Thought I'd start a new thread as No 3 is pretty long now! If anyone knows how to link between the 2 threads can you put one in - I'm not called Jellybrain by accident you know .

Had a job interview yesterday but, haven't heard anything back yet . I don't think my preparation was all that good and was pretty busy over the weekend with birthday party preparations and was consequently shattered.

OP posts:

Miaou · 18/07/2005 15:40

Thanks for the sympathy folks, although after I had posted I reflected that I don't really deserve it, I've had such an easy time of it compared to all you SPD sufferers! I do tend to feel very sorry for myself when I'm poorly though. Much better today.

Azure, how long before you finish work now?

KMS - good news about your nephew. Hope your baby decides to turn for you too (dd1 did, on the day of my planned section! So I got to deliver naturally a week later )

Azure · 18/07/2005 16:02

Glad you're feeling better Miaou. I leave work a week on Friday, if I ever get everything done. I'm at the panicky stage at the moment - there's so much to do at work and I haven't begun to hand over my job yet. My boss today was arranging for me to have a laptop to have full systems access from home - gee thanks. Having said that, DS seems to have done something serious to our home computer and now it doesn't seem to be working at all, so the laptop will come in handy for Mumsnet if nothing else.

Miaou · 18/07/2005 16:07

Aha! That was going to be my next question! Glad you will be able to let us know how you are, but that your boss is expecting you to keep up at home - just watch out or he'll expect you to put in as many hours at home as you did at work!

colinsmommy · 18/07/2005 16:39

Glad you are feeling better, Miaou. And thanks for thinking of me and trying to send cooler weather my way, but you can stop, because it isn't working. It was 105 yesterday, and is supposed to be the same today.

I have to go to the store this morning to get breast pads. I've been leaking all over the place. I had to change Colin's shirt already this morning, because he wanted me to read him a book, and he was leaning on my left breast, and came away with a big wet spot on his back. I wish I could remember the kind I liked last time. Hopefully if I see the box I'll know.

KMS · 18/07/2005 17:21

glad you are feeling better Miaou.
You shouldn't worry about telling us all how rotten you feel. that is what this is for. and I know as an SPD sufferer that it is nice to hear "normal" problems too! I think we tend to get the most air time and that isn't fair really.

Azure-Can't belive your boss wants you to continue at home! Will he continue to pay you full wage!! and defer mat pay till you stop working at home too?

beachyhead · 18/07/2005 17:37

Finally got my act together to get my laptop turned on at home. Well I am at 34 weeks and 2 days and going into tommys to get my date next Tuesday - week tomorrow....... BP is up but no-one seems particularly worried......so excited our group is finally popping and sorry I went AWOL for a while. The first day I was home on mat. leave I just lay on the sofa and slept for three hours - so wierd!!!!!
Still not looking very bumpy at all so I am having another scan next week to size it up - hopefully this will give the consultant to go on!!!!

fatbirdtoo · 18/07/2005 20:53

good to hear from u beachy,we were all worried. glad u r resting though!
I've moved in to the new house and feel less stressed already, even though i've got a zillion boxes to unpack! I finally packed a hospital bag, well almost complete anyway. 2 weeks to go!

Congrats Rochwen, and well done! we need a name?!!!

Miaou · 18/07/2005 21:14

Fatbird, what a relief to be in your new home now! Hopefully you can get some r&r before the baby makes an appearance. if you leave all the sorting for now, you'll get loads of visitors once the baby is born who will do it all for you

Beachyhead, great to hear from you again - glad you are able to keep in touch too! of your small bump though, I am doing a good "beached whale" impression - it's so out of proportion with the rest of me (I'm quite petite) that I'm getting lots of stares!

KMS - thanks for your kind words, I did feel quite guilty for having a moan

kate100 · 19/07/2005 09:44

Good to hear from you Beachy, glad that you're taking it easy, but very jealopus that you'll know when you're baby will be born soon, it's the not knowing that drives me up the wall and the entire medical profession telling me it will come when it's ready

Azure, ao pleased that you're on the finishing straight at work, you sound really fed up and tired with it all.

Poor you Miaou, I keep hoping that I don't pick up anything at this late stage as there's barely enough energy to get through the day as it is, let alone put some effort into getting better.

Fatbirdtoo, so pleased about your new house, but not about the unpacking, I won't rade places with you!! Still at least being busy will keep your mind off the baby, I'm obsessing, can you tell?

My MIL upset me on sunday, unintentionally as usuaul, just thoughtless. She phoned and after about 30 seconds of small talk ...... 'so have you had any labour pains yet?' If I had would I be talking to you on the phone? I know she's excited, but if she's tired of waiting imagine how I feel. Practically threw the phone at DH to get out of talking to her. I just baout managed to be polite to her, but DH said she got the message so I won't have to deal with that again. I'll probably go into labour at DS's party at the weekend and have to deal with her in person instead!! Now that would be fun, imagine of you will the worst person you can in a crisis, double it and that's my MIL. Anyway must go off to an ante-natal group this morning.

Eulalia · 19/07/2005 10:18

beachyhead - glad you are back again.

Kate - my mother said recently "you are doing far too much for someone about to give birth" I wouldn't mind but she didn't actually offer to HELP!

Its really cool here today - about 18C - I think we are going to the beach. At least ds is better now and can enjoy his birthday properly. We made a big chocolate cake yesterday to have at teatime - yum

Twiga · 19/07/2005 12:04

Hi everyone, got my ante-natal stuff sorted out this morning and just in time too. First class for my area is thurs at 6.30pm and is the tour of the Matty plus info on early labour signs. Have also got info on one off breast feeding class and tens pain relief class, which were the two things I really wanted extra info on. Should be able to hire a tens from the Matty. Also great timing as I wanted to pack a hos bag to take to Keswick next week just in case - far to soon for anything to happen but wanted to be prepared anyway, and the hos tour will hopefully give me a vague idea of what is provided standardly and what I need to take for bubs.

Dh and I are paitently waitng for the bedroom furniture to arrive today - will satisfy my need to tidy constantly for today as will have lots of arranging etc to do but by tonight my room should look great! Just the nursery left after this - had a lovely shopping spree in Mothercare yesterday afternoon buying lots of bath stuff for bubs. Got a mat, bath seat, towels, some avent minitures to try and a set of ducks, which we've arranged in the bathroom. We spent ages giving the whole place a good scrub and re-sealing the bath as it was starting to get a bit mouldy. It feels really nice to be making room in the house for the baby.

Eulalia, 2.30pm at the funky forest sounds great, will I meet you out front or inside, not been before? Glad your ds is feeling better, have a lovely time at the beach - it's nice to have a day where it's not quite so hot!

KMS, good to hear your nephew continues to do well.

Miaou, glad to hear you're feeling better. Being tired and not well is very draining when pg, feel free to have a good moan it's what we're here for.

Azure, hope you'll be able to take it easy and not have to do too much for work - sounds a bit cheeky! Will be nice to still be in touch though via the lap-top.

Beachyhead, great to see you posting and glad that everything is well with you.

Fatbirdtoo, must be nice to have the move out of the way - hars work though. i sometimes wander if we're a bit mad with all the stuff we're doing round the house but it's passing the time and stopping me worrying about the waiting. Reckon Miaou's got the right idea, when folk visit and want to be helpful, just assign them a job .

wilbur · 19/07/2005 15:01

Congratulations Rochwen! Do let us know your dd's name and how you're getting on if you have a chance after all that drama. Honestly, all these queue jumpers! If you check the due dates ladies, you'll see that I'm supposed to have the first baby on this thread .

Getting sorted here and doing some mad tidying so things must be getting close. Baby felt very low yesterday, but not so much today so it's still wandering. M/w says all is fine so I will just carry on with my to do list and wait....

kizzy212 · 19/07/2005 15:42

Just came back from doctors, i am now offically 1/5 th engaged. how long do you reckon till signs of labour.

Miaou · 19/07/2005 16:10

Beat you kizzy, I'm just back from midwife's and am at least 2/5 engaged! It's not really an indicator of how soon though, particularly if it's your first, as they can start dropping into the pelvis quite a time before the baby comes.

I told the m/w I'm having lots of Braxton Hicks now, which is apparently a sign that I may not be long. We told my mum and dad to go ahead and go away for the w/e, since the hospital say that it would be ok if we turned up with the dds if we needed to - so now I just hope I don't go into labour on Friday or Saturday night!

Mum and I took the girls swimming today - it was pretty busy but I still managed to get a few lengths in. Baby is beginning to squish my lungs a bit though, so I could only do a couple of lengths at a time then stop for a rest!

kizzy212 · 19/07/2005 16:22

oh, i cant believe how excited i am 1/5 th seemed so great, cant imagine how 2/5th feels. lol
this is my second pregancy, but 8 years apart. so i have forgotten when and where things happen. plus was started at 36 weeks with first. i am 36+1 today so not long to go. what dates have you got?

Miaou · 19/07/2005 16:34

kizzy, it's 6.5 years since my last one, so it's all a bit of a distant memory for me too! I'm 38+3 now, due a week on Sunday (31st?). This will be my third

PS I'm very excited too!!

colinsmommy · 19/07/2005 16:38

Wow how exciting for all you who are starting to be engaged.

My petty complaint today is boredom. It was 107 yesterday, so DS and I were stuck in the house, as it was too hot to go out. I feel like I'm ready for the baby to come, now I just have to wait the 6 weeks until I'm due.

Oh, and good to see you again, beachyhead.

kizzy212 · 19/07/2005 17:11

Miaou- i am so jealous but i sopose it can happen any time soon for both of us. i wish you all the luck.

colinsmommy- 107, where do you live? i thought our recent spell of hot weather here in england uk was hot!!! however are you coping?

colinsmommy · 19/07/2005 17:23

Kizzy- I live in Southern Oregon, USA. I'm coping by staying inside. Pretty much everyone here has air conditioning in at least one room of their house, and in their cars. But when it gets that hot, its hard for the a/c to keep up. Its not as bad as 2 years ago when pregnant with ds. There were 21 days in July with temps over 100. So far there's only been 3 days over 100. Its supposed to be cool today, only 102!

KMS · 20/07/2005 00:13

Colinsmommy-I hate to think how it must feel in that sort of heat!! here we are all complaining about 30 degrees C! It was cooler today though. I suppose as you say at least it is cooler in the house with your Air Con. We don't have any Air Con in our house or car!!

I'm getting very jittery about seeing the Obstetrition tomorrow (or should I say today, just seen the time!!) ECV not happening till thursday but feel I may have a fight on my hands with the doc tomorrow about avoiding a section.

Hope those who are starting to engage aren't too uncomfortable. I remember feeling like I was sitting on DS1's head!!

DS1 has Slapped cheek! He is covered in a rash. He is fine as the 2 wks before the rash are the contagious time and he did have some joint pain during that time (but I thought it was just growing pains and him not wanting to do sports day!!! bad mother!!) Have been told by some that i need to get anti virals for bump, but (useless) gp said that not much harm would come at this stage of pg. Not sure what to think. Will ask doc tomorrow.

Well better try and get some sleep!

Azure · 20/07/2005 08:54

Beachyhead, really pleased to hear from you again. I'm so jealous at being able to sleep on the sofa for 3 hours! How exciting that there are some heads engaged - after the initial flurry of births I wonder who the next will be! Fatbirdtoo, I hope you're settling into your house - I can't imagine moving now as well. We have had the decorators in but the one room that really needs to be done - the nursery - has to wait until after the loss adjustors visit tomorrow because we have an insurance claim in for some water damage. DS's room has been painted, though, and he's very excited - we have to get some curtains now because the chintzy print he has at the moment isn't really his scene! KMS, sorry to hear about your DS having slapped cheek - I hope you don't have to take anything as a result.

Eulalia · 20/07/2005 10:19

Twiga - it sounds lovely doing all that shopping and organising - reminds me of having my first all over again. Inside is easier as its just a car park outside so if either of us it late there is nothing to do. Glad you can make it. I can email you a pic of myself if you like. Anyone else able to come?

Yes the beach was lovely - it was dull but warm and nice not to faff about with sun cream for once.

Miaou - you recover fast - swimming already!

KMS - sorry to hear about your ds - hope he is better soon.

Rushing today as we're off to the outdoor pool soon and am a bit behind. I can't believe it we all had a lie in till 9.30 this morning!!! Will probably pay for it later with the kids staying up unless I can really tire them out. Got midwife this afternoon and baby's size checked.

Miaou · 20/07/2005 12:13

I seem to have got over my insomnia (for now at least) - I slept really well and deeply last night and feel quite energetic this morning. I have been out in the garden pruning for a couple of hours, but the midges have driven me in! I'll hopefully get a bit more done this afternoon.

Hope you have a lovely meetup!

leahbump · 20/07/2005 13:41

Hi everyone,

glad to hear that most people are coping reasonably well with 3rd trimester woes. And of course speeding round for those last minute diy and shopping bits!

My homebirth kit and gas and air are here now- am officially 37 week today so bubs can come whenever!! Have been niggling awfully for ages and the reflexologist i see (yesterday) said she thinks the baby will come this weekend!!

Still dare not get excited as I'll be desperate if i hit 42 weeks.

ds is still not walking so it looks like we are going to have 2 non walkers for a while (glad i got a double buggy) and is very frustrated about it at the mo! He is currently playing in my birth pool- which is filled with play balls!!

hmmmmm wonder who will be next.......off to make another raspberry leaf tea!!

fabwife · 20/07/2005 17:15

Feel a bit late to join this group as you all obviously know each other but as am now 37 weeks, feel it's a bit late to start a new one?
I an desperate to have the date of my section brought forward but consultant holding firm at 39 weeks.Baby is already 7lbs by scan and I'm 39 weeks by my dates but not by scan........
Have decided to try to be positive and do all those last minute jobs- washed all small baby bedding today and enjoyed seeing it all again. I can't walk properly anymore so am just pottering round house.......2 days to go until the end of term thank goodness then no more school runs to worry about.
Everyone who has MIL overeager for baby to arrive should try mine- never asks about this baby at all...or me either even when I've just seen consultant. Funny how they never get it right is'nt it!......obviously we will all be brilliant MILwhen timecomes!
Best of luck to everyone on their forthcoming labours.
