Feeling pi**ed - MW came round to do a sweep (41 weeks today). My cervix was not favourable enough to do it. She was in up to her elbow and couldnt even get to the back of my cervix Booked for induction next wed feel like all the choices for my natural birth are slowly being taken away
CONGRATULATIONS LIPSTICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did it happen naturally in the end - will go and look for the gory details on your birth announcement

tribpot · 06/07/2005 19:48

Oof, wincing on your behalf, Tessiebear. I didn't realise a cervix could be sufficiently unfavourable that they couldn't do a sweep - based on the appalling noises I heard from the bed next to me a few weeks ago, in my hospital they seem to just go for it regardless [ouch face]

Keeping fingers crossed for you.

teabelly · 06/07/2005 21:54

YEAH - CONGRATULATIONS LIPPY AND MOG

Good to see you back Charley

Wishing all the best for Gweny, EYM and Tessie and anyone else yet to pop

Right off to read the announcements...

LipstickMum · 06/07/2005 22:35

Hi Tessie big commiserations I know how you feel and it's shitty, no 2 ways about it.

My mw couldn't do a sweep either, although she had a 'fiddle' I was totally pissed of and resigned to an induced, monitored, long painful labour and birth. Not to mention feeling like my body was completely useless.

Not much one can say, because you may have to be induced. But, like me, it may just all suddenley happen when you've given up hope. I truly didn't believe my birth would be as good as it was.

What were your other labours like? Think positively about the induction if it happens, hopefully your body will kick in and do what it's meant to. Fingers crossed.

LipstickMum · 06/07/2005 22:37

Oh, yes we decided on a name. One of the nicknames is Millie, so we can go with that for her online status!

Tessiebear · 07/07/2005 09:13

millie is a lovely name Lippy
Your story has encouraged me - last labour happened at 41 weeks - naturally, water birth, quick labour etc. I hadnt had a sweep at that point so admittedly i dont know how READY i was just before labour.
MEARS has given me some encouraging advice (as always - )
Tribpot - The MW didnt have enough arm left to get to the top of my cervix - when she came out she said she thinks she may have sprained her wrist and

Lua · 07/07/2005 10:41

Congrats Lippy and Mog!
Millie is a great name!

LOL Tessie at your MW "coming out"...
Don't loose faith, my cervix went from unreachable to birth pretty fast, and I think Lippy's did too (Am I right, Lippy?)

Good luck and speedy deliveries to all still in one piece! We are keeping the postnatal thread warm for you.

charleypops · 07/07/2005 11:13

CONGRATULATIONS Lippy and Mogwai and your GIRLS!!!

Mog - well done for enduring that marathon labour! Glad you enjoyed your epi

Lippy - well done - sounds like you had a lovely birth xx

Good luck EYM - Look forward to your next post!

Tessie - poor you! - please try not to worry too much about the possibility of maybe not having a natural birth.- I'm sure you'll have whichever is the safest and quickest in your circumstances. Good luck - I went into labour the same day as I was booked in for induction so you never know..

LipstickMum · 07/07/2005 11:42

Hello everyone

I am an official member of the one handed typing club

Yes Lua you're right I went from 2-10 in about 5 hours.

It's a very surreal space you're in Tessie, waiting for labour. Most of us have been there. Souds like your other births were quick, so keep that in mind! I do hope something happens ssoon xxx

Mog, have u got a name yet?

RoseBerry · 07/07/2005 11:58

Well, finally, my son was born on Thursday last. Am exhausted but happy

Lua · 07/07/2005 14:30

Yey! Roseberry! Congrats!

charleypops · 07/07/2005 14:42

Congratualation Roseberry!!

Does he have name yet?

Tessiebear · 07/07/2005 18:42

Thanks for your words of encouragement everyone - had a longish walk today (obviously done nothing) Nor has the sex, curry etc that i tried yesterday - and this is from someone who says that she doesnt agree in all the old wives tales
All the nesting that i have been doing for the last couple of weeks seems to have undone itself
My lovely clean fridge is no longer clean etc. Have been bulk cooking today - so maybe that is a sign.
I have decided that at the end of the day - this time next week i should definately have my baby one way or the other and i am just going to have to accept that no two labours can be the same - however much you want them to be!!!

PinkArjuna · 07/07/2005 19:29

Congraulations Lippy, Mogwai and Roseberry!! I go off for a little bit and all the babies turn up.

Good luck Tessie hope all goes well

Tessiebear · 08/07/2005 09:06

Well done Roseberry and KVG!!!!!!
(the non-stop feeding wont last KVG!)

Lua · 08/07/2005 15:12

Hi Tessie! How is it going?
Want to let you know that we are still checking on you!

Tessiebear · 09/07/2005 07:55

Thanks Lua - feeling a bit "uncomfortable" today - as if things MIGHT be on the move. Feel like babys head has moved down as i was up and down to the loo all night. Spent yesterday afternoon helping DH put a bed together and various other quite physical activities so that may have helped - am still here though

bubbaloo · 09/07/2005 09:02

morning tessie-just checking to see if you've made any progress.all sounds very promising,so hopefully you won't have long to go now.

sending you lots of labour vibes~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

.xxx

tribpot · 09/07/2005 09:54

Keep up the good work Tessie! I carried shedloads of stuff down the stairs and did various trips to the tip just before I went into labour (okay I was induced but I was at 3cm when they started, so it all helps!) Best of luck to you.

tribpot · 09/07/2005 10:20
