Pezzina · 12/09/2009 18:01

Well done Nelix! Thanks for starting off new thread. How's it going with you and your baby?

Still nothing happening for me. I'm booked in for an induction on Thursday. The m/w came over this morning and gave me a sweep and I really hope that starts the ball rolling - really don't fancy being induced.

Hope everyone else is doing well and having a good weekend.

xx

nelix2000 · 13/09/2009 10:00

omg pezz how exciting for you!!!! hope the sweep works for you! mine did both times with my two lol!I had 2 excellent midwives who did it properly and obviously everything else was ready!

Phoebe is great, almost 4 months now, where does the time go!!!!! is scares me!

Cannot wait for birth stories!!! I am away for a week but will have wifi access so will be checking back when I can......good luck to you and I wish you a speedy and safe labour! x

Thanks Nelix I've had a fair bit of cramping since I had the sweep and lots of BH. Am trying to keep active and upright today to encourage things along.

I can't believe Phoebe is four months old already! The time has flown by.

Hope you have a good week away - whatever happens I should have my baby by next weekend!

C1NDY · 14/09/2009 11:32

Hi All,

Thanks Nelix for starting the threading. I was hoping that we had a couple more posts left but then I posted and realised I had taken the last one! must be being pg is making me lose my marbles!!

Pezzina OMG it is exciting... the time has flown.... hopefully by the end of the week you will have your little one in your arms.

Its going to get quite on here...

I am a little apprehensive today... am at week 10 and am only have tiny bit of nausea.. but my boobs are not as pointing as they were so I am thinking perhaps baby is no longer there? silly really but I am thinking the worst. Hope boobies start hurting again.

I used the droppler this morning and could not hear anything so perhaps I am adding to my worry. How do you know if you are hearing the babies heart beat and not yours?? where is the best place to place the droppler?

nelix2000 · 14/09/2009 11:37

Hi cindy!....its a bit early to find a heartbeat on yourself. You will pick up the placenta no problem! differnece is a babies hearbeat is about double the pace of yours at 150bpm so you will know by its speed. Dont worry yourself! and 10 weeks baby is still well low in your uterus, so chances of hearing it are slim anyhoo unless u have a super duper doppler!

OP posts:
wasabipeanut · 14/09/2009 15:06

C1ndy I agree with Nelix that 10 weeks is mega early to pick up a heartbeat. My midwife managed to get one at 11 weeks but that's because she has been a midwife for about 30 years and also I was measuring nearly a week ahead of my dates. She warned me that she might not be able to get one and not to panic if she couldn't. Hang on in there. Is a private scan an option? They aren't cheap admittedly but we had one at 7 and 10 weeks as I was worried sick and they did help to reassure me

Pezzina Hope the sweep does the business. Best of luck - not long to wait now!

smileycat · 14/09/2009 17:56

Any news today Pezz
I had a sweep on the Weds before my baby was born and she said I was 2cm dilated. I got lots of periody cramps for 3 days after, she then did it again on the Sat and said that I was between 2 to 3cm and the cervix had thinned out alot. Think thats what the periody cramps are, the cervix thinning. Then it all kicked off properly Sunday morning
Hope it all happens a little more quickly for you Pezz and you don't have to have the induction, on the upside with all the period cramps I had for 3 days it did a lot of work and when I finally went in to labour on the Sunday morning she was born 4 hours later xx

spats · 14/09/2009 19:11

my wireless internet been down for past 3 days so not been able to get on. DUE DATE IS TOMMORROW!!! eekk. Smiley i have been having period like pains but was the kind that you think do i need a number 2 or are they cramps. Had some Fri afternoon. None sat, some yeasterday afternoon and again today. Is that maybe what they are, the cervix softening. Hope so. Just getting a bit scared now as you never really know what will happen even though this is my 3rd. Good luck Pezz if it comes soon. The thought of a sweep makes my tummy turn so i think i will decline it and keep the baby in. Is it painful? It sounds it.
Can't believe Phoebe is 4 months. Time does fly doesn't it. Cindy, i know how worrying that time is before the 12 weeks is up. THinknig of you and the doppler isn't very good that early so dont panic. x

Pezzina · 15/09/2009 13:11

Hi guys

No baby yet I'm having another sweep tonight. When I had the first one I was 1cm dilated but the m/w said I was 'stretchy' which was a good sign. So I hope when she does it tonight there will have been some progress. Really don't fancy the induction.

Spats - the sweep didn't hurt, it was a little uncomfortable but that was all. Lets hope your baby behaves itself and comes on time.

Cindy try not to worry about not hearing a heartbeat with the doppler - I didn't pick one up until I was over 12 weeks along. Remember you have seen your baby with a heartbeat and that is a very promising thing. Just hang in there for another week or so. Re. the nausea, its natural for it to be getting a little better now as you're nearly at the 12 week stage.

C1NDY · 15/09/2009 18:07

Thanks all for your reassuring words. I have stopped doing the doppler and am just waiting for my appointment with the midwife so that we can book the 12 week scan which is only a couple of weeks away. I am trying not to worry too much, whatever will be will be!

Spats and Pezzina Good luck, looks like we will have two new borns by the time the week is up.

Cindy

funtimewincies · 15/09/2009 20:20

Oooh good luck Spats and Pezzina - watching this space for news !

I'm 30 weeks now and sorry that I've not been around much. I have been keeping an eye on you all, although I was staggered to hear that Phoebe is already 4 months old .

I've got a scan on Thursday to check on the little one, nothing scary, just a cautious consultant who is taking my pg history seriously. The little whatnot (baby, not consultant) was breach at 28 weeks, so I'm hoping that it might think of shifting for the scan. Blood pressure has also been low, so I'm still doing some fabulous Jane-Austin-eque swooning

Apart from that I'm pootling along. We're having a 2nd bash at potty training and it's going about as well as the 1st .

C1NDY - step away from the doppler! My MW wouldn't even try to find a heartbeat usiong one until 16 weeks as she knew what it would do to me!

spats · 16/09/2009 14:01

Hi all, nothing yet. Did have period pains for about 2 hours last night so thought maybe this was it but alas nothing occured. Just waiting. Got midwife tommorrow so will go through options. Got a bit panicked last night when i thought it was going to happen and thought what if baby not OK, what if labour horrendous, even though its my 3rd you never know what complications will occur.

Good luck Pezz if you get induced tom. I was induced with 2nd and its not too bad x

C1NDY · 17/09/2009 10:25

Pezz and Spats how are you both holding up?

spats · 17/09/2009 12:03

Just seen midwife and my hospital doens't induce until 12 days so am booked in for sun week and at the stupid time of 8.30pm which means i will be in labour during the night whichi am not happy about. Am feeling annoyed today after hearing that. Was offered a sweep but it really turns my stomach so declined it. I am going to have a miserable day today i can tell x

smileycat · 17/09/2009 13:08

Spats don't worry too much about the sweep its only really what they do when they examine you anyway to see how far you have dilated once you are in labour, the only difference is, is that they run a finger or two around the inside of the cervix to try and get your hormones to kick in and start labour on its own, when you are actually in labour they examine you a couple of times to see how far on you are and its the same procedure

Good luck for you today Pezz if this is the day that you are being induced, just think you will have you little bundle in your arms by the end of today
Also good luck to you Spats I hope it all kicks of naturally for you soon, this waiting is very hard especially when your body keeps gearing you up and then stopping, but having periody cramps sounds like you are on your way

C1NDY · 18/09/2009 08:42

spats · 19/09/2009 15:59

again still here now 4 days overdue. getting bit bored of it now.

C1NDY · 21/09/2009 09:33

Its Monday, Lets hope that Pezzina and Spats have had their babies!

Pezzina · 21/09/2009 14:54

Hi everyone! Yes, I've had my baby - hoorah!

Actually managed to avoid being induced by 4 hours - went into labour at 3am on Thursday, 17th and gave birth to our little girl at 1.15pm the same day. We've called her Sofia Rose and she weighed in at 7lbs 4oz.

Managed to labour for the majority of time in the birthing pool which was lovely but unfortunately little Sofia got stuck and after what seemed an eternity they literally fished me out of the pool and I was introduced to Monsieur Vonteuse - who pulled her out in a jiffy!

Have been home since Saturday and am slowly getting to grips with not getting very much done apart from feeding baby, changing baby and just gazing in wonder at her. Life is good!!

Will post pictures soon, I promise.

Spats I hope your little one decides to come along soon!
