Thought I'd start a new thread as No 3 is pretty long now! If anyone knows how to link between the 2 threads can you put one in - I'm not called Jellybrain by accident you know .

Had a job interview yesterday but, haven't heard anything back yet . I don't think my preparation was all that good and was pretty busy over the weekend with birthday party preparations and was consequently shattered.

OP posts:

34 weeks appointment with my GP this morning. Everything fine. I asked her to measure my bump and it looked about right, so I'm relieved about that (having not been measured previously). I had to take DS with me as the nanny didn't turn up (he broke up from school yesterday) and he was excited about hearing the heartbeat.

Rochwen · 15/07/2005 14:36

Well what a week I've had !

Baby Girl Rochwen decided that impatience is certainly a trait she wanted to inherit from me and thus made her entrance last Friday (8.7.05) at 12.30 noon via urgent c/s due to breech after my waters broke the night before during the hospital tour (really !!!). Everything was a bit frantic as there were no neo-natal beds in the hospital and it was discussed flying me down to England to deliver. However, after a growth scan showed that the wee girl was a healthy size they decided to take the risk and two hours later she was delivered, 49cm long and very skinny, weighing a respectable 2420 grams (5 pounds 8 ounces). The c/s was a really good experience, the staff were very professional but also very very kind and nice. The wee girl only needed two nights in the neo-natal unit and then she was up in the post-natal ward with me. We finally got home on Wednesday evening. Breastfeeding is working very well to everybody's surprise (esp my own) and I'm really falling in love with her ...

I'm still totally shocked and overwhelmed but very very pleased that all is well. May my good luck last !

So, I guess I'm the first in our thread?

... and to the Aberdeen Lovelies, I hope this will excuse me missing our meeting, no?

Hope all is well, more details soon.

Hugs,

Rochwen

Congratulations Rochwen - what lovely news. Really glad to hear that everything went/is going well.

Is your dd called Rochwen? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Has your SPD settled after the birth?

Congrats again.

leahbump · 15/07/2005 15:37

congratulations rochwen!!

great to hear all is well and your daughter has arrived!!

Azure · 15/07/2005 16:16

Rochwen, many many congratulations. So glad to hear that everything went well despite your DD being impatient to arrive, and that you got your c-section in the end. We were getting very worried when we had heard nothing from your for a week. Wow, 3 "August" girls already.

fabwife · 15/07/2005 18:06

Hi Miaou, thanks forpost - feelso much better after reading everyone else's!, I look pretty big and am measuring 38 weeks while being 36 - am just 5'4" and think height makes a difference in appearance of bump - am tired of being stared at as if only fat pregnant lady in world! Only pro is so many people stare at bump I can relax about unruly hair and no make-up!
Also have seaside postcard lady breasts........Am finding seesawing moods a pain - feel a bit aggressive and have household tiptoeing round....had horrible hospital experience following labour scare - had to goo in for check (am sceduled for ec so not supposedto labour at all), and of course false alarm - male dr said that the grinding backache I had just regular pregnancy backache - made me feel complete idiot as it was actually the sort of early labour backache. I hate all men a lot, except my lovely husband who I only hate periodically (like when he lauhgs at me trying to pick things up from the floor!)
Am tired of being pregnant and want my baby asap - any tips?, tried the sex, the pinneapplejuice, the bumpy rd and the curry.....

josey · 15/07/2005 18:35

congrats Rochwen glad everything went ok for you and your DD is well.

I cant believe how many babies we have already on this thread.

Eulalia Im away on Sunday and get home on Friday from hols, like i said its ok with me for you to go ahead with the meeting at this rate we will all have our babies

glad there is some news on beachyhead also

I had my parent craft classes today and much to DH horror he was told how to massage my back properly and he had to continue practicing - oh how i love my physio
However we were also advised today as my labour was so quick with DS that should anything start that we phone an ambulance

fabwife - try raspberry leaf tea or you can get raspberry leaf tablets.

Twiga · 15/07/2005 18:54

Eulalia, I could make thurs next week, am going to Stirling on Fri then will be in Keswick from the Sat for a week. If we can't meet up before hand we could always wait until your bubs has arrived - realise tht end of july is really close to your due date - Josey and I are both due near the end Aug so.....Failing that we're have to have a meet up to show off our little uns at a later point asap! Glad to hear that you are feeling so well.

Rochwen, so glad to hear from you and that your dd has arrived and all is well. We were all getting pretty worried there for a while. Sounds like she is a good weight for being early. What have you named her?

Josey it would be nice to try and all four of us meet up - reckon we've got a wee bit of a window after the end of the month with you and I being due at the end of Aug, just Eulalia that we need to keep an eye on

Think I'm going to phone Aberdeen Matty tomorrow and find out about ante-natal classes, starting to feel late in the day for not having heard anything (am 33+2). Couldn't wait for dh to get home so got a taxi out to the airport to meet him this morning and we then went for lunch and the cinema - he's now cooking me dinner which is just great as I'm shattered. Came home wit a gorgeous picture frame to put a first baby photo in once bubs arrives to go up in the living room - he's such a sweetie. Generally feeling well apart from the pelvis/hip pain, folk keep asking if I can't wait for it to be over but I'm honestly enjoying being pg and not feeling imapitient at all - will be nice to meet the bubs finally though!

colinsmommy · 15/07/2005 19:04

Am I only 33+2? Oh (insert bad word here) I thought I was farther along than that.

It is super hot here today. Colin and I are going to go swimming at a friend's house with a bunch of people, and then they are having us over for dinner (don't have to make it!!!). I can't believe the amount of stuff we have to pack to do that.

I was super worn out yesterday. My lovely DH took us out to Thai so I wouldn't have to cook.

Glad to hear we found Rochwen.

Twiga · 15/07/2005 19:10

Sorry Colinsmommy (have been obsesively keeping count since I tested ) though I'm sure you'll be earlier than that as this isn't your first - I'm fully expecting to go over !

colinsmommy · 15/07/2005 19:16

I kept obsessive count last time too! I think I'm just too tired this time around. I went over with Colin, so I feel like I will with Spud the Peanut this time, too. I have visions of everyone else having their babies and I'll still be sitting here watching the due in September people having babies before me.

Twiga · 15/07/2005 19:20

Oh well, guess we'll just have to keep eachother company - this lot(take note) willhave to offer lots of sympathy and keep visiting us on this thread ! Mind you with the way this thread is going, could be a good sign for both of us - just need to figure out what it is they're all drinking !

colinsmommy · 15/07/2005 19:26

Take note all you people having early babies, send some of the early vibes Twiga's and my way so we won't have to sit here till the end of August in this heat. Thank you. I'm seriously thinking that 2 weeks early would be nice. Anything earlier than 3 weeks, and I have to go to a hospital way farther away, cause the one here doesn't have a NICU. And then DH's company is sending him away at the end of the 2nd week in August, so I don't want to give birth then.

fabwife · 15/07/2005 19:37

thanks for raspberry tea tip- have'nt tried that one. Sounds awful to want to hurry baby, but by my datesI'm due august 1st - according to scan it's aug 12th - I feel nearer 38 than 36 wks and think dragging it out to c section at 39 pushing it as have developed diabetes and awful spd.
Am very envious of people whose babies have arrived already!

Eulalia · 16/07/2005 08:17

Rochwen - congratulations!!! Thank goodness it all turned out OK in the end. Can't remember how early were you?

josey - sorry I got mixed up I thought you were away last week - I wondered why you were posting though! Well I guess I'd better not delay things as I am 38 weeks today. We can always meet up again with our babies anyway. Hope you have a nice holiday.

Twiga - shall we just meet on Thursday then as you are in Aberdeen anyway its not too far for you to travel. If I am still around end July which is likely then I can meet again. Maybe Rochwen can come along then too.

Twiga · 16/07/2005 10:08

Eulalia, that would be lovely - thursday is fine at any time/place for me, just let me know what's easiest for you. Rochwen, if you're feeling up to it feel free to come along too.

Oh that's the postie with my Harry Potter book, gotta go!

Twiga · 16/07/2005 10:53

Eulalia, would it be ok to meet after 2pm on Thurs say for coffee rather than lunch? Just remembered I've got the mw making a home visit then as I'm not able to see her Fri at the GP what with being away. She hasn't organised a time just said sometime in the morning but should be before 2pm - if she came much earlier I could always get in touch and we could meet before that?! Sorry to be a pain

kate100 · 16/07/2005 11:07

Congratulations Rochwen on your little girl for you, but for me. I hope that your SPD has resolved itself.

I've just had the best nights sleep. It was nice and cool and I only had to get up once and as DS is away with his nanny and grandad i had a lie in this morning, bliss!!! I also did all of my freezer cooking yesterday, so we won't starve after the birth, it was quite an achievement not to let DH eat it before it got frozen. We also went out for dinner last night, curry of course at this stage, just the 2 of us and it was lovely, Then because the weather was cooler we both caught up on some much needed sleep. I've also just finished the ironing, so all I need to do now is pick up my Harry Potter and then I can have my baby, as I'm 38 weeks and that's quite enough I think, wishful thinking me? No!! I keep thinking that the baby will be born at the weekend as DS was, how silly, but I can't imagine giving birth on a weekday. Anyone else having a second feel as if they can only recreate what they already know?

Hope everyone is feeling OK, Twiga as you've already got your HP, don't tell me what happens!

colinsmommy · 16/07/2005 16:21

I know what you mean, Kate. I see my labor happening in exactly the same way, and I'm really not quite sure how to incorporate DS into the picture. I don't know what I'll do if I go into labor when DH is at work, and the sad thing is he's only about 2 minutes away. Good for you with the freezer cooking. I had a few meals in there, but have used them up already being too tired to cook. It is just too hot right now to cook any more than necessary. The good thing is that in playgroup everyone has made dinner for those who have already had their babies, and will do the same for me, and then I have a few other friends who want to do the same, so we will have about 10 nights of dinner taken care of.

I'm watching the British Open this morning, and feeling incredibly of all you in Scotland. Would you send some of the clouds and cooler weather my way?

Eulalia · 17/07/2005 09:18

Yes Twiga that would be fine, if I remember you don't have a car is that right?

Going to take it easy today as yesterday was hectic - ds's birthday party and then village BBQ in the evening. Poor ds has a cold and was a bit up and down. dd had a great time though and so did his friends. He seems much better today thankfully.

Twiga · 17/07/2005 12:48

Eulalia, good to hear your ds is feeling brighter tody. Have got car but can't drive - dh maybe able to drop me off or I'll just come to where ever by bus/taxi, really no bother. Pretty tired too today, out late last night having tea with friends, just gonna take it easy and get a nap later I think.

KMS · 17/07/2005 16:32

Blimey it's HOT!!
Went to see my nephew today in SCBU. He has dropped to 4lb 3oz but that is really good as they had expected him to drop more. He is so tiny! Feeding really well. He is Bfed during the day and has EBM through his Nasogastric tube at night as he isn't quite strong enough to cope with the effort of feeding at night as well. They do wake him to give hime a bottle of EBM in the night. SIL is allowed to go home at night now so she can sleep better.

37wks today. although I am sure I will have at least 4 wks to go unless they do something drastic because of breech baby.

Hope you are all surviving this heat!!

Miaou · 17/07/2005 20:24

Sympathy please. I've been poorly ! I had a sore throat, swollen glands and temperature yesterday and spent the whole day in bed (absolutely unheard of for me!). However I am much better today, just have a heavy cold now.

It's been really warm and muggy here today, and quite a few showers of rain - I keep trying to waft the cooler stuff your way colinsmommy - is it working?

Eulalia · 18/07/2005 08:33

Miaou - poor you Hope you are over the worst of it. Nothing worse than feeling fluey over the summer.

Twiga - what about that Funky Forest place I mentioned (soft play area). My kids loves it and you can park outside. It's in a family pub called the Cocket Hat on Anderson Drive next to where the fire station used to be. You can get taxi there easily or probably a bus to the top of Midstocket Road and cross the drive (pedestrian crossing there) and its right in front of you. They do meals/coffees etc. 2.30pm OK or do you need it to be a bit later?

KMS - glad to hear your nephew is doing well.

It's a bit cooler now - hope the sun comes out though. Plan to go to the open air pool tomorrow for ds's birthday.

Azure · 18/07/2005 08:53

Miaou sorry to hear you've been poorly. KMS, glad your nephew is doing well. I experienced swollen ankles for the first time this weekend and was feeling very under the weather yesterday. Unfortunately that meant that I wasn't able to go to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory premiere and party for which I had tickets - I had been really looking forward to it as well. Of course I was relatively fine this morning for coming to work - the drive only took 50 minutes today, an improvement on the 2 hours last Monday.
