lol hester and fastasleep! you give them mws/specialits something to work their money for (go girls!)

yessss, soooo hot! had the pool out for ds, i couldn't get him out anymore!
just a shame it's too small for me

had a lovely 'surprise' in the evening! one of our neighbours invited us around (her mum leaves today back to carribean after 6 months staying here); we took lucas with us from 5 onwards, till at 7 he got tired (as expected) and we just put him to bed and took the babymonitor with us (it's 4 houses down)! so we sort of had a 'babyfree' evening!!!!! was lovely having some 'social life'! (was the first time ever since lucas birth) - lots to drink and eat but at 10pm i was deadtired! dp came home at 2am *ooohhh - but if he thinks he can stay in bed all day, think again

Argh! Why do non-pg women feel they have the right to comment on the size of your bump?!? Just finished a night shift, and a colleague has just come in, declared me to be absolutely enormous, and asked me if "i'm absolutely" sure of my due date Way to make an already paranoid woman feel better - NOT! Funny how niether my midwife, or obstetrician, or GP think i'm 'too big'. I'll just bide my time until the day she gets pg....revenge will be sweet

From the fat frumpy Elephant Woman (or so my colleague would have you believe!)

Elf1981 · 19/06/2005 11:22

Isn't the weather going to break tonight? Sure that's what forecast for my area (Nottingham).
Honestly, it needs to, the heat is awful. Yesterday only wore my wedding ring, but that's only becuase it's the only one I don't take off, so didn't have the problem of trying to put it on, like I did with my engagement ring.
I'm 23 + 4 today. Must admit am starting to wonder how I'll survive the August heat wave everybody is on about. Will be making sure that if we do decide to get pg again in the future, it will be a winter pregnancy!
Names... we have our boys name sorted, and I'm quite happy at that because I'm sure I'm having a boy. But I did have a dream last night where I had a girl and had no idea what to call them!

Oh, and even though Boo hasn't arrived yet, I've got my DH his first fathers day card!

Fairly scary thought... 16 weeks to go!

jessicasmummy · 19/06/2005 11:24

we did that last year elf - got dh a card for fathers day and i got one for mothers day - shame we BOTH forgot this year about the bump - bad mummy and daddy!!!

Elf1981 · 19/06/2005 11:33

My DH always writes "and Baby" when he writes out cards to people for birthdays and stuff. I have started to now that I've had my second scan. But, I didn't put it on my god-daughters card, just my name and DH's, and she looked at me, tutted and said "what about Baby?!". Blimey, she's only seven! She got a pen and made me write it on the bottom of her card! I shall not forget again!!

fastasleep · 19/06/2005 15:46

We've started putting 'from Me DH, Theo and Sophia' ... not even 'the baby' lol!

The weathers broken but it's even bloomin hotter! It's thundering and there's lightening, DS is asleep DH is at the shop and I'm cowering at the pc

bubbles2904 · 19/06/2005 16:00

sorry trespassing here as i am due 3rd sept, just had to lol at fastasleep cowering at the thunder. i'm in north west as the weathers the same here. i was just discussing with dp how weird i am as i love it. me and dd sat at the door watching and listening. god, i am weird lol. wish you all luck , and sorry for trespassing xxx

bubbles2904 · 19/06/2005 16:01

ps. i also put babys name on cards and bought dp a dad to be card for fathers day. he loved it

Piggiesmum · 19/06/2005 16:52

Fastasleep. I am cowering too. I hate thunder and lightening (ever since I got stuck up Kinder Scout in a storm )

Hopefully it'll clear the air a bit though. It's just too hot and I am having trouble finding summery clothes that will accomodate the bump!

Jockey · 19/06/2005 17:34

Is it obscene to wear a bikini when pregnant? Can't believe I'm even considering this as I wouldn't wear one normally! It's so hot today, am getting past the point of caring what I look like. Actually I feel like running round the garden in the nude - honestly any type of clothing feels too hot at the moment! Hope the neighbours don't look - it'll put them off their barbie.

Hester - hoping that someone gives you a seat this coming week as I believe it's going to be hot in London. Those trains are so stifling in the heat of the summer. I've worked through 2 pgs on the wretched tube and it wasn't much fun. Those blinkin' oafs haven't changed much then. You could do without that hassle on top of everything!

Nervousmum - I know what you mean about bump size etc. Getting horrified looks when saying not due till Oct - all from women! I feel like saying December for a laugh!

fastasleep · 19/06/2005 18:50

I love watching thunder and lightening, as long as DH is there lol...I'm such a wimp... as for bikinis I was wandering around the house and garden in my maternity knickers and breastfeeding bra today I'm usually really shy but gave up caring!

I think you should have a t-shirt made Hester! - 'I'm pregnant so give me a seat...' you could have 'you're all seat-hogging bstrds!' on the back for when you get off or something ... can't believe no one gets up

hester · 19/06/2005 22:38

Hiya indamb and CPT

Jockey, fastasleep - I am not good in the heat at the best of times, and I am currently sitting here typing in my bra and knicks, with a fan aimed at my belly. If anybody plays bugger-you-fat-pregnant-lady-I-paid-for-this-seat-and-I'm-keeping-it THIS week, they will feel the full wrath of my hormones

I will report back, from HMP Holloway if necessary, on how I get on.

PS. Did I tell you that my labour ward overlooks Wormwood Scrubs prison? Apparently the hardcore cons regularly complain that the bellowing/shrieking/mooing ladies in labour are disturbing them. I intend to make the villains regret the day they turned to crime

jessicasmummy · 19/06/2005 22:40

PMSL Hester!!!

I know how u feel - at least you manage to wear a bra - cant remember the last time i had one on - something about when im pregnant i just cant wear them!

sititng here in vest top and tiny little shorts.... oh and right by the back door which is wide open!

Give them hell this week chick!

Piggiesmum · 19/06/2005 22:42

rofl hester.

Just make sure you go into labour at 2am on a warm night (in october!!...well it could happen ) so you need the windows open, and bellow and yell for England

mawbroon · 20/06/2005 09:10

Morning all.

Sunshine and heat? Are you having a laugh???

I would love to see some of it here. It's not too bad today, but yesterday was just sh*te with rain all day and grey skies. It did clear up around 9pm and then I got all depressed having to go to bed at 11pm in broad daylight

I got my childminding registration certificate from the Care Commission last week. I still have to do some work round the house and sort out forms/contracts etc etc but hope to have that all done before October so that I will be ready to start when my baby is around 5 or 6 months old. Glutton for punishment or what

Hester LOL at the prisoners complaining, but can quite believe it. Perhaps one day in the future, the pain of childbirth can be channelled directly from the hospital to the prison as an extra deterrant!

That reminds me of a joke about that.

Technology has advanced significantly. One hospital is trialling a system which allows the father to take the pain from the woman during childbirth. This one husband doesn't find it at all sore at 10% pain, so they crank it up and crank it up. The bloke doesn't know what all the fuss is about - he is taking 100% pain and feeling nothing. He goes home after the birth and finds the milkman dead on the doorstep.

Ah, the old ones are the best.

bonniej · 20/06/2005 10:14

lol, mawbroon

I am really starting to suffer at night, it's too HOT and I got up at least 5 times for a wee last night, babe didn't stop kicking.. hard!! Starting to feel tired every morning lately. Even though I've got a 2 year old to look after I am so relieved I don't have a job to go to and everyone who has to go to work in this heat, you have my full sympathy.

Anyway, off to try and find something to wear today that's cool and not too tentlike!

ButtonMoon · 20/06/2005 10:22

Another rotten night with hayfever!! I can cope in the day (just about) but during the night is torture. Been to docs this morn. He said to keep windows shut at night and he has given me a nasal spray to try saying "It's not a lot of cop, only pregnant women use it really" Oh well will give it a shot, just some relief would be nice.
Apart from that, not too bad here apart from the heat, I was done in yesterday but had lots of sleep which was good. Let's hope it cools down slightly to make it more tolerable....bikini sounds like a good plan for me but not for anyone else who may see!! I have put loads of weight on round my hips and thighs....keep telling myself that it's water and will disappear once I've given birth!!!

jessicasmummy · 20/06/2005 10:24

i havent got a bikini but i have got a TANKINI - bikini bottoms, and a vest type top.

fastasleep · 20/06/2005 10:29

Only have enough energy to type -

Oh my god it's hot HOT!

Why then...whyyyyy did I decide to bake a difficult cake at 9am this morning..WHY!

SusiS · 20/06/2005 12:06

Elf1981 · 20/06/2005 12:13

bonniej - despite the heat, I'm actually more comfortable today at work than what I have been over the weekend at home and out and about. Mainly due to the lovely thing called air conditioning! Okay, I whine about it being on constantly and call it the germ spreader, but today I am in love with it!
