HI everyone

I'm too busy nesting to post these days It's fab!

Sorry to hear some of you are having worries about the delivery. I'm far too pre-occupied to stress about things, thank god, other wise I'd be a nervous wreck!!

Is there chat going on on the post-natal thread??? I daren't go over, I can't keep up here as it is.

Lots of love xxx

bubbaloo · 10/06/2005 12:19

coop-that's made me feel a bit better then as i've packed all the same things, except the camera, lots of change and list of phone numbers are all in my hand bag.
didn't actually think about a labour bag for me-i've just packed one big case with all my stuff and another for the baby.perhaps it would be better to split it up but then i might be "in labour" for a couple of days so i don't know!!

trib-sorry to hear your'e feeling not too good at the mo.i've had backache for a couple of days and im exhausted(as im not sleeping!)but apart from that i dont feel too bad.im certainly not enjoying this hot weather either-must be 10x worse where you are coop.

lippy-i've popped over to the post natal threads a couple of times just to be nosey, but the talk of stitches etc...soon makes me run back here.

Afternoon all,

Bubb, glad to hear your going for the same, desperate measures as me . When we went for our curry last night, the waiter (almost an old friend, we are such regulars) looked at me and laughed in a ?haven?t you had it YET? kind of way. I did give him strict instructions for the chef to make sure that whatever is supposed to induce labour is added to my dinner in much larger spoonfuls. It?s not working yet though?..

Lua, glad to hear that newborn chimps can be cute too .

Trib, sorry you are feeling so ?hormonal?. Would chocolate help?

I?m am getting a dull ache in my lower tummy, but I?m not sure if that?s a sign of immanent labour, or just the immense weight of the baby pressing down on me. I?m suspecting the latter.

Hope you are all well??.

gwenynbee · 10/06/2005 15:00

Hi Ladies, Many many thanks to you all for thinking of me last weekend! Last weekend passed peacefully, and the consultant was really pleased with my progress. DS is now fully engaged, so it's just the waiting now!! I can't wait!! There's still 15 days to go until the due date!!

It's taken me this long to log on - the nesting instinct has kicked in big time - I have been painting the inside of the airing cupboard this morning - sorting out everything in there!!!! This is so unlike me!!

I don't feel any differently really, I just feel as if I need a poo all the time (is that TMI?!!) when I really don't need one!

I am sort of prepared now, the kitchen is almost finished bar the finishing little touches, and baby bag is finally packed!!

Congratulations to all the new June mommys!! There's too many to mention personally!! I can't wait to see the box by my name in blue. DS name is still undecided.....we just can't agree on a name yet. I am hoping that DP will feel sorry for me after seeing me in pain, and let me decide! (wishful thinking eh?!)

Take care ladies (and babies!) and thank you again, you are all very thoughful!

katzguk · 10/06/2005 15:26

hello everyone

well my milk came in yesterday and i now have boobs like rocks!!

Annalise slept really well last night, she went down to sleep at 11pm then woke at 3.30 for a feed (~20mins) and then slept til 6am had a little snack and went back to sleep until 7.30!! she was then wide awake until 10am!! She does like her milk though and can take up to 2 hrs to get fully full during the day, but will then sleep for 3 hours afterwards.

Second time round is soooo different to the first, i've been stressing about completely different things this time, like the feeding for 2 hrs! DD1 would often feed for 1mins then sleep for an hour then feed again but Annalise is quite different. plus she poos for England! DD1 would poo once every 2-3 days and then explode! but Annalise can have up to 6 dirty nappies a day and boy do they smell!!!

OP posts:
Cooperoo · 10/06/2005 18:22

LOL Kat about Annalise and her nappies. Her feeding and sleeping and pooing sounds just like my dd. I was expecting this baby to be the same but I guess you are proof that this will probably not be the case.
Gweny - Painting the inside of the airing cupboard . Glad to hear baby engaged and that you feel ready now. Perhaps he will come early for you.
Lippy - I am impressed with your nesting too. I have not really got going with that, although I did do a HUGE shop this week and now have lots of tins of chopped tomatoes and toilet rolls . I also bought some mini mars in a pack to take to the hospital but they are nearly all gone already . Bought some of those Dove wipes and face cleansing wipes too. All time saving things to help.
It was 28 degrees here today. DH, dd and I all went in our big pool in the garden this afternoon which was fun. It is lovely to feel so light in the water. Am tempted to use it in early labour but don't think that is very sensible really.....will have to stick with the bath. Right that is all for now. Nothing to report. Good Luck with the self induction techniques for those of you attempting them.
Trib - Hope you are OK. Hormones are v difficult to deal with. Hope you had a sleep and felt better.

redheadmum · 10/06/2005 22:52

hello everyone

It s been soooo long since I posted...now I'm home I'm finding it really hard to get on the net (Dd demands Blue cow or ELSE) have missed all the excitement of babies!

I'm 37 weeks now...and am really feeling v v heavy now- lumbering around like a house. I'm also getting terrible pain in my pubic bone (anyone else?) have posted on the pregnancy thread so hope I'll get some tips.

nothing much to report really...getting my pool next week and then it's just a question of waiting......

PinkArjuna · 10/06/2005 23:25

I'm glad this midwife was better Megi

I hope everyone is ok - its very quiet now. I have myself been peeking at the postnatal thread.

I've noticed that Bubba doesn't seem to move so much these days. He seems to shift his body and get bits stuck awkwardly, I think he has run out of room to move. Or does this mean he is going to turn up because he's conserving energy as I read a few posts down?

Not any sign of anything really - he's due on Sunday. I haven't drunk the raspberry leaf tea or anything. I only just finished one of my books and the other one is still on the go. I seem to be more bothered about my car tax that needs to be renewed before the end of the month but they won't do it until the 15th of June I hope Bubba is late so I can pay my car tax and not recieve a huge fine if it isn't done and I'm in the hospital or forgotten about it due to baby tiredness and lack of sanity. They aren't very helpful.

Aren't there anymore babies yet?? or are people nesting or something. I'm so bored with the thread not moving Oh well. Perhaps this is why people have DH/DP someone to talk to...

katzguk · 11/06/2005 08:08

Morning girls,
Feeling refreshed this morning as ds slept whole night! Must have been the medised that knocked the poor critter out. Must be hell teething, glad I don't remember it.
Bub, I did smile at the suitcase thing. I remember taking a suit case in when I had ds and there not being enough room for it in the labour suite! Dh had to unload it and take it out to the car! And the bloody birthing ball!
Coop thought that was a good idea to take a little supplies bag in and top up from the car. I've managed to borrow a reasonable sized hold all this time.
Am now downing rasp leaf caps at a rate of knotts and even tried you know what this morning, so lets see if anything happens! Sorry TMI!
No news on Uki or lynny?
Congrats to Scraggy!

purpleturtle · 11/06/2005 08:39

Hi Katz,

glad to hear Annalise is doing well. Just popped in to say that I've come out in sympathy - I saw 3.30am before I got to sleep last night! there's a very slim possibility that we'll have a window of opportunity to pop in again tomorrow afternoon, but if not, take care and I'll see you when we get back.

katzguk · 11/06/2005 08:50

purple - tomorrow pm sounds fine, just buzz first inb case we've gone out i need bigger bras!!!

CONGRATULATIONS scraggy!!!

mrsflowerpot · 11/06/2005 09:09

Oh lovely news for a Saturday morning, congratulations Scraggy!

Hope all of us that are left are making the most of a quiet weekend and feeling OK - Trib hope you're feeling better. Megi, glad the different midwife was more reassuring.

Well, saw the consultant again yesterday. Baby still very high up, but not measuring enormous, so he has agreed that I can go to term +12 just as they would let anyone else do to see if I go into spontaneous labour, but if I don't then I'm booked in for a c/s on 27 June. He's not optimistic that I will go into labour he says, but if I do there is no danger in a trial of labour, so that's the best I could hope for really.

Now we just have to work out what MIL is planning - she offered to come down for a week to help out, but she seems to have assumed it would be this week coming as that is when I'm actually due. It's proving a bit difficult to get through to her that we actually need the help when the baby arrives/is arriving, and that we can't tell her exactly when that is. She was on the phone last night because she wants to get her kitchen sink fixed and she wanted to know when to arrange it for - I think she wants me to say, oh OK then, I won't go into labour on Thursday because you've got the plumber in. I have told dh he has to talk to her and get some sense out of her, I deal with my insane parents and he can deal with his.

Coop, if I had a pool (and the weather for it) at the moment I would not be out of it at all! Enjoy it this weekend.

bubbaloo · 11/06/2005 09:10

hi rhm-nice to hear from you again.
sorry avout the spd.ive got it very mildly which is bad enough-you must be in alot of pain but hopefully once you've had the baby it'll go!

franni-didnt think about room for my bags at the hospital.maybe i'll try what coop said as thats a brilliant idea.it'll be sods law though that i'll want something from the car.
btw,we also tried "it" last night and it hasnt worked so far.think im going to give up on these so called techniques!!

bubbaloo · 11/06/2005 09:12

mrsf-sorry x posted.LOL at your mil and her sink!!

welshmum · 11/06/2005 09:58

Scraggy - big congrats on the arrival of your little Lucy - really looking forward to hearing how it went. Well done you x

tribpot · 11/06/2005 10:36

hurrah for Scraggy! And update on our baby stats

MrsF, most amused by your MIL's approach to childbirth. It must have been a lot easier in her day when you could plan it all around visits from the plumber

Pink, don't worry too much about your car tax, I think you get a month's grace after it's due anyway.

RHM, good to hear from you again. I think we're all just playing a waiting game now.

JonahB · 11/06/2005 10:56

Morning All,
A big congratulations to Scraggy and Lucy . Looking forward to hearing all the details?

Mrs F, ah the world of insane parents. You have my complete and utter empathy there. I do agree with you. Each partner can deal with their own world-of-insanity parents. There are certain boundaries, which even the most successful partnership can?t be expected to cross . My DH?s family was the same. They issued me with a complex list of dates they were on holiday/on day trips out, as if I was supposed to fit in with their busy social life!

Frann/Bubb, good luck! Hope the you-know-what works for you. Certainly didn?t work for me, but neither has the pineapple or the curry either. Nothing is getting this little one out . I am resigned to the fact that I am going to be induced next week. Currently on 6 days over my due date. My friends are making me laugh so much though. One friend has kindly offered me the use of her 2 yr old sons brand new climbing frame slide to see if shooting down that will bring something on. Other helpful friends have offered to ?push? from the top to see if anything pops out underneath.
Hope you all have a lovely day.....

teabelly · 11/06/2005 13:09

Afternoon girls,

Never thought I'd say this but I wish I was still at work - it was much easier to log on and keep up there than at home!

Scraggy - Yeah, congratulations on the birth of Lucy, hope to hear all about it soon!

Sorry, have skim read the thread...

Megi - when you say show do you mean lots of white mucus stuff (sorry TMI ) only if you do I had this for the last 3 weeks of this pg, and it was the night before Amber came that I got the blood tinged show so it could mean things are iminent?? But re the white show, this is quite normal according to my mw, so please don't worry.

Coop - if the centre's up and running next week, keep those legs crossed girl!

Have to agree with everyone else, sooooo much more chilled with number 2...or maybe I'm being lulled into a false sense of security!

Re bump size and engaging...mw said babe had engaged, but to look at my bump hadn't fallen at all, and everyone swore I'd be going the fortnight overdue, the night before my mum said 'it'll be at least another week by the looks of it!' (I do so like to prove my mum wrong!) so I think you just really can't tell by looking at the shape and size of your bump.

Had better go for now, said grandma has come to kidnap ds for the afternoon to give us a little break, bless...but have some great pics of Amber so will upload them this weekend.

P.S. Mrs W, glad all's ok after that worry, great names too!

megi · 11/06/2005 18:30

Thanks tea - The discharge has usually been blood-stained for the whole time! - That is why I was worried - but the second midwife said it was probably the plug coming away in little bits! - Anyway I can feel the baby moving so I am not too worried - I was more cross at such the dismissive attitude I got from midwife 1!

Congrats Scraggy!
Pink - dd went very quiet just before she was born - maybe yours is starting to get ready!

PinkArjuna · 11/06/2005 20:28

Congratulations Scraggyaggy!

Well I better be off, I need to put my car seat in the car otherwise I'll curse later for not doing it.

Hope everyone is ok

mcmudda · 11/06/2005 20:35

Hi everyone!

Saw the consultant yesterday as I was 2 days overdue.

She gave me an internal exam which was soooooo painful! She split my legs right apart despite me telling her I had SPD

So I couldn't walk with the pain last night or most of this morning.

BUT!!!! She did a membrane sweep too and it now looks like it's working!!

Contractions are pretty irregular - 10-20 mins apart at this stage, but lasting about a minute and intense.

As we live 1 hour from the hospital I'm not sure when to phone in, but things don't seem to be moving v fast atm so I'll leave it for now and go through my hospital bag one last time!

DH has been timing me, but was a bit distracted as Dr Who was on at the same time and he's got to prioritise!

I guess this could go on for a while or suddenly pick up - I'll have a bath later if it gets bit much.

Will keep you posted ladies! What a considerate baby to decide to come at a weekend - well that would be nice anyway!!

MrsDoolittle · 11/06/2005 20:38

I'm pleased to see this mcmudda! I have been thinking about you in Sunny Scotland, it's so long since I've seen your posts.

I hope it all goes well for you. Loads of good wishes to you. That'll be me next February!

mcmudda · 11/06/2005 20:44

Thanks MrsD and congrats to you too!!

I'm all excited now - my best friend just emailed me photos - she just had a wee boy on Thursday - 10lbs 8oz!!!! I knew we were due within a week of each other - but now it looks like it'll be within days - yay
