Morning everyone.
Jonah, sorry to hear about your nan and the ensuing family arguments, not good at any time, let alone now.
Coop, I do feel for you, with this hospital business, but I'm sure everything will be ok. As Uki says, a good birth story if nothing else.
All these shows, it looks like things are kicking off. I've had a bad stomache this morning and back ache. Probably nothing, but who knows.

I am starting to get a bit nervous about it all, as during this pregnancy I've put the birth of ds out of my mind, but as things get closer, it's starting to play on my mind more and more.
I've got an appointment with the consultant on Wed to discuss a possible elective episiotomy, hopefully that will put our minds at rest.
Uki, really hope things started for you naturally, good luck this weekend.

Anynews on Lua? Tea?
Have a good weekend everyone

JonahB · 04/06/2005 10:51

Mogwai, don?t get me started on my opinions of my midwife . I?ve already been ranting on this thread about it. Let?s just say that you?re not on your own in feeling frustrated. This also seems to be the general consensus amongst the majority of my girl friends.

Katz, I?ll keep my fingers crossed for you??.

KVG, hope you?re having fun with with DH

I'm hopefully going to seee my friend's 3 day old baby today. Its quite funny. Her DH is happily inviting all and sundry round to visit this weekend, but all our mates are thinking, "is this REALLY what the mother wants when she has a newborn and an ill 3 yr old to content with already?"

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and I'm expecting some new arrivals next time I log in....

Cooperoo · 04/06/2005 12:30

Hello all, Loads to catch up on again but no new babies yet....
Kat - Sounds promising for you!! Fingers crossed.
Franni - Fingers crossed your aches are the start of something too. I can completely sympathise with feeling nervous and I had a good time with dd. From what I have read though you will have a muh better time of things second time around. Hopefully your consultant will be able to explain why you tore and offer you some reassurance and the episiotomy you are requesting. I cannot imagine for one moment they will say no to that. Good Luck. I have been having big panics recently and lots of tearful moments. I posted on childbirth and got lots of wonderful positive stories about second time births and feel alot stronger for them (and the support I get on this thread of course.)
Uki - I really hope you BP starts to behave so you can have the birth where you want it. Excited and nervous sums it up completely. Good Luck.
KVG - Helloooo. We missed you. Your words were not at all patronising and are totally true. Had they come from DH he would have got a slap ha ha as he dosn't have to do it but from a fellow Mum to be I find your words very comforting so thank you. And you are absolutely right!!
Bubb - I went to bed last night with a bad tummy and feeling quite rough and was fairly certain it was the start of something like my body clearing out. But lo and behold it appears to just be a tummy upset as I feel fine today. Quite relieved in a way actually as I felt so ill and tired I couldn't imagine having a baby as well. Short lived though. How are you now?
Mog - Yay about head engaged. Sorry about your crap m/w though. That is rubbish.
Hi Pink - Glad you are still here and hope you have been relaxing after all your exams etc. Rest up and read that book you promised yourself.
Lynny - Have a wonderful time with Leona. Awww. Glad you have been given a date too so you know the end is in sight.
Welshie - I love ds name. My DH is far too conventional/traditional to let me even have a shot at a lovely name like that. And good grief YES you are allowed loads of Green and Blacks if you are breast feeeding!!!!!! or even if not you are recovering from an operation and coping with a beautiful newborn. I will still be eating loads of chocolate ice cream.
Charley - Love your epic posts. Lol about the piles too. I may not have them yet but there is still time and if it were not for the Fybogel equivalent there is no doubt they would have been added to my list of woes. Our UK m/w meet us at the hospital and hand us over properly but cannot stay and Gas and air is a licenced drug or something and not licensed at Limassol General so no chances. I am coming to terms with things now thanks to some fab advice and replies on my other thread. ? about the Cyp nationality. The bump will be entitled in theory but the nat service thing is a factor.....Hadn't thought about it lke that so top advice from Karen/hotmummy. What you wrote to Lynny was so perfect too.
Bubb - Meant to say odd you have to wait till 4 cm till epidural as my pain relief has to be administered before 4 cm or it is not an option. It does make sense though as epi's can slow things down. You will be fine though. Just make sure they know you want it so you don't have to wait for it when it is time.
Jonah - Love the cake idea. Which Nigella book is that in? Enjoy the trip to see the new baby. Just offer to make a cup of tea and your friend will love you I am sure.
Mrs W - I am not surprised you haven't packed a bag considering you are having a home birth although I think it is prob an idea. I could hardly get motivated to pack as I didn't want to go to the hospital and somehow it is confirmation I am going to pack a bag. Get it done though. YOu may not have time when those contractions start .

bubbaloo · 04/06/2005 14:19

franni-all these tummy aches everyones having-lets hope its the start of things for you.good luck for weds btw.

jonah-hope you enjoy yourself at your friends today.how lovely that you'll both have babies the same age as each other.i was actually saying to dh last night that when we do have the baby i dont think i want anyone coming up to the hospital to see us.obviously once we're home im sure we'll be bombarded and hopefully we wont actually be in hospital that long,so i really just want some time alone for the 3 of us.
my parents, especially my dad is really put out by this i think.its they're 1st grandchild, they're excited and obviously because he took so long to conceive it makes it even worse.must admit, its now sort of making me feel a little bit guilty-perhaps i should let them come up to the hospital! has anyone any views/opinions on this please? would be much appreciated.

hi coop-my tummy upset is also fine today.i probably just made a pig of myself yesterday, eating 2 pieces of carrot cake.either that or our bodies are playing tricks on us all.seems weird so many of us have had the same thing.

Lua · 04/06/2005 14:42

Hi everybody!!!
Feel like I have been away for ages! congratulations to Myermay and tessiebear! Hope Tea and Katz have popped too! Sorry if I am missing someone else, but only had time for a quick skim of the thread
We are just back from the hospital! Lucas Benjamin was born on June 3rd, 2:27AM weighing (only) 7lbs 14oz, and 56cm long! The actual labour was really quick (about 2 hours), but the whole induction process really long and frustrating. In the end all worked out ok, and I escaped the C-section. And,of course, more importantly, little guy looks really healthy.
so I'll get over everything else....
Good luck to everybody else waiting!!!!

bubbaloo · 04/06/2005 14:53

CONGRATULATIONS LUA!!!!!

what a lovely name and a great weight!
glad it all went well for you-im really pleased.

MrsWednesday · 04/06/2005 14:59

Ahhhhhh congratulations Lua

What a lovely name. Welcome to the world Lucas Benjamin! So pleased you avoided a c-section. Hope you recover quickly and that your DD is enjoying her big brother.

Katz, things are sounding promising for you too! After a bit of a lull, things are happening again on the June thread

Nothing happening here though...

Better not stay here too long, I might catch this strange lurgy that's going around .

Proper catch-up later, must go and entertain DS before he pulls all the wires out of the computer.

katzguk · 04/06/2005 15:34

congratulations Lua, thats great news, glad the birth wasn't too awful.

megi · 04/06/2005 15:41

Hi everyone.

Still here! - Kat are things moving for you? - I am still having a show which has lasted 2 weeks - hopefully it will be a better sign of things moving along than it was for me! - I have to accept that this could go on for a few more weeks yet - baby not due for another week! - I just thought I would be early cos dd was! Never mind!

megi · 04/06/2005 15:43

Congratulations Lua - lovely name!

Cooperoo · 04/06/2005 15:48

Hooray Lua. So glad to hear of the safe arrival of baby Lucas. Perfect weight too. Glad all your stresses about the birth are over and you have your little man to enjoy.

Bubb - I said I didn't want any visitors in the hospital too. In hindsight I said this because I was so far (4.5 hours) from my family that I wasn't really expecting any and so thought this way I wouldn't be disappointed. My mum is a teacher too so if baby was born midweek she couldn't visit anyway...at least that is what I thought.
DD arrived early on a Monday morn and my first visitors (who missed visiting time but talked their way in) were my mum and stepdad. She had talked her head into giving her the day off and driven all that way for 30 mins with us before driving home again. It was magic to see them and I was so keen to show dd off that I really enjoyed having seeing them. I also had a visitor from a friend who lived locally and I was really pleased to see her too despite thinking I wouldn't want any visitors. In the hospital people don't over stay their welcome and you don't feel you have to make them tea, feed them etc. Yes you don't look your best but you don't really care and they are more interested in looking at the baby and hearing how you are. I wanted everyone to see my beautiful girl. I was bursting with pride and still on a high while in the hospital. The baby blues kicked in when I got home and there was lots of crying so I was happier with my hospital visitors. DD is the first grandchild on both sides too. My dad came on the Sat and stayed four hours but we were surprisingly on top of things by then and MIL came the week after. I actually hated the drop in visitors. People always came when I was too tired or something and always stayed too long.
HTH and makes sense, was longer than I intended it to be.

Cooperoo · 04/06/2005 15:49

Oh Megi - How frustrating! Hope something happens soon.

tribpot · 04/06/2005 15:56

Yippee Lua! Many congratulations on Lucas' safe arrival, so pleased you avoided the c-section. Enjoy!

Bubb - I don't really want visitors in the hospital either. Dunno if I shall manage to keep the MIL away but fortunately there's virtually no other family locally, except dh's ex-sister-in-law (if that makes sense). She works in the hospital so I think it may be a bit optimistic to think she won't pop in, but at least it will be brief. Hopefully people will be understanding that I want to get home and settled, particuarly as the labour is going to be pretty hard on dh as well given his own health. Priority really is our own rest + the bean of course.

On the other hand, this is grandchild number 10 for my parents So my family aren't likely to be dashing over to see us anyway (just as well as they all live miles away).

Coop - apols for my comment on your thread about the hospital, I should have realised you'd been for a visit since you'd mentioned it on here. Pregnancy brain I think! Hope you're feeling okay today.

tribpot · 04/06/2005 16:03

latest baby stats

welshmum · 04/06/2005 16:17

Lua - BIG CONGRATS and such a lovely name too - hope all is going well with your new addition.
Glad you like ds's name ladies, now we're just trying to settle on his middle name and we're done - serious negotiation involved.
He's being a little poppet - feeding every 3 hours and really settling down. We had our first taste of things to come today - wandering round the farmer's market with dd on dh's shoulders and ds in a pouch on me - it made me feel very soppy. Got to thinking about buying a camper van and going on jaunts round Europe
Thinking of you all as 'things'begin and progress xxx

Noggermum · 04/06/2005 19:53

HELLO EVERYONE!

I am pleased to report that Isla Rebecca was born yesterday (3rd june) at 11.07 am weighing in at a very titchy 8lbs 7 oz (DD1 was 9lb 4oz by way of comparison). Had very easy labour and delivery and came home last night - could do it all again! Isla is lovely. Mmore news soon.

Good luck everyone awaiting D day

Cooperoo · 04/06/2005 20:04

Yay. What fantastic news and another beautiful name. Congratulations Noggermum. My dd was 8lb 7 too. Glad to know they aren't all automatically bigger second time round.

Trib - Please don't think twice about your post. Absolutely no apology necessary in the slightest. Thanks for your message and the updated stats. One baby has a birthday in the future though....... Are you testing us?

Mrs W. - You paint such a lovely picture. I want my baby NOW!!!

Wonder if Tea's baby has arrived too??
Kat - Hows things?

Cooperoo · 04/06/2005 20:05

Sorry I meant Welshie not Mrs W .

MrsWednesday · 04/06/2005 20:11

Hi Everyone!

WOW - CONGRATULATIONS LUA!! Well done Sounds like all in all everything went really well for you. I'd be interested in knowing about your induction process if and whenever you feel like posting it. Lovely name. Great weight after all that!

And CONGRATULATIONS NOGGERMUM! Another lovely name (same as dp's niece). Hardly "very titchy" though

Good luck Katz how exciting!!!!!

Coop - I've had a quick read through your thread and found it's reassured me about my (current) decision to forgoe pain killers, so you must feel much better yourself. Isn't MN great?!

Bubb - I'm totally with you on the hosipital visiting thing. I just want to use that time to concentrate on getting everything together so I can leave asap! I've also told my dad he can't come and visit me at all for a couple of weeks. He was most put out. Don't care there, he's never made the effort to come and visit me in over 15 years, so he can come when I'm ready. You're probably much closer to yours than me though, so I can understand why you might feel guilty. I don't.

Welshie - lol at you thinking about buying a camper van - we're fantasising about doing exactly the same thing!

I had to go back to bed this morning feeling pukey and stuff - not that bug though this time I don't think. Think it's the same as a few of you are having on here - no one told me about this!!
