Meant to say, sorry you're puky, Gwenynbee. You're not alone, the last week or 10 days I feel like I'm back to morning sickness, really queasy most of the day, feel better when I'm actually eating but not for long, gone off tea and coffee again. Yuck.

lummox · 24/05/2005 18:00

Thanks for all the good wishes - mild contractions starting to come now, so next post may be from dh.....or from me saying it's all stopped!

Hope all is good with everyone - am wondering now whether I should have made myself watch the programme about midwives that was on last night!

katzguk · 24/05/2005 19:01

how exciting baby number 5 on its way!!

hope i'm next!

Oh no, the Desperate Midwives programme was a big mistake for me last night - watched it eating my dinner and blubbing all over the sofa (not a good way to eat a baked potato). Just glad dh wasn't here to witness the spectacle.

tribpot · 24/05/2005 19:18

Congrats lummox, I am poised over the spreadsheet for an update from your dh!

MrsW - no, I don't think I'll be up in Leeds again. Dh is keen that I not go, and I can get through the work here without too many problems anyway. I think I'll keep working as long as poss, since it's quite interesting and low in stress. I'm trying to get enough weeks of work together to qualify for Maternity Allowance (no SMP for me) so the more the merrier.

Breastfeeding workshop today - we watched a hilarious Norwegian video (mostly in English). It started with someone doing downhill ski-ing with a baby strapped to her front (I'm assuming she wasn't actually breastfeeding whilst ski-ing although you never know). The midwife commented "you don't have to do ski-ing". Anyway, quite interesting generally, certainly worth going along.

Bero - great update about Samuel, fingers crossed he will be home soon. Note to self: must translate the baby's weight into grams for my European friends when the announcement time comes round (I shall put yours in lb & oz for our stats page to be consistent with everyone else!)

I still haven't had any BHs. Dh is going to Amsterdam this weekend (obv I am staying at home). So let us sincerely hope they don't decide to kick in then as I shall be terrified.

Hello

We have a baby boy, born today 24th May at 10.35am and weighing 4kg.
Mother and Baby are well and will report more when home from hospital.

Welshmum's bloke

tribpot · 25/05/2005 04:58

Wow! A little green boy by the name of Shrek?! (I'm going to put it in the stats that way til we hear more).

Fabulous news and big congrats to the Welshie family

tribpot · 25/05/2005 05:12

latest baby stats Welshie's birth announcement

(Please no-one ask what I am doing up at this time, I haven't been able to get to sleep yet due to hideous back pain. Unfortunately I think it really is just hideous back pain and not anything more momentous)

I can't believe it! I checked in here thinking there would be announcement from Lummox not Welshie. Great news, and another of the blue variety for the June football team

Good to see you KVG, was intending to post asking where you were as you haven't been around for a while (thought you'd gone into labour!). Not so good news about your DH though. Will he have a car down there? Hopefully he will be able to get back fairly quickly if she does come early. My DH was up in Middlesbrough when my waters broke - only about an 1 1/2 hours away but he leapt into the car and drove like a mad man to get home. He was quite disappointed that he didn't get stopped by the police as he was looking forward to using the 'my wife's in labour' excuse

Charleypops, any news from yesterday's appointment? I hope all is well. And Pink, hope the exams went well.

Right, better go and entertain DS. Catch up with everyone properly later.

mrsflowerpot · 25/05/2005 11:41

Sympathy on the dh front KVG - my dh is working away two or three days a week too. He's 2 hours away and it was freaking me out slightly, but then I figured that if he went to London on the train for the day (which he did regularly when I was due to have ds) it would take him more than that to get home, but I wouldn't think twice about it. I have put him on a severe alcohol ban when he's away though as the last thing I want is to go into labour and him to have to say 'sorry dear, I'm over the limit...'

tribpot · 25/05/2005 11:42

KVG - that puts my dh going to Amsterdam for one night to shame! Although I must say, after the amount of pain I was in last night, I'm not wild about the idea of him going.

I do think your dh needs to talk to his bosses, Reading - York (it is York isn't it?) isn't the shortest distance in the world and I really don't think that's on at our stage of pregnancy. Can he not be there part-time and work remotely the rest of the time? Going by the performance of the Junies so far, we're all due to be two weeks early, after all.

Afternoon all, not caught up properly, so apologies for missing anything important out.

Lummox, fingers crossed for you, best of luck. And congratulations to the Welshie family !!!!

Berolina, thanks for the update on little Samuel. I?ll check out your thread after this.

Mrs Wed, you?re probably right about the outwards thing. My DH has taken photos of me from behind, and you genuinely can?t see the bump. It just looks like I have a thicker waist than normal (plus a bit of extra back fat ). It?s all stuck in front of me, like a giant basketball.

I am so at all these Junies having their babies early. The MW this am told me I was 3/5 engaged and she is expecting to see me next week. Boo!!!!!

tribpot · 25/05/2005 13:06

I think I mentioned before, my middle brother was recounting the story of his oldest being born and commenting that it had been particularly bad for him because he'd been out on the lash the night before. (I don't think he was trying to imply it had been worse for him than for my SIL!). After that he had a self-imposed booze ban in the weeks leading up to the birth of children number 2&3, very sensible My dh will need to go somewhat the other way and be upping his meds significantly to get through my labour I think, I may have to help him out if there's any liquid morphine going spare.

KVG, I do see the problem with your dh and the new job. Definitely a car is indicated, this should help focus his mind on the need for a booze ban. And it's good you'll have people around, with it being the first time you just don't know how it's going to feel. I shall be relying on Mumsnet for reassurance if anything happens this weekend!

tribpot · 25/05/2005 13:07

Has everyone who's been told the baby is engaged been told it's at 3/5? Not 1/5 or 2/5 or even 4/5? It's just beginning to sound suspiciously like a bit of midwife mumbo jumbo to keep the ladies quiet

Noggermum · 25/05/2005 13:17

Wow, I haven't logged on for a measly 6 days and all these babies have popped!! Huge congratulations to all families concerned (with a bit of for those Junies who have delivered before me, an official May-er!)

No sign of anything happening here, despite being just 4 days from D day now. Baby is not even engaged yet and seems happy floating free. Am expecting to have to have another cocktail of chemicals to bring it out.......

megi · 25/05/2005 13:54

hello!

Congratulations Welshmum! Great news!

I have just had a strange phone call from the hospital. I was there on Monday and was told I was in pre-labour. Being feeling uncomfortable since but nothing that makes me need to go back - signs are still continuing things are moving in the right direction though - I am still having a show! - Anyway - the midwife said that she wants me to go straight back for more monitoring. I was asked if the baby was moving - to which I said yes - but still have to go in! Very puzzled and actually quite worried - is there something they are not telling me?

About being 3/5 engaged - I am pretty sure it doesn't mean that much. 2/5 is properly engaged - so 4/5 would be hardly engaged at all. - My Dr. said I wasn't fully engaged - and on my notes says 3/5 engaged. - and I remember dd was 3/5 and a couple of weeks later was 2/5. - I might be wrong though!

Cooperoo · 25/05/2005 13:58

Hello all,
Just popping in to see if Lummox has any news.
Trib - I was told I was 4/5 engaged last week. Still no news on the clinic but I am going to ring the ward this afternoon.
KVG - Sorry DH will have to go away. I wouldn't be too happy either especially with all these Junies popping early. Insist on a car I reckon. Glad you will have company and someone to look after you while he is away.
Well my friend is now waiting at the terminal for her flight. We had a lovely morning together with her and her family camped out here waiting to check in. (The terminal is on camp). I was able to give them lunch and do some useful things which stopped us from crying all morning. Typically just before they were due to go her dd did a huge poo which leaked all over her travelling clothes (not in cloth ) and so she has gone off in dd's trousers. We also found the pair of dd's playing in the toilet with dd's armbands.....YUK.The door was shut but they are smarter than we are now. So that is the end of an era. Can't really believe she won't be here for a cup of tea again. . DD didn't help by yelling and sobbing her dd's name as they left like her heart was breaking too. Oh well. I have this baby to look forward to which will def keep me busy. Hope it comes soon.
Charley - Any news?
Pink - I hope you have your feet up somewhere reading that book you promised yourself.
I am off to do some internet shopping now. Retail therapy.
xxx Coop

Cooperoo · 25/05/2005 14:01

Megi -Xposted sorry.
Hope all is OK. Sorry you have this worry. How annoying they wouldn't say more on the phone and why would they ring just like that. Good luck. I will be thinking of you.........I am sure all will be OK. Take care

On another note I thought 4/5 was just before fully engaged. I am disappointed now as I thought I was nearly there at 4/5. Certainly feels like it.

gwenynbee · 25/05/2005 14:02

Dearest Ladies!

Hope that you are all well!

Good luck to Lummox and Llongyfarchiadau to Welsh Mum! What lovely news, it seems that there is a current trend in here to have early babies!!

Whilst I am really tired of being pregnant now, I'm really not ready for it! The kitchen is nowhere near finished, It will be at least another week or so before I can actually cook in there without having bits of rubble and plaster falling into the saucepans! My mother on the other hand is being an absolute star, she lives a 150 miles away from me and has even offered to come down to fetch all my dirty laundry for me, and take all the baby stuff to be washed and ironed for me! Bless her!

I am really knackered. When does this nesting instinct kick in? I wish that I had the energy to clean the house. I'm meant to be changing the bed as we speak, but visiting you lovely ladies is far more interesting!

Sickness has eased off a bit, got told off by MW, that if it happens again that I will have to be hospitalised, as I have been really dehydrated, so I am guzzling gallons of water throughout the day. I could do with a comode in the corner of everyroom in the house, as climbing up the stairs is like climbing Snowdon.

Anyway ladies, good luck as it seems that every time I come in here, there's always a new bit of good news!!
