Oh Katz good luck - sounds like you're next!!!!

Congratulations to the Noggermum family on the birth of Isla and the Lua family on the safe and un-surgical arrival of Lucas.

This is just a quickie - will try and catch up more tomorrow.....

Well after a very on off day of false starts Amber weighed in at 6lbs 13oz and made a very speedy arrival on thursday 2nd June at 15.50 after a 2 1/2 hour labour (20 !!! minute 3 push 2nd stage!!! arrhhh no time for epidural here ). She's the spitting image of her brother when he was born and is an angel. Had to stay in hospital until today coz shock fast birth not good for hole in heart and anitbiotics that should be administered prior to 2nd stage of labour, ha ha ha! but cardio cleared me today so we're all home now - just a shame I'm too blooming knackered to celebrate my wedding anniversary today !.

Good luck to Katz and anyone else going into labour tonight/tomorrow, and will do a full birth epic (won't be long!) tomorrow when my boys go shopping x.

bubbaloo · 04/06/2005 22:13

CONGRATULATIONS teabelly!!!

another lovely name!
wow-everytime i log on tonight theres another announcement.

glad everything went well for you and what a lovely way to spend your anniversary!

MrsWednesday · 04/06/2005 22:14

Oh wonderful news Teabelly

Another lovely name too. Blimey, she was in a hurry to be born after keeping you (and all of us ) waiting for a few days.

It's so exciting and emotional...can't believe we've got to the point when all the June babies are arriving. Feel quite weepy actually

Good luck Katz, hope you have a straight-forward, painless delivery to report tomorrow.

katzguk · 04/06/2005 22:14

congrats teabelly!

given up on sleeping, now trying distraction!!

Bubbaloo, you were so right about the buses comment

bubbaloo · 04/06/2005 23:14

thanks for your views on the visiting in hospital.i am very close to my family but think i will stick to my guns providing im only in for a day.obviously if im in any longer, then it wouldnt be fair on them as they'll all be itching to see him.
charley-hope your'e feeling better.i actually felt a bit sick earlier but i think that was just because i was hungry.had a lovely curry followed by pineapple(again!!).beginning to think this must be an old wives tale as nothings happened yet.
another one of my silly questions,if anyone knows the answer please-when your waters break do you actually get a warning or does it just happen? just wondered if i was in bed or sitting on the sofa etc...would it just happen or would i think "oh i need the loo?".probably a really daft question but would be interested to know the answer.

tribpot · 04/06/2005 23:20

Blimey, it's like Baby Central in here tonight! Just popped in to check up on things and discover Baby Teabelly and Baby Nogger have joined Baby Lua in being announced today. (And all very short labours, well done ladies).

Katz, you sound like you are well on your way as well, fantastic news.

Yet another baby stats update

bubbaloo · 04/06/2005 23:22

that chart is looking really colourful trib.bet you'll have more to add tomorrow.

berolina · 04/06/2005 23:33

CONGRATULATIONS Teabelly, Noggermum, Lua, Myermay (another Samuel! ) !!!
Sorry to have disappeared from the thread for so long. Have been battling with bf (as some of you will know from my thread in the bf section) and pretty wound up about it, not to mention sleep-deprived. Am unfortunately stll struggling with it, including differences of opinion with dh as to whether to continue mixed feeding (I really really hate giving formula, dh is for it, especially as Samuel still has a tiny touch of jaundice - dh wants to test weigh before and after breaatfeeds, I don't as have been told it's misleading), but I know it could take a couple of weeks yet and am trying to be calm and patient (emphasis on 'trying' ). Samuel is doing well, hit his birth weight on original EDD and - according to our scales - the 3kg mark today - am wondering whether he's gaining too fast, or is that allowed?
Anyway, think Samuel is waking for feed (about time too), so off I go again...

tribpot · 05/06/2005 00:34

Oh berolina please tell me you're not now worrying that Samuel's gaining weight too fast Whatever next? "My baby is too healthy, is there something wrong with him"?!

Keep up the good work, I think the weighing thing is mad, to be honest. The baby's not a science experiment! Hope you can get some sleep.

Coop, well done for noticing my 'deliberate' mistake in having Lummox's baby as having been born on 26 June. I'm hoping that by that date my own baby will be on the chart

katzguk · 05/06/2005 05:04

morning - still here, managed to go to sleep through the mild contractions and have now woken up with stronger ones but more spaced out so i guess this baby wants to take his/her time!

OP posts:
Cooperoo · 05/06/2005 05:59

Ohhh Kat, morning. How you doing? Glad you have maybe got a bit of rest last night. It will happen today I am sure. Keep upright and mobile if you can. My contractions slowed down when I was in hospital last time because I was lying down. The minute I sat up they came on thick and strong again and walking (hard I know) and staying upright really does keep everything ticking over. Really thining of you. So exciting!

Congratulations to Teabelly too. I just knew your dd was here and have been waiting for your post. Glad to hear of another quick labour too!

Charley - My other thread has some fab replies doesn't it? It has made such a difference to my frame of mind.
All these babies arriving is making me quite tearful too. .

Bero - I know it is hard to stick to your guns esp if DH is doubting you a little bit but you are doing SOOOOOO brilliantly with the breast feeding. Samuel is a fab weight and I really don't think he needs those top ups now. Trust yourself to provide what he needs. You are doing it already. Stop weighing him too, it is not healthy for you or DH and is making you paranoid parents. If you were in the UK you would not be doing that. Trust the weight gain and the wet and dirty nappies. Take it a day at a time and I bet you will be happily bf for months to come. He will not starve!!!! Listen to Mears and good luck. Also make sure you and DH get some rest and decent food and drink. I can't stress how much being tired, hungry or thirsty adds to the stress and exhaustion of having a new baby. I read about your Dh's comment too. Yes it was a stupid thing to say but it sounds like he is totally exhausted by everything too. Your baby needs you above all else (incl your DH at the mo I am afraid for him) and that bond cannot be broken by bottles or stresses at feeding etc. Good Luck.

Hulababy · 05/06/2005 09:47

Just wantedto pop in and say good luck to Katz. Hope it is really soon for you

Franniban · 05/06/2005 11:03

Morning girls, how fabulous, more babies, and lovely names too. Congratulations to everyone.
Good luck Katzguz.
It's really reassuring to hear the births have been quick and trouble free. Coop I think you're right you've just got to trust that things will be ok. And quick! Not another 48 hours please!
Bub, my waters broke at 4 in the morning in bed, with a massive gush! But then I've heard that it can be a little trickle, so not much help there. It felt like someone had popped a bag of crisps inside me! (Strange I know!)
Bero, I think Coop is right, you've got to trust your instincts on this, it sounds as if little Samual is doing great.

Well back ache is all gone, and nothing happening here, but did have to go an lie down earlier as felt very strange, and all hot and clammy. Going to up the dosage on the old raspberry leaf caps today, maximum dosage!
Hope everyone is feeling ok today, it is strange, waiting for things to happen.

Franniban · 05/06/2005 11:27

Coop, just been reading your other thread. People are very kind and reassuring aren't they?! I know I'm not in the same position as you, but there is the fear factor with second time round, and it has reassured me slightly!
I think that we'll all be fine.

JonahB · 05/06/2005 11:55

Gosh, 3 new babies
Lua, congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to Lucas . Lucas is a lovely name, glad to hear you avoided the c-section.
Congratulations also to Noggermum, glad the labour and delivery went so well.
Last, but certainly not least, congrats to Teabelly. What a wonderful anniversary pressie!!!

Katz, thinking of you??.

Coop, the clementine cake was in ?How to Eat?, but if you are only going to try one of that sort of recipe, I would really recommend Nigella?s almond and orange blossom cake, which is out of this world and in the same book. If you want me to send you over recipes, let me know and I?ll CAT them over.

Bubb, I share your feelings about the hospital. I don?t think I want visitors there either, especially as my hosp only keeps you in for 1 night, if it?s a normal birth. I have asked DH in advance that if I?m not up to visitors, he will politely but firmly say no on both our behalves. I think it?s important, as you do, to take some time to get to know each other as an immediate family, as it?s such a big adjustment. If I offend people, so be it. The sensible ones will all understand.

Well, today is both my due date and my grandma?s funeral. My stress levels are fairly high. I don?t have a terribly good relationship with my mother, and I?ve already had her in tears on me this am. I also suspect that I?m about to be ?exhibit A? at this funeral. I know everyone means well, and a birth is something lovely, especially at a time of mourning, I just (rather ungratefully) don?t want the attention. I can also safely say that this bump has absolutely no intention of making an appearance yet. I really hope I?m proved wrong, but I just don?t think the little mite is ready to make an entry. Bit fed up today. Sorry for winging. Must go and comfort myself with more M&S chocolate crispy bites?..

bubbaloo · 05/06/2005 12:24

afternoon all,

bero-nice to hear from you.sounds like samuel is coming on a treat.

franni-ive now finished my box of raspberry leaf tea and must admit i rather liked it.i am now beginning to think though that the baby will only make an appearence when he's good and ready!
i hope my waters dont go "pop" in bed like yours-i only had my mattress topper dry cleaned yesterday!!!

hi jonah-hope today goes aswell as to be expected and without any hitches-will be thinking of you.
im really pleased that im not the only one not wanting visitors at the hospital-doesnt make me seem as mean as i thought i was.
btw, those cakes sound lovely.my mum makes a sultana cheesecake which is really yummy and i keep telling myself i must get motivated into baking one also.ive so many recipe booksbut never get round to using them.i bought the dinner lady one a few weeks ago and even that is starting to collect dust.
oh well...hope everyones ok and had a good weekend.ive just sent dh off to sainsburys-im refusing to leave the house at the mo incase i go "pop"!!!
.

mrsflowerpot · 05/06/2005 12:48

Oh wow, haven't had time to catch up on the thread but just dropped in on the stats page - and three new babies! Congratulations Teabelly, Noggermum and Lua!

Hope everyone is well - good luck Katz, sounds like it's imminent for you!

No sign of baby here yet, but have finally got the baby's room cleared out and cleaned and all the stuff down from the loft. DH in a state of shock this morning as he'd forgotten all the clutter that babies come with.

Spent the best part of last week driving around Dorset/Hampshire but have at least identified an area we want to live in. So now we just have to sell our house, find a new one and move... Charley - if you are thinking of that area it is lovely. We've sort of settled on the edge of the New Forest (Ringwood area), just have to find the house now.

charleypops · 05/06/2005 13:21

OMG! Another one - and there was me thinking it was safe to log off last night

CONGRATULATIONS TEABELLY - and hello AMBER!!! Gorgeous name. So no time for your much heralded epidural in the end then?? Was it terribly painful? Sounds great all in all though, hope it wasn't too stressful having to stay in a few days. What a great reason to not be celebrating your wedding anniversary x

Bero - I'm ordering one of these Deluxe Lact-Aid at-breast supplementers tomorrow (click on "facts About Using Lact-aid System for more info). I have high hopes for this system in anticipation of my bf problems. Sounds like you're doing really really well as it is though.

Jonah - sorry you're having such a stressful day today, hope the funeral goes smoothly. I can't believe you have any M&S crispy bites left

MrsF - we love the New Forest too, that's definitely an area I'm keeping my eye on. Good luck with finding somewhere!

Dp made me laugh last night - I caught him drinking wine, then discovered that he seems to think that if I haven't gone into labour by about 9pm on an evening, then it's safe for him to open a bottle!

Katz - how's it going - are you still at home? I suspect not.....

Lippy/KVG - you ok??

MrsWednesday · 05/06/2005 13:59

Have been out with DH and DS this morning and I couldn't wait to get back and see if there were any more new arrivals...seemed like there was one every ten minutes last night

JonahB, hope everything goes as well as can be expected today. I suppose it's all the 'circle of life' stuff that gets people going on at pregnant women at funerals (had the same thing at my mum's as I was 8 months pregnant at the time) but the attention can be overwhelming. Hope it passes smoothly and without any more family arguments.

Bubbaloo, my waters broke without any warning whatsoever. Luckily I was in the bathroom, having just been for a wee - I stood up and out it gushed (with an enormous blob of mucus plug/show - sorry for the TMI there). No crisp bag-popping noise, just an awful lot of fluid. I was reading the May thread the other day though and Noggermum said hers were more of a trickle, so it just depends really. I think only about 15% of women's waters break before labour starts.

Berolina, if you lived round the corner I'd come to your house and give you an enormous hug, you sound so stressed. You mustn't worry that this will affect your bond with Samuel - lots of people (me included) find the early days really hard work, and you've had a tougher time than most what with Samuel being in hospital. It's an incredibly difficult time coping with a completely dependent little person, you don't know what you are doing and you are both massively sleep-deprived. If you could get a few minutes to yourself at some point in the day or evening, to have a soak in the bath with a trashy magazine you might be able to re-charge your batteries a bit. You are doing a brilliant job sticking with breast-feeding, but the odd bottle of formula (if it helps you out) isn't the end of the world.

Well I am going to go and pack my hospital bag and start generally taking this birth thing seriously. Have been having quite uncomfortable cramps since I got up this morning and have just had a bit of a show too, so you never know, things could be happening here too. DH announced that he is much more nervous than he was first time round, then promptly fell asleep on the settee with DS!

Katz, looking forward to hearing from you soon

katzguk · 05/06/2005 15:39
