, well I do have a bump which will make my fancy dressup perfect. DD is going as a cat, her outfit is much cuter and better than mine

May you all have a wonderful weekend.

Love
Cindy

funtimewincies · 30/10/2009 19:28

You're not missing much. I treated myself to a small glass of wine last night and paid for it with a long night of heartburn .

Luckily, I think that this will be my last pg. Dh and I have decided that 2 is enough, with all the mcs, but accidents do happen I suppose .

Enjoy the party. We've already had kids around which I just don't get. It's half term and Halloween falls on a weekend. Why are they all coming around tonight, especially as I don't get sweets in until the day otherwise I scoff them all!

SparkyMalarky · 03/11/2009 14:01

Popping in to say hi ladies... i haven't forgotten you all, but have had a very hectic few months with lots of family stuff to deal with, holidays, school apps and now that DD is almost 6 months old we're in the middle of weaning!

but I have been lurking a bit.....will you have me back?

C1NDY · 04/11/2009 19:07

Sparky of course we will have you back. The more the merrier! 6 months, goush time has flown by.

Funtime this will be my last one too, two is enough for my a DH.

Had a wonderful Halloween party at a friends but got a cold and mild case of flu. I have been not been in work for a while and of course there is nothing I can take being pregnant. I am now deciding to take the Swine Flu vaccine the Celvplan (I think it is spelt that way) as I am worried that if the common cold can knock me for six what will the Swine Flu do if I every got it! Has anyone got any thoughts on this?
